Hot 'N' Heavy 30/5/19

Hot ’n’ Heavy', the new studio album from Scarlet Aura released in March, heavily draws from Symphonic and Power Metal to Heavy Metal and stays within a unique sound and vision of the band. Today's Track Of The Day 'Hail To You!', taken from the album, is the combination of fast tempo, catchy guitar riffs, and powerful lyrics, together with powerful and touching vocals that could set 'Hail to You!' as the next Metal anthem for the new Metal generation. This is their fourth studio album, written and produced by Scarlet Aura guitar player and producer Mihai Danciulescu. A concept album, it's the first in the trilogy entitled 'The Book of Scarlet', which introduces listeners to the world of Scarlet Aura and explains with every song about the band and what it stands for.

Slim Chance At Eel Pie Tonight 30/5/19

"Two more Faces songs penned by Lane rounded off the set - another from 'ANIAGAAW' - 'You're So Rude' - originally sung by Ronnie but with vocals from Steve - with Charlie's accordion now in overdrive plus another blistering guitar solo from Steve - and the title track of The Faces last album 'Ooh La La' - which according to Ian McLagan, "was Ronnie Lane's album" with Simpson on vocals and mandolin plus a keys solo from Watkins which McLagan would no doubt have savoured. A cracking encore of Louis Prima's 'Buona Sera Signorina' a tango that rocked which belied its sixty years vintage was the last opportunity for the boys to excel with Geraint on keys/vocals plus final solos from Charlie (fiddle) and Steve (guitar). Talking to Charlie after the show he said "I thought the lads gave it their all as usual so its a band I'm proud to be part of." Just goes to show Charlie that class is permanent. No doubt Ronnie would be proud of you all mate." That was part of our take on Slim Chance nearly three years ago at the Eel Pie Club (pictured) and the band return to the same Twickenham venue tonight!

SOP will be on stage around 8.15pm, and the band consisting of Threshold drummer Johanne James, alongside main songwriters Tracie Law and Pam Chowhan, will be featuring as much of the album as possible, but today's Video Of The Day ‘Futile’ will definitely be one of the highlights!

Bucket's Half Moon 29/5/19

"After the excellent opener ‘Animal Beat’ and the radio-friendly hook of the title track, ‘Rebel Heart’ sees Stapley mining a higher register (more akin to the sound of Foreigner perhaps) and we do get treated to a Marriott after all! On this track and the next pair, ‘The Bridge’ and ‘Whiskeyland’ (the latter of which features lead guitar by Ross McEwen), the strong backing vocals are provided by Steve’s daughter Mollie, whose contributions are instantly recognisable, even at this early stage in her career. ‘Rebel Heart’ and ‘The Bridge’ also feature some nice piano work by Richard Young." That was part of our take on Dave “Bucket” Colwell's latest CD '20 Good Summers' (Video Of The Day) and Bucket & Co are heading off on a six date UK tour at the end of June, supported by Collateral, that culminates on Thursday 4th July at London's Half Moon in Putney.

The line-up was completed a year later with singer Jan Thore Grefstad (ex-Highland Glory), guitarist Toya Johansson and bass player Nobby Noberg (ex-Dionysus). The band signed a worldwide deal with Frontiers Records that same year - which resulted in the two critically acclaimed albums, 'In Shadows Lost From The Brave‘ (2008) and 'Pandeamonium‘ (2009). Now with their new drummer Jarle Bylund (ex-Shining), Saint Deamon is preparing for their third album and world ascendancy!

Can't Go On 28/5/19

Following four previous singles, all of which build on the success of the last, Melbourne-based Pop fusion collective President Street's new offering, ‘Can’t Go On’, today's Video Of The Day', has already pulled together a following that is sure to eclipse their previous outings. The current line-up of the moveable feast is headed up by the multi-talented Pete Moses, whether it’s keyboards, guitar, percussion, you name it. This new single is set to take things to the next level, in all areas. With an eclectic style that means it’s hard to know where they will go next – A pure Pop ballad? A sweepingly cinematic three-act drama? – President Street are bringing quality back to radio-friendly music in a big way.

