Joe Joins Superfecta 28/2/19

London based Indie Rock Band Superfecta (Video Of The Day) have not only taken their debut album 'Disconnect' on the road, but they also have a new bass guitarist - none other than our old mucker and Replicants vocalist Joe Head. After gigs in London and Wolverhampton, the guys are currently in beautiful Austria for a series of shows with their friends Silencer, before returning for three more UK dates from April.

Notting Hill Jackaman Tonight 28/2/19

"Through out the set Lynne's vocals transcended time and space, soaring to the highest reaches of the vocal register with complete control, then dipping down low and gravely with a vibrant wailing intensity only really heard from the true legendary greats of Soul music. There is definitely magic in them vocal chords! A very special evening of high quality songs and an unforgettable musical experience. Overall a very impressive body of work from Jackaman. Lynne is definitely one the country's finest Soul/Rock singers and deserves all the success she can get." That was part of our take on Lynne Jackaman (Track Of The Day and pictured) at Putney's Half Moon last March and Lynne returns to the Smoke tonight at Notting Hill Arts Club.

Kris Barras Garage Review 27/2/19

"Ah, and now, the Les Paul is back on and the time has come for what has quickly become the absolute highlight of the Kris Barras Band set - it’s the sublime 'Watching Over Me'. As soon as the sombre piano intro starts the place erupts into cheers. Anybody would think from this reaction that’s it’s a cherished oldie but no - it’s the LAST track on Kris’s LAST album from LAST year! Kris tells the story of how, inspired by his dad, he started playing guitars at nine. We lost him, he says, a short time ago to cancer and this is for him. The guitar intro starts and there’s no hiding the inspiration for THIS one - the late, great and lamented Gary Moore. You can tell the proper Kris fans love this one too, the phones are out and if they could the lighters would be out too. They’re right, it’s the song of the night and it’s the solo of the night. You can imagine Kris’s dad having a beer (or possibly a Guinness?) with Gary upstairs and saying “that’s my boy down there!” Even grumpy old Gary would give a grin."

Borderline Photo Gallery 26/2/19

Ariel Posen of Brothers Landreth fame, released his much anticipated debut album, 'How Long' last month and is currently undertaking his first major headline tour of the UK this month including London's Borderline last Sunday night. 'How Long' showcases not only the Canadian's chops as an instrumentalist, but also his talents as a diverse songwriter, too. The record casts a wide net, moving from rootsy Blues to R&B to Melodic Rock & Roll. A co-writer and producer for artists of all genres, Posen shows the full range of his talents on all 10 tracks, however, 'How Long' is not a guitar record, although there's certainly plenty of guitar to be heard. Instead, it's a song record, filled with hooks, autobiographical lyrics and Posen's compelling voice. With a review to come, check out our Photo Gallery from the gig here including support Katy Hurt (pictured).

O2 Academy Islington Review 25/2/19

"Finally, full Hard Rockin' order was restored with their glorious closing headbanger and second single off of 'AIT' 'Not Your Enemy' - with its riff to die for and some final stack climbing. Demanding that we "Give It Up For The Support Bands", they left the stage to rapturous applause before taking the obligatory photo of the jubilant crowd. A set stuffed with recognisable riffs and singable lyrics - there was not a filler in sight. These guys never fail to deliver. All in all, not only a brilliant night of Rock from three young dynamic bands, but just as importantly, performed also to a young demographic who thankfully don't operate solely in the world called 'The Brits'. Sod Blue Oyster Cult - so pleased to witness tonight that Rock music is in such safe hands."

