Danny Bryant To Play Leos Red Lion! 31/10/15

Danny Bryant has announced the release of his highly anticipated new studio album 'Blood Money' which will be – released by Jazzhaus Records on Friday 29th January 2016.  His third album to be produced by Richard Hammerton, following in the footsteps of 2014Â’'s 'Temperature Rising' and 2013Â’'s 'Hurricane', the new album features Danny collaborating with the iconic guitarists Walter Trout and Bernie Marsden on two tracks! Not only that, but Danny, who we saw at Ramblin' Man this year (our Vid Of The Day), will be touring in the UK in February 2016 and his itinerary includes a WRC Promotions gig at Leos Red Lion, Gravesend, on Sunday 28th February! More info to come but in the meantime you can book your tickets here.

Vertigo! 31/10/15

Despite the fact that we were seated right up in the Gods and that it was the first time we had seen them - last night's U2 O2 Arena gig was epic!  With a review to come tomorrow - please check out our new Photo Gallery here and our Video Vault here!

Innocence And Experience! 30/10/15

Given U2 were formed way back in 1976 and have since released 13 studio albums plus are one of the world's best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 170 million records worldwide - we thought it about time that the WRC checked out what all the fuss is about. So four WRC U2 virgins were present at the O2 Arena, London, last night to witness their 'Rattle and Hum' in 'the round' from these guys from Dublin in the latest leg of their innocence and experience tour. A review and more pics to follow - but in the meantime take a look at our Vid Of The Day.

Borderline Bandit Territory! 30/10/15

Good friend of the WRC and Rockrpix photographer John Bull was out yet again with his camera on Wednesday night taking in Texan/English country quintet Jess and the Bandits at the Borderline. Having soared up the UK Official Country Charts with their debut album 'Here We Go Again', John's verdict on a decently attended gig was "Very good - Jess was great!" He also praised young support Liv Austen - "Really liked her too - check her out!" Plus you can also check out John's brilliant pics in our photo gallery here.

Teramaze-ing! 30/10/15

Melbourne, Australia’s Progressive Metal ensemble, Teramaze, first release for The Mascot Label Group - ‘Her Halo’ hits music stores today! Teramaze was originally formed during lead guitarist/producer Dean Wells teenage years. The band put out a couple albums in the early years, but it wasn’t until the release of â€˜Anhedonia’ in 2012 that Wells felt the modern version of Teramaze actually began. That third album was met with critical acclaim, as was the follow up of 2014’s â€˜Esoteric Symbolism’, which saw the quartet making a bolder statement and taking no prisoners to flex their musical muscle even further. Now with new vocalist Nathan Peachey, Teramaze have arrived with their cinematic â€˜Her Halo’ - a new beginning that not only brings about more potential, but promise as well.  The vid for the first single off ‘Her Halo’ -  â€˜Out of Subconscious’ - is today's Track Of The Day!

U2 @ O2 Tonight! 29/10/15

The pace doesn't slacken as the WRC are heading to the O2 Arena, London, tonight to see Irish Rockers U2 on the latest leg of their innocence and experience tour. To be fair - a band not always on the WRC radar - but a 'bucket list' band that we feel we need to witness once. Formed back in 1976 in Dublin they have since  released 13 studio albums and are one of the world's best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 170 million records worldwide. And the good news is that the guys are playing in 'the round' tonight plus the possibility of another special guest following Noel Gallagher's appearance via the Jubilee Line on Monday night (see our Vid Of The Day). Anyway, we hope to meet some of you in the Sky Backstage lounge beforehand!

Joanne Shaw Taylor Photo Gallery 29/10/15

As expected Joanne Shaw Taylor was on top form at a packed Jazz Cafe in London on Tuesday night. With a review of the gig on its way - take a look at our photo gallery here which also includes pics of excellent support band Federal Charm (pictured and our Track Of The Day) who completed a memorable evening!

You Really Got Me! 29/10/15

The Kast-Off Kinks are appearing tonight at The Eel Pie Club, The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ. Not a Tribute Band - The Kast-Off Kinks actually contains three members of The Kinks, namely original drummer, Mick Avory, who joined them in 1964 and is still regarded to this day as the backbone of the original Kinks, John Dalton, bassist with The Kinks from 1969 until the late 70's and keyboard player, Ian Gibbons who was with The Kinks for 17 years and still plays and tours with Ray Davies.  Indeed, the only only non-Kink is Dave Clarke (ex Noel Redding Band), taking the place of the Davies brothers! Tickets are £13 on the door and doors open at 8.30pm with the band due on stage at  9.15pm.