Restless Spirits 27/5/19

Lords Of Black guitarist Tony Hernando is one of the most talented and prolific musicians in the European Hard Rock genre. His new solo album under the moniker 'Restless Spirits' released earlier this month (Track Of The Day), sees him step away from the overtly Metal sound of Lords Of Black and features an array of different singers on a set of songs that covers the Melodic Hard Rock genre. Guest vocalists are a who’s who of the scene: Johnny Gioeli (Hardline, Axel Rudi Pell), Deen Castronovo (Revolution Saints, ex-Journey), Dino Jelusic (Animal Drive), Kent Hilli (Perfect Plan), Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline) and Diego Valdez (Dream Child) - with Castronovo also playing drums on the entire record. ‘Restless Spirits’ not only highlights Hernando’s talents as a musician and songwriter, but it also showcases some of the most outstanding vocal talents around. A must hear for fans of Melodic Hard Rock!

Ramblin' Man Fair Traveler 27/5/19

Ahead of their new album ‘The Traveler,’ due to be released on Provogue this Friday 31st May, Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band have announced that they will be returning once again to headline the Outlaw Country Stage at Ramblin’ Man Fair this July and have added extra dates to their UK tour for November. The band also recently unveiled their brand new song 'Gravity', taken from the upcoming album, which is today's Video Of The Day. We are all travellers. And for the last quarter-century, riding shotgun with Kenny Wayne Shepherd has been the greatest road-trip in Rock ‘n’ Roll. Gone is the young Louisiana gunslinger who erupted onto the early-90's scene with his burn-it-down guitar solos and gut-punch songcraft. The 41-year-old he’s become is even more magnetic, still pushing his Fender Strat where others fear to fret, while diving deep into human truths and global concerns with an honesty that only comes with age and miles on the clock. Gas up and get ready.

Following their sold-out “Still Got the Rock” European Tour, legendary 70’s Rock band Sweet embark upon the perfect Christmas gift for their UK fans, a 16-date nationwide tour from Thursday 28th November until Saturday 21st December including London's Islington Assembly Hall on Wednesday 18th December. Into The Night 26/5/19

The New Strange is a unique musical partnership between James Durbin, of American Idol fame, and journeyman Rock guitarist Alex Grossi, and today's Track Of The Day is their musical take on one of the biggest Pop hits of all time Benny Mardones 'Into The Night'. They released the track last Friday along with the band's original track, the arena-ready 'Tomorrow Never Comes'. Both tracks were recorded and produced by Alistair James who most recently worked with the Joe Perry/Alice Cooper/Johnny Depp project "Hollywood Vampires". Alex and James have worked both individually and collectively on various projects, with music placed with Walt Disney Touchstone Pictures FX NBC VH1 ABC FOX and many others writing original material as well re-working existing tracks to fit with the producer or director's vision.

Ace JoanovArc Tonight 26/5/19

"For the lyric lover this not a collection of silly love songs, no we are dealing with the London riots of 2011, drug addiction, two-faced friends, reflection, denial, delusion and mixed emotions to name a few subject matters. The opening track ‘Burning’ for me is the top number simply on strength of the epic chorus, followed closely by ‘Down By the River’ with ‘Waiting For’ sandwiched in-between making a good opening three." That was part of our 'JoanovArc' CD review here which is out this Friday 31st May, and to coincide with its release they are playing London's Ace Cafe tonight.

Half Man Half God 25/5/19

Don Broco have shared the video for their latest single, ‘Half Man Half God’, ahead of their run of UK festival dates this Summer at London's Community Festival, Kendal Calling, Y Not Festival and Truck Festival. Today's Video Of The Day features footage from their phenomenal show at Wembley Arena earlier this year, with the band’s infamous cowboy captured in a darkly lit, ominous room before he launches into the crowd, laughing maniacally amid euphoric chaos. The video comes fresh off the back of their recent US tour with Dance Gavin Dance, which saw them play a huge string of dates across North America throughout March, April and May. Now the band have announced their first ever US headline tour and sees them returning in September for string of 24 dates. Earlier in the year, the band headed out on an extensive European run, including a number of UK arena shows which saw them sell out two dates in Manchester and play to a packed-out Wembley Arena in support of their critically acclaimed, Top 5 album 'Technology', released last year.

Myths, Legends And Lies 25/5/19

Danny Vaughn is recognised worldwide for his melodic, powerful & emotional vocals. To lovers of Rock, Danny is best-known for his involvement with Waysted (1985-1987) and famed for his flourishing voice-work with Melodic Rockers Tyketto. Now, this talented singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and storyteller is about to launch his latest solo album: his first in eleven years. It's the solo album Vaughn always wanted to make and 'Myths, Legends and Lies', due to be released via Townsend Music on Friday 7th June, is a 14-track album that had to overcome some serious obstacles along the way, but draws together many years of influences and inspiration. To coincide with the album's release, Danny will also be undertaking a new UK tour including London's Black Heart in Camden on Thursday 22nd August.