Posen released his much anticipated debut album, 'How Long' last month and is currently undertaking his first major headline tour of the UK this month including returning to London's Borderline tonight. Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics CD Review 22/2/19

"It's fair to say that the band is not all about Mr. Buchanan though. The album crosses so may Rock genres and combines the influences of the band, none more so than Mart Trail's undoubted NWOBHM input on 'Mind Of A Mute' - it's mystical intro descending into a Heavy Metal riff to die for, with the versatile voice of Buchanan sounding very reminiscent of the good old days of Scott Stapp. Would love to see that one live, as I would the next track 'Morals' - which again keeps Freddie's spirit alive and kicking. The good news is that on this Special Edition you also get a live version of 'Morals' plus, to finish off with, two exclusive brand-new studio tracks. Not be confused with Heaven's Basement's firm favourite 'Fire Fire', 'Fire In The Field' was actually the 'B' side of the aforementioned single 'All The Things You've Said And Done'. Still sounding fresh and ace, Aaron strains those fiery vocal chords once again as his sibling gives Slash a run for his money with an outstanding guitar solo. We finally reach 'Undertow', which is real virgin territory, but is thankfully not out of place with the quality that has preceded it. With its pounding beat plus great vocal and guitar harmonies, it definitely complements the original album, and is affirmation, if you needed it, that Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics is still very much in business."

British Rock band Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics recently signed to Listenable Records and to celebrate, the band and the label release a Special Edition of their acclaimed album ‘The Man With Stars On His Knees’ today, featuring five brand new bonus tracks. Read the whole of AJ's review here plus check out our Video Of The Day.

Stone Broken In Islington Tonight 22/2/19

Leaf Hound At Eel Pie Tonite 21/2/19

The band re-formed in 2004 and has since re-issued their cult 1971 'Growers of Mushroom' album with one additional track plus recorded a new album, 'Unleashed'. Doors open at 8.30pm with music from 9-11pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted admission.

Amongst Vultures 21/2/19

Today's Track Of The Day is Saint Apache's video for 'Amongst Vultures': another razor-sharp, hard-hitting, high-octane track from the up-and-coming, politically-committed band. The track bristles with hardcore drive and edge, with the fast-paced track taken from their 4-track EP 'Black Days', which is due to be released this Friday. It shares the limelight with 'The Shameful', 'Strive to Survive' and 'Tory Man', their material displaying their energy, anger and conviction, not to mention their skilled musicianship and trademark, full-frontal, never-giving-it-less-than-100% performance. Thom Meredith’s raw, super-charged vocals front the song, with Adam Oarton’s drums pounding a powerful, primal beat whilst Leo Burdett’s lead guitar and Ross Towner’s powerful bass drive the music and message home with vigour and verve.

Circu5 Comes To Town 21/2/19

Today's Video Of The Day is Circu5 – the project of multi-instrumentalist Steve Tilling (TC&I) – which is now a full band and hitting the road in a series of shows. Joining Circu5 are Mark Kilminster (ex-Tin Spirits) on bass and vocals, drummer Greg Pringle (Roger Daltrey band) and Matt Backer (Julian Lennon) on guitar and vocals. Circu5 (pronounced 'circa five') debuts live at Fusion festival, The Civic, in Stourport on Sunday 24th March, followed by shows at The Fiddler's Elbow in London on Thursday 28th March (with IT and Tom Slatter), The Water Rats in London on Friday 14th  June (with Mellotronanism) and The Cellar Bar in Devizes on Sunday 16th June. Their globally acclaimed debut Circu5 album was released in September 2017 with Steve performing almost all instrumental and vocal duties, with guest spots from musicians including Dave Gregory (Big Big Train, XTC) and Johnny Warman.

Slash At The Apollo Tonite 20/2/19

"The party is in full swing now and up next is Slash. I have to say the sound levels were beginning to bug everyone now and even the trademark Slash solos were a bit mute, especially in the first half of the set. However the roof came off – if there had been one of course – as he launched into 'Sweet Child of Mine', 'Slither' and 'Paradise City' – brilliant finale to the set. He doesn’t say much – he doesn’t need to!" That was part of our High Voltage take way back in July 2011 (pictured) and both Slash and Myles Kennedy return to London tonight with their Conspirators at the Eventim Apollo.