Cafe Culture! 28/10/15

The first time we saw Joanne Shaw Taylor was supporting Black Country Communion at the Shepherds Bush Empire at the end of 2010. Unlike BCC Joanne has obviously gone from strength to strength since! In May 2011 we saw her headline for the first time at the O2 Islington in May 2011 but admittedly missed her set at Ramblin' Man - hence our visit to the Jazz Cafe, Camden, last night for the second gig of her two night residency. Watch this space for a review and more pics - but in the meantime have a look at today's Vid Of The Day - taken live last night!

Bandits At The Borderline Tonight! 28/10/15

One band John Bull of Rockrpix did come across on the Saturday at Ramblin' Man was Jess and the Bandits (pictured). Well October has been an exciting month for the Texan/English country quintet, who embarked on their first ever UK headline tour and are heading to the Borderline in London tonight! Having soared up the UK Official Country Charts with their debut album 'Here We Go Again', the band have been excited to take the record on the road following their sold out London shows earlier this year. As fans of the burgeoning British country scene, the band are excited to have a wealth of homegrown talent to share the stage with as they make their way across the country!

Jukin' Jenn Returns! 28/10/15

It's been a while - but today we welcome back Jukin Jenn's latest Bucket Of Blues as our Track Of The Day! The playlist this week includes: Bnois King and Smokin Joe Kubek (RIP) - Baby Your the One,
Bob Malone (who played the 100 Club, London, last night with our friends Loose Moorings) -Don't Threaten Me with a Good Time, Ronnie Earl - I Need You So Bad, Jelly Roll Kings - Have Mercy Baby, JJ Appleton and Jason Ricci - Jason's Solo, Hamat Modine - Up & Rise, Martin Harley and Daniel Kimbro - Chocolate Jesus,  The Jimmy's - Freight Train, Shemekia Copeland - Isn't That So, Paul Cox - I Can Take You to Heaven Tonight,  Steve Goodman - A Dying Cub Fans Last Request and  Go Cubs Go.

... And All That Jazz! 27/10/15

"The set continued in similar fashion with punters jaws dropping open at some of the solos. In the end Joanne could not resist indulging herself by playing 'Manic Depression' from one of her childhood influences Jimi Hendrix. My personal favourite though was 'Blackest Day' which sums up emotions that so many of us have experienced and certainly is the case for JST. The complete set showcases all the skills she has developed from her idols - hard stuff like SRV - the bite a la Albert Collins and the riffs from the Jimi Hendrix book." That was Wrinkly's take on the first time the WRC saw Joanne Shaw Taylor (pictured by John Bull at Ramblin' Man this year) headline at the O2 Islington in May 2011. Four and half years down the line we are heading to the Jazz Cafe, Camden, tonight for the second gig of her two night residency. Watch this space for a review, pics and vids!

Replicants Wrinklystock Setlist Raises £265! 27/10/15

That's right - all the bids are now in and The Replicants Wrinklystock IV Classic Covers setlist has now been finalised here - raising a stonking £265 in aid of our nominated charities! Also as expected the gig headlined by T.Rextasy at the Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford, on Saturday 21st November has now sold out! Further good news is that The Replicants will be rounding off their set with Billy Idol's (pictured at the Royal Albert Hall in July) Rebel Yell which is today's Vid Of The Day!

Rock Legend Interviewed On Track Of The Day! 27/10/15

Rock legend Glenn Hughes, whose 40 year career as a singer and bass player has seen him form an integral part in bands including Deep Purple, Trapeze, Black Country Communion and California Breed joins Rory Auskerry for an interview on today's Track Of The Day! On the latest Route 66 podcast, Glenn talks openly about his musical differences with Joe Bonamassa, advice for the next generation and his love of playing live. Also on the show are new tracks from Jared James Nichols (pictured), Buddy Guy, Walter Trout, Don Henley, Gary Clark Jr., Rod Stewart and Joe Satriani.

Chantel's Message From America! 26/10/15

As you know just two weeks ago the WRC were delighted to hear from Dave Riley from the Chantel McGregor US Fans Facebook page. Well tune in to today's Track Of The Day as the guys at WMFO 91.5FM feature songs from Chantel's new album and celebrate the one-year anniversary of her first ever US interview! As David says: "Hope you can join Mike on the mic and myself for our NEW interview with the wonderful and gracious Chantel McGregor."