The recent release of their single ‘World Of Misery’ found the band, consisting of Jack Stiles (vocals), Pete Lance (guitar), James Scott (bass) and Steve Price (drums), on unassailable form with its driving crisp riff getting stuck in our heads for days! Currently working on their debut album, Vambo (pictured) know the value of a good tune and with their unique, incendiary blend of rocked out rhythms, scorching solos and lung-busting Blues laden soulful vocals, they are always guaranteed to gain new fans. Vambo are also playing the Download Festival on Saturday 15th June, and with more dates being lined up, 2019 promises to be very good year for Vambo and fans of honest Rock’ 'n’ Roll.

Radio, Great Music Stories and more.

Bigfooting It To The Underworld Tonight 24/5/19

"As is often the case, Bigfoot saved the best till last: their set finished with the first single taken from their album, ‘The Fear’, a dark and frantic song about how the fear in our heads can take over our lives.  ‘The Fear’ mixes heavy in your face Rock guitar with searing melodic anthems and big, uplifting vocals – a fitting finale to a compelling set and an awesome evening of complementary Rock music." That was part of our take on Bigfoot at London's Underworld back in October 2017 (pictured), and they return to the same Camden venue tonight in support of The Treatment and Bexatron, in advance, sadly, of their September farewell tour. Tausend Lowen Unter Feinden 22/5/19

German Hardcore/Metal band Tausend Lowen Unter Feinden release their new album on Friday 14th June. 'Zwischenwelt' is a concept album about the impermanence of transience. The protagonist feels trapped in the present as in an intermediate world. He is confronted with the ills of society, the arrogance of humanity and a progressive change that goes beyond the limits of the comprehensible for the individual. He struggles to position his person in the immediate and extended living space. In his search for the original meaning of human existence, he filters the values that are essential to him. Finally, the acceptance of transience and non-existent power over life leads him to a consciousness level of mindfulness. 'Zwischenwelt' is the consistent, musical development of TLUF and is characterized by a distinctive sound. Gloomy, socially critical, demanding as well as hopeful and optimistic at the same time.

Ana Popovic Borderline Review 22/5/19

"Sporting 5-inch heels and a slit skirt with a flat as an ironing board bare midriff, her long blonde hair falling around her shoulders, the guitarist presented a powerful visual image, which was backed up by equally impressive musical chops. She certainly knew her way around the fretboard of her various Stratocasters, playing fluid and lightning fast runs. While her influences may have originated in the Blues, almost none of the songs she played had a standard Blues chord structure.  ‘Can You Stand the Heat’, the title track of her 2013 album, and ‘Object of Obsession’, set the scene for the rest of the evening - funky beats and a busy bassline with the two-man horn section bang on the money with their brass stabs and tight riffs, over which Ana played some flowing, extended lead lines."

Run Me Down 20/5/19

Dan Owen recently released his brand new single ‘Run Me Down’, that finds Dan making a bold return, and is the first taste of new music since the release of his highly acclaimed debut album 'Stay Awake With Me' last year. The song reflects Dan’s development and journey, from the early days of playing pubs in his Shrewsbury hometown to becoming an international touring artist. Consequently, today's Video Of The Day finds Dan putting a dash of Hollywood into his Shrewsbury roots and captures an intense captivating road trip through the English countryside. Having played across the world with the likes of Jake Bugg, Kaleo, Birdy, Alice Merton and Imelda May and completing numerous sold out headline tours across the UK, Europe and US, he has gained new perspectives, independence and direction along the way.

Ridin' A Chicken 20/5/19

Today's Track Of The Day is taken from Blues Music Award nominee Big Joe Shelton's album 'Ridin' A Chicken' that was released almost exactly two years ago. Born in the Black Prairie region of North East Mississippi, Shelton was exposed to an African-American culture, which still strongly reflected that of the early part of the twentith century. That Black Belt region was also the birthplace of Blues legends Howlin’ Wolf, Bukka White and Big Joe Williams, and as a young man Shelton was fortunate in befriending Williams, and this association greatly influenced his band that consists of Big Joe (vocals, harmonica), Ben Ferrell (guitar), Ed Swan (bass) and Bob Damm (drums).

All of that great music has shaped Dee Rock's style and sent him down the road he's on. Rock has found success in both sides of the music industry ~ on stage and off ~ from producing artists and song writing for various record companies including Virgin, EMI and Capitol Records, to writing the soundtrack for the Warner Bros. film 'Divas'.

