The Decade That Rocked 31/5/20

Rock Candy Mag has dedicated the prestigious cover slot of its latest issue to an outstanding new coffee-table book of images from legendary US photographer Mark Weiss. The Decade That Rocked is the best visual history of 80's Rock ’n’ Roll and Rock Candy’s feature brings the whole story of Metal’s greatest era to life, with its unforgettable cover image of Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider and his hero Alice Cooper taken on the set of Sister’s ‘Be Chrool To Your Scuel’ video in 1985. Metal fan Weiss captured some of the most iconic images of the era and because he shared the same passions as the bands he worked with he was welcomed into their inner sanctums.

Head's Up - Grunge Over Europe 31/5/20

Our thanks to Replicants frontman Joe Head (pictured) for sharing today's Video Of The Day, a 'Rockumentary' Joe put together of his other band Alice in Chains UK on tour in Germany in April 2019, with their Grunge family - four bands, friends, on the road, living and playing gigs together. With a running time of 46 minutes, Joe says it's no Spinal Tap, but the video has some really fun moments, particularly the first part of footage of the band shenanigans on the ferry over from Dover to Dunkirk!

The Outlaw Orchestra Take A Bow 31/5/20

Ever-rebellious, Southern Country Rock-influenced, 4-piece powerhouse, The Outlaw Orchestra released their hell-raisin' 10-track debut album ‘Pantomime Villains’ on Friday, and to celebrate, the raucous, roof-raising Outlaws released a lyric video to today's Track Of The Day, ‘Take a Bow’ - one of the tracks you’ll find on this varied and vibrant album. A bundle of foot-stomping fun, the band formed in mid-2016 bringing together David Roux (guitars/lead vocals), Ryan Smith (drums/percussion/vocals), Pete Briley (banjo/lap steel/vocals) and Alex Barter (double bass/vocals). Sounding like they’ve been steeped in moonshine since birth, the band do indeed hail from the Deep South – Great Britain's Southampton, to be precise! Accomplished musicianship, rich in hard Southern and 70's-style Rock plus Cajun, Dixie, Country and even Flamenco, brings the ‘Orchestra’ to the party, whilst their deep-set taste for irreverence, not playing by the rules, rebel hearts and sheer energy bring in the ‘Outlaw’ contingent.

The rhythm section for the new line-up features bassist Randy van der Elsen (of NWOBHM heroes Tank) and drummer Koen Herfst (Bobby Kimball, Epica and Doro). There are also two celebrated guests on the album, namely bassist Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne) and drummer Brian Tichy (Foreigner). Headed by the return of bassist Garry Beers (INXS), one of the best vocalists in Rock, Toby Rand, and the highly talented and regarded guitarist Jimmy Khoury, AshenMoon nail the formula that blends 70's, New Wave and modern Rock 'n' Roll into one massive arena worthy sound. Originally a “Passion Project” in Beers’ garage in the heat of the San Fernando Valley, they created the recipe and sound of AshenMoon - majestically anthemic, whilst remaining magnetically intimate.

Being the son of Phil Collins, Simon not only plays the drums, but also some keyboards and all the vocals. However, the rollercoaster that we all face as we become human is the central focus of the album, and it is ultimately a conversation about surrender, renewal, uplift and mortality.

The Isolation Sessions 27/5/20

Today's Video Of The Day is taken from 'The Isolation Sessions', an album of re-imagined favourite songs from Danny Stoakes, all reworked and recorded in isolation, that will be released in the Summer with all money going to help fight Coronavirus. What would AC/DC sound like if Oasis covered them? Add the incredible vocal talents of Burnt Out Wreck frontman Gary Moat on 'A Whole Lotta Rosie', and they were cooking with gas. From Heavy Metal to Country, Rock and Roll to Folk, it's a huge cross section of music delivered in an entirely different style, thanks to collaborations with the creme de la creme of the current Rock scene.

As an activist and inspirational role model she has been smashing through stereotypes for over twenty-five years. With her striking visual image and savagely poetic songs, Skin has been a groundbreaking influence both with Skunk Anansie and as a solo artist. She talks powerfully about her work as social and cultural activist, championing LGBTQ+ rights at a time when few artists were out and gay. Told with honesty and passion, this is the story of how a black, working-class girl with a vision fought poverty and prejudice to write songs, produce and front her own band, and become one of the most influential women in British Rock.