Rebels Underbelly! 26/10/15

The WRC introduced you to Broken Witt Rebels just over a month ago - a four-piece band from Birmingham who combine the power and intensity of Classic Rock with the finesse and delicacy of soulful blues. Putting their own original stamp on the Birmingham music scene, their latest EP, ‘Howlin’, was released in the Summer of 2014 and they are definitely on the rise. Previously supporting The View and playing up and down the country, the Rebels played the Zigfrid Von Underbelly in London on Saturday night and the whole gig (check it out at around 2 hours 38 minutes) is our Vid Of The Day!

Ryan Bingham Photo Gallery Available 26/10/15

"They finally let the handbrake off the engine for the encore with a cover of the Stones' 'Rip This Joint', the slide of the awesome Dead Horses 'Sunshine' and finally the stand out acoustic Horses number from his Borderline gig 'Bread and Water'. To be fair the appreciative audience lapped it up but for mine, unexpectedly, it didn't hit the heights of the intimacy and touching personal anecdotes of The Borderline in February nor the first time we saw Ryan and The Dead Horses rock out at Hyde Park over four years ago. Still a great night though."

Go to the Ryan Bingham Photo Gallery here and read the rest of AJ's review here!

Glenn Hughes Interview Tonight 25/10/15

Vocal & bass guitar legend Glenn Hughes (see our Vid Of The Day) will be on the Route 66 show tonight chatting to Rory Auskerry about his love of playing live, his time working with Joe Bonamassa (pictured with Hughes with Black Country Communion at High Voltage in 2011), California Breed, Deep Purple and Trapeze plus his advice for young musicians. All that plus some great music from across his 40+ year career on Route 66 here from 6pm!

Lucky 13! 25/10/15

A thirteenth video has now been added to our BluesRockFest DVD/CD - namely 'Ferrari' by The Chris Walker Band (pictured). Today's Rainbreakers Track Of The Day was also recorded on that great day at the The Red Lion, Gravesend, Kent, on Saturday 4th July 2015 - and is an exclusive as it is not on the live CD that accompanies the DVD. And it's still not too late to pre-order your copy for a bargain £10 + p&p here to see what all the fuss is about! Don't forget that WRC Members can also get 10% off by simply entering their coupon code!

Walter's Battle Scars 25/10/15

Joyful, energized guitar-and-vocal performances frame the dozen original songs that narrate his hard-won, life-or-death struggle waiting for, and ultimately receiving, a life-saving liver transplant. With bristling energy, unflagging virtuosity and lyrics that cut to the core of human hope and willpower, Walter Trout’s new album, ‘Battle Scars’, chronicles his horrific battle with liver failure. But the 12-song set, which was released worldwide by Mascot Label Group’s Provogue Records last Friday, also captures the international guitar hero, on a new high - playing and singing at the peak of his abilities, infusing even his darkest numbers with creative joy that sweeps like a beacon. Trout's UK 'I'm Back Tour 2015' coincides with the album's release which includes a gig at The Forum in London on Saturday 21st November.

Awaking The Dead! 24/10/15

"BlueBird took me back to Hyde Park 2011 when the Dead Horses packed a punch with their electric guitars and keys - suffice to say this rocked and went down well with the WRC beside me! Ryan's harmonica heralded Junky Star's beautiful 'The Poet' - the audience hanging on tightly on this emotional roller coaster of a set. Bingham's voice to die for - was again perfectly illustrated on 'Hallelujah' - yet another stand out track from 'Junky Star' - which understandably charted in the US in 2010. FASN's 'Adventures Of You and Me', 'My Diamond Is Too Rough' and the "Dylanesque"  'Broken Heart Tatoos' were a microcosm of the contrasting Americana Roots Rock genres in the set although the delicious 'Southside Of Heaven' managed to combine all these musical elements culminating in a wonderful jam with Bingham, Sproul and Bowden stepping up to the railway plate."

Rock That Bell! 24/10/15

After their excursion into Sussex last week The Replicants are back on home ground this Saturday when they play The Lower Bell in Aylesford for the first time. The guys are of course gearing up for Wrinklystock IV where they will support the amazing T.Rextasy at our annual charity gig at The Mick Jagger Centre in Dartford on Saturday 21st November. Watch out for news on their final setlist which has been auctioned off for charity shortly.  And why are they the support? Why not find out by turning off the X Factor and get down to the Bell for a rocking evening - entry is free with The Reps due on stage at 9pm!

