Myke Gray Underworld Review 28/2/20
"The song's growing crescendo ends abruptly to leave Kim to finish off the last few bars with her clear plaintiff voice. The white Tele is swapped for a similarly coloured Flying V for 'Colourblind' with a staccato guitar intro which leads into some choppy Pop Rock whereas 'Take Me Down' is a headbanging chugging Rock riff monster overlaid with Myke's intricate fingerpicking and full band backing on vocals. Kim forays out on to a small balcony to balance precariously above the crowd, posing for photos to a powerful Rock backing. Okay, it’s only 3 feet off the ground but that’s a long way up for some people. And it didn’t stop her jumping into the crowd to Rock along amongst them."
Today read the whole of Mother's take here on Myke Gray and Kim Jennett who stopped off at London's Underworld in Camden on Sunday night, half way through their UK tour, supported by The Howling Tides, plus check out our Photo Gallery here.

With a Photo Gallery and a review to come, in the meantime check out today's Video Of The Day.

Molly Karloff EP Review 27/2/20
"Their title track was written using a baritone guitar, and right from its opening riff, the addictive hook and aggressive vocal immediately slaps you around the face (think The Offspring), setting the tone and hooks for a real foot stomping head banging groove and chorus, that takes a dig at hypocritical attitudes to drug addiction in society. Their first single released last month, 'She Said', is an infectious Hard Rock collision reminiscent of The Brew meets Black Orchid Empire (check them both out as well), with its swirling guitars intro, melodic verses, cool wah riff, punchy chorus and soaring vocals. Ironically its subject matter is all about perseverance, although you won't have to worry about that as its a track you will want to play over and over again."
Today read AJ's complete take here on Molly Karloff's new EP 'Supernaturalation' which will be released next Friday 6th March, plus in advance of its release they are hosting a Launch Party tonight at London's The Black Heart in Camden with support from Spidervayne (7.45pm) and Black Tree Vultures (8.40pm).
Leaf Hound Eel Pie Tonite 27/2/20
Cult Rock band, Leaf Hound (Video Of The Day) is playing the Eel Pie Club tonight at The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ. Led by original vocalist, Peter French (also of Atomic Rooster fame who we recently saw headlining London's iconic 100 Club - pictured), Leaf Hound was a product of the SW London Rock scene of the late 60's which spawned the likes of Free and other Blues-Rock acts. Their 1971 'Growers of Mushroom' album has achieved massive cult status and French's reputation as a potent lead vocalist also led him to a stint with Carmine Appice's US band, Cactus. Leaf Hound was reformed in 2004 and since then the band has re-issued 'Growers of Mushroom', recorded a new album, 'Unleashed', and released a Leaf Hound 'Live in Japan' CD/DVD. Doors open at 8.15pm with music from 9-11pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted admission.

Novatines Voodoo Tonight 26/2/20
"Dressed in Hawaiian shirts, beards and flowing locks, the boys could be 70’s throwbacks or 2017 hipsters. Either way they nail that Zeppelin Grunge mix with rocking guitar, harmonies, and an intent to party. Tracks include 'Joy Ride' - dedicated to their van which broke down on the way to the venue - 'Hate, Love', their first single and 'Never Enough', a slow Rock track full of attitude. Their new single, 'Come Alive', is an upbeat radio friendly rocker whilst closer 'Silver Screen' is a slow starter that smoulders into life as a hot rocker. A good set from an up and coming band that is doing the touring circuit and getting the attention of both Classic Rock magazine's ‘High Hopes’ feature and Planet Rock magazines." That was part of our take on Novatines when we saw them supporting Sweet in London at Christmas (Video Of The Day), and tonight they return to Islington, this time at the O2 Academy, whilst also tonight, Voodoo Lake are live in London at The Cavern in Raynes Park.