XXX Anniversary Live 19/5/19

Virtuoso German Heavy Metal Guitarist Axel Rudi Pell will celebrate three decades as a solo artist with the release of his brand new ‘XXX Anniversary Live’ album on Steamhammer/SPV on Friday 7th June. ‘XXX Anniversary Live’, moreover, will come out on the same record label that released Axel’s debut ‘Wild Obsession’ in 1989, his contract with SPV having lasted 30 years - longer than the average marriage. 'XXX Anniversary Live', a stunning document of his most recent tour, was not planned at all, but the recordings, from Bochum and Budapest among others, were so good that Axel felt he just couldn’t scrap them. A more than worthy follow-up to 'Magic Moments', (his 3-hour anniversary show at the ‘Bang Your Head’ festival in 2014, where he celebrated 25 years as a solo artist), 'XXX Anniversary Live' is an exhilarating, glorious celebration of Axel Rudi Pell’s monumental career to date.

Pearce And The Hooligans (the solo project of the esteemed Love/Hate guitarist) and Oxford Metal crew Silk Road. Dubbed ’The Outlaw Hooligan Run’, the Derbyshire based Hard Rock, Blues tinged quintet released their well received ‘Hard Times’ album in May 2018 and subsequently spent much of the year on the road with Jizzy Pearl (Love/Hate), the Graham Bonnet Band and Wayward Sons, as well as performing at festivals such as Bloodstock plus the very first Frontiers Rock UK Festival held in Birmingham.

Borderline Collateral Tonight 18/5/19

"The debut offering definitely brings promise of things to come with many of their major influences cutting through from the likes of Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and from what I've seen of them live, some rock poses à la The Darkness." That was part of our take on 2018 WRC One's To Watch award winners Collateral's EP 'Shots', and the band are playing London's the Borderline at 8pm tonight with Daxx & Roxanne and Temple of One. Collateral’s single “Lullaby” (today's Track Of The Day) is currently being played on high rotation on Planet Rock, in advance of September, when they release their eponymous debut album and will tour the UK with Piston.

Lexington Glitter Tonight 18/5/19

If you like your music loud with raw vocals, searing guitars, a driving bass and thumping drums, then head on down to The Lexington tonight for Glitter Machine's first live show, with support from Oh Baby and Dominic McGuiness. Last Tuesday we had the pleasure of interviewing frontman John McKeown and bass guitarist Rick Hornby, so listen here to our latest Wrinklycast interview as we discuss amongst other things, vampires, sheep, their new album 'Hanging Out For Fame', a guitar lesson from Graham Nash, God is a cat, the impending closure of The Borderline and why John is not in the picture alongside!

JoanovArc CD Review 17/5/19

"For the lyric lover this not a collection of silly love songs, no we are dealing with the London riots of 2011, drug addiction, two-faced friends, reflection, denial, delusion and mixed emotions to name a few subject matters. The opening track ‘Burning’ for me is the top number simply on strength of the epic chorus, followed closely by ‘Down By the River’ with ‘Waiting For’ sandwiched in-between making a good opening three."

Off The Cuff Superfecta Tonight 17/5/19

London based Indie Rock Band Superfecta have recently taken their debut album 'Disconnect' on the road, but tonight they return to their home town to play at Herne Hill's Off The Cuff venue. Tomorrow the band are back on the road, as they head down towards the Kent coast to play Folkestone's Dementia Aware Festival.

Lethbridge Owen CD Review 16/5/19

"Hendrix is quoted as an influence and it shows, as the solos have a real bite. A number of songs are upbeat and rocky, like ‘Two Steps Forward’ (or even a bit Funky, like on ‘Back To The Blue’) without compromising the melodic content or breaking up the homogenous feel of the album.  I’ve been playing this album non-stop without remotely getting to the point of overfamiliarity; it’s a collection that bears repeated listening and whets the appetite for hearing them live as well as raising expectations about what they will produce next.  When it comes to genre descriptions perhaps its best just to file this under “good music”."

Jag Panzer Underworld Tonight 16/5/19

US Power Metal pioneers Jag Panzer (Track Of The Day), whose tenth studio album, ‘The Deviant Chord’ was released to huge acclaim on SPV in September 2017, kick off a major European headline tour commencing at London’s Camden Underworld tonight. Consisting of Harry Conklin – vocals, Mark Briody – guitars, Joey Tafolla – guitars, John Tetley – bass and Rikard Stjernquist – drums, the resultant comeback album was a veritable Metal manifesto, containing a host of typically Jag Panzer style classic Melodic Power Metal compositions. The Jag Panzer tour then heads off to France, Spain, Holland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Sweden.

