Oh, Geno! 30/11/17
Geno Washington & The Yo Yos, featuring members of the super tight Ram Jam Band, playing a blistering set of pared down street Soul, RnB and house rockin' Blues, are at The Eel Pie Club, The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ tonight. Geno is still the ultimate 60's Soul man, enjoying cult status in Soul, Blues and RnB scenes, mainly due to his unsurpassable reputation as a live performer. A contemporary of Georgie Fame, The Small Faces and Jimi Hendrix (all of whom were his support acts back in the day), Geno is as electrifying today as ever, a force of nature and a genuine joy to behold. Doors open at 8.30pm with music from 9-11pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted admission.

Still In Love With You 28/11/17
"It's perhaps no surprise to learn that Brian Downey's much missed compadre, Phil Lynott, with the exception of Bob Seger's 'Rosalie', had a clean sweep on writing all the songs featured on the iconic 'Live and Dangerous'. However, on the richter scale, it's a pretty mean feat for a drummer to have also co-written almost half of those classic songs. True to the album they set the bar mighty high as they opened with the corker - 'Jailbreak' - and boy were the assembled Lizzy fans ready as they continued to Rock out with fists proudly in the air to 'Are You Ready' - promoted up the order - but the four hundred strong crowd didn't give a damn. It was opening salvo to make your hair stand up on end - if Brian had any - although his three Irish amigos were certainly not challenged in the follicle stakes nor indeed musically as they immediately demonstrated why they had been hand picked by the legendary tub thumper."