Dream Theater Apollo Review 24/2/20
"Tonight (indeed; this tour), in order to fully mark the milestone, we get ‘Scenes’ in totality. I’ve said before I am a great fan of complete album performances, and DT are no strangers to it themselves, with ‘Images and Words’ having had an ‘in full’ 25thanniversary outing in 2017, along with ‘The Astonishing’ on its promo tour in 2016. And that’s before you consider their ‘cover albums’ series (‘Master of Puppets’, ‘The Number of the Beast’, ‘Made in Japan’, and ‘Dark Side of the Moon’), which were all live performances – ‘DSotM’ being recorded in the very venue we’re back at this evening - oddly, my 6throw seat tonight is pretty much where I sat that evening in October 2005."
Today read the whole of Mark C's take on Dream Theater's Hammersmith Eventim Apollo gig in London last Friday night here plus check out our Photo Gallery here.
Fuctifano Babies 24/2/20
UK Punk legends Peter And The Test Tube Babies are back with their latest and greatest set of recordings, 'Fuctifano', which will be released on Friday 6th March via Arising Empire, of which their single 'Queen Of F***ing Everything' is today's Video Of The Day. Remember the 70’s and Glam Rock? Well it’s back, on the right track and in yer face, as they share their love of that era with a homage to Sweet, Slade and T. Rex, combining all the colourful glittery pomp of Glam with the darker edge of Punk Rock. Since 1978, vocalist Peter Bywaters and guitarist Del Greening have always remained the Babies foundation, and they are celebrating with a party on release night at Berlin's Quasimodo with 2018 recruits Nick Abnett on bass and Sam Fuller on drums.
Noble Jacks Enjoy The Ride 24/2/20

With more tour dates to be announced soon, their launch party will be the Jacks’ biggest-ever, an indoor headline show on Saturday 28th March at The Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells.

John Verity opened the year with an appearance at Giants of Rock in Minehead, before releasing his new album 'Passion', that was released on Valentine's Day (naturally), and tonight JV is playing London's Pizza Express in Soho at 8pm. Meanwhile, also in London tonight, Napalm Death (Track Of The Day) is playing the Electric Brixton, with support from Eyehategod, Misery Index and Rotten Sound. Hailing from the West Midlands, they helped establish the sound of Grindcore in the late 80's, combining bludgeoning Thrash/Death Metal with Hardcore Punk to create their uniquely brutal sonic assault, helping to influence the next generation of heavy music.
Scenes From An Apollo Memory 22/2/20
Nearly three years after we last saw them, Dream Theater returned to London's Hammersmith Apollo last night for the first of two nights as part of their Distance Over Time Tour - Celebrating 20 Years of 'Scenes From A Memory', which saw the band perform a full and complete 3-hour set! Indeed, both shows were/are being flmed for future release and the band's request for their fans to make themselves heard did not fall on deaf ears - an opportunity, as they also said, for us to immortalise ourselves in Dream Theater concert film history! In the meantime check out today's Video Of The Day!
Ealing Club Photo Gallery 22/2/20
With a review to come, please check out today our initial Photo Gallery here of Thursday night's Blues Review featuring Jim Kahr, taken at the original Ealing Club - the Birthplace of British Rhythm and Blues. An Evening With Dream Theater 21/2/20
"The encore was the 25 minute suite 'A Change of Seasons'. A fitting end - this was recorded around the time of 'Images and Words' but was released separately. The near sell out crowd lapped it all up and before long it was all over and we were spilling out into the London night. This was Prog Metal at its finest and was as good as this author has seen them. If you get the chance to catch them live - do it!!" That was part of our review, the last time we saw Dream Theater nearly three years ago, and tonight they return to London's Hammersmith Apollo for their Distance Over Time Tour - Celebrating 20 Years of 'Scenes From A Memory', which will see the band perform a full and complete 3-hour set!

H.E.A.T CD Review 20/2/20
"It's fair to say therefore, that H.E.A.T don’t hide their love for their Classic Rock. Indeed some might accuse of them being cheesy, and inevitably, copying their heroes. However, as The Jam once put it: "The public gets what the public wants" and the fist pumping chorus of singalong 'Victory', which continues the pace with its classic guitar/organ riff, is not only proof that they’re young, ambitious and full of energy and ideas, but it also gives another generation the opportunity to re-discover the melodic approach to Hard Rock with bands such as Foreigner, Journey and Whitesnake, even though big hair and leathers are no longer mandatory!"
Today read AJ's complete take here on H.E.A.T's new CD 'H.E.A.T II' which will be released tomorrow, plus check out today's Video Of The Day of their latest single 'Dangerous Ground'.
Jim Kahr Blues Review Tonight 20/2/20

Indeed, the venue is sacred ground - the original premises where Alexis Korner and Cyril Davies started out in 1962! Hosted by The Paul Cook Blues Band, there will also be sets from special guests Robert Hokum, Emma Wilson and Half Moon Panic.

