The Devil's Turn 31/7/18

Leverage landed on Finland's Rock scene in 2006 with the release of their debut album, ‘Tides’, which generated a buzz with its blend of Symphonic and Progressive Metal and Melodic Hard Rock. They were signed by Frontiers in 2008 for the release of a second album, ‘Blind Fire’, with its follow-up, ‘Circus Colossus’, being issued via Spinefarm a year later. They became inactive soon after, but now, following nearly a decade in hibernation, Leverage is back with a new singer and guitarist, with a forthcoming digital EP, ‘The Devil’s Turn’ (see today's Video Of The Day) due to be released via Frontiers on Monday 27th August, serving as both an appetiser for a forthcoming album (out early 2019) and an introduction to the new line-up consisting of Kimmo Blom - vocals, Mikko Salovaara - guitars, Tuomas Heikkinen - guitars, Sami Norrbacka - bass, Valtteri Revonkorpi - drums and Marko Niskala - keyboards, who made their live debut recently at the John Smith Festival in Laukaa, Finland.

Aces High 30/7/18

The UK leg of Iron Maiden's much vaunted 'Legacy Of The Beast Tour' kicks off tomorrow in Newcastle with a Spitfire buzzing the stage during the opening number 'Aces High'. The plane is a 90% sized replica of an actual Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb registration number AA 853 from 302 Squadron that saw active duty in 1941. The UK tour continues in arenas in Belfast, Aberdeen, Manchester and Birmingham finishing with two nights at The O2 in London on Friday 10th/Saturday 11th August. Special guests at all UK shows are Killswitch Engage. The shows are all sold out but some Production holds will be released in the days before each show so fans who have missed out are advised to check the box offices nearer to show date.

Over My Shoulder 30/7/18

Groundbreaker is everything a Melodic Rock fan could wish for: soaring hooklines, magnificent melodies, amazing musical performances and, in Steve Overland, a stunning vocalist. Their debut album is due to be released on Frontiers on Friday 14th September and their first single 'Over My Shoulder' is today's Video Of The Day.  Mixing both British and Swedish Melodic Rock/AOR styles, the end result is truly the best of both worlds and surely destined to be one of the highlights of an already stellar year for Melodic Rock! As well as Overland, Groundbreaker also consist of Robert Sall – guitars, Nalley Pahlsson – bass, Herman Furin – drums and Alessandro Del Vecchio – keyboards, so if you like Melodic Rock, then this is simply a must hear album!

Kennedy and Sorriaux At Palladium Tonight 29/7/18

'Need To Love' is a fragile and ethereal song performed with eminent grace. Dorian's voice sounds quite emotionally exposed and vulnerable but with an honest and deep resonance, quite moving. The divine and graceful 'Hello My Friend', a song that recalls tragic American folk hero Jackson C. Frank, closes the EP with its lilting arpeggios and celestial vocals. These four songs reveal the striking talent of a young songwriter finally stepping into the limelight. Immediately following the EP's release, Sorriaux is set to play his first UK solo live shows supporting Myles Kennedy, culminating in a prestigious concert at the London Palladium on Sunday 29th July." That was part of our recent Dorian Sorriaux 'Hungry Ghost' EP review and indeed Dorian and Myles are performing at the London Palladium tonight.

Let It Wander 29/7/18

Circles Around The Sun explore new horizons on the band's upcoming double album, 'Let It Wander', due to be released on Friday 17th August  via Rhino. It's the first new music from the quartet since their acclaimed 2015 debut, 'Interludes For The Dead', so listen to their new track 'Immovable Object' which is today's Track Of The Day. Guitarist Neal Casal and keyboardist Adam MacDougall (bandmates in the Chris Robinson Brotherhood) along with bassist Dan Horne and drummer Mark Levy recorded seven instrumentals for 'Let It Wander' earlier this year at Castaway 7 Studios in California. Originally, Circles Around the Sun (CATS) was only supposed to record a handful of Grateful Dead-influenced instrumentals to be played during the set breaks at the Dead's "Fare Thee Well" concerts in 2015. But the response was so positive, and the band was having so much fun making music together, that they all agreed to keep it going.