Fish Caught By Thames Tonight 16/5/19

Multi-Award-winning American Blues guitarist and singer-songwriter Samantha Fish stops off at London's The Garage tonight as part of her May 2019 UK Tour. The tour coincides with Samantha’s new studio album, which is the follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2017 albums 'Belle of the West' and 'Chills & Fever'. After launching her recording career in 2009, Samantha quickly established herself as a rising star in the contemporary Blues world. Since then, the charismatic young singer-guitarist-songwriter has earned a reputation as a rising guitar hero and powerful live performer, while releasing a series of acclaimed albums that have shown her restless creative spirit consistently taking her in new and exciting musical directions. Special guests are London-based Americana band Curse Of Lono who released their second album ‘As I Fell’ last year and their sound can best be described as a “sumptuously cinematic record that combines harmony-laden Americana with driving, Gothic Alt-Rock”.

Bad News All Round 15/5/19

It was not a great day for music fans on Monday with the news that not only has Glenn Hughes had to cancel his current UK May tour, but also that one of London's iconic gig venues, The Borderline, is to close down on Saturday 31st August. Hughes' press statement read "Glenn Hughes needs to postpone his upcoming 'Performs Classic Deep Purple Live' due to illness. He sends his regrets that he is unable to perform his UK tour which was due to start at the Holmfirth Picturedrome on Tuesday 14th May through Friday 24th May.  He needs to be treated for an illness that while not life threatening, must be dealt with immediately in order for it to not become a serious problem. He is expected to make a full recovery and be back on the road in June." Meanwhile, The Borderline tweeted "It is with a heavy heart that we announce @theborderline will close its doors for the last time this summer. This has been an extremely difficult decision & one we are very sad to make."

Rock On The Ridge Communion 15/5/19

On today's WRC Award winning Rock On The Ridge Track Of The Day, there's music from Gasoline Outlaws, Motion Device, Royal Bliss, At The Sun, The Treatment, Bad Touch, Sammy Hagar, The Howling Tides, Black Whiskey, The Dust Coda, Mouth In The South, Whitesnake/David Coverdale, Rival SonsJethro Tull, Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics, Beasto Blanco, Electric Mary, We Three Kings, Mississippi Riot, Matt Mitchell & The Coldhearts, Catfish, Black Country Communion (pictured) and on their Introducing Stage,  two in a row from Dirty Honey.

Line Of Fire 15/5/19

2010 saw a marriage made in Melodic Rock heaven between Canadian Rock vocalist Harry Hess (Harem Scarem) and German producer Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Khymera) as First Signal. Hess had been presented with a set of songs by Frontiers that had the same vibe and magic as Harem Scarem (who were on hiatus at the time), and an ensuing self-titled debut album received great acclaim. A second record, ‘One Step Over The Line’, followed in 2016, for which Hess enlisted the help of Swedish producer Daniel Flores (Find Me, The Murder Of My Sweet). Once again, the inspiration behind its songs were the first two Harem Scarem albums, but, as with the debut, new twists were thrown in with songs running the gamut from AOR to Arena Hard Rock. Similarly well received, the recording of a third album was therefore a no-brainer. With production duties again handled by Daniel Flores, ‘Line of Fire’ (Video Of The Day), due to be released on Friday 17th May, is another awesome slab of great AOR/Melodic Rock for the 21st century!

Marco Mendoza Lounge Review 14/5/19

"Marco arrives to the stage weaving himself through the crowd to the intro, almost Angus Young style, hitting the stage to open with ‘Viva La Rock’. Leaving his two earlier albums behind with their more Jazz fused Rock, the present album brings a distinct David Lee Roth sound and feel and we are treated to a few cover versions of acts that Marco has played with over his career. Thin Lizzy’s ‘Chinatown’ and Ted Nugent’s ‘Hey Baby’ are two that are covered on both the album and in his live set."

Pennies For Your Thoughts 13/5/19

"Matthews' 'Queen of All The City' keeps things rocking, all about that women who is out of your league - or is she? with Matthew's bass and Dave Two-Jackets drums driving things along very nicely with more great work from Seager and Stocker. And you take the man out of the Medway but you can't take the Medway out of the man - Gary's 'Midnight Train' - all about being run out of town - sees Bad Pennies all aboard and rocking and a rolling all the way down those Medway tracks before the band jump off the wagon once more on Matthews' 'Temperance Boogie' - another crackerjack - albeit its sentiment being that it can make a good man go bad." That was part of our take last year on Bad Pennies CD 'Songs From The Medway Delta' and the guys duly walked off with our 2018 WRC Best Reviewed CD award. So a big thank you to Iron Horse manager Julie Hamley for presenting the guys with their deserved award (pictured) when they played Julie's Sidcup, Kent, music venue last Saturday night!