Roulette Vultures 25/5/20

South Coast based Heavy Rock band Black Tree Vultures are the latest ‘must see’ band to join the Roulette family, and their 2019 single ‘Pull Apart’, produced by Grammy nominee Romesh Dodangoda (Motorhead, Funeral for a Friend, Bring Me The Horizon), is today's Video Of The Day. So whether it's the mid-tempo crunchy AC/DC inspired riffing, the faster Motorhead inspired beats or the Rock radio inspired Classic Rock charm, then you are sure to find something to love here.

Darkest Winter 24/5/20

With just one EP, and a mere 30 live-shows under their belt since their formation in late 2017, London based Heavy Metal outfit Louzada wrapped up 2019 with their latest release, 'Darkest Winter', which is today's Track Of The Day. Known for their crafty drum grooves, raw guitar riffs and for powerful, authentic vocal melodies, the band is shaped by luminaries and legends such as Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Linkin Park and Motley Crüe. Indeed, they took their music to the next level working with renowned producer Stuart Epps (Led Zeppelin, Twisted Sister), and are looking to expand their Heavy Metal attitude beyond the digital realm, to the live-stage across the UK and beyond, with their energetic vibe and their driving pulse Rock sound.

They've stuck to what they do best, which is writing catchy, feel good Rock music.

We Got This 23/5/20

Seth Walker's new single, 'We Got This', is today's Video Of The Day, and the song is a rallying cry for people everywhere to come together. While its origins pre-dated the Covid-19 outbreak, Walker completed the lyrics and recording with the help of producer Jano Rix of The Wood Brothers following the shutdown. The accompanying video, which was directed by Austin, Texas, based artist, Gary Dorsey, presents visual images flashing across the screen from crises overcome throughout the history of the United States. This latest release follows Walker's previous single, 'Warm Love', a cover of the Van Morrison classic, released earlier this year and his 2019 studio album, 'Are You Open?'. Marillion Made Again 22/5/20

Marillion had the idea to do a 'lockdown' version of today's Video Of The Day of 'Made Again', not only for their fans, but also for it to be released as a Charity single over the next few weeks. Unbeknown to H, Ian, Mark, Pete and Steve, their manager Lucy made a call (via social media) to ask fans to send in videos of themselves, in the hope of replicating the 'Made Again Stage Invasion' (at their Marillion Weekend in 2013) to surprise them! Lucy and Tim Sidwell (from Toward Infinity), then came clean to the band of their plan and added their 'at home' videos and recordings into the mix. The result is a beautiful video of hope from around the world. Also watch out shortly for an official announcement re: next year's Marillion Weekends!

FM Synchronized 21/5/20

"Hell Or High Water’ takes a more Rock and Roll/boogie stroll along the feel good factor highway, although in contrast, track eleven, the massive ‘Angels Cried’ is, in my opinion, the top tune from ‘Synchronized’, and is a classy Blues based ballad, that ticks all the right boxes from all members of the band. And last, but not least, ‘Ready For Me’ closes out the album in true FM style."

Today read another one of our self-isolating album reviews, as Geoff C. this time gives you his take here on FM's new CD 'Synchronized', which is due to be released this Friday 22nd May, plus check out our Track Of The Day. Remember, if you are currently kicking your heels and you fancy doing a self-isolation CD review, then don't be shy, just e-mail us at wrinklyrockers11@aol.com

Ain't No Sunshine 21/5/20

"No pressure then as they kicked off our fourth BluesRockFest at 3pm at Leo's Red Lion, Gravesend, with already a sizeable crowd in attendance. As expected their forty minute setlist would draw completely on their new album as they opened with the titfer wearing Funkas' cool bassline on 'River' and immediately the Red Lion punters were, ahem, hooked. 'Trust Yourself' with Turner's 'Joplinesque' groovy, gravelly voice and tangible stage presence, was a great foot stomping romp with a great riff from Black. Taj Mahal's 'Leaving Trunk' grooved and rocked in true 60's/70's style whilst 'Brand New Day' emphasised the tightness of a band excelling in all the right places. Black's intro on the album title track took things down tempo with some intricate guitar work combined with Turner's hypnotic captivating voice that saw the appreciative crowd hanging of off every word. Classy." Was it really nearly four years ago that we had Born Healer opening our 2016 BluesRockFest? Well we're really pleased to report that, despite lockdown, the band are still going strong, as testified by today's Video Of The Day, and their version of the late Bill Withers classic - 'Ain't No Sunshine'.

HRH Roadtrip XI Ibiza 2021 21/5/20

With many of the bands put forward by Hard Rock Hell Radio presenters – who had the brief of selecting bands that truly own the stage – the room promises to be simply incredible! A huge opportunity for fans to discover the very latest that British Rock and Metal have to offer, it coincides with the expansion of the event having been understandably forced into a fallow year in 2020.