Cahors Blues 29/7/18

"Groovy backing vocals then heralded Freddie KIng's 'Boogie Man' - a delightful, slower, gentler, version of his single from 'MOTR' - and an opportunity not only to appreciate Eric's evident vocal quality but another intense guitar solo that resulted in Eric's trademark baseball cap falling off! 'Boogie Man' was followed by 'Boogie Funk' - Raw Dawg once again nailing his impeccable credentials to the mast on his upside-down right-handed guitar before a perfect execution of Buddy Guy's delicious 'Baby Please Don't Leave Me' including our first real sniff of Hendrix with a snippet of 'Purple Haze'. That was part of our take the last time we saw Eric Gales Rockin' The Blues at London's Garage in March (pictured) - and we're indebted to our Swiss correspondent Marlenr Rivet who caught Eric performing with Paul Deslauriers this month at the Cahors Blues Festival  - today's Video Of The Day.

Stone The Crows! 28/7/18

"And finally, if you were looking for a glorious headbanger, then the second single off the album 'Not Your Enemy' did them proud. Suffice to say it's only January and we already we have a contender for 'Best Support' or 'One's To Watch' in our 2017 WRC Awards!" That was our take when we saw Stone Broken supporting Glenn Hughes at Islington Assembly Hall and consequently we also saw them at Ramblin' Man Fair in July plus supporting Living Colour at London's ULU in October and the guys in the end were deservedly voted 'One's To Watch' in our 2017 WRC Awards! Well we finally caught up the guys to present them with their award (pictured) the day before they blew the bloody doors off The Steelhouse Festival which they headlined last night!

Some Like It Hot 28/7/18

Not only was the London weather hot and stormy last night, but so was the music served up at The Big Red in Holloway Road. Following their explosive set at the end of May, headliner's City Of Thieves returned with their own brand of Heavy Rock in its purest form with no nonsense sledgehammer riffs, hooks and melodies. Not only was it free but City Of Thieves once again grabbed Rock by the scruff of its neck and give it a good shake, including their brilliant debut single 'Buzzed Up City' - think Airbourne meets AC/DC meets Wolfmother! Anyway, with their long anticipated debut album, entitled ‘Beast Reality’, due to be released on Friday 12th October - in the meantime check out today's Video Of The Day.

Moving On 28/7/18

The Rising will be doing a special performance and album signing in their hometown HMV in Belfast on Friday 3rd August at 5.30pm - the day they release their brand new album 'Moving On'. Recorded at the band's own Renegade Studios in Belfast and also at PlethoraTone Studios in Nashville - The Rising are best described as a Country Pop/Country Rock band. But they don’t like to be defined by any particular genre, and it is for this reason, plus a reflection of what they went through as a band during the making of this record and the progression of their music -  that their album is called 'Moving On'. Consisting of Chantelle McAteer – vocals, synths, keyboards, Chris Logan – guitars, banjo, piano and Brian Mellors – bass, synths, keyboards - check out their brand new song 'Rebound' which is today's Track Of The Day.

Big Red Thieves Again Tonight 27/7/18

The buzz has been spreading about City Of Thieves ever since they made their initial debut in 2015 and expectations were further backed up by their brilliant debut single 'Buzzed Up City' which was released in April. Following their explosive London gig at the end of May (pictured),  the guys return to The Big Red in Holloway Road tonight - and it's free! The group’s long anticipated debut album, entitled ‘Beast Reality’, is due to be released on Friday 12th October. Hope to see you there tonight!

Water Rats Rebels Tonight 27/7/18

Rising stars Broken Witt Rebels (Video Of The Day) play London's The Water Rats tonight and have also been confirmed to tour with Glastonbury rockers Reef; starting in November 2018, they will guest on 21 dates across the UK, preceded by a short European run in October. Broken Witt Rebels are: Danny Core (vocals), James Tranter (guitar), Luke Davis (bass) and James Dudley (drums). Hailing from Birmingham in the UK, the four are noted for brewing up a heady blend of Blues, soulful Americana and wailing Rock guitar, all of it served up with deeply emotive vocals. On the radio side, meanwhile, the ‘Loose Change’ single stormed the A-list at Planet Rock Radio, going on to become the most played track on the station. At the moment, they are preparing to release a new EP on CD and digital through Snakefarm Records on Friday 10th August. The lead track will be latest single, ‘Snake Eyes’, supported by ‘Wait For You’ plus two previously unreleased studio recordings.