Ginger Baker Tribute Photo Gallery 19/2/20
Check out today our Photo Gallery here from Monday night at London's Hammersmith Eventim Apollo - as the cream of Rock turned out to pay tribute to Peter Edward 'Ginger' Baker - a one-time only concert from Eric Clapton to celebrate the musical life of his dear friend. It was certainly a case of quality not quantity, as the 100 minute set list honoured Baker's lifetime in music and included Clapton and Baker's work together in Cream and Blind Faith. Cue performances from Paul Carrack, Steve Winwood, Roger Waters, Nile Rodgers, Ronnie Wood, Kofi Baker, Kenney Jones and Will Johns, amongst others, of which the highlights were Clapton and Wood performing 'Badge' (Video Of The Day) plus a Kofi drum solo that his old man would have truly been proud of.

For Peter Edward 18/2/20
Appropriately the cream of Rock turned out last night at London's Hammersmith Eventim Apollo - a tribute to Peter Edward 'Ginger' Baker - a one-time only concert from Eric Clapton to celebrate the musical life of his dear friend. The set list for the concert honoured Baker's lifetime in music and included Clapton and Baker's work together in Cream and Blind Faith. Cue performances from Paul Carrack, Steve Winwood, Roger Waters, Nile Rodgers, Ronnie Wood, Kofi Baker, Kenney Jones and Will Johns, amongst others, in a fitting tribute, that was also in aid of Leonard Cheshire, a charity close to the Baker family, that offers life changing support to disabled people around the world.
Never The Bride CD Review 18/2/20
"The opener kicks off with ‘Love Finds The Young And Old’, a mid-pace Blues rocker, which has a Bon Jovi anthemic feel about it, leads us to a quick genre switch with song two, ‘Web Of The Stranger’, the Bond themed number that Nikki adopts Shirley Bassey style phasing. In at three - ‘For Better For Worse’ - eases us in like a Sunday morning with a Blues ballad, where Nikki reaches for her heartfelt inner Janis (yes, Joplin) backed smoothly by Been’s sensitive piano pieces. So, we move swiftly on to what I’m calling the top number of album! ‘Don’t Trudge Mud In The House of Love’ - a title Seasick Steve would easily accommodate - with this deep down and dirty Blues rocker that should be top of every Blues DJ’s playlist -end of!"
Today read Geoff C's complete take here on Never The Bride's CD 'For Better For Worse' plus check out today's Video Of The Day.

Felix Rabin EP Review 17/2/20
"Everything has moved up several notches here - the writing, the playing, the mood, the singing and the production all sound like the proud work of a young man taking his first steps into greatness rather than a precocious boy who’s been studying SRV in his bedroom. The feel of it puts me in mind of John Mayer’s ‘Heavier Things’ - a laid back vibe of Blues-but-not-Blues where the songs are given space to shine and subtle shades of brass pop up here and there for colour. It’s interesting how brass is used on this EP, sometimes it’s way in your face like on Gary Moore’s ‘Back To The Blues’ album and other times it’s more in laid back Miles Davis ‘Blue In Green’ territory. Whoever arranged it has done a fine job. That’s not to say Felix has put that Strat back in the case - the subject of death makes a return on the slow burner called, um, ‘Death’ where Felix gets all Gary Moore on yo’ ass, accompanied by those mournful muted trumpets."
Today read Pete Elphick's complete take here on Felix Rabin's' new EP 'Pogboy', due out on Friday 17th April, plus check out today's Video Of The Day of 'Moving On'.
Ginger Baker Apollo Tribute Tonight 17/2/20
"The legendary Ginger Baker, now 78 years young, returned to his home city last Tuesday night - albeit North of the Thames for this Lewisham lad. Baker, of course made his big break as a the inspirational drummer and founder of Cream and played with them from 1966 until they disbanded in 1968. Fifty years later Ginger was back tubthumping at Camden's Jazz Cafe, with his three Jazz amigos, namely percussionist Abass Dodoo (from Edmonton not Ghana), saxophonist Pee Wee Willis and on double bass and guitar Alec Dankworth (pictured). Unfortunately due to Ginger's well-documented health problems, it was quality rather than quantity including 'Ginger Spice', 'Cyril Davies' and 'Aïn Témouchent' - but the legends's anecdotes more than made up for the short setlist." That was the last time we saw Cream's Ginger Baker play in April 2018 (pictured) and following the iconic drummer's death at the age of 80 at the beginning of October last year, Eric Clapton & Friends - a tribute to Baker - takes place at London's Hammersmith Eventim Apollo tonight.
Crown Lands Spit It Out 17/2/20
Crown Lands are a really exciting powerhouse Rock duo hailing from Canada, and last Friday they released the video for their single ’Spit It Out’ (today's Track Of The Day), which is their first major label release and is the first taste of what’s to come from their forthcoming self-titled debut album. Crown Lands are Kevin Comeau (guitar, bass and keys) and Cody Bowles (vocals and drums), and together they bring a range of influences from Folk and Blues to Psychedelic to Prog and Rock. Drawing on their own intense personal chemistry, they are certainly creating something unique and fresh. Whilst only a two piece, their live presence is huge and their energetic shows have landing opening slots for major Rock acts like Jack White, Primus and Rival Sons. This May the band join Grammy award-nominated sister duo Larkin Poe on their European tour as support.
Long Voodoo Star Tonite 16/2/20