Award Winning Blooze! 24/10/15

A wonderful array of Blooze music awaits you on today's Track Of The Day from the Award winning Blues on the Marsh. Included in Kevin Beale's playlist this week you will find tracks from The Andy Taylor Group, Per & The Ouagadougou Blues Quartet, Albert Cummings, Angela Lewis Brown, Anthony Geraci & Boston All-Stars Band, Elvin Bishop, Hans Theesink and Terry Evans, Holly Benton, Jackie Payne, The Keith Thompson Band, Lewis Hamilton, Lucy Malheur, Mark Pocket Goldberg, Robert Lucas, Mick Clarke, The Mighty Boss Cats, Nine Below Zero, Regina Bonelli, Solomon Hicks, Southbound (pictured), Stacey Jones, The Mojo Slide, and Willy Porter.

Resurrecting His Dead Horses! 23/10/15

It was certainly a case of apprehension as we approached the sold out London Borderline in February. We obviously had reservations about Academy award winner Ryan Bingham performing a solo acoustic set without his dearly departed 'Dead Horses' - who we salivated over when first saw them at Hard Rock Calling in June 2011. We needn't have worried - an easy early contender for our 2015 WRC  'Best Acoustic' award. And the cherry on the cake was that Ryan was returning to London in October with - wait for it - his band! And talking of Hollywood - as we said at the time -  "we're gonna need a bigger boat" - hence our trip to the Koko, Camden last night! Anyway, more pics, vids and review to come - in the meantime enjoy today's Vid Of The Day taken last night!

A Little Bit Of What You Fancy! 23/10/15

This week's two hour Blues Club Podcast is predominantly New Blues but also Rock, Soul, Jazz, Acoustic and whatever else takes Jim and Malcolm's fancy! Our Track Of The Day features the UK Independent Blues Broadcasters Association Presenters' Picks for October including Bob Malone, Trevor Sewell, Angela Lewis Brown, Half Deaf Clatch and Jesse Davey plus also tracks from Buddy Guy, Tommy Castro, Joe Bonamassa (pictured), Nathaniel Rateliff, The Chris O'Leary Band, King King, Bobby Rush, Mick Kolassa, Dr. John, Danielle Nicole Band, Phily K, The Beat Daddys, King Solomon, Little Boys Blue, Taj Mahal, Crooked Eye Tommy, Jo Harman, Tanya Piche Blues Band, Blinddog Smokin', Maggie Bell, Heritage Blues Orchestra, Richard Townend & The Mighty Boss Cats, Paul Cox, Nine Below Zero, Niecie Blues and B. B. & The Blues Shacks!

Pylon Unleashed Today! 23/10/15

Killing Joke are on a mission to take their music of resistance to a whole new level with their latest and 16th studio album Pylon, released today via Spinefarm Records. Pylon was produced in the UK and Prague by the band and Tom Dalgety, whose credits include the hugely successful Royal Blood album, and isn’t designed to accompany a quiet night at home in front of the fire; Pylon is very much music as ritual – raw, uncompromising and precisely-targeted lyrically, with the artwork put together by regular band associate Mike Coles, the designer behind the very first Killing Joke album. With the original line-up of Jaz Coleman, Geordie, Youth and Big Paul continuing to hold firm, the band will be playing a 10 date headline UK tour to coincide with Pylon’s release, starting in Cardiff on October 25th and finishing at the Roundhouse in London on November 6th. This will be the start of an extensive period of touring that will see this most legendary and infamous band taking their own particular message to audiences around the world!

You Should Koko! 22/10/15

"Fresh from his previous night's gig at King Tuts in Glasgow - the Americana singer/songwriter launched into 'The Poet' - the first track of off 'Junky Star' - it's intimacy immediately palpable - the scene was set for a memorable evening. Another Dead Horses and 'Junky Star' classic followed - 'Depression' and the gig just flowed with the Hollywood in Bingham clearly evident in not only his looks but also his touching personal anecdotes that included his Grandfather and hitchhiking! But at the end of the day it was all about his delivery of a guitar and a voice to die for - perfectly illustrated on 'Hallelujah' - yet another stand out track from 'Junky Star' - which understandably charted in the US in 2010."

That was our take on 'acoustic' Ryan Bingham in February and as promised he's back with his band tonight at the Koko in London. Watch out for a review, pics a vid over the coming days!