Originally released in November last year, it was written by Philip with lyrics by Philis and Philip. Produced by Blue Gaucho Project, engineered by Craig Long and recorded at Paradise Studios, Sacramento, 100 % of its purchase price ($10) goes to the Sacramento Guitars 4 Vets Chapter. 'Brass Cricket' was inspired by a visit to Omaha Beach in Normandy, France, and reflects the use of the Brass Cricket as a signaling device for the 101st Airborne Division Paratroopers on June 5th/6th 1944.

The Loudest Silence 26/7/18

The symphonic Metal band from Sarajevo, The Loudest Silence, recently released worldwide their debut album ‘Aesthetic Illusion’. The band that represented Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries from ex-Yugoslavia at the Wacken Metal Battle as part of the Wacken Open Air festival in 2015, managed to host five guest musicians from different music genres on the hour long album, including Mark Jansen of the mighty Epica as an additional vocalist on the track ‘Gallery Of Wonders’. The opening track of the album and the first stepping stone of the concept is the song ‘Redemption’, which is today's Video Of The Day.

Atomic Rooster Pie Tonight 26/7/18

A very special treat at The Eel Pie Club tonight at The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW13SZ - the newly re-formed Atomic Rooster featuring two original members, Peter French on vocals and Steve 'Boltz' Bolton on guitar! Beautiful Days Ahead For Levellers 25/7/18

Iconic Folk-Punk band Levellers continue their rescheduled 30th anniversary UK tour, following the release of their Top 20 album 'We The Collective' earlier this year. The album saw the band transform classic tracks into new acoustic arrangements, resulting in their highest chart position in twenty years, and was met with widespread critical acclaim. On Sunday 19th August they headline their very own festival, Beautiful Days. Now in its 16th year, the festival has become a firm fixture on the calendar and is regularly acclaimed as one of the best festivals in the world, showcasing an incredible array of artists and remaining true to the founding principles of The Levellers. This year’s event sees Manic Street Preachers headline the previous night, with The Hive headlining on the Friday night. Joining them are artists including Gogol Bordello, Shed Seven, Feeder, British Sea Power, The Skids, Suzanne Vega, Calexico, Richard Thompson, Nadine Shah, The Wildhearts, Dub Pistols, Dreadzone and many, many more. Levellers also celebrate their 30th Anniversary with one of their smallest gigs in decades, playing London's iconic 100 Club on Thursday 6th September. Indeed, tickets for this performance sold out in less than 10 minutes of it being announced.

Bring Out Your Dead 25/7/18

Chandrian Kill are due to release their debut EP 'Bring Out Your Dead' (see today's Video Of The Day) on Friday 7th September. Consisting of three extraordinary tracks that deliver contemporary thought provoking Metal, their sound comes from the meeting of two creative British minds with a long history in Metal music, with strong doses of melodic invention added to the potent mix. Nic Whitmore, previously part of Number One Son, returns to the vocalist slot after a long break from music. Number One Son toured the UK widely and produced two well-regarded albums, but Nic was looking for a different kind of vehicle for his voice. He worked for a while with Seratonal's Gary Hill in Stonewall Silence, then took another break before teaming up with Ted Clark in the Chandrian Kill project. Ted himself, songwriter and guitarist for the band, is best known for his stints in Moesaboa and My Life In The Making. Ted started writing on his own for the Chandrian Kill project in 2016 and contacted Nic with some early demo tracks - finally getting together in Ted's studio in March 2018 to lay down the basic tracks.

Primal Fear's Apocalypse 24/7/18

‘Apocalypse’ is the twelfth studio album by Primal Fear (Video Of The Day) and another milestone release by one of the most loved and respected Heavy Metal bands in the world. Their previous two records, ‘Delivering The Black’ and ‘Rulebreaker’, saw them scale the charts in several territories and receive higher critical praise than ever, recognition that they have continued to raise the bar in terms of quality and musicianship, constantly pushing themselves to find new ways to better their previous output. ‘Apocalypse’ was recorded at Hansen Studios in Denmark with band co-founder and bassist Mat Sinner producing and engineering/mixing by Jacob Hansen. All three guitarists - Magnus Karlsson, Tom Naumann and Alex Beyrodt - shine thanks to Hansen’s mixing skills, while Ralf Scheepers again displays why he is one of the most outstanding Metal vocalist heroes of our time.