Electric Escape The Fate 20/2/19

Escape The Fate go blind dating in today's Video Of The Day for ‘Do You Love Me?’, taken from their sixth and latest album 'I Am Human', that sees an evolution of Escape The Fate’s sound which brings the band back to the excitement of their roots. The video comes just as the band wrap up their UK and European headline tour, celebrating the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough album 'This War Is Ours' - performing the album in its entirety at their final show at London’s Electric Ballroom tonight. 'This War Is Ours' was their debut record with vocalist Craig Mabbitt, and marked the beginning of a long-standing and remarkable journey for the band that’s seen them loved across the world. The tour was a huge success in Australia in 2018, so the band were ecstatic to be able to bring the celebration to fans at twenty-three venues across the UK and Europe.

Enuff Z'Nuff Lounge 666 Review 19/2/19

"Lounge 666’s constricted environment limited the scope for Troy‘s trademark guitar theatricals, but it did facilitate interaction with the audience: Troy took full advantage by occasionally stepping right into the crowd, though how he found space to get through the tightly packed front rows is still beyond me! As always, Chip had entered the stage flamboyantly dressed, looking larger than life, with his big ass glasses and large cap."

Empyre Strikes Back 19/2/19

Today's Video Of The Day is Empyre, who perform intense, atmospheric Rock, with a dark and introspective edge to their writing. In the words of BBC Introducing their music ranges from “Triumphant, chest beating Rock” to more subtle but just as arresting numbers inviting you to do the deepest of soul searching. This is a gritty, lyrically engaging and profound style of Rock music you have not heard before. Consisting of Henrik Steenholdt - vocals and guitar, Did Coles - lead guitar, Jack Bowles - drums and Grant Hockley - bass, they are on the road with Blackwater Conspiracy for three dates in early March, followed by a tour in May and June with Ryders Creed, The Rocket Dolls and Thirteen Stars.

The Only Thing I Need 18/2/19

2017 WRC 'One's To Watch' award winners Stone Broken have released a brand new remixed version of ‘The Only Thing I Need’ - taken from their current studio album 'Ain’t Always Easy'. The track has been given a fresh arrangement by renowned UK engineer/producer Adrian Hall, who has previously worked with such artists as Alicia Keys, The Clash, Robbie Williams & Goldfrapp. For some, these deep winter months can be tough to take, but the band offer us a glimpse of brighter days in their heart-warming, nostalgia-inducing clip for the song - today's Video Of The Day. The Midlands quartet spent much of 2018 gigging hard, playing non-stop in the UK, Europe and the USA in support of 'Ain’t Always Easy', and 2019 sees them continuing down the live path, headlining sixteen dates across the UK and Ireland, including London's O2 Islington Academy this Friday with support from Those Damn Crows.

Kill Or Get Killed! 17/2/19

On Friday 8th March, a staple in the Hanseatic Metal-Institution, Iron Savior, will unleash their martial titled album 'Kill Or Get Killed!', with ten brand new killer songs, on an unsuspecting world. It was back in 1996 that multi-talented artist Piet Sielck, who made a mark among others as a guitarist and producer, first founded his solo project. The line-up carousel rotated steadily, but over the years, the band continuously and relentlessly released nine albums, a live CD/DVD and their best of 'Reforged: Riding The Fire'. Chart entries 'Titancraft' and 'Heavy Metal Never Dies' were indicative of the Hamburg based band - the capital of Teutonic Power Metal - with their classic, infectious Melodic Heavy Metal sound.

