Bonamassa Retires - Buddy That Is! 31 Jan 2015

Please excuse the WRC for some self indulgence today, because around five years ago, certain WRC members started a greyhound racing syndicate and we politely asked JB connections whether it was OK to use his name - hence the name of our very first dog Bonamassa Buddy! Now after a very succesful racing career - Joe (which is his kennel name) has now put his paws up and retired - now living with Wrinkly (Colin) no less!   Anyway our 'Video Of The Day' is therefore 'Joe's Story' - set of course to the classic Joe Bonamassa tracks of India and Mountain Time. Go Joe!

100 Club Photo Gallery Now Available 31 Jan 2015

We think it was worth waiting for so go here to see our Photo Gallery of the Aynsley Lister/Little Devils/Stark gig at the 100 Club on Tuesday night. It might not be up to John Bull or Jon Cook's standards but hopefully this WRC collage will give you a feel as to what a great night it was. Thanks also to Kelly Davis who contacted us to say "Thanks so much for giving Stark such a great review. They've had a pretty amazing time this week - Skegness on Sunday, Haven Club in Oxford on Monday and the 100 Club on Tuesday! Paul Stiles will be also running a feature on them in the March issue of 'Blues in Britain'!" You're welcome Kelly and by the way, given the last minute switch of 'Joe's Story' as 'Video Of The Day' - the new Little Devils 100 Club vid has now been carried over till tomorrow :-(

Just Two Weeks To Go To Fiddler's Gig! 31 Jan 2015

Tickets can be purchased here but don't forget our latest membership offer of £3 tickets if you go to the trouble of joining our FREE membership scheme! No brainer!

Rainbreakers Complete BluesRockfest Line-Up! 30 Jan 2015

Our BluesRockfest jigsaw is now complete as The Rainbreakers have filled the sixth and final berth on the 4th July at The Red Lion in Gravesend. Renown for crafting a stripped down approach - smearing the lines between rock, pop, blues and soul - they are another valuable addition to an already awesome line-up. Go here for ticket information plus a video low-down on this year's bands.

The Devil Is In The Detail 2! 30 Jan 2015

As we always say at the WRC - feedback is the lifeblood of our website. So we were delighted to hear from Graeme from Little Devils following their classy set at the 100 Club on Tuesday night! "Hi guys - great to see you at the 100 Club - hope you enjoyed the gig - a great turn out for a cold January Tuesday night! Yoka mentioned to me that you wanted the set list? Here you go: Little Devil, Wounded, The Ghost of your Kiss, Love Me Like A Man, A Long Time Ago, Deep Inside, Chinese Whispers, My Perfect You, Rock & Roll Shoes, No Love Lost (encore). Hope to see you again before BluesRockfest!" Thanks Graeme - go the review here and watch out for a Little Devils vid tomorrow from the gig which is our 'Video Of The Day'!

Magnum Touring UK Next Week! 30 Jan 2015

Wrinkly The Silver (left) & Wrinkly The Biker's (right) old mate Bob Catley is on the road with Magnum next week with gigs in Liverpool (6th) and Minehead( 7th) before the guys starting working on a new album. They will be supported by Vega, a five-piece band from the Midlands who released a new album last year entitled 'Stereo Messiah'. Anyway check-out our 'Video Of The Day' and remember that - other than a few festival appearances in the Summer - this will be your last chance to see Magnum in the flesh this year!

Aynsley's Back! 29Jan 2015

Aynsley Lister literally played through the pain barrier at The 100 Club on Tuesday night. Suffering from a trapped nerve in his back (which necessitated the cancellation of his Robin 2 gig last Thursday no less) and consequently drugged up to the eyeballs on painkillers, Aynsley put in a killer performance which belied the agony he's been in. Drawing mainly on tracks from his  last album 'Home'  - for which Lister deservedly won both 'Best Blues Song ' and 'Best Songwriter' at the 2014 British Blues Awards - his undoubted quality as a guitarist and vocalist is not only complemented by the strength of his back-catalogue e.g. 'Equilibrium'  but also his band - despite another change in his line-up since we last saw them at last year's Bluesfest. A great set to end a great evening of live Blues - but no pat on the back Aynsley! See our review here.

The Devil Is In The Detail! 29 Jan 2015

Having already heard lots of good things about Little Devils and given that our Promotions arm had already nabbed them for this year's BluesRockfest - it's fair to say that having seen Aynsley and Stark previously - my expectation of Little Devils was a tasty bit of meat in a Blues sandwich ... and I was not wrong. The powerful voice and stage presence of Yoka Qureshi would float most Blues fanatics boats but the engine room of bass guitarist Graeme Wheatley and drummer Sara Shaw  plus the dexterity of lead guitarist Ray Qureshi equates to the Devils being a formidable Blues unit. As Yoka pointed out to me after the set, they write all their own stuff and are curently recording a new album, which includes the track 'My Perfect Year ' which was included in their storming set. Independence Day looks even more appetising now given this performance although before then Yoka and Litle Devils are supporting her  Dutch compatriot and fellow flautist Thijs Van Leer and Focus at the end of February at the Norwich and Doncaster Festival.

Stark Contrast! 29 Jan 2015

The first time the WRC came across Brighton based band Stark was when we were sent their EP 'Where The Grey Slates Meet' (we have to get some perks) with the single 'Circle Roads' jumping right out at you. Needless to say we had a moan at lead singer/guitarist Jamie Francis for leaving it out of their set  - in fact we only recognised Ball and Chain from their second EP. To be fair though, the critical acclaim that Stark have recently received for their unique take on the Blues was clearly evident - their tightness and harmonies  on new material such as Crash On The Levee, Sail The Jordan ('Video Of The Day') and Death Letter. Watch out for another perk as Stark release their new single as a free download on March 2nd from http://www.starkband.com

100 Club Gig Kicks Off 2015! 28 Jan 2015

Our first official WRC outing of 2015 took in Aynsley Lister ('Video Of The Day') plus a the very impressive undercard of WRC Award winners Little Devils and Stark last night. Oscar Winning Ryan Bingham Up Next! 28 Jan 2015

Well the WRC gig rollercoaster is now well and truly on the move and next up is Academy Award winner Ryan Bingham at a sold out Borderline next Monday. The WRC originally saw Ryan with his band The Dead Horses at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park in June 2011 and were blown away. Needless to say we didn't hesitate to purchase tickets once the gig was announced. If you are going as well then please let us know :-)

Greece Is The Word! 28 Jan 2015

While the recent Greek elections were making the news headlines, Wrinkly Towers was delighted to receive our latest membership application from Crete! Although our latest membership offer of £3 tickets to see Blacktop Deluxe at The Fiddler's Elbow on Saturday 14th February, might still be financially prohibitive for Chris to fly over - but hey, £3 to see two great bands must be worth the effort of joining our FREE membership scheme - just for that alone! Welcome aboard Chris!

100 Club Here We Come! 27 Jan 2015

She might be a 66 year-old Wrinkly Rocker from Ontario, but we're pretty sure that the Mom of one the Grindcore Band 'Corrupt Leaders' - featured in our 'Video Of The Day' - is not on the bill at the 100 Club tonight! Yep - the WRC are off to see 2014 WRC award winners Little Devils and Stark plus Bluesfest 2014 Headliner Aynsley Lister in a tasty triple-header.