Steelhouse Festival Anyone? 23/7/18

If you're going to The Steelhouse Festival this Friday 27th July then we want to hear from you as we want a favour! It’s been seven years since the Welsh hills first came alive with the sound of Classic Rock. And like the towering, solid piece of stone it’s perched on, the Steelhouse Festival stands resolute – a seemingly immovable object on the festival landscape. Steelhouse 2018 looks set to be the biggest and best yet with Rock soldiers from far and wide making the uphill ascent for a bill that mixes the classic and the contemporary headlined over the three nights by Stone Broken, Glenn Hughes and Black Star Riders. Officially the UK’s highest music festival, this unique event will once again be held in the spectacular surroundings of Hafod-y-Dafal Farm situated on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons. Remember, if you're going then please e-mail us at wrinklyrockers11@aol.com

The Rules Have Changed 23/7/18

Following the release of '3' in 1988, a collaboration between Keith Emerson, Robert Berry and Carl Palmer, Robert Berry and Keith Emerson were at last collaborating on a new album - the last musical project in which Emerson was involved prior to his untimely passing in 2016. Several months later Berry (Video Of The Day) decided to go ahead and make the album they should have recorded together. The result is '3.2 The Rules Have Changed' - due to be released on Frontiers Music on Friday 10th August. The full-length album was recorded by Singer/multi-instrumentalist/producer Berry who played every instrument on it and features musical contributions, collaborations and compositions by Emerson.

Supersonic Blues Machine Review 22/7/18

"Then came the mini-set that most people had probably booked for, with ZZ Top veteran Billy F. Gibbons joining the band for half a dozen numbers. These began with Top’s ‘La Grange’ and continued with the two songs he had recorded with the band (‘Running Whiskey & Broken Heart’), a pair of Blues classics and a welcome romp through ‘Sharp Dressed Man’."

With normal service being resumed tomorrow after our recent hols, Gary Smith's review of Supersonic Blues Machine's recent Shepherd's Bush Empire gig has been well worth waiting for! Check out Gary's review here, plus check out Bruce Biege's photo gallery here plus also today's Video Of The Day.

Big Boy Bloater Interview 21/7/18

"Last minute stand in Big Boy Bloater made a fine fist of covering for Chas and Dave who were forced to withdraw due to illness. Wishing the East End duo well, the Surrey Cockney entertained the crowd with his dirty strat Blues and humorous lyrics and banter. This big fella has some fine chops, as well as a history of session guitar playing in his bag of tricks, that showcases why he is a regular at festivals as well as across the gamut of Blues playing radio stations. Currently touring his new album ‘Pills’, Bloater had also performed a small acoustic set to the VIP tent the previous day which raised a number of smiles. Dedicating his song ‘The Saturday Night Desperation Shuffle’ to all the ugly ones in the audience, he endeared himself to all. It’s nice when you are made to feel special." That was part of our Big Boy Bloater & The Limits Ramblin' Man Fair review and before their set on the Saturday we caught up with Bloater for an interview here which is also today's Track Of The Day.

Glossii Tour Kicks Off Tonight 19/7/18

Glossii (Video Of The Day) is a four piece Rock/Post Punk band created around South London in early 2017 by Charlie Lock and guitarist Lewis Smith, along with vocalist Sofia Zanghirella and latest joining member, drummer Reuben Rost. Glossii's hard-hitting riffs and bursts of aggression create the ubiquitous back-beat for Sofia’s femme-fatale lyrical insight- reminiscent of other bands such as Wolf Alice and Garbage with a detection and a nod to the original allure of Blondie. Already hailed as 'unforgettable' by thnksfrthrvw, Glossii release their new single 'Headache' today, which they celebrate by joining HMLtd at The Boileroom in Guildford tonight, before they head out on their Viva La Helen tour.

Von Hertzen Brothers Interview 15/7/18

"Back at the Prog stage are Finnish Prog heroes The Von Hertzen Brothers. Playing a mix of classic Rock combined with Progressive elements, Folk, Punk and contemporary Rock, the band has a sound for everyone. Guitarist Kie, playing his battered white strat, gets some killer sounds out of his Vox amp with a set that has heavy guitar but also a big keyboard sound that has Rush-like qualities. Mikko Von Hertzen has a happy look on his face the whole time, although, if you are young, good looking and front a popular band, why wouldn’t you be. The heat of the weekend feels at it’s hottest here as Kie quips to the assembled photographers "We look way better when we are soaked". And not a drop of rain all day." That was part of our Von Hertzen Brothers Ramblin' Man Fair review and after their set we caught up with guitarist Kie Von Hertzen and drummer Sami Kuoppamaki for an interview here which is also today's Track Of The Day.