Ash Tuesday Blues 28/11/17
The bad news is that tonight's Ash Wilson's 100 Club London gig has been postponed - but the good news is that Ash will be returning next year with his band on Tuesday 27th March on the same bill as Greg Coulson and the Connor Selby Band (today's Video Of The Day). The other good news is that Gabriella Jones, who was also on the postponed bill tonight, is now performing next Tuesday 5th December along with the Connie Lush Band and Felix Rabin!
Voodoo Tuesday 28/11/17
More good news is that if you want a gig tonight then head on down to the Tuesday Night Music Club at The Comrades Club, Coulsdon CR5 2NF for both The Voodoo Sheiks and Sugarman Sam & The Voodoo Men. In fact both bands feature on todays Blues On The Radio Track Of The Day which also includes tracks from Sam Kelly's Station House, Richard Townend & The Mighty Bosscats, Elles Bailey, Milligan Vaughan Project, Kris Barras (pictured), Mike Brookfield, Kelly Z, Dan Burnett, Larkin Poe and Rebecca Downes!
Alive And Dangerous Photo Gallery 27/11/17
Brian Downey, known to millions of Rock fans as the original drummer of Thin Lizzy, performed the second of two rare concerts at Nells Jazz & Blues in London on Saturday night. His new band Alive And Dangerous, featuring Brian Grace (best known as the guitarist for the Commitments Andrew Strong), former Low Rider members Matt Wilson (lead vocals, bass) and Phil Edgar (lead guitar) were fantastic, covering one of the greatest live Rock and Roll albums of all time: Thin Lizzy's 'Live and Dangerous'. Downey's band accordingly celebrated the 40th Anniversary of 'Live and Dangerous' in style, and with a review to come, check out our photo gallery (including excellent support band Federal Charm pictured) here.
Sweet And Unified 27/11/17
Sweet & Lynch is centred around the talents of guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet of Heavy Metal stalwarts Stryper and iconic guitarist George Lynch (Lynch Mob, KXM, ex-Dokken) along with bassist James Lomenzo (ex Megadeth, White Lion, Black Label Society) and drummer Brian Tichy (The Dead Daisies, ex-Whitesnake). 'Unified' (see today's Video Of TheDay) is the follow-up to their critical and fan acclaimed 2015 debut, 'Only To Rise'. The combination of Sweet's powerful, high-octane vocals, Lynch's immediately recognizable guitar work, and Lomenzo and Tichys propulsive rhythm section make for an amazing musical combination. The album gives both Sweet and Lynch the opportunity to operate outside of the boundaries of their most well known work and really stretch their wings. Pummeling, traditional Heavy Metal combines with hook-laden Melodic Rock and traditional Hard Rock for a recipe that will satisfy the hungriest of Rock fans! An absolute must hear for fans of all of Michael Sweet and George Lynchs previous work and of course for those who enjoyed the bands excellent debut album!
Black (On Blues) Monday 27/11/17
Today's latest Black On Blues Track Of The Day features music from RD Olson, The Rev Shawn Amos, Rocky Athas, Lightning Rod & The Thunderbolts, Jing Chi, John Verity (pictured) and Ronnie Earl.
The Boys Were Back In Town 26/11/17
It's perhaps no surprise to learn that Brian Downey's much missed compadre, Phil Lynott, with the exception of Bob Seger's 'Rosalie', had a clean sweep on writing all the songs featured on one of the greatest live Rock and Roll albums of all time: Thin Lizzy's 'Live and Dangerous'. However, on the richter scale, it's a pretty mean feat for a drummer to have also co-written almost half of those classic songs. Cue Downey's Alive And Dangerous band who played this iconic album in it's entirety last night at Nells Jazz & Blues Club in London's Kensington. In fact they omitted 'Baby Drives Me Crazy' and actually the set list was in a different order to the album - but hey they more than made up for it with the addition of 'Angel From The Coast', 'Bad Reputation' plus the one track that surprisingly isn't on 'LAD' - a certain 'Whiskey In The Jar'. The second gig of two nights saw a storming set, and with more photos and a review to come, check out today's Video Of The Day.
Wrinklystock VI Photo Gallery 26/11/17
Is it really over a week ago now since Wrinklystock VI, where we not only raised £1,000 for our nominated charities - The Friends Of Carlton Centre and Celebrations Theatrical Group - but it was also a brilliant night of music with sponsored classic Rock covers from the fantastic Replicants and an exceptional tribute from Magic to the legendary Electric Light Orchestra and of course Queen. Anyway with a review of the gig in the pipeline check out today's updated photo gallery here courtesy of Mr. Rock On The Ridge himself - Bob Wilson plus Gemma Doucy from The Carlton Centre.
Bad Touch & Mollie M Academy Tonight! 26/11/17
Bad Touch’s UK headline tour with Mollie Marriott stops off at London's O2 Academy Islington tonight. It dovetail's with the recent release of their new single 'Baby Get It On' featuring guest vocals from Mollie Marriott, which is today's Track Of The Day. The single is a cover of Tina Turner’s 1975 classic and is also a free MP3 download! 'Baby Get It On' first appeared on Tina Turner’s second solo album 'Acid Queen' that was originally released in 1975. Although it was a Tina Turner solo album, the first single 'Baby Get It On' was a duet with Ike Turner (who wrote the song for Tina).
Alive And Dangerous Tonight! 25/11/17
Brian Downey, known to millions of Rock fans as the original drummer of Thin Lizzy, will perform the second of two rare concerts at Nells Jazz & Blues in London tonight. His new band Alive And Dangerous will perform a 40th anniversary concert of one of the greatest live Rock and Roll albums of all time: Thin Lizzy's 'Live and Dangerous'. Downey's band features Brian Grace (best known as the guitarist for the Commitments Andrew Strong), former Low Rider members Matt Wilson (lead vocals, bass) and Phil Edgar (lead guitar). 2018 celebrates the 40th Anniversary of 'Live and Dangerous', although the album was recorded live in 1977 at London's Hammersmith Apollo and Toronto's Seneca College, it wasn't officially released until a year later in 1978.
Deep Purple Photo Gallery 25/11/17
Not only do we have here today our Deep Purple photo gallery from their London O2 Arena gig on Thursday night (including support bands Cats In Space and Europe), but today's Video Of The Day marks exactly 45 years since Deep Purple were hosted by famous BBC Radio 2 programme, simply titled "In Concert". Although it's fairly strange that the band were guests last time in March 1972 when they were introducing their upcoming album 'Machine Head', which became a sheer Rock classic to this date. Even the most interesting thing was that featured the very first performance of 'Smoke On The Water' in front of any audience. This time around Purple performed a subtle set of songs including four tracks from their latest 'Infinite' album, with some interesting classics by the likes of 'Bloodsucker' and 'Fireball'.
Regina Bonelli On The Dog & Bone 25/11/17
On today's Blues On The Marsh Track Of The Day you'll hear The Wes Williams Band, Aurelien Morro and The Checkers, Andrew Love from the Memphis Horns, Jane Lee Hooker, Sean Wheeler, Miss Freddye, Indigenous, Jesus on a Tortilla, Dr John, Johnny Oskam, Alice DiMicele, Bad Luck Woman and Her Misfortunes, Fil Campbell and Tom McFarland, King Size Slim (Toby Barelli). Mavis Staples, Dr Wu, Magic Frankie and Leo Hull plus there's also a phone chat with the Queen of NYC, Ms Regina Bonelli, about her fantastic new single and forthcoming album.
Never Say Never 24/11/17
Ten month's after Black Sabbath's 'The End' gig at the same venue, Deep Purple's 'The Long Goodbye' tour stopped off at the London O2 Arena last night. With the tour continuing until the Summer of next year, the question on everyone's lips was - "Is this it?" Drummer Ian Paice - who suffered a minor stroke in June 2016 has been quoted as saying "Never say never" - but whether it was or it wasn't - it didn't detract from an iconic night of their Rock classic's plus a sprinkling from their new album 'Infinite'. With great support from Cats In Space and Europe - Gillan, Morse, Glover, Airey and Paice sent the Purple punters home happy - finishing with an encore of 'Hush' and 'Black Night'. With a photo gallery to come - check out today's Video Of The Day.