It's Not Over 20/5/20

Devon based Firekind, have just released their new single, ‘It’s Not Over', and it's out now on all good digital streaming platforms. The 2013 Global Battle of the Bands winners are a modern Rock band, fusing epic, soaring guitar and vocal melodies with driving, powerful drums and bass, consisting of frontman and Guitarist Magazine Guitarist of the Year Jas Morris, his  brother Dan on bass and keys, and drummer Robin Shute. Original drummer and close friend of the band, Dan Collings played drums on this single and their debut album ‘What I have Found Is Already Lost’, which was produced in Los Angeles by the highly acclaimed and sought after Alain Johannes (Queens Of The Stone Age, Chris Cornell, PJ Harvey).

Blue Jacket Ridicule 20/5/20

Screaming from the lockdown, even pandemic protecting masks cannot muffle the anger and bile spilling from eclectic Kent Punks Riskee and The Ridicule, who have just released a great new single called ‘Blue Jacket’, which is today's Video Of The Day, that pokes fun at the ‘Brexit means Brexit at any cost’ ethos. It’s humorous, lyrically dark, yet musically happy. That offset makes for a stark contrast between the disappointment and anger in the words and the optimism in the music. 2019 was an amazing year for the band, that not only saw the highly anticipated release of their third album ‘Body Bag Your Scene’, which was well received by both fans and critics alike, but also their sets at both Rebellion and Boomtown proved to be real highlights.

Ramblin' On In 2021 19/5/20

With a resigned air of inevitability, Spirit of Rock announced yesterday the cancellation of this year’s Ramblin' Man Fair due to be held at Mote Park, Maidstone, over the weekend of July 17th - 19th. However, it will also come as no surprise to learn that many of the bands booked for 2020 have expressed their desire to play at next year’s festival, due to be held over the weekend of  July 16th - 18th July 2021. Indeed, wherever possible, this year's line up will be repeated next year, despite, inevitably, there will be changes as RMF features a large array of international artists, although many of them have already been in touch to already secure their same positions on the bill for next year’s show.

Empire's Natural Selection 19/5/20

WRC favourites Black Orchid Empire have just released their third single 'Natural Selection' (today's Video Of The Day), following on from their last single, 'Winter Keeps Us Warm', taken from their up and coming new third album 'Semaphore', due for release on Friday 12th June via Long Branch Records. It's the folow up to 2018's 'Yugen', although the bad news is that their coinciding four co-headline UK gigs with Exist Immortal have been postponed due to Covid-19.

Regardless of its sombre heart, 'Broken Windows' is an out and out Rock banger, complete with epic solo and driving choruses. Creature Creature consist of Scully – vocals, Zeus – guitars, Dave Cobley – bass, Seb Cole – keys and Matt Hill - drums, and are for fans of Royal Blood, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.

Fearless Dolls 18/5/20

Multi-platinum, four-time Grammy-nominated Rock band Goo Goo Dolls have debuted a brand new lyric video for their single 'Fearless', which is today's Track Of The Day. One of the standout songs from last year's 12th studio album 'Miracle Pill', it's directed and produced by Michael Perlmutter, and the comic-book-inspired piece is a heartfelt celebration of life’s everyday heroes. The band also filmed a live performance of 'Fearless' in association with Global Citizen for their “Together At Home” Series. The stripped-down rendition was recorded in an effort to spread awareness and raise funds for the World Health Organization to help end Coronavirus. In addition to 'Fearless', the engaging and timely album also features numerous other instant-classics such as its smash single/title track and the slow-burn 'Autumn Leaves'.

Eyes Like Fire 18/5/20

Rapidly rising new young Hard Rock trio Theia, who were due to support Magnum on their now cancelled UK & Irish tour, released their latest single ‘Eyes Like Fire’ in March, written by Magnum mastermind Tony Clarkin, which is today's Video Of The Day. Obviously, the Burton-On-Trent band so impressed Tony when they supported Magnum several times last year, that he not only offered his song to them, but also invited them to play as special guest act on Magnum’s entire upcoming UK tour when it's rescheduled later this year. Raised on his father’s record collection of Marc Bolan, Alice Cooper and AC/DC, main man Kyle Lamley, (guitar/lead vocals) teamed up with lifelong friend Paul Edwards (bass/vocals) to form the spine of Theia in 2014, with drummer Ash Lamley recruited in 2019 to complete the current line-up.