Kris Barras Interview 14/7/18

"The Torquay 4 piece produce some excellent swampy Blues Rock that really made them stand out from the crowd. Barras sports an oilcan/junkbox guitar for some excellent slide guitar before switching back to his trusty strat for regular Blues rocking. Piano/keys from Josiah Manning bring a melodic accompaniment to the great groove. They were hugely appreciated by the large crowd lapping up the sun, and the excellent beers." That was part of our Kris Barras Band Ramblin' Man Fair review and the day before their set we caught up with Kris for an interview here which is also today's Track Of The Day.

Dorian Sorriaux EP Review 13/7/18

"'Need To Love' is a fragile and ethereal song performed with eminent grace. Dorian's voice sounds quite emotionally exposed and vulnerable but with an honest and deep resonance, quite moving. The divine and graceful 'Hello My Friend', a song that recalls tragic American folk hero Jackson C. Frank, closes the EP with its lilting arpeggios and celestial vocals."

Today read Steven C. Gilbert's complete take on Dorian Sorriaux's 'Hungry Ghost' EP here plus check out today's Video Of The Day.

Eric Clapton Photo Gallery 13/7/18

B. & The Blues Shacks and more.

Gorilla Riot Interview 12/7/18

"Back to the Rising Stage and for me, possibly the find of the festival. Gorilla Riot are a 5 piece bundle of excitement from Manchester reminiscent of early GnR although with a strong vein of Blues flowing through them. With three guitars (steady Mother! – two Les Paul's and an SG) they make a big sound and frontman Arjun Bhishma made a big impact on the clearly supportive audience. The set went from hard rocking to groove Rock with hypnotic beats.  Lead guitarist Liam Henry on the SG produced some fine work without being overbearing. Again we have proof that young guitar Rock is alive and flourishing." That was part of our recent glowing Gorilla Riot Ramblin' Man Fair review and we were lucky enough to interview band members Liam and Degsy in the Press Area after their set here.

Need You Know 12/7/18

Riding on the success of their previous EP ‘Involuntary Actions’, Peter Moses and his team are back once again to prove that there is no limit to their ingenuity and creativity. Yes, President Street, the Australian Pop Fusion collective, are back with their new single ‘Need You Now’ and it is as daringly contemporary as ever. With actress Kate Jenkinson of Wentworth taking the lead and, incredibly creative artistic direction, today's Video Of The Day is a real cinematic masterpiece and works alongside the new single perfectly.

Music For Art's Sake 12/7/18

Birdwood are dedicating their gig tonight at the Eel Pie Club, The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW13SZ, to the late Art Wood (brother of Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones) whose assistance, enthusiasm and encouragement in the Eel Pie Club’s early days will never be forgotten. Art died of Prostate Cancer in 2006 and last Saturday would have been Art Wood's Birthday and every year The Eel Pie Club remembers Art with a special gig in his memory. Profits from this gig and a raffle will benefit Prostate Cancer UK. Birdwood is a thrilling all-star combination of three bands that played on the famous Eel Pie Island in the 1960's: The Birds featuring vocalist, Ali Mackenzie (which in the 1960's also featured Ronnie Wood on guitar), guitarist, Derek Griffiths of The Artwoods (which featured Art Wood on vocals) and Keith Grant of The Downliners Sect on bass. Mark Freeman (Rollin' Stoned, Art Wood All-Stars,  Downliners Sect) is also on drums and Chris Parren (Strawbs, Rocky Horror Show Band) is on keyboards. Doors open at 8.30pm and the music starts at 9pm.

Supersonic Blues Machine Photo Gallery 11/7/18

With our Supersonic Blues Machine Shepherd's Bush Empire review from last Wednesday in the pipeline, today check out our Photo Gallery here from the gig courtesy of Bruce Biege.

Second Coming In Leicester 11/7/18

"If indeed Greta Van Fleet were heralded as the second coming of Led Zeppelin, then what we didn't expect at the O2 Academy, Islington, on Thursday night was the second coming of The Rolling Stones in the guise of London's very own, and aptly named, The Second Sons. It was all a thoroughably enjoyable night of great live retro music." That was our take on The Second Sons (Video Of The Day) when we saw them at Islington's O2 Academy in April and the guys are back playing The Musician Pub, 42 Crafton Street West (off Clyde Street), Leicester LE1 2DE on Friday 27th July. Not only that, but the band also begin a residency at London's Troubadour the night before their Leicester gig!