Well tonight, Matt & The Revenant Ones are appearing at The Star Inn in Guildford supported by NWOCR's Voodoo Lake, consisting of Dave Strange, Mark Bomber Randon and James Fileman, who we first introduced to you in December 2018.
Saiichi Selby At Green Note Tonight 16/2/20
"The Saiichi Sugiyama band took to the stage next, and showed that their take on classic British Blues Rock, which pulls in some intriguing influences including Cream, Motown and Stevie Wonder, has a significant upbeat, danceable side, as the Down & Outs and friends continued to take to the floor." That was part of our take on Saiichi Sugiyama at St. Paddy's Blues at the much missed Proud nearly four years ago (pictured and Video Of The Day), and Sugiyama returns to Camden tonight at The Green Note, accompanied by a mouthwatering line up that also includes Connor Selby, John O’Leary and Eddie Angel.
Electric Enemy Save Me 16/2/20
Electric Enemy recently released their latest single ‘Save Me’ (today's Track Of The Day), having enjoyed success with their debut ‘Climb’, which included features across Amazon and Spotify playlists and a personal invitation to open the Isle Of Wight Festival in 2019. They are a London-based band making music that you can’t help but be hooked by, with their driving guitar riffs met by perfectly crafted melodies, delivering a grown-up sound that cuts through the noise. The band have been busy in the studio working on their debut album with producer Sam Miller (Paloma Faith, Razorlight) and the collection of songs take the listener on a journey through Alternative Rock, Indie Pop and with more than one nod to an Electro-Pop sound that is playful in all the right places. Check them out at their two up and coming London gigs at The Waiting Room on Thursday 27th February, with The Hubbards as support, and then The Fiddler’s Elbow on Thursday 5th March.
Malone Sibun Boom Boom Tonite 15/2/20
"So all in all a nice listen, with Innes’ compositions faring best to these ears after the first few auditions, and definitely a band that I’ll hope to hear in a live setting (the album launch gig will be at the Boom Boom Club in Sutton on Saturday 15th February)." That was part of our take on Malone Sibun's debut album 'Come Together' released last month, and indeed tonight it's time for their album launch gig at Sutton's Boom Boom Club.

Hip Priests Photo Gallery 15/2/20
Hip Priests supported Supersuckers on the first night of their seven-date UK tour at London's 100 Club last Sunday, so today check out additional pictures in our Photo Gallery here (courtesy of Bruce Biege). Fiercely independent and tirelessly driven, the ‘Priests' have preached their high energy sermon of misanthropy, hate, sex and contempt across tours of the UK, Europe and USA, and have made countless rapturously received festival appearances. Coinciding with their mighty 13th studio album ‘Play That Rock ‘N’ Roll’ released on Steamhammer/SPV on Friday 7th February, Supersuckers conclude their headline tour at Pershore's Iron Road tonight.
Beth Hart Apollo Gig Review 14/2/20
"Dressed in a full-length white dress the lady then proceeded to deliver a fantastic set that while, naturally showcasing numbers from her superb recent album ‘War In my Mind’, included a selection from across her impressive back catalogue. As well as being an excellent singer, with a powerful voice that, while often given full range, never descended into the sort of screeching wail that is used by lesser vocalists as a proxy for genuine emotion. Her songs all have a story to tell, many of them introduced with a short explanation of their genesis. The lyrical content was also coupled with gorgeous melodies that were sung alternately from centre stage or from stage right, sat at the piano, which she played with a real freedom of expression."
Today read the whole of Simon Green's take on Beth Hart's Hammersmith Eventim Apollo gig in London last Saturday night here (Video Of The Day) including an acoustic set from special guest Kris Barras.