The New Normal 17/2/19

Last month saw the release of ’The New Normal’, the latest solo album by former Alice Cooper guitarist Kane Roberts. Not only does his former boss sing on the new single taken from it, ’Beginning Of The End’ (today's Track Of The Day), but Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy also joins in the fun…. and they both co-star with Roberts in the song's cinematic video. The mini–action movie sees the trio wreaking all sorts of havoc together while singing the propulsive cut. Of all the iconic 1980’s Rock ’N’ Roll in concert images, one of the most memorable is Alice Cooper’s Rambo-alike guitarist and his M-60 machine gun guitar. That musician is Roberts, an accomplished writer and singer in his own right, who went on to record four solo albums (including the ‘Phoenix Down’ project released via Frontiers Music in the late 90’s). ‘The New Normal’ re-introduces a unique artist ready to return to the spotlight. Melding the old and new in Metal on an outstanding album, it is not to be missed.

No Soul/No Control 17/2/19

The "Queen of Rock 'N' Roll" Suzi Quatro released her first new single and video for the song 'No Soul/No Control' last Friday - today's Video Of The Day! The American musician has been in the music business for more than 50 years, delivering her greatest hits such as ‘Can The Can’, ‘48 Crash’, ‘If You Can't Give Me Love’, 'She's In Love With You' and ‘Devil Gate Drive’ with unbridled energy. Suzi has recorded eleven new songs (plus two bonus tracks) on her new album, of which she plans to debut a couple of tracks amongst her greatest hits during her major UK/Australian/European tour this year including London's Wembley SSE Arena on Thursday 11th April.

Love Remains 16/2/19

Tal Wilkenfeld's debut vocal album, 'Love Remains' is set for a Friday 15th March release via BMG. The 10-song collection explores love, loss, and life through a poetic blend of Tal’s lyrics, storytelling and masterful musicianship. Tal's written a confronting album that alludes to complex and tragic romance. With a thick bass line and steady, punching drums that carry on throughout and frame the expressive lyrics, the angsty anthem 'Killing Me' (today's Track Of The Day) premiered via Billboard and is out now. Joined by her three-piece band: drummer Tamir Barzilay, guitarist Owen Barry and keyboardist Chris Price, Tal will headline shows that preview songs from 'Love Remains' at LA’s Moroccan Lounge this Wednesday 20th February and NYC’s Mercury Lounge on Monday 4th March and Tuesday 5th March (sold out).

Valentine's Day Massacre 15/2/19

Last night on Valentine's Day at Camden's The Lounge 666 in London, Enuff Z’nuff proved that they are the living, breathing example of what a Rock ‘n' Roll group should be! Now centered around bass player and vocalist Chip Z’nuff, Enuff Z’nuff showed that they are still alive and kicking in front of a legion of loyal fans, who couldn’t get enough of the band’s power Pop melded with Hard Rock stylings. The gig, originally meant to be across the road at The Underworld, also saw great support from The Last Great Dreamers and Hellshed. With a review and a Photo Gallery to come, today check out our Video Of The Day from last night.

The Gospel Truth 15/2/19

Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke recently signed a global deal with Golden Robot Records which will see a brand new solo album - 'The Gospel Truth' - due to be released in the first half of 2019. This will be Gilby’s first in over fifteen years! An old school mash-up of Keef, Johnny Thunders and B.B. King, Gilby’s new album is full of fist-pumping Rock ’n’ Roll songs with fat choruses, Bluesy licks and trademark solos! The album also features drumming from legendary John Mellencamp and Chickenfoot sticksman Kenny Aronoff plus Stephen Perkins from Jane’s Addiction, Porno For Pyro and Infectious Grooves. It’s Classic Rock, a new version of what Gilby likes to do and that’s… loud guitars!

HRH Metal IV Killer Deal 14/2/19

Mat Kerekes Diamonds 14/2/19

Best known as the lead vocalist of the cult Alt-Rock band Citizen, the Ohio-based singer-songwriter Mat Kerekes has shared his new single ‘Diamonds’ - today's Track Of The Day. The track is the second single to be taken from his upcoming solo album 'Ruby' after the title track was released in December last year. Mixing the intimate with the anthemic, ‘Diamonds’ transcends the lo-fi, acoustic-based recording style of his previous solo releases in favour of a sharper Pop edge that offers a modern take on timeless Rock sonics. It also sees Kerekes showcasing his versatility as a singer-songwriter, incorporating elements of Pop and Alternative, complemented by massive choruses, dynamic arrangements and infectious melodies.