Topographic Drama Out Today 24/11/17
In the Summer of 2016, Yes embarked upon an ambitious American tour. At each show, the band performed its 1980 album 'Drama' in its entirety for the first time ever plus sides one and four from Yes 1973 double-album 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' (their first number one album), together with fan favourites like 'Roundabout' and 'Starship Trooper'. Their new live album, 'Topographic Drama Live Across America' is released today as a double-CD and a triple-LP with both versions featuring detailed cover art designed by the bands longtime collaborator Roger Dean. The new collection features live performances from 12 dates recorded on the same tour in February 2017, by the current Yes line-up: Steve Howe (guitars), Alan White (drums), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Billy Sherwood (bass), Jon Davison (vocals), and the additional drummer for this tour Jay Schellen.
The Long Goodbye 23/11/17
"Airey's solo was a real stand out on 'Lazy' - his panache and humour ably assisted by the orchestration. His Hammond mastery making me do a double-take as I returned from a long overdue pit-stop - ELP anyone? As for Ian Paice (never was a surname so apt) the drummer held it together all the way through - despite the 38 new faces to Mk 8! Cynics would say that the orchestra were there to paint over the cracks - in my eyes it was more of a case of the overall sum being greater than the parts." Billed as 'The Songs That Built Rock Tour' - the Deep Purple Mk 8 touring juggernaut, including their 38 piece orchestra - that was part of our review six years ago as DP stopped off at London's O2 Arena (pictured). And DP return to the same venue tonight as part of their 'The Long Goodbye Tour'.
A Different Person 23/11/17
We caught Go Primitive live at London's Surya in late August and the UK Rock band have just released a new single 'A Different Person' which is the second single taken from their upcoming album 'Choices'. The album is due to be released on Friday 23rd February, and 'A Different Person' (today's Track Of The Day) follows the previous single 'I Want More'. It’s a 10-track collection of powerful, energetic and motivational songs from the Warwickshire four-piece who have a Hard Rock sound with an old school twist. They are currently finishing their Autumn/Winter tour with a date at the Zephyr Lounge in Leamington Spa on Friday 8th December but will shortly have a UK tour lined up for next year in support of their new album.
Next Joke 23/11/17
Prog Metallers Galactic Cowboys released their eagerly awaited comeback album 'Long Way Back To The Moon' last Friday via Music Theories Recordings/Mascot Label Group. This is the bands first album in almost 20 years, complete with the original line up. Taken from the album, today's Video Of The Day 'Next Joke' is alternately heavy, whimsical, charging, and crunching, combining inescapable atmosphere with the drive of a band on a mission. Old fans will feel at home, but Hard Rock fans who have never heard Galactic Cowboys before will also be instantly hooked. As with all Galactic Cowboys albums, the songs are emotional in topic, and often including a large dose of ironic humour. Each song is performed, sung, and written with intense passion.