Anchor Lane Black Heart Review 13/2/20
"Opening with an ominous, broody track similar in feel to a Black Rebel Motorcycle club tune, 'Dead Run' is about addiction, and set in motion an extremely fast-paced shorter set, a bit like listening to the opening four tracks of the Foo Fighters 'One by One' album. This is a band that just doesn't do slow-tempo."
Today read the whole of Ivan De Mello's take on Anchor Lane's album launch at Camden's The Black Heart in London on Thursday 30th January here, plus also check out our Video Of The Day and our Photo Gallery here.

Supersuckers 100 Club Photo Gallery 13/2/20
Supersuckers’ mighty 13th studio album ‘Play That Rock ‘N’ Roll’ was released last Friday on Steamhammer/SPV, and to coincide with its release, check out our Photo Gallery here (courtesy of Bruce Biege) of the first night of their seven-date UK headline tour at London's 100 Club last Sunday, which concludes at Pershore's Iron Road this Saturday 15th February. Tracked over the course of four sweltering days at Willie Nelson’s Austin, Texas, studio, ‘Play That Rock ‘N’ Roll’ rocks with an amphetamine intensity, delivering muscular riffs, big choruses and more than a few tricks up its sleeve. Raw, immediate and often times hilarious, it's an album a band makes after slugging it out on the road for thirty years (barring a one year hiatus while vocalist Eddie Spaghetti battled throat cancer).
Albert Cummings CD Review 12/2/20
"If, like me, you didn’t know much about Albert Cummings before hearing his latest killer album ‘Believe’ then listening to the opening track, the old Sam & Dave chestnut ‘Hold On I’m Coming’ will tell you almost everything you need to know: clearly this geezer from Massachusetts has good taste and is unafraid to not only tackle a much covered number but deliver a cracking performance that bears comparison with the energy of the original; he has the pipes for sure, which sets him apart from the majority of gunslingers out there, and his powerful tones handle this and other tunes on this excellent album as if he has been gargling jet fuel before breakfast for a number of years."
Today read Simon Green's complete take here on Albert Cummings' new album 'Believe', due out this Friday, plus check out today's Video Of The Day of his latest single 'Red Rooster'.
Black Heart Sweet Crisis Tonite 12/2/20
We not only first introduced you to Sweet Crisis in November 2018, but we then saw them open Maidstone's Ramblin' Man Fair Blues Stage last July (pictured), and tonight the contemporary Rock band from Cambridge, who best describe their music as "Soulful and Catchy Rock”, is playing London's Black Heart in Camden. Their musical influences are vast and include artists such as The Rolling Stones, Kings of Leon, Free, Stereophonics, Radiohead and Arcade Fire, to name a few! Sweet Crisis consists of Leo Robarts, lead vocals and guitar, Piers Mortimer, lead guitar, piano and vocals and Dave Cullen on drums. They have been writing, recording and performing music together now for over a decade, and their single 'Treading In Deep Water' was Classic Rock Magazine's Track Of The Week praising “A class tune. A catchy, sophisticated mix of piano-led Soul, 70's Southern vibes and Classic Rock & Roll.” Explosive and energetic live - do not miss them.

Never The Bride Camden Gig Review 11/2/20
"Part two opens with Catherine taking over the vocals and slipping on her 12-string guitar for ‘Mind How You Go’, which leads to a more up to date second half. Track of the night for me is the excellently titled ‘Don’t Trudge Mud In The House Of Love’ with it’s dirty Blues/Rock groove followed by ‘Young & Old’, ’The Girls Are Back In Town’ (No, not a Thin Lizzy spin), ’Loser’, Led Zep’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’, ’Tiger Bay’ and ‘Life On Mars?’ for the encore. Entertainment accomplished and the crowd left thoroughly appreciative with what they’d experienced and a shot of Nikki’s tequila."
Today read the whole of Geoff C's take on Never The Bride at Camden's The Green Note in London on Saturday night here, plus also check out our Video Of The Day.
A Genesis In My Bed 11/2/20
This July sees the publication of A Genesis In My Bed – the long overdue autobiography from guitar great and former member of Genesis, Steve Hackett. As with his music, Steve has written a highly detailed, entertaining and embracing tome that charts his life in full, but with a firm emphasis on his years with Genesis that saw the band’s meteoric rise to become one of the most successful British bands of all time. Steve talks candidly about his early life, his time with Genesis, and in particular his personal relationships with the other four band members, with great insight into the daily goings on of this major Rock band. Naturally, A Genesis In My Bed also regales stories of Steve’s career since leaving Genesis and the many different journeys that it has taken him on. With his flair for the creative, and a great deal of levity, A Genesis In My Bed is also a riveting read. Indispensable for Genesis fans but also essential for general music lovers and avid readers of autobiographies full of heartfelt and emotive tales. Steve will also embark upon his 22 date Seconds Out UK Tour this November.