Phil May 17/5/20

Today's Video Of The Day of 'I Can't Be Satisfied' is dedicated to The Pretty Things frontman Phil May who has sadly died at 75 after suffering complications from emergency hip surgery after falling from his bike. Formed in 1963 in Sidcup, Kent, by Phil and Dick Taylor, they took their name from Willie Dixon's 1955 song ‘Pretty Thing’, which was initially recorded by Bo Diddley. The Pretty Things were preceded by Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys, which consisted of Dick Taylor on bass, fellow Sidcup Art College student Keith Richards on guitar and Mick Jagger on vocals. When Brian Jones was recruiting for his own band, all three joined Jones and Ian Stewart and were dubbed the "Rollin' Stones" by Jones in June 1962. Taylor quit the Stones five months later, when he was accepted at the Central School of Art and Design in London. It was there that Taylor met Phil and The Pretty Things were born. RIP Phil.

A Bit Of The Other 17/5/20

The Other are back, unleashing what may very well be their most bone-chilling effort yet, releasing their new album, 'Haunted', on Friday 12th June, of which their track 'We're All Dead' is today's Track Of The Day. For as long as it has existed, Germany’s biggest Horror Punk band has been under the spell of monsters, of outsiders, serial killers, apparitions, nightmares and creatures stitched together in secret laboratories. On 'Haunted', however, terror and shock come in a different guise. And with Rod Usher the very figurehead of his undead army, it's their most personal effort yet. And their most painful, at that.

Crosby, Pevar and Raymond Reissue 16/5/20

Yesterday, David Crosby (Track Of The Day) digitally reissued, via BMG, CPR’s two studio albums 'CPR' and 'Just Like Gravity', plus the group’s two live albums - 'Live at Cuesta College' and 'Live at the Wiltern'. All four albums will also be available on CD on Friday 31st July. After being a part of two of Rock & Roll’s most foundational bands (The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, respectively), and four years removed from a life-saving liver transplant, David Crosby channeled the creative frustration he had been feeling into CPR’s 1998 self-titled debut. Joined by noted session guitarist Jeff Pevar and Crosby’s recently reunited son James Raymond, the trio crafted smart, heady, Jazz-indebted Rock that showcased their stunning harmonies. They followed that three years later with 2001’s 'Just Like Gravity', an album that refined the burgeoning trio’s sound.

Believe it, it happened, so enjoy it with a beer in your hand. And our Canadian correspondent Moose On The Loose promises that he will drip feed more Dangerous Canadian Content footage over the coming weeks as part of  an ongoing campaign, so you have been warned!

The Cosmic Barbecue 15/5/20

Dinosaur Pile-Up's brand new podcast, 'The Cosmic Barbecue', the first of the on-going series, is now available on all DSP's here. The podcast finds Matt Bigland (vocals, guitar), Mike Sheils (drums) and Jim Cratchley (bass) discussing “everything and anything”, prompted by questions from fans, and is the band’s way of staying connected during the current coronavirus pandemic. Dinosaur Pile-Up recently released their critically acclaimed new album 'Celebrity Mansions' via Parlophone in 2019, to lay claim as one of the UK’s most exciting and talked-about Rock bands on both sides of the Atlantic.

Bloody Masterminds 15/5/20

Hard Rockers Bloody Heels release their new album ‘Ignite The Sky’ on Friday 10th July, and their first single 'Criminal Masterminds', released at the end of last month, is today's Video Of The Day. The Latvians recently joined the rapidly expanding pool of young talent at the Frontiers label, and one listen to their 2017 debut album ’Through Mystery' will explain why the label simply had to sign them. With nods to the best of the Classic 80’s Hard Rock scene, but also bordering on Heavy Metal, the band is a delightful mix of catchy and driving Rock. With a great whisky-soaked voice, singer Vicky White provides the perfect accompaniment for the musical fire and brimstone that guitarist Harry Rivers, bassist Gunn Everett and drummer Gus Hawk rain down upon listeners to the band.

Blues Club Movement 15/5/20

Todays Blues Club Podcast Track Of The Day is another two hours of non stop Best in Blues and beyond with More Music and Less Chat, featuring new releases, classic tracks and UK IBBA Presenters' Picks, including music from Norman Beaker, Nigel Barker (pictured), Tommy Emmanuel, Marcus King, The Temperance Movement, The James Hunter Six, The Rolling Stones, Heritage Blues Orchestra, Albert King, Robert Cray & Johnny Copeland, Red's Blues, The Blues Band, Fruition and many more.