Did It All 22/11/17
New York gypsy-Punk outfit Gogol Bordello have recently released a live video (today's Video Of The Day) for their brand new single ‘Did It All’, ahead of their UK headline tour next month. Full of energy and charisma, their turbulent live performance is an extravagant whirlwind of entertainment, every show a frenzied party as frontman Eugene Hütz sips his wine and his musical ensemble tear up stages across the globe in signature Gogol Bordello style. The footage was captured live from NYC’s Capitol Theatre and is a taster of what to expect as they return to UK shores including London's O2 Academy, Brixton, on Thursday 14th December. The band will be playing tracks from their brand new album 'Seekers and Finders', their first for four years, which was released earlier this year through Cooking Vinyl. The band have been touring relentlessly this year in support of 'Seekers and Finders', which included an appearance at British Summer Time alongside Green Day.
Searching For The God Inside 22/11/17
Pendulum Of Fortune are an impressive Hard Rock quartet consisting of English, German and Russian members. Their debut album, ‘Searching For The God Inside’, contains eleven songs that are as exciting and diverse as the careers of each musician involved in its creation, of which the title track is our Track Of The Day. The founder and mastermind of the band is the exceptional German drummer Bodo Schopf, who for many years was an integral part of the legendary Prog band ELOY and who has also drummed for artists such as Michael Schenker, Eric Burdon, Jack Bruce and iconic Glam-Rockers The Sweet.
Queen Of Blues 21/11/17
"With her trusty blond Telecaster plugged into an array of Fender Amps, Joanne greets her loyal following, apologises for the state of her voice before launching into a superb rendition of her 'Dyin' To Know' track from the 'Wild' album. This is one of the tracks she performed so well on that Jules Holland show last year. Joanne is a well known devotee of Stevie Ray Vaughan which is reflected in her powerful Rock Blues. In earlier days, at less imposing venues, JST was know to have played the odd SRV or Hendix cover. These days, with six albums behind her, she has plenty of her own fine material to be entertaining the crowds."

Where We Stood 21/11/17
Despite receiving one copyright strike from You Tube for posting 'Part Zero' at the Islington Assembly Hall in February this year - we still love The Pineapple Thief - a band we have followed since their very first gig in August 2003! So much so, that we bring you news (all that we were trying to do in the first place) of the recent release of that London concert film also featuring drummer Gavin Harrison (King Crimson/Porcupine Tree) and guitarist Darran Charles (Godsticks). The gig brought to a close an unforgettable 14-date European Winter tour of their 2016 Summer hit album 'Your Wilderness. Led by post-Progressive mastermind Bruce Soord, TPT gave the sold-out crowd a truly awe-inspiring gig and their DVD 'Where We Stood' showcases a powerful performance from both band regulars and guests including 'Alone At Sea' - today's Video Of The Day.

The Replicants Wrinklystock VI charity auction setlist, which in the end raised an amazing £310 at at The Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford, on Saturday night, was altered at the last minute given the sad news that Malcom Young had died at the age of 64. The Scottish-Australian musician and songwriter, best known as a co-founder, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and songwriter for AC/DC, died peacefully earlier that day after a long battle with dementia. Fittingly, The Replicants wrapped up their set, joined on stage by the WRC crew, with 'Highway To Hell', which is today's Video Of The Day. Also check out our initial photo gallery here.