They draw influence from across the Metal spectrum and beyond to tell their tales of demons, death, love and the peculiarities of the human condition. Both albums were made in collaboration with Sascha Paeth (Avantasia, Kamelot, Epica), with versatile vocalist Adrienne Cowan having recently been chosen by Paeth to front his band Sascha Paeth’s Masters Of Ceremony and is also one of the touring vocalists for Avantasia. Anyway, today's Video Of The Day, taken at that gig of 'I'm One', is dedicated to Colin and all his family at this very difficult time. You were certainly 'one' in a million Col and we will miss you terribly mate.

After releasing his latest album 'Rock N Roll: A Tribute to Chuck Berry' last year, Mike Zito will be touring the UK this April including London's iconic 100 Club on Wednesday 8th April. The album finds him broadening his boundaries still further, even as it marks a return to his roots, consisting of 20 Chuck Berry classics performed by Zito and an impressive array of 21 guest guitarists, including, significantly, Chuck’s grandson, Charles Berry III. He may be one of the most lauded artists in the contemporary Blues arena today, and rightfully so, but for the former member of Royal Southern Brotherhood, the thing that counts the most is maintaining his honesty, authenticity and integrity. Those are the qualities that have steered Zito’s career since the beginning and continue to define every effort he’s offered since.

Unlike their previous 'Mirrorworld' and 'Magic' releases, which are much more Hard Rock, 'Suite 226' features more driving guitars, catchy hooks and finest riffing, similar to their other album, 'As Daylight Breaks'. Following their third album, 'Magic', a concept album about the story of mysterious Mr. Nightmist, a witch and a lot of magic, 'Suite 226' also tells a complete narrative of a mentally confused man who is torn between his own dreamworld, reality and evil.

Waiting For Monday is a Melodic Rock band formed by Los Angeles based singer Rudy Cardenas and guitarist/vocalist August Zadra who release their eponymous debut album next Friday 14th February, including 'End Of A Dream', today's Track Of The Day. Originally from Venezuela, Cardenas is an incredible vocal talent. His pipes carried him all the way to the finals of American Idol and he has been heard on numerous TV shows and movies. Zadra is best known for handling lead guitar and vocal duties in the solo band of iconic singer Dennis DeYoung. Guitar playing has been a passion since his teens and has taken him from Fairbanks, Alaska to Hollywood, California, where he has been in the music scene for two decades and is often sought out as a guitarist/vocalist collaborator for recording projects. The band line-up is completed by Walter Ino (guitar and keyboards), Eric Baines (bass) and Joe Travers (drums).

It's a real Heavy Rock anthem in the spirit of Wishbone Ash classics such as ‘The Warrior’, featuring awesome guitar sounds that their fans will love. ‘Coat Of Arms’, while still heavily featuring Wishbone Ash’s characteristic twin lead guitar licks, haunting melodies and distinctive stylistic facets, is anything but retrospective and evenly balances the past, present and future with a huge breath of fresh air.

Nells Arthur Brown Weekend Gig Review 3/2/20
"The band sounded well rehearsed and executed the songs with unbridled passion and vigour! The set kicked off in style with some far-out Psychedelic exploration in the form of 'Bubbles' and 'Phoenix Rising', before the entire side one of the 1968 ‘The Crazy World of Arthur Brown’ album was played, including the songs 'Nightmare', 'Fire Poem', 'Fire', 'Come and Buy', 'Time' and 'Confusion'. Arthur was clearly enjoying himself, leaping, whirling and thrashing all over the stage whilst belting out the lyrics with the zeal and zest of a man half his age! Tall in stature and slim of build and quite obviously fit as a fiddle! The enticing 'Sunrise' from the 1971 Kingdom Come album ‘Galactic Zoo Dossier’ greeted us next. A cosmic and haunting performance with intense magisterial vocals from the Brown!"
Today read the whole of Steven C. Gilbert's take on The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown's two gigs at Nells Jazz & Blues Club in London over the weekend of 25th/26th January here, plus also check out our Video Of The Day.

The venue, which traces its history back to 1942, is the first to benefit from business rate relief but Westminster plans to extend it to other venues that qualify.