Enuff Z’nuff continues to tour and record relentlessly and their last album 'Diamond Boy' showed once again what a truly gifted hard/power Pop act they are. With no shortage of hooks and awesome songs, 'Diamond Boy' is another gem in Enuff Z’Nuff’s crown!

Electric Mary CD Review 13/2/19

"From the longest to the shortest track on the album. Their single 'Woman' sees Spyda picking up the pace, as Rusty steps back into Plant mode, not to be outdone by the fuzzy Montrose sounding tones of Pete and Brett. A real stormer to finish off the album, which was engineered and mixed by Ricki Rae. To quote Brown "Music has always had something to say when it comes to relationships. This is two and a half minutes of rip-roaring Rock that delivers the punchline." Can't argue with that Rusty. Just the eight tracks then, with a running time of 35 minutes, from a kickass band with badass sound. But definitely a case of Hard/Blues/Stoner Rock quality not quantity, with oodles of extra scope for taking all these classic tracks that extra mile during their killer live shows. A consummate win win and a real Mother of a Rock album. Hail Mary."

Melbourne Rock band Electric Mary release their fourth studio album ‘Mother’ this Friday 15th February via Listenable Records. Read the whole of AJ's review here plus check out our Video Of The Day.

King King + Sari Schorr Koko Review 11/2/19

"We’re celebrating our tenth anniversary", says Alan and announces 'Rush Hour' from what is arguably their breakthrough album 'Reaching For The Light' from 2015. The believers sing along with the power ballad unbidden from the top. Other bands have to make an effort to get the punters to sing along, not King King fans, they just do it. I remember Robbie Williams at Live 8 trying to get people to sing along and looking miffed that they weren’t doing it. Mate, we’re not here to see YOU we’re here to see FLOYD!!! We’re gonna stay here with our arms folded and NOT sing along to bloody 'ANGELS'. Not if you paid us. Alan realises there’s some old fans here tonight and welcomes them. “To the newcomers - welcome to hell!” With that we get 'Heed The Warning' another appeal for the world to get it’s shit together before it’s too late. Some thoughtful stuff going on here."

Collateral Black Heart Review 10/2/19

"Their recent ‘4 Shots’ EP, that has brought them recent acclaim, got its first airing, appropriately at song four, with the opener ‘Going With The Wind’ - in my opinion the best track off the EP. ‘Just Waiting For You’ dropped a couple of songs later, again to great applause from an appreciative audience. Three new songs ‘Promise Land’, ’Merry Go Round’ and ’Lullaby’ followed, which are set to be featured on their forthcoming album, with the former having that stand out anthem feel about it. All sounding very promising!"

Take Good Care 8/2/19

Despite the fact, as they said on Wednesday, that Manchester will always be their "European first", The Revivalists thankfully touched down for the first time in London last night with an almighty bang at a sold out 100 Club. Since they released their very first album 'Vital Signs' in 2010, we have been waiting for these guys to head on over the pond - and, as expected, it was worth the wait! After finally breaking through in 2017 with their platinum hit 'Wish I Knew You', the band kept the momentum going with another successful single 'All My Friends', taken from their latest album 'Take Good Care', hence their current 'Take Good Care' European tour. With great support from BarlowLN and a Photo Gallery to come, check out today's Video Of The Day.