Liam Flies Out Of The Traps! 22/10/15

All roads led to Sussex last Saturday as The Replicants left the comfort of their back yard for Crawley!  Why  you may ask - well they had agreed to let fourteen year-old Liam O’Kane play drums on a couple of their numbers and that’s where he lives – simples! The Greyhound kindly offered to host the gig (many thanks Caz) and a source close to the WRC said that Liam was so nervous he hadn’t eaten all day!  So after The Replicants had suitably more than warmed up the crowd it was all eyes on Liam! And if he was nervous then he certainly didn’t show it as he ripped into 'Smoke On The Water', 'Ace Of Spades' – (our Vid Of The Day that provoked a "f**k yeah" from one punter), 'Lil Devil' and unbelievably The Replicants signature finale 'Rebel Yell' which we understand he hadn’t rehearsed! There was no stopping him now as the crowd called for more and Liam insisted on 'Tush'!!! A great night and many thanks to the guys as usual for entering into the spirit of things!

Grabbed By 'The Short & Curlies'! 21/10/15

The Short and Curlies Band are a four piece mainly covers band playing pubs, clubs and functions around South London and North Kent. Originally a duo - Colin on guitar/vocals (Short) and Paul on guitar/harmonica (Curly) - joined up last year with former members of '3AM' - Nathan (bass/vocals) and Mike (drums) to create both a bigger sound and a wider repertoire of songs - resulting in an upbeat style and a wide variety of material from 50's rock and roll right up to current hits plus original material. Not just a tribute band, nor just a covers band - but a group of dedicated musicians offering their own treatment of a wide range of music plus the songwriting of John and Colin!

The band is powerful, passionate, full of groove and has had a track featured on the cover CD of The Blues Magazine and have received a host of radio plays and some very humbling and kind reviews! The band played the Tuesday Blues at The 100 Club in April, Reivers Rock and Blues Festival in May and have supported some great artists recently such as Ryan McGarvey, Buddy Whittington, RavenEye, Ron Sayer, Erja Lyytinen plus former BluesFest headliner Aynsley Lister. Under Sniper Fire! 15/10/15

We were deighted to hear from former WRC Award winner Clare Free (pictured at the Colour House Theatre, Merton, in 2011) who is expecting a baby just before Christmas! Of course this means time off from the road for Clare and gives her the time to work on some new music! Anyway, her new single 'Sniper Fire' here is now out now and available from all major download sites. It blends samples, loops, hip hop drum beats and programed sounds with live guitars and vocals.  Clare added "I have wanted to make music like this for a long time and now I have had the chance to do so and personally I love it." For any feedback or to contact Clare, please visit her website here.

Big River Has The Blues! 13/10/15

Big River is the idea of Gravesend Guitarist Damo Fawsett, after playing a last minute gig with his old cohorts in The Chosen Few, his passion for Blues music resurfaced. Then upon seeing Vintage Trouble on TV, he realised that the Blues is well and truly alive and reaching a whole new generation of fans!  No stranger to the WRC, having played at Bluesfest 2014, Damo began his search for like minded people and after a Dartford rehearsal studio session,  Big River was born! Joining Fawsett in the band is Adam Bartholomew on vocals, who Damo tells us can out-soul Paul Rodgers and scream like Glenn Hughes in the next breath! Luke Calvert is on Drums, praised by Damo as "technically brilliant and all the while lays down a flawless groove" plus Ant Wellman on bass who was previously with  the Reagan Browne Band and currently tours all over the UK and Europe with The Lambrettas -  "a style of Jaco Pastorius and Andy Fraser - he was the perfect choice to lay down the bottom end" adds Damo.  Big River has a seriously powerful sound all of their own and cover Blues tracks from all eras from Hendrix and Free through to modern bands like Rival Sons and Vintage Trouble - with the image to match.  Big River will be one to watch and they hit the road from December 2015.

WRC. Video. Erased. 1/10/2015

Fingers crossed that our Steven Wilson Royal Albert Hall Photo Gallery doesn't go the same way as yesterday's Video Of The Day! Suffice to say the WRC were sent a legal notice about the copyrighted content in our video. As a result, the video was removed from YouTube! Not the first time this has happened either - hence our 'stewards permitting' comment re: our coverage before the gig! Such a shame, as at the end of the day, our only intention is to share our love of music through our website and certainly was not for any financial gain! Needless to say we don't hold any grudges but in protest we will not only be cancelling our planned review of a truly memorable night of Wilson/Porcupine Tree but will also continue today with yesterday's Vid Of The Day even though it has been removed!