L.A. Guns Crawl 14/5/20

Having recently signed to Golden Robot Records, the legendary L.A. Guns have released their new single 'Crawl', off their upcoming album 'Renegades'. If there was a band synonymous with the infamous Sunset Strip it is L.A. Guns. Born into a scene that will never be replicated, L.A. Guns rode alongside Motley Crue, Guns N’ Roses, Ratt, Poison, Quiet Riot and co. in one of the biggest movements in music history. L.A. Guns are without a doubt Hollywood Rock Royalty, and now, after some down time, the band is back and firing with the return of Kelly Nickels on bass, Steve Riley on drums, Scotty Griffin on lead guitar and Kurt Frohlich on lead vocals and guitar.

Crobot Gasoline 14/5/20

Today's Video Of The Day is 'Gasoline', taken from Crobot's latest album 'Motherbrain', which follows their runaway hit 'Low Life', which peaked in the Top 10 at the US active Rock charts, following a lengthy 29 week run on the Billboard charts. Crobot plan to resume touring to support the album once restrictions for public gatherings are lifted across North America and Europe. Last year the band played a number of headline and supporting shows across Europe and the UK, as well as festival slots at Wacken Open Air, Ramblin' Man Fair and Alcatraz. All future appearance plans will be shared as they become firm.

Help Somebody 14/5/20

Elles Bailey has teamed up with the charity Heroes, which is very close to her heart, by re-releasing her single and today's Track Of The Day, ‘Help Somebody’, to support 'Their Help Them Help Us' campaign which is supporting frontline NHS workers in a variety of ways. Indeed, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic over recent weeks, particularly the last month, has stirred up powerful memories for award-winning, Bristol based singer-songwriter Elles. It took her back twenty-nine years to when she spent her third birthday in an intensive care hospital ward, being kept alive on a ventilator, supported by the NHS and their team of incredible nurses and doctors. The single’s proceeds will go to Heroes but Elles also wants to encourage people to make a direct donation to the charity itself please.

Die Wilde Jagd 13/5/20

Asenblut, the powerful Metal armada, is back, in company with another beastie longplayer, 'Die Wilde Jagd', due to be released on Friday 29th May. A worthy successor of 2016's 'Berserker', the Melodic Deathers connect to the predecessor, uncompromisingly, fast, melodious but still with brutal ironess, they call the hunting horns for Viking Thrash Metal. The band has used the past years to harden and to gear themselves up to counterpose the twilight of the Gods with their multi-layered Metal. This time great value is set upon to tell stories, which originated in classical mythology, combined with catchy chorus passages, to take the listener on a journey into a fantastic world.

Dion's Blues With Friends 13/5/20

Dion releases his new album 'Blues With Friends' on Joe Bonamassa’s new label - Keeping the Blues Alive Records - on Friday 5th June, and the Rock and Roll legend has just premiered a brand new track 'Bam Bang Boom', featuring lead guitar from ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, which is today's Video Of The Day. For this outing, Dion worked with producer Wayne Hood, in whose Florida studio the basic tracks were recorded. Over the course of the last part of 2019 and the first part of 2020, the album began to take shape. Dion had the songs and the collaborators began to reveal themselves. Indeed, 'Blues With Friends' features 13 tracks with special guests including Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Beck, Paul Simon, Van Morrison, Brian Setzer, Sonny Landreth, Joe Louis Walker, Samantha Fish, Stevie Van Zandt and many more.

Thirteen Stars CD Review 12/5/20

"’Steel Horse’ goes full on Country Rock with plenty of “Yee Haws” for good measure, while, in contrast, ’Keep Calm & Carry On’ fulfils the AOR playlists. This leads us, into the almost Metal sounding Rocker of ‘Razor’s Edge’, duly keeping our devil’s horn hands still raised for ’Break It Down Slowly’, another of the heavier riff laden tracks living in Zeppelin territory, which is the penultimate number to the top tune of this fifteen song collective."

Today read another one of our self-isolating album reviews, as Geoff C. this time gives you his take here on Thirteen Stars new CD 'Finest Ramshackle Jam', which is due to be released on Friday 19th June, plus check out our Video Of The Day. Remember, if you are currently kicking your heels and you fancy doing a self-isolation CD review, then don't be shy, just e-mail us at wrinklyrockers11@aol.com

Little Richard 11/5/20

Richard Wayne Penniman, better known as American singer, songwriter and musician, Little Richard, sadly passed away on Saturday. An influential figure in popular music and culture for seven decades, he was nicknamed "The Innovator", "The Originator" and "The Architect of Rock and Roll". Today's Track Of The Day of 'Long Tall Sally' is dedicated to the Rock legend's memory. RIP Richard.