The 10-track collection, their sixth studio recording to date, was self-produced by the longstanding trio featuring brothers Oliver and Chris Wood along with Jano Rix. The album’s opening track, 'River Takes the Town' (today's Track Of The Day), is especially poignant. South African singer-songwriter and guitarist, Dan Patlansky, is set to the release his new studio album ‘Perfection Kills’ in the UK on Friday 2nd February 2018. The album is the follow up to 2016’s critically acclaimed ‘Introvertigo’, which was voted #1 Blues Rock Album 2016 by Blues Rock Review. To dovetail with the release of the new album, Dan is currently a special guest on Joanne Shaw Taylor’s nationwide 7-date UK tour that included London’s Royal Festival Hall last night (see today’s Video Of The Day). Patlansky was nominated as one of Classic Rock magazine’s hotly tipped new artists of 2015. His album, ‘Dear Silence Thieves’ received accolades and praise from the British press. He’s been voted Most Promising Male Blues Artist by Blues & Soul Magazine, and only recently has he been nominated as Best International Solo Artist at the Planet Rock Radio ‘Rocks’ Awards. ‘Perfection Kills’ was recorded at Scherzo Productions, a recording studio in Dan’s home town of Pretoria, South Africa and Patlansky produced the album himself, something he hadn’t done in years.
Hard Rock Hell 11 Review 16/11/17
"The 62 year old looks as ripped as a 21 year old gym bunny but with the stage skills of a man who has been entertaining for 40 years. Although struggling with a heavy cold, so sounding huskier than usual, Dee absolutely kicked bottom. The crowd instantly warmed to him and were mesmerised by his singing and amused by his banter. Hugely entertaining, he had everyone in the palm of his hand. When playing new material he playfully requested we don’t all take that opportunity to slope off for a beer - save that for the drum solo he quipped. No one was going anywhere. "

No More Mr. Nice Guy 16/11/17
“From that you will know that we were treated to Swords, Frankenstein and the obligatory Python. In the early part of the set I was pleased to hear one of AC’s newest tracks ‘I’ll Bite Your Face Off’- a personal favourite of mine. Classic after classic follow - with the crowd – Zombies and all – lapping it up. AC may be renowned for all his props but to be honest you don’t really notice all the “distractions” unlike the “stars” of today!!” That was part of our take on Alice Cooper’s Halloween party five years ago and tonight he returns to London’s Wembley Arena supported by The Tubes and The Mission (pictured and Track Of The Day) and we will be there!

Joanne & Dan At RFH Tonight 15/11/17
"Dan’s final encore was the rockin’ ‘Fetch Your Spade’ from ‘DST’, which in itself was a microcosm of an extraordinary set list that those lucky enough to be present had the privilege of experiencing. Despite no new material, this was truly a night of music at its ultimate best - a definitive stick of dynamite rock with Blues running all the way through it. Punters comments such as "what an awesome gig", "such a dynamic guitarist" and “such a great gig” were totally justified - and make no mistake - by a country mile, this is already a contender for our 2017 WRC Best Blues Rock Performance award!" That was part of our take on Dan Patlansky's O2 Academy Islington gig in May and Dan is supporting Joanne Shaw Taylor (Video Of The Day) at the Royal Festival Hall tonight!

Sonic Smile 14/11/17
In August last year we introduced you to one of the best songs of last Summer - if in fact any Summer - namely 'Sound Of The Summer' by Jamie Porter. Jamie's a musician living in North Wales, writing and playing Country Rock infused with Blues and taking them out live with his band. Well as promised, the Jamie Porter Band release their new album 'Sonic Smile' this Friday 17th November and we have a promo of the album as today's Vid Of The Day!

HRH 11 Photo Gallery 13/11/17
With the sold out Hard Rock Hell at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales, over for another year, watch out shortly for our review of the Festival from Mother, but in the meantime check out today's latest HRH 11 photo galley (courtesy of John Bull) here which includes Airbourne (pictured), Fire Red Empress and The Graveltones. Also watch out for more photos from John once he has navigated his way home!

Four years after Adrian Vandenberg made a spectacular comeback with Vandenberg’s MoonKings, the four-piece manage to create a perfect blend of vintage seventies and Heavy rock. Adrian Vandenberg shines as a bonafide guitar virtuoso, while the rest of the band deliver a powerhouse performance. You can also catch them on tour next year at London's Underworld in Camden on Saturday 17th February.