Borderline Coming Up Roses 13/5/19

After an intense touring schedule over the last few years, The New Roses will be back in the UK this year when they play the London Borderline on Thursday 28th November, as part of their ‘Nothing But Wild' Tour. The German band are the epitome of ‘Blue Collar Working Class Rock ’n’ Roll Music’, which is represented in their lyrics and manifests itself in an incredible connection to their fans. The unique sound was created through several diverse influences from Classic and Hard Rock, Country and Blues, which makes them the premier stadium Rock ’n’ Roll band out there. Their two albums ‘Dead Man’s Voice’ (2016) and ‘One More For The Road’ (2017) received international praise and today's Video Of The Day - ‘Without a Trace’ - was picked for the soundtrack of US TV series ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ plus the series’ trailer campaign in Germany.

The long-awaited follow-up to a self-titled album released in 2001, ‘Winds Of Change’ (today's Video Of The Day) was released last month featuring new songs by Survivor founder Jim Peterik in collaboration with a who’s who of Melodic Rock stars, including Kevin Chalfant (ex-The Storm), Dennis DeYoung (ex-Styx), Danny Vaughn (Tyketto), Matthew and Gunnar Nelson (Nelson), Kelly Keagy (Night Ranger), Lars Safsund and Robert Sall (Work Of Art), Toby Hitchcock (Pride Of Lions), Mike Reno (Loverboy), Jason Scheff (ex-Chicago) Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon) and a previously unreleased track by the late Jimi Jamison. ‘Winds Of Change’ continues this tradition and live dates are being planned that will reflect the line-up of this record.

Brotherhood Of Metal 12/5/19

Legendary US Heavy Metal trio The Rods have signed to Steamhammer/SPV to release their resounding seventh studio album ‘Brotherhood Of Metal’ on Friday 7th June. Hailing from upstate New York, The Rods were formed in Spring 1980 by guitarist/vocalist David ‘Rock’ Feinstein, whose first brush with success had come a decade earlier as a member of Elf with his cousin Ronnie James Dio from 1967-1973. Six years and five albums later, The Rods decided to go separate ways in 1986 and disappeared from the scene for more than twenty years, rising again like a phoenix from the ashes in 2011 with their outstanding comeback album ‘Vengeance’. ‘Brotherhood Of Metal’ contains eleven songs (a twelfth track will be included as a bonus track on the vinyl edition), recorded by exactly the same line-up that cut their 1982 cult release ‘’Wild Dogs’ - namely Feinstein, Carl Canedy (drums) and Garry Bordonaro (bass).

Turn The Light On 12/5/19

Swedish Alternative Metalcore outfit Imminence recently followed up the successful releases of their songs 'Paralyzed', 'Infectious' and 'Saturated Soul' with their fourth single 'Lighthouse' (today's Track Of The Day) off their latest third full-length record 'Turn The Light On'. The highly anticipated album embodies the diversity and vastness in Imminence’s identity of heartrending emotion. A significant milestone in the group’s discography and an exceptional composition of sheer force and fragility that fears no boundaries or constraints. Since the release of their previous album 'This Is Goodbye' in 2017, the band have strongly established themselves in the European scene as one of the most up-and-coming and exciting bands on the market today. With the success of their own headline tour and several sold out shows, they have reached a new plateau and are ready to truly distinguish themselves and their sound with this new album.

Medway Delta Iron Tonight 11/5/19

"Seager's 'Losing Streak', would you believe about drink and women, closes out the album, with it's cajun feel, its message being that you’re just looking for a peaceful life, but you find yourself up the creek without a paddle! Well, come on, this is the Blues! All in all, a delightful eclectic mix of Blues with not only great lyrics, but more importantly, an album that has the vibe of a live band with some killer tracks that will go down a storm at any gig - particularly their drinking songs! You know what they say - go on - in for a penny, in for a pound!" That was part of our take last year on Bad Pennies CD 'Songs From The Medway Delta' and the guys duly walked off with our 2018 WRC Best Reviewed CD award (pictured). So make you catch them in their home county of Kent when they play Sidcup's Iron Horse tonight.