Mouth Of The South 11/7/18

Cream of BST Tonight 8/7/18

One of music’s greatest artists will headline Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park tonight with Eric Clapton set to play a very special concert, continuing the legacy of all-time greats gracing the Great Oak Stage. With a decades-long career and countless accolades to his name, Clapton is also something of a local, having first played Hyde Park with Blind Faith on 7th June 1969 alongside band mates Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood and Rick Grech to a 120,000 strong audience – it was the band’s debut. He returned to the Royal Park in 1996, recording a classic live concert that raised money for The Prince’s Trust, again in 2008 and has played over 200 times at the nearby Royal Albert Hall. With Special Guests, Santana, his old mucker Steve Winwood and Gary Clark Jr. - it's going to be awesome!

Another Brick In The Wall 7/7/18

A bit like marmite - you either love him or hate him - but there's no doubting the power of Roger Waters music. The Pink Floyd visionary became the latest in a long line of era defining artists to grace BST Hyde Park last night - once again taking his sonic and visual experimentation to breath-taking levels, turning Rock 'n' Roll into theatre on the grandest scale. Roger’s performance featured the biggest quadrophonic sound system ever built - complemented by jaw dropping moments – such as the rising towers of Battersea Power station evoking the cover of the classic, but underrated album, 'Animals', the iconic pigs floating over the audience plus a Spitfire crashing into the stage. However, the most important thing was that Waters 'Us + Them' took us on a marvellous musical journey with songs from their greatest albums 'Wish You Were Here', 'The Wall' and 'Dark Side of The Moon', along with tracks from his critically acclaimed new album 'Is This The Life We Really Want?'. Simply awesome - just check out our Video Of The Day.

Let's Have Fun Tonight 7/7/18

Their new single ‘Let’s Have Fun Tonight’ is one of the twelve songs that comprise their self-produced  'Only Human' (mixed/mastered by Harry Hess of Harem Scarem), which sees Vega take their songwriting and musicianship to the next level.

Ramblin' Man Fair - Day 2 Review 6/7/18

"So headliners for the final day of the festival are The Cult. A difficult band to pigeon hole, they have vibes of Rock, Punk and Metal but all packaged together with great lyrics and seriously catchy hooks. There aren’t many bands who have such gravitas and cool yet are ubiquitous in the advertising world for catchy themes. Originally from Yorkshire, where they think what they sing and sing what they think, the five piece have had some tough times but keep coming back, to the delight of their loyal fanbase. Frontman Ian Astbury, dressed all in black, sports a large white Gretsch for opener ‘Wild Flower’ which he sings with as much gusto now as he did as when it was released 30 years ago. With fellow Cult original Billy Duffy on guitar coming from Manchester, you can see why this war of the roses has such energy and passion. They work off of each other to produce great songs with great energy. The hits keep coming with ‘GOAT’, ‘Lil Devil’ and ‘Spritwalker’ whipping up the crowd as the sun sets behind the massive stage. By saving their classic ‘She Sells Sanctuary’ for their encore the sunburnt masses drift off into the night happy that they have had all of their musical buttons pressed."

It's Us + Them Tonight 6/7/18

Pink Floyd visionary Roger Waters becomes the latest in a long line of era defining artists to grace Hyde Park tonight - one of music’s most spectacular showmen at the greatest outdoor venue in the world. Waters is famous for taking his sonic and visual experimentation to breath-taking levels, turning Rock 'n' Roll into theatre on the grandest scale. At Desert Trip in 2016, in the Californian desert, Roger’s performance featured the biggest quadrophonic sound system ever built. His recent sell-out shows have seen some jaw dropping moments – the rising towers of Battersea Power station evoking the cover of the classic Pink Floyd album 'Animals', the iconic pigs floating over the audience and a Spitfire crashing into the stage. This new tour promises to be no exception, following months of meticulous planning and craft, its powerful delivery will no doubt take us on a musical journey. 'Us + Them' will showcase highlights from Waters’ groundbreaking body of work, with songs from Pink Floyd’s greatest albums 'Wish You Were Here', 'The Wall', 'Animals', 'Dark Side of The Moon', along with tracks from his critically acclaimed new album 'Is This The Life We Really Want?'.