The New Reality 12/11/17
‘The New Reality’ (today's Video Of The Day) is the third and final chapter in the musical trilogy from iconic Metal vocalist Geoff Tate. Due to be released on Friday 1st December, it comes just over a year after the release of the second chapter, entitled ‘Resurrection’, and two since the first, ‘The Key’. Operation: Mindcrime is a creative platform that continues in the spirit of the historic Queensrÿche album of the same name, spawning concepts as grand as the music, and intertwining the intensity of Tate’s iconic past with his former band and the provocative, progressive mindset that has made him one of music's most resolute forces and frontmen. Tate is joined by a cast of musicians - Kelly Gray, John Moyer, Simon Wright, Scott Mercado, Scott Moughton, Brian Tichy and Mike Ferguson, whose talent and resumés speak volumes for the quality of musicianship on display here.
Marsh Blues & Chat 12/11/17
Today's Blues On The Marsh Track Of The Day, originally broadcast on Friday night, features a a chat and music from Kaz Hawkins, plus music from Ghalia and Mama's Boys, Willie May, Supersonic Blues Machine (pictured), JD McPherson, Jarekus Singleton, Dirty Dave Osti, Lex and Joe, Naomi Shelton and The Gospel Queens, Texas Johnny Brown, Basson Laubscher and The Violent Free Peace.
100 Club Tuesday Blues 12/11/17
"Jones' opening drums heralded 'Pressure Valve', the first song on the album, again with great guitar work from Black accompanied by haunting vocals from Turner - critical comparisons to any early Elkie Brooks totally understandable. However, after the hard paced rocker 'Healing Hand' with excellent vocal jousting harmonies between Black and Turner - they saved their best for last - with Zep's 'Since I've Been Loving You' - which was awesome." That was part of our take on Born Healer at BluesRockFest in September 2016 and the band return to London's iconic 100 Club this coming Tuesday supporting Big Gil Gilson & Blues Dynamite (featuring Del Bromham no less) and Crow Black Chicken.
One Week To Wrinklystock VI! 11/11/17

HRH Day 3 11/11/17
This year's sold out Hard Rock Hell at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales, continues today with another great line up including The Von Hertzen Brothers who are not only today's Vid Of The Day but who we also aim to interview before their set. Their recent brand new album 'War Is Over' follows on from 2015’s acclaimed 'New Day Rising' and saw the band take a new approach to their songwriting technique. Anyway, take a look at our initial HRH 11 photo gallery (courtesy of John Bull) here which includes Wayward Sons (pictured).
Prog For Peace Today 11/11/17
"With Marguerita flitting off an on the stage during instrumental interludes - a theme throughout a great set - the next three songs were from the aforementioned 'Given The Impossible' - namely 'A Gentle Warrior' - a delightful fusion of Alexandriou's vocal and Minn's keyboards complemented by some great fret work from Warren, Minn's beautiful piano instrumental on the Emerson sounding 'Letterboxing' and then the superb much heavier and climatic 'Dinosaurs'." That was part of our recent Progtoberfest 2 gig review and the good news is that two of the bands that played that day - The Far Meadow (pictured and Track Of The Day) and The Gift - are playing Prog for Peace with Konchordat and The Room at The Iron Horse, 122 Station Road ,Sidcup DA15 7AB today at 4pm. Tickets are £12 Advance or £15 on the Door (020 8302 8217).

Empyre have recently released their version of 'My Immortal' (Video Of The Day) by Evanescence. The four-piece perform intense, atmospheric Rock, with a dark and introspective edge to their writing. In the words of BBC Introducing their music ranges from “Triumphant, chest beating Rock” to more subtle but just as arresting numbers inviting you to do the deepest of soul searching. Having carved out a vibrant online presence, a strong fan base, an intense sound, coupled with a live show that has fans transfixed with their ferocious musicianship and a captivating lead vocal, Empyre are clearly on an near vertical upwards trajectory. Passion, performance, heart and soul are what drives these midlanders on, a place steeped in Rock and Metal history, once again putting it on the map, letting people know the shows not over.