Consisting of Stephen Cameron - bass, Rachelle Boily - vocals, Kurtis Sheldan - guitar, Rachel Ashmore - keyboards, Mitchell Williams - drums and Cameron Hartl - guitar, they are a Vancouver, Canada based sextet who meld elements of ambient Pop, Shoegaze, Post-Rock, Post-Punk, Trip-Hop and Dark Wave to create their own distinct sound. With crashing guitars and delicate sounding keyboards weaving around swooning, siren-like vocals, the band’s songs can sound at times like an otherworldly sonic experience while still being packed with emotion and moments of tenderness. A well received debut album entitled ‘Wars’ was released in the Autumn of 2017, with a follow up, ‘Masquerade’, due out late Summer.

Are You With Me 10/5/19

With a review and a Photo Gallery to come, today's Video Of The Day is of Cambridge based Hard Rock band The Brink who played London's Kolis The Lounge in Camden last night, sandwiched in between Dead Daisies' headliner Marco Mendoza and Big River. They also recently released their new single ’Are You With Me’, taken from their forthcoming debut album,  ’Nowhere To Run’ due to be released on Friday 17th May.  Influenced by classic bands of both the past and present, but with a modern edge added to the mix, The Brink bring new life and energy to the British Hard Rock scene with their vibrant 21st Century form of balls-to-the-wall Rock ’n' Roll.

Electric Wildhearts Tonight 9/5/19

"Off to the Indigo stage to catch the tail end of Ginger Wildheart's acoustic set. Ginger is a man of many acts, fronting the rocking Wildhearts but also championing a circus of assorted talents. Today sees him at his most stripped down with just an accompanying acoustic guitarist, percussionist and female co-vocalist. Watching him at ease on stage is like watching a street troubadour entertain with jokes and singalongs. His closing track 'Geordie In Wonderland' aptly describes the dreadlocked Ginger's show. Again, another excellent choice of act for this wonderful festival." That was our acoustic take on Ginger Wildheart at London's O2 Stone Free Festival in June last year and Ginger and his Wildhearts (pictured) return to London tonight to play Brixton Electric.

Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken! 9/5/19

'Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken' is today's Track Of The Day, taken from Torian's latest album 'God Of Storms', released in November last year, which could also symbolize the band's history. Perseverance and unconditional faith kept the German Power Metal band in the game since its foundation in 2002, and with a lot of passion and enthusiasm, the band have achieved a remarkable status in the underground scene over the years. Now, with their fourth studio album, the band is making a quantum leap, with the group centred around singer Mark Hohlweck, never before sounding as sophisticated, infectiously catchy and hymn-like, thus ensuring that fans of Orden Ogan, Gamma Ray, Running Wild, Hammerfall and Dream Evil will especially enjoy the treasure that is ‘God Of Storms’.

On The Brink 9/5/19

Cambridge based Hard Rock band The Brink recently released their new single ’Are You With Me’ (today's Video Of The Day), taken from their forthcoming debut album, ’Nowhere To Run’ due to be released on Friday 17th May, and tonight they play London's Kolis The Lounge sandwiched in between Dead Daisies' Marco Mendoza and Big River. Influenced by classic bands of both the past and present, but with a modern edge added to the mix, The Brink bring new life and energy to the British Hard Rock scene with their vibrant 21st Century form of balls-to-the-wall Rock ’n' Roll. Signing to Frontiers in 2017, they have toured regularly, including recent well received UK tours with The New Roses and Jizzy Pearl.

Directed by celebrated photographer Jay Blakesberg, the video captures The CRB performing live at Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh's Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA, along with footage from where Robinson resides in Marin County. 'Servants of the Sun' is the CRB's sixth full-length recording since forming in 2011. It finds the band setting aside the studio explorations of more recent work, instead coming full circle to deliver their most direct, bare bones, Rock 'n’ Roll offering since debut companion albums 'Big Moon Ritual' and 'The Magic Door.' Make sure you catch CRB's only UK date this year at Ramblin' Man Fair in Maidstone, Kent, on Sunday 21st July.

Hailing from New York, he relocated to LA in the late 70’s to start his career and eventually released ‘How Long’ as the debut album by the Michael Thompson Band in 1989. With songs written by AOR craftsmen such as Mark Spiro and Jeff Paris, it featured notable guest musicians such as Pat Torpey (Mr. Big), John Elefante (Kansas) and Bobby Kimball (Toto), and was produced by Great White associate Wyn Davis. Still regarded as one of the premiere examples of hi-tech West Coast AOR, it was reissued in 2007 by Frontiers, who also released a new record by the band in 2012 entitled ‘Future Past’ for which Thompson teamed up with singer Larry King from the band Soleil Moon. Last month, he returned with ‘Love & Beyond’ (today's Video Of The Day), which is once again produced by Wyn Davis and features three vocalists in Larry King, Mark Spiro and Larry Antonino, who also plays bass and is a member of Unruly Child, as is Guy Allison who appears on keyboards.