Tonight: King King + Sari Schorr 7/2/19

King King's 2019 10-date UK tour stops off at London's Koko tonight with American Blues Rock vocalist Sari Schorr as special guest. Having played over 20 festivals this summer, the band recently finished the UK leg of their special guest slot on Europe’s 'Tour The Earth' plus the European mainland leg of the tour. In May last year King King won three prestigious awards at the UK Blues Awards including Blues Band of the Year, Blues Songwriter of the Year (Alan Nimmo) and Blues Album of the Year for their fourth studio album 'Exile & Grace', which scored a Top 40 hit in the Official UK Album Charts and featured the singles '(She Don’t) Gimme No Lovin’, 'Long Time Running' and 'Broken' which became popular on Planet Rock and other Rock radio stations.

Tonight: The Revivalists 7/2/19

After breaking through in 2017 with their platinum hit 'Wish I Knew You', The Revivalists (Track Of The Day) kept the momentum going with another successful single 'All My Friends', taken from their latest album 'Take Good Care'. To celebrate its release, lead singer/guitarist David Shaw, guitarists Zack Feinberg and Ed Williams, drummer Andrew Campanelli, bassist George Gekas, saxophonist Rob Ingraham and percussionist PJ Howard have finally headed over the pond on their 'Take Good Care' tour, stopping off at London's iconic 100 Club tonight.

Tonight: Collateral 7/2/19

"The ‘4 Shots’ EP kicks off with the solid ‘Going With The Wind’ cool guitar riffs, mixed nicely under the vocal lines and strong melody. Second up, the AOR tinged ‘Angels Crying’, with hints of Nashville’s new Country-Rock acts which could see the cigarette lighter being raised on this one. In at number three ‘Just Waiting For You’ - one that I would cast as the best song of the four. Very well arranged and the hooks vocal and musically in all the right places! Last of the four shots ‘Midnight Queen’ - quiet easily the commercial radio single with its outright catchy chorus lines." That was our review of Collateral's '4 Shots' EP, and the guys subsequently walked away with our 2018 WRC 'One's To Watch' award. So do not miss them when they play Camden's The Black Heart in London tonight at 8.30pm.

Shepherd's Bush Empire Photo Gallery 6/2/19

"The next band, City Of Thieves, announce themselves offstage with a low drone and stride on to huge applause - obviously these guys are better known to this crowd, preaching to the already converted. Well, they have been around for three years now, and a bit more under their previous moniker Four Wheel Drive. C.O.T. are one of those rare beasts - the Metal power trio. Well, OK, apart from Motorhead. There’s probably some more. Anyway, they’re immediately great. The songs have a sheen of polish that reminded me of 'Load' period Metallica which is no bad thing. Indeed, on one of guitarist Ben Austwick’s Marshall speaker cabinets the word “Marshall” has been turned into “Lars”. Coincidence? Accident? You decide." That was part of Pete Elphick's take on City Of Thieves' Shepherd's Bush Empire, London, gig last Friday (pictured), and you can read the rest of Pete's Blind River + Inglorious gig review here plus check out Bruce Biege's Photo Gallery today here.

Black Diamonds 6/2/19

British singer/songwriter Matt Mitchell & The Coldhearts is back with a new self titled group debut album 'Black Diamonds', which was released last Monday. Not one to hold back with his writing and performance, the former Furyon and Colour Of Noise frontman describes the title track (today's Video Of The Day) as being about an “inevitable ending”, and consequently the songs on the album reflect real human experience, passion and great songs that hold potency, diversity and purpose. It's a modern contemporary Rock record that holds its own and then some; it digs deep and looks set to be a highlight of the year for Rock music. 'Black Diamonds' was voted Number One in Louder's 'Tracks Of The Week' and received extensive airplay by the likes of Kerrang! Radio, Great Music Stories and more. In addition, Planet Rock Radio has added the song to their prestigious A-List.