Inglorious Finally Get Their Award 9/11/17
We had the pleasure of bumping into Inglorious frontman Nathan James and his lovely PA Gill at the awesome Michael Schenker Fest gig last Thursday at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire. Anyway, we explained to them that we still had Inglorious' well deserved 2016 WRC Best Rock Performance award gathering dust at Wrinkly HQ and what was the best way to get it to them. Suffice to say that by Tuesday we had received the photo alongside from their management team (pictured) presenting the award to Nathan on our behalf. The WRC would like to thank all those involved in making this possible. Watch out for our 2017 WRC award nominations in December!
All Or Nothing 9/11/17
Last Friday Alt-Rock duo Anavae released their eagerly anticipated new EP 'Are You Dreaming?' via Eleven Seven Records including their news single ’All Or Nothing’ which is today's Video Of The Day. Anavae is formed of vocalist Rebecca Need-Menear, who has a really stunning voice, and guitarist Jamie Finch who deliver a sound that bridges the gap between Rock and Electronica. The EP also features ‘Forever Dancing’, ‘Stay’, ‘Lose Your Love’ and Are We Alone’, and they have a huge loyal fanbase that has seen them sell-out headline shows in and around London and recently they played at Halifax Pop Explosion Festival in Canada. You can catch Anavae supporting Area 11 on their special Christmas Show on Tuesday 12th December at London’s Boston Music Rooms.
Skyscraper Souls 9/11/17
Super-duo Geoff Downes and Chris Braide, known as the Downes Braide Association (DBA), release their new album 'Skyscraper Souls' on Friday 17th November through their own label X2X Records via Cherry Red, of which the title track is today's Track Of The Day. This is their third collaboration and follows their two previous critically-acclaimed releases 'Pictures of You' (2012) and 'Suburban Ghosts' (2015). Braide is a British singer, songwriter and producer, now based in LA, who has written and produced songs for Beyonce, Lana del Rey and Paloma Faith... to name a few. Geoff Downes is the Prog legend who has played keyboards in The Buggles, Asia & Yes... he co-wrote the hits 'Heat of the Moment' and 'Video Killed the Radio Star'. 'Skyscraper Souls' is a more traditional Progressive/Classic Rock/band album than their previous material, but retains a strong Pop aesthetic and features many great guest contributions, including Marc Almond, Andy Partridge from XTC and Kate Pierson from the B52s.
Schenker Shred Fest! 8/11/17
"Yes Barden in theory was the frontman belting out the numbers in fine style, but Schenker was well and truly taking centre stage with his own personal guitar fest and an endless round of guitar solos. Who said that German's don't have a sense of humour as Schenker introduced his next MSG track as "This is a song about someone". Cue 'Attack Of The Mad Axeman' followed by the 'Killer On The Loose' Lizzy sounding riff of 'Armed And Ready' - even though I thought Halloween was last week? At this juncture Barden left the stage to allow Schenker to prowl around the stage to play the only Scorpions number on the night - the instrumental 'Coast To Coast'."

Cocked And Loaded 7/11/17
"Hit followed hit with a couple of newer tracks getting a show, including 'The Flood's The Fault Of The Rain' which is a future classic. 'Malaria' gave Guns the chance to show some subtler skills although he also chose to use a Theramin - a sound altering device of a bizarre nature which seems to enthral guitarists like Guns and Joe Bonamassa. Doesn't work for me. What did work for me was Guns launching into AC/DC's 'Hells Bells' riff into his classic 'Never Enough'. That's like having Ben and Jerry's with Haagen Daz. Tasty. Which led to the 'Jelly Jam' - Guns excuse to indulge himself, and the crowd, in a jam of assorted riffs and solo's that left all with a satisfied feel. What's better than watching the master at work?"

Living In Fear 7/11/17
On the back of their two sold out shows in London in October and tonight at The Palladium - Prog Rock giants Marillion are playing a seven date UK Tour in April 2018. Their most recent album, 'FEAR' peaked at No. 4 in the UK album charts and No. 1 in the Rock chart last year. After nearly 40 years, the band, featuring Steve Hogarth - lead vocals, lyrics, keyboards, guitars, percussion, Steve Rothery - electric guitars, acoustic guitars, Pete Trewavas - bass, guitar, backing vocals, piano, Mark Kelly - keyboards, samples and effects, backing vocals, programming, Ian Mosley - drums, percussion, has evolved into a vibrant and international musical force, flourishing seemingly outside of fashion and mainstream media exposure. On Friday 13th October Marillion also released an EP on earMusic featuring a live version of their epic 'Living In FEAR'.
Commencing Countdown 6/11/17
"All the songs on this ten track forty two and a half minute long album are credited to the whole band. Some of the material is slightly slower, more grooving and haunting than on their debut 'New World' (2015). Kicking things off confidently is the struttin' 'Land Of The River', its driving riff propels the track onwards, tantalizing trippy guitar refrains pepper the track, with some tasty melodic Wishbone Ash style phrases to excite the ears."