From catchy melodies to hard ’n’ heavy tunes, this talented young band from Switzerland released their album 'Hello Mr. Defeat' at the end of last month as a straightforward and dynamic Heavy Metal statement to the music world. Consisting of  Patric Bouffé – vocals and lyrics, Daniel Gebert – bass, Fabian Koch – drums and Steven Hohl – guitar and lyrics,  the tracks on the album diverge from substantial, and also at times raging, like in 'S.A.D' or in the reflective 'Liquidators' - today's Track Of The Day.

Four Million Days 4/5/19

"You know that occasional feeling when you hear a song for the first time and it just hits the spot? The moving ballad 'Four Million Days' does just that - opening with Matt's cello and Wille's finger picked acoustic guitar, it is a joy to be behold, also showcasing Andrew's consummate drumming plus the power of Wille's vocals, its piece de resistance being Edwards signature lap slide Gilmouresque solo, weaving in and out of its outstanding orchestral construction. Follow that." Not only was that part of our recent take on Wille & The Bandits latest CD 'Paths' but we also caught them live at London's O2 Academy Islington at the end of March (pictured). Anyway, today's Video Of The Day is the third and latest single released from their album - 'Four Million Days'.

Other Side Of The City 4/5/19

Trucker Diablo closed 2018 playing Winter Storm Festival and earned the tag of “most fun and rockin' band of the weekend!”. Quietly tinkering with the Big Truck over the winter period, and regaining control over previously label owned albums, the band dug some song ideas out of the archives, and from those sessions came the idea to celebrate 10 years of Trucker Diablo by re-releasing the first two albums in a special package, with bonus tracks and unreleased songs. Recorded late 2018 with long term producer Frankie McClay at Einstein Studios, and featuring current bassist Jim McGurk, the lead single ‘Other Side of the City’ (today's Track Of The Day) was released at the end of last month and is one of the unreleased tunes from that period and combines everything Trucker became known for since that initial debut album, big riffs, sing along choruses and that feeling we’re in it together! Consequently, the new package became the 30-song laden 'Devil Songs', the combination of 'The Devil Rhythm' and 'Songs of Iron', due to be released later this month.

Bring On The Mule! 4/5/19

Gov’t Mule celebrate 25 years being a band as they return to the Mascot Label Group/Provogue Records to release their new live album 'Bring On The Music - Live at the Capitol Theatre', on Friday 28th June, recorded during two days in April last year at the famed Port Chester, NY venue. No two Gov't Mule shows are alike, as the band draws on the more than 300 songs in their repertoire (and often a host of special guests) to create a unique experience each and every time. Warren Haynes (vocals, guitar), Matt Abts (drums), Danny Louis (keyboards, guitar and backing vocals) and Jorgen Carlsson (bass) – have galvanised a global fan base with their improvisational virtuosity, leading them to be recognised as one of the most timeless and revered bands in the world. They also kick off a UK tour at the end of this month including London's Forum on Saturday 1st June.

Unbroken Kim 3/5/19

"Following on, and now playing to a full house are Myke Gray. For those unfamiliar, the namesake guitarist was an integral part of nineties rockers Skin. His current incarnation is a vehicle for the Joe Satriani lookalike to play like a Joe Satriani soundalike. For this festival however, the instrumentalist has had the inspired idea of recruiting Kim Jennett, from Voodoo Blood, for vocals. What a powerful little powerhouse she is. With only a week or so to learn a back catalogue of Skin tracks, she - and the band - really kicked it in. Classics like 'Take Me Down To The River', 'Look But Don't Touch' and 'Shine Your Light' were belted out with the force of a West Wales weather forecast. Great band, great set, easily the find of the day." That was our take on Myke Gray at Hard Rock Hell last November (pictured) and today's Video Of The Day is 'Unbroken', the latest track taken from Kim Jennett's upcoming debut album - written and produced by Myke - and directed by Samuel Fenton.

King's Parade Borderline Review 2/5/19

"Bunched Up Letters” has a Bluesy feel; 'Haze' is pure Motown and elsewhere there are shades of Prince. The band’s playing is accomplished but understated, bringing the most out of Olly’s  voice, demonstrating that their recent residency at Ronnie Scott’s has paid off. Overall their sound is decidedly Pop, which is a testament to their production values and will no doubt bring them to a wider audience."