Inglorious Shepherd's Bush Review 5/2/19

"One of the new boys is lead guitarist Danny Dela Cruz. This guy is going to end up getting a LOT of attention and deservedly so because (pardon my French) HE’S FUCKING AMAZING! Fast and fluid and fiery, he’s a perfect fit for the band. Where did Nathan find HIM? I did some research on YouTube and there’s a video of Danny in his old covers band Metalworks playing Led Zep’s 'Rock & Roll' and tearing it up at a pub called The Monarch here in London about a year ago. There’s another bloke filming him too. Guess who. Anyway, Danny looks amazing too, it’s like Prince’s little brother is up on that stage.  He’s in a black crushed velvet jacket (all I can think is - aren’t you hot mate?) and chunky silver jewellery. You can’t go about wearing that kind of stuff unless you can play your bollocks off. And this kid plays his bollocks off. Yes, I said kid - for Dany Dela Cruz is all of 19 years old and he’s arrived in style."

Something Quite Peculiar 5/2/19

The Church’s ‘Under The Milky Way’ is one of the great Australian anthems. But for the man who wrote it, success became a portal into a world of sex, drugs and Rock ’n’ Roll that almost destoyed his life. Something Quite Peculiar: The Life & Times Of Steve Kilbey - a film directed by Mike Brook - is being shown at London's Regent Street Cinema as part of the Soundscreen Festival on Friday 22nd March at 8.30pm followed by a Q&A with the man himself. By any metric Steve Kilbey, frontman of Oz Rock pioneers The Church, has been one of Australia’s most prolific and influential musicians. Over 40 years he’s released more that 750 songs across almost 50 albums, earning himself endless accolades and a place in the ARIA Hall of Fame.  But most people know him for his 1988 international hit, ‘Under The Milky Way’ – a self-described “accident”, which kickstarted a lost decade of heroin addiction and would eventually cost him and his family and almost his mind. Following its screening, Steve is also playing a show at London's The Islington the night after and at Brighton's The Brunswick on Sunday 24th March.

Jessica Foxley Stages has teamed up with The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, Colne, Lancashire, to offer young, under-the-radar acts the opportunity to play the main stages at the festival, that takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend of 23rd - 25th August. Applications to play the Jessica Foxley Stages are now open here and close on Wednesday 20th March. Four bands/artists will be chosen, in total, to each play one slot. The judges are seeking acts with a ‘Blues leaning’, with originality, creativity, technical ability, musical compatibility to the festival, and entertainment value being at the core of their choices. The Jessica Foxley Stages' focus is on supporting musicians up to the age of 25. As a minimum, the lead musician in a band must be aged 25 or under on 31st August 2019. In addition to this, one of the four chosen festival acts will be nominated to be part of the UK Blues Challenge 2019.

Legendary guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen releases his new album 'Blue Lightning' on Friday 29th March on Mascot Records. Only a few guitarists are known with only their first name. Yngwie is one of them. With 'Blue Lightning', Malmsteen highlights not only his enduring dexterity and diversity, but also pays homage to those from the Blues and Rock worlds who have fuelled his artistic spirit for so long. Anyone who is expecting Yngwie to copy exactly the way the original versions sound is in for a shock. Because that is not what he has done. He has masterfully transformed classics like 'Smoke On The Water', 'Purple Haze' and 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' into his own inimitable style, plus wrote and recorded four new new tracks, one of which, 'Sun's Up Top's Down', is today's Track Of The Day'.

"It’s a shorter set than their headline one (obviously), but no less powerful, it packs some punch and still showcases their considerable talent. Set closers ‘Holy Water’ sees Drew switch to a fabulous Fender Telecaster for a slower Bluesier groove whilst their radio hit ‘Until I Die’ is rightfully saved for their finale. Great stuff. I look forward to see them hitting the stage at Download later this year. They will go down a storm there just as they did tonight." That was part of our take on Inglorious just down the road at Hammersmith Apollo (pictured) supporting Steel Panther last year, and their since changed line up headline the Shepherd's Bush Empire tonight at 9.30pm supported by Frontiers stable mates City Of Thieves at 8.30pm (Video Of The Day) and Blind River at 7.30pm.