Daxx & Roxanne Release Party 11/5/20

"Duly lubricated, another cover, the Stones 'Jumpin Jack Flash' was another slam dunk for those present, Pfister subsequently enquiring "Are we having a good time?" as he counted in eins, zwai, drei, into 'Good Vibes', the penultimate track of the set and from the debut album, his question duly answered by those boppin' away down the front, with Golaz joining in the fun playing his guitar behind his back." That was part of our take on Daxx & Roxane's London Black Heart gig back in October, and indeed last Friday night the boys from Montreaux broadcast their own virtual new second album release party, which is today's Video Of The Day.

Seconds Out - A Genesis In My Bed 11/5/20

Friday 24th July sees the publication of A Genesis In My Bed – the long overdue autobiography from guitar great and former member of Genesis, Steve Hackett. As with his music, Steve has written a highly detailed, entertaining and embracing tome that charts his life in full, but with a firm emphasis on his years with Genesis that saw the band’s meteoric rise to become one of the most successful British bands of all time. Steve talks candidly about his early life, his time with Genesis, and in particular his personal relationships with the other four band members, with great insight into the daily goings on of this major Rock band. Naturally, A Genesis In My Bed also regales stories of Steve’s career since leaving Genesis and the many different journeys that it has taken him on. Currently Steve is locked down at home, as we all are, having had to abandon his US tour at short notice. “I’d never had to stop a tour halfway before... At least the gigs were postponed, so we will return!" Steve will also embark upon his 22-date Seconds Out UK Tour this November.

HRH Spring Break Sold Out 10/5/20

Tyr, Lawnmower Deth, Ross The Boss, Autograph and Madam X have also recently joined Hard Rock Hell‘s sold out Spring Break 70 band spectacular, that takes place next year over the weekend of 10th-14th March at Great Yarmouth's Camp HRH. Anyone at HRH AOR back in 2017 will recall the set from Autograph and will no doubt make a beeline for the Californians on the main stage, whilst all the way from Detroit, Michigan - Madam X, featuring the legendary glam sisters Maxine and Roxy Petrucci (plus singer Bret Kaiser and bassist Chris Doliber), will  pay their first visit to the UK in over 30 years.

The Calm Before 10/5/20

Since their re-formation in late 2018, Hertfordshire based 4-piece Electric Black have led guns and guitars blazing, performing over 150 live shows leading up to the release of their debut album, 'The Calm Before', released towards the end of last year, of which their debut video and single, 'Love Is A Light (For The Lost)', is today's Video Of The Day. A timely musical reflection in these days of isolation, it deals with the desire to better ones’ self, ambition and failure, sexual/emotional crossovers and the angst of love. Euphoric, powerful, soaring and melodic; their original anthems take influence from the likes of Bad Company, Jet, Rival Sons and Black Stone Cherry.

Colombia Rocks 9/5/20

Xinnix, a Colombian Rock referent, will release its latest single, 'Stay', as its first English version from their debut homonymous studio album on Friday 26th June. The duo's new track is born as an anthem for all those "on and off relationships", in which reason is usually the last call. Formed in Bogotá in 2018, its name comes from the Nix palindrome, the Greek goddess of the night. A stand out in the Latin American Rock scene, the band is composed of just Mad Kat (bass and lead vocals) and Boris Rodriguez (drums and backing vocals), although this uncommon Rock format certainly widens its horizon in showcasing the electric bass as its main thrust.

Her Chariot Awaits 9/5/20

Newly formed Hard Rock/Metal group Her Chariot Awaits release their eponymous 11-track debut album on Friday 22nd May, of which 'Dead & Gone' is today's Track Of The Day. Featuring the highly regarded Spanish singer Ailyn (ex-Sirenia) on lead vocals and the awesome American guitarist and producer Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob), this exciting new musical alliance came about through the vision of Frontiers, who put the two artists – each eager to create a new and exciting project – in touch. The pair gelled extremely well, and with the help of Jeff Thal – drums and Brian Gearty – bass, created an album that offers songs that will excite all lovers of technical, aggressive, modern and extremely catchy Heavy music. The album is a remarkable union of two great artists who still have a lot to prove, and is going to leave listeners breathless – stay tuned!

Papa Feel Like Home 9/5/20

Fans are encouraged to create their own version of the video from home, for the opportunity to win several prizes, including a Grand Prize of $1,200. All entries are to be submitted here by Sunday 31st May and the band will announce the winners on Monday 8th June.