L.A. Guns Photo Gallery 6/11/17
"Now I'm not one for pre-event hype or the sales pitch for a bands latest album but when I read the promo for L.A. Guns latest incarnation it piqued my interest. As a guitar nerd I'm a big fan of Tracii Guns. He's a guitarist's guitarist with a strong following on various social media (facesnapapp thingy) as well as being an integral part of the whole LA rock scene from the 80's. He and I were also born but a few weeks apart so are of the same vintage. But I'm also the most cynical being on the planet so when I read the following press release I had my usual 'Yeah right ....' moment:"

Bone Shaking Blues 6/11/17
Today's Black On Blues Track Of The Day includes tracks from Ronnie Earl, John Verity (pictured), Duke Robillard, Greaseland All Stars, Johnny Oskam and BB & The Blues Shacks.
Balham's Gift 5/11/17
"Hawkins bass intro on opener 'Power' - also the opener on 'WAITT' - saw the bespectacled black 'straightjacketed' presence of Jackson take control of proceedings - the band immediately making a musical statement of intent as well as a political one. Their excellent single 'The Working Man' - cue Jackson's political flag waving - although based on the drive to accumulate possessions and the wastefulness that often follows, was beautifully counterbalanced by the delivery of a couple of guitar solos from Rowberry. Two years ago the band released their next number ‘Last Chance’ for the charity CD compilation ‘Voices for Hospices’, which featured – amongst others - a brand new track from Steve Hackett."

Rising British Metalcore group Death Blooms have revealed their new music video 'Last Ones' (today's Video Of The Day) ahead of UK Tour with Insane Clown Posse and Mushroomhead this November including London's O2 Forum Kentish Town on Sunday 19th. Hailing from Liverpool/Manchester, Death Blooms released their blistering self-titled debut EP last May and received critical acclaim from the press and music fans alike for its melodic Hardcore Metal fusion, and 'Last Ones' is the third clip to be lifted from the band's EP, following the release of 'I'm Dead' and 'Sick' earlier this year. As supporters of the charity MIND, the new music video strongly voices Death Blooms' concern that communities need to pull together and be more understanding of mental health issues in our society, especially as technology rapidly advances.

Irons On Fire 2/11/17
"It was a cold dark night on a Halloween weekend and the streets of Angel, Islington were filled with devils, demons and various decomposing corpses. And that was just inside the venue. Because tonight we are here at the O2 Academy Islington to watch the excellent Iron Maidens, complete with assorted versions of Eddie. An oh-so appropriate band for the occasion. For those of you not familiar with the band (yet, I expect you will be…) Iron Maidens are an LA based all-female tribute act to one of the biggest Rock bands on the planet. It’s no small feat to carry off a good tribute act, let alone one that is at the top of their game and still currently touring. And if said tribute act are also endorsed by the band and have been known to have played with various members of the band, you start to get a picture of how good this lot are. More of that later…."

Bigfooting It In Camden 1/11/17
"Unfortunately, when Dead Man’s Whiskey’s set finished, some of their local fans left, leaving a slightly smaller audience for the arrival of Bigfoot. It was their loss: the missing fans would surely have appreciated Bigfoot, playing the same musical genre, with a similar five man line-up, to their local heroes, but with the added benefit of greater musical experience, plus the charisma and swagger of Antony Ellis up front. Bigfoot’s set started with the compelling dual guitar riffs of ‘Tell me a Lie’ followed by the stand out vocals in ‘Eat Your Words’ - setting the scene for an evening of full-on, well-honed Hard Rock that would have roused any sluggish mid-afternoon crowd, never mind an audience already pulsating from a couple of excellent support bands."