Ramblin' Man Fair - Day 1 Review 5/7/18

"And so to the headline act, Mott the Hoople were formed over 50 years ago. In that time they have been seen as Rock, Glam and even Country-Hippie. This latest reincarnation sees iconic frontman Ian Hunter reunited with Morgan Fisher on keys and Ariel Bender on guitar. Entering the stage to the strains of 'I Vow To Thee My Country', Hunter, on acoustic guitar, and the band launch into a set of classic Mott the Hoople tracks as well as a collection of tributes and medleys from artists that have contributed to, or influenced their music. Whilst as different as you can get from the preceding Steel Panther, they still bought an air of fun to the stage and to the audience. Well received and well presented, they were a fine way to end the Ramblin' day. With more glorious sunshine forecast, bring on tomorrow."

Water Rats Mollie Tonight 5/7/18

"Are you ok?" Mollie asked, dressed in striking skin tight black PVC/leather trousers and black tasseled leather jacket. Stupid question really, before they launched into another new song, the mid-tempo, catchy and potent track 'Into Shape', which again emphasised what a unit they are and that it's not just all about Mollie - although it was difficult to take your eyes off her given her commanding stage presence with her magnetic personality and seductive enchanting elegance." That was part of our Mollie Marriott review when we last saw her at The Borderline supporting Dan Patlansky in March and Mollie returns to London tonight at The Water Rats in Kings Cross.

Thomas Wynn's Black Heart Tonight 4/7/18

Just four days after they opened The Outlaw Country Stage last Saturday at Ramblin' Man Fair in Mote Park, Maidstone, Kent - Orlando’s Thomas Wynn And The Believers play London's The Black Heart in Camden tonight. In fact today's Track Of The Day is an interview which we were lucky enough to have with brother and sister Thomas (pictured) and Olivia discussing not only their Ramblin' Man set but also their hugely successful UK tour with The Temperance Movement earlier this year, their recent US Tour with Myles Kennedy plus their album 'Wade Waist Deep’ which was released in May 2017 via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group and recorded with four-time Grammy award-winning producer, Vance Powell (The White Stripes, Jack White, Chris Stapleton).

Supersonic Blues Machine Hit London 4/7/18 Tonight

Supersonic Blues Machine & Friends with very special guest Billy F. Gibbons will be at London’s prestigious, O2 Shepherds Bush Empire tonight for their debut headline show. Following the release of two acclaimed albums ‘West of Flushing, South of Frisco’ (2016), ‘Californisoul’ (2017) and a triumphant performance on the mainstage at Ramblin’ Man Fair last Summer,  the band are embarking on their first ever European tour. For this tour they welcome rising star Kris Barras (picture from Ramblin' Man Fair last Sunday) on all dates with former guitarist Lance Lopez concentrating on his recent solo release and touring in support of it. Kris has exploded to the front of the British Blues Rock pack with his new album ‘The Divine And Dirty’ released last month and will be joining the line-up following his own April-May UK tour with Beth Hart. Together with its guests and Kris Barras, the band is also bringing along  keyboard wiz Alex Alessandroni Jr (Stevie Wonder, Pink, Paul Stanley, Whitney Houston and many more), the backing vocals Supersonnets (credits spanning from Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, Jon Anderson, Shakira) and Fabrizio’s co-writer partner for the majority of SBM catalogue Serge Simic on second guitar and vocals. For the London show they will also be joined by Blues-Rocker Davy Knowles who counts Bernie Marsden and Joe Satriani amongst his admirers, the latter declaring that he is his “favourite modern Bluesman.”

Well the weather was unbelievable plus the banter and music (see today's Video Of The Day) was pretty damn good as well. With a review from Mother in the pipeline and some more pics to come, have a gander today at some brilliant photos from the weekend from John Bull here, not forgetting contributions from Phil C., Geoff C. and Stewart B.

Slow Turning Bridge Tonight 3/7/18

"The inevitable encore saw us "going way on down the swamp" with 'Bayou Teche' - a marvellous nine minute microcosm of what had gone before. Eric Clapton once said that Landreth was one of the most advanced guitarists in the world and one of the most under-appreciated. Well we were priveleged to witness the Master of Slydeco tonight, and boy was he appreciated. Long Live The King!" That was part of our take on Sonny Landreth at 229 The Venue in April and Sonny returns to London tonight at a sold out Under The Bridge as a part of John Hiatt & The Goners as they celebrate the 30th anniversary of ‘Slow Turning’, playing the album in its entirety along with greatest hits.