Florian Schneider 8/5/20

Just days after music lost The Stranglers Dave Greenfield to Covid-19, another keyboard legend has passed away, namely Kraftwerk's Florian Schneider of cancer at the age of 73. Memories of hearing 'Autobahn' (Video Of The Day) for the first time in 1974 in a banged up VW Beetle on the shores of Lake Maggiore, with some newly acquainted German friends, come flooding back. Suffice to say that the German electronic music pioneer formed one of most influential groups of all time with Ralf Hutter in 1970, and changed music forever - Hip-Hop, Synthpop and Rock all owe a debt to him. The double whammy of course is that Covid-19 also prevented the Man Machine performing their trademark multi-media show, combining digital surround sound with breathtaking 3D animations and robotics, at Victoria Park's All Points East at the end of this month.

RIP Florian.

Brothers Osborne UK Tour Rescheduled 7/5/20

The Brothers Osborne UK headline tour, due to take place this month, has now been rescheduled for next year, including Cambridge Junction on Monday 11th January, the prestigious Roundhouse in North London on Thursday 14th January and Leeds O2 Academy (upgraded from Leeds Stylus) on Friday 15th January. A special guest for the six show run will be announced in due course, which comes in the wake of the Maryland natives triumphant debut appearance at Download last year, plus two previous sold-out headline tours in 2018. Their latest album, ‘Live At The Ryman’, released last year, was recorded during the Brothers’ incredible three-night, sold-out run at the famed Ryman auditorium in Nashville in February 2019, featuring material from both of the band’s studio albums - 2016’s ‘Pawn Shop’ and 2018’s ‘Port Saint Joe’.

Haxan's White Noise 7/5/20

UK powerhouse Rock band Häxan are due to release their hotly anticipated debut album 'White Noise' on Friday 24th July, which features today's Track Of The Day 'Skeletons'. This powerful lead single is the perfect gateway to a carefully curated collection of songs that's certain to whet the appetite of the band's fanbase and see Häxan reach new audiences. The Welsh trio are not only on track to deliver one of the best Hard Rock albums of the year, but have also taken the decision to release it during the unprecedented challenges of Covid-19, which is sure to lift Rock fans spirits and dare us to embrace who we are and what we are capable of when we are backed in to a corner.

Sari's Ordinary Life 7/5/20

Instead of her European headline tour, New York Blues Rock singer/songwriter Sari Schorr has been grounded in New York, however, Sari has made today's haunting Video Of The Day using her iPhone, showing striking scenes of the city in social isolation and lockdown. Set  to her 2016 track ‘Ordinary Life’, it's poignant and powerful. It captures a moment in time where ordinary lives became anything but, and when many have learned to be grateful for everyday experiences that we may have taken for granted: a feeling that will resonate with many.

Dave Greenfield 6/5/20

We all have our own support band stories, so let us tell you about the time we saw The Stranglers at London's Nashville Rooms just before Christmas 1975, with the brilliant Dave Greenfield on keys, who sadly died of this bloody Coronavirus last Sunday. As with every support band story, we were there to see headliner's Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias, who in turn we had seen excellently supporting Argent at London's Roundhouse earlier in March. If memory serves us correct, their brilliant set included 'Go Buddy Go', 'Sewer', 'Walk On By', 'Princess Of The Street', 'Fun Fun Fun' and 'Bitching'. With their iconic line-up of Jet, JJ, Hugh and of course Dave, who had replaced Hans Warmling earlier that year, they regularly played the Nashville (nowadays the Three Kings Sports Bar), and indeed today's Video Of The Day is a live recording of 'Peasant In The Big Shitty' from their headline set a year or so later. As they say - the rest is musical history. RIP Dave.

Spidervayne's Sundance 6/5/20

The band comprise of Danny 'Murf' Murphy lead vocals and guitar, Kevin '7' Smy, bass guitar, Sam 'Animal' Varley, drums and the exceptional Mitchell 'Faz' Farrington on lead guitar. Now just 24 months into their musical journey together, and with the feel of Alice in Chains and Soundgarden, they have self-released three impressive singles and released two singles on Roulette, all of which have been playlisted by Rock radio stations worldwide.

Rock On The Ridge Revival 6/5/20

Bloodheads United 5/5/20

Swedish Melodic Power Metal force Bloodbound returned last month with a very special Mini LP entitled 'Bloodheads United' - which is dedicated to its ever-growing fanbase. The title track is not only a brand new studio recording, but it's also a true hymn dedicated to the Bloodbound fans who have kept supporting the band over all their years. This is complemented by four more exclusive live tracks – all recorded at Bang Your Head festival in 2017.

Ov Panrador 5/5/20

Today's Video Of The Day is Pandrador's first single, 'Tiwaz',  taken off the Death Metal band's upcoming album 'Ov Rituals, Ov Ancestors, Ov Destiny', which is due to be released’ on Friday 19th  June. Tiwaz is a fanatical prayer of a dying man, during his glorious last stand, right before he dies. He refers his words to one-handed God, Sovereign of War – Tyr (ᛏᛦᚱ). With that proclamation, he sacrifices his soul, his humanity, and his life energy in exchange for becoming an Einherjar in Valhalla!

Axel Rudi Pell CD Review 4/5/20

"After a first few spins, there’s no doubting the 70’s Classic Rock influences of Deep Purple/Rainbow. Indeed, this record could easily be what Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, featuring Ronnie James Dio, would be releasing now, if they were still together today. Pell has also removed the dated mystic wizards and kings from earlier releases, going for a more up-to-date lyrical choice of content."

Today read another one of our self-isolating album reviews, as Geoff C. this time gives you his take here on Axel Rudi Pell's new CD 'Sign Of The Times', which is due to be released this Friday 8th May, plus check out our Track Of The Day. Remember, if you are currently kicking your heels and you fancy doing a self-isolation CD review, then don't be shy, just e-mail us at wrinklyrockers11@aol.com

Making Plans For Nigel 4/5/20

Nigel Barker has, until now, been a hidden gem of the UK music scene and this exciting, unusual and wholly original artist releases his first single ‘Telling My Troubles To Strangers’ via all major streaming platforms on Friday 15th May, and is taken from his forthcoming new album ‘Five’, which comes out later this year. A real master Bluesman and a phenomenal songwriter who's music straddles, Blues, Americana, Rock and lo-fi Pop, Nigel recorded, produced and mastered all parts himself on this innovative track at his own Wonderland Studios West.

Introducing .... Hidden Phase 4/5/20

Shrouding themselves in mystery, today's Video Of The Day is French Alternative/Prog duo Hidden Phase, who released their debut album - 'The Deviant Place Theory' - last October, that is nuanced and melodic and takes in a number of different sounds and moods to make an atmospheric and engaging album. Its eight tracks showcase the songwriting and musical talents of the Angers duo, aka Identity 1 - vocals/keyboards and Identity 2 - guitars/bass /keyboards, to fine effect. Indeed, there are a number of exceptional tracks with moments of delicacy, heavy guitars, melodic choruses and affecting ballads, of which fans of Tool, Deftones, Porcupine Tree and The Pineapple Thief will find much to enjoy.

Pure Reason Revolution CD Review 3/5/20

"The final song on the album is the monumental labyrinthine title track 'Eupnea', all thirteen minutes and twenty three seconds of it! Opening with the immortal words 'Breathe', it already sounds epic before it even gets off the starting block! Sustained Floyd sounding synth chords set the scene with diaphanous airy harmonic vocals gliding over the top. Rampant guitars hammer out perfectly executed repeating melodic phrases, determined to make their musical statement of intent to facilitate and guide the passage of the piece onwards through the maze of sound and upwards into the euphoric stratosphere."

Today, not only read another one of our self-isolating album reviews, as Steven C. Gilbert gives us his take here on Pure Reason Revolution's 'Eupnea' CD that was released last month, but also check out today's Video Of The Day for their track 'Ghosts & Typhoons'.

Over five decades ago, the iconic British Bluesman made his first mark in R&B hopefuls The Paramounts, then forging his reputation over a five-album tenure with Procol Harum. But for Trower’s long-standing fans, the main event is his solo career, which exploded in 1974 with 'Bridge Of Sighs': the gold-selling masterpiece whose highlights like 'Day Of The Eagle' and 'Too Rolling Stoned' paired his soul-drenched fretwork with the emotive vocals of the late James Dewar.

Empath Devin Live Tonight 2/5/20

Devin's second show in aid of Vancouver’s General Hospital also raised nearly $50,000, and his new album, ‘Empath – The Ultimate Edition’, is due to be released on Friday 5th June.

The self-produced double album which took the Philadelphia-based Rock and Roll act three years to assemble will be released later this year via Contender Records/MidCitizen Records. Alternating between raucous, full-tilt, Rock and Roll ecstasy and gritty, stripped-down vulnerability, 'Private Lives' is Low Cut Connie’s most potent and wide-ranging work to date, a complicated, sprawling epic.
