Oh Danny Boy! 29/2/16

"Danny immediately endeared himself to the crowded tent by saying that he either had all of a sudden become very popular or it was the fact that that everyone wanted to get out of the rain! Well it was definitely a case of the former given Danny’s critically acclaimed album ‘Temperature Rising’ has been nominated in the British Blues Awards and it was one of those songs – ‘Guntown’ that stood out in an impressive set. Complemented by Alex Phillips on bass, Danny had to be thankful that in his guitar solo induced forays to the front of the stage – that he was in the dry and in no danger of slipping off the stage! Personally – one of my top 3 sets of the day." That was AJ's take on Danny Bryant at Ramblin' Man last July - so it was no surprise that Danny blew everyone away at Leo's Red Lion last night! Check out todays Vid Of The Day with more pics and a review to come!

Avantasia Bounce Back! 27/2/16

His giant project can't be pigeonholed: mystic, magic, rock and bombast meet with lush melodies and create spectacular, epic fireworks. German fans of the Eurovision Song Contest had the chance to nominate Avantasia and Tobias Sammet - one of the most internationally successful German musicians - in Cologne on Thursday night for the 2016 ESC final in Stockholm in May. Unfortunately, despite competing with their current single 'Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose' (today's Vid Of The Day) - Sammet and the guys did not win - but the good news is that you can see Avantasia on their 'Ghostlights' tour at The Forum in London on Tuesday 8th March!

It Came Outta The Swamp! 26/2/16

Big Boy Bloater and The LiMiTs release their new album 'Luxury Hobo' on Provogue/ Mascot Label Group today and our Vid Of The Day is the amazing 'It Came Outta The Swamp'! The band will then be hitting the road from Sunday 8th May including a show at the iconic 100 Club in London on Sunday 15th May. With a fascination for textures and subtle narratives 'LH' sees Bloater in a tougher, deeper and more expressive mode following a bout of depression in 2013 which has led it to take a lot darker and personal tone. His Tom Waits-esque gravelly vocal delivery, coupled with the distinctive and dynamic guitar style has seen him build on the Blues foundation offering insights into rockier territories, aided and abetted with his ability to weave story-telling around barbed observations. Watch out for a CD review shortly.

Blood Money Running Out! 26/2/16

Danny Bryant's 'Blood Money' tour comes to an end this Sunday at Leo's Red Lion, Gravesend, Kent.  Understandably there have been some great shows already - packed in like sardines and swinging from the rafters in Edinburgh plus Danny and Stevie Nimmo jamming in Elland. Mission Impossible - Grimsby! 25/2/16

The WRC were delighted to hear from our friends Walkway recently - and in particular lead singer Chris Reader. The guys released their brand new official music video 'Mission Impossible' at 7pm last night and hot off the press - it is of course today's Vid Of The Day. Thunder For Ramblin' Man! 22/2/16

Despite being in the 'cheap seats' rather than his usual photo pit - Rockrpix's John Bull still managed to take this superb pic of Thunder lead singer Danny Bowes at Wembley Arena last Saturday night. First up on the bill were King King who apparently did themselves proud although we understand next band Terrorvision were not everyone's cup of tea?  "Thunder were absolutely brilliant" and "Thunder were FAB" were the 'considered' views of WRC members present at the end of the gig - also buoyed by the news that they would also be playing Ramblin' Man in July!

David's In The Picture! 22/2/16

A small number of WRC members sacrificed the Thunder gig at Wembley to enjoy a few after match beers with legendary DJ David Hamilton. David - who was one of our very first members - was presented with a WRC t-shirt as we discussed football and of course music including 'Rock 'n' Roll Back The Years' (see Vid Of The Day) - a show hosted by the broadcasting legend. A fantastic nostalgia show featuring fabulous band The Fugitives and the amazing Tiffany Girls - David promised to wear his WRC t-shirt at one of his gigs. For more information on dates and venues for 'RNRBTY' please go here.

Can You Hear The Thunder? 20/2/16

"Perfectly positioned to the left of the stage they kicked off with ‘Dirty Love’ (what a great opener) and proceeded to reel off the ‘The Best Of Thunder 1989 – 1995’ which coincidentally is the name of their new CD due to be released on 17th July. Funny that  - but no complaints from us as they blasted through their short set with their usual explosive mix of Rock such as ‘Wonder Days’ and ‘Backstreet Symphony’ plus their signature ballad ‘Love Walked In’. ‘I Love You More Than Rock ‘N’ Roll’ was a classic finale but left you wanting more. And that was it." That was AJ's taken on Thunder when they supported ZZ Top at Wembley Arena last year. This time Thunder are the top dogs at Wembley tonight as they are supported by the awesome King King. Anyway, check out our High Voltage Vid Of The Day and watch out for a few WRC faces at the gig tonight!

LastMinuteBandz - Trauma UK 15/2/16

Formed originally in 1995 with then bass player Benny Szucs, Trauma UK quickly gained a local cult following with support slots for UK Subs and The Vibrators to name drop a few. A riotous performance in the Hollybush Pit saw guitarist Jim Maycock crash his Flying V into the wall causing an electrical blackout throughout Witney! Benny then left to join the Army .... and Trauma UK were no more. Fast Forward to early in 2014 and reforming with the original line up – and a noisy packed comeback gig with rising stars Twisted State of Mind, Trauma UK were back and louder than ever!!

And talking of Leo's Red Lion - all rivers lead to Gravesend for tonight's 3G event featuring former Bad Company guitarist Dave 'Bucket' Colwell, supported by both Big River and Salvation Jayne! And if you are quick - there still might be time for you to take up Big River guitarist's Damo Fawsett's offer of discounted tickets to WRC members i.e. £6 tickets or two for £10 by directly e-mailing damey74@live.co.uk

Quadrophenia Photo Gallery 13/2/16

Well the promoters of Thursday night's Quadrophenia at London’s Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, promised a fully immersed cinematic and theatrical experience - and they certainly delivered - as today's new photo gallery here testifies. As well as the film, there was fighting in the aisles, Rockers being thrown off of the Circle into the Stalls (seriously), the Q&A with Phil Daniels, Phil Davis, Toyah Wilcox and John Altman, Vespas, plus the all-important sounds of the day performed live by leading Who tribute act Who’s Who.

Capturing The Spirit Of '64! 12/2/16

All Vespas led to London’s Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, last night as British movie classic Quadrophenia became a fully immersed cinematic and theatrical experience - and a healthy number of WRC faces were there to witness it! Plunging fans into the sights and sounds of 1964 and capturing the spirit of the era - as well as the film - many of the film’s stars took part including Phil Daniels who took the central role as disaffected Mod teenager Jimmy Cooper. As well as sharing their memories in a Q&A, the all-important sounds of the day were performed live by leading Who tribute act Who’s Who (today's Vid Of The Day) plus memorabilia including original Vespas and their real life Mod owners! Watch out for more pics tomorrow!

"Rite Up My Street" 12/2/16

Yet another day - and another WRC Facebook posting! This time our thanks to Juicy Lucy frontman Steve Fish for commenting "Hi great to see your page rite up my street. Shame I didn't know about you earlier". Well - where you have been Steve? Anyway better late than never to introduce you to a powerful Rock trio, who's Rock Blues style counts the influence of Gary Moore and have toured and shared the stage with such bands as Nazareth, Bad Company, Nine Below Zero, Uriah Heep, Saxon, Wishbone Ash,, Girls School, Budgie, Man, Vampire Rock, Deborah Bonham, Maggie Bell and Stray! The guys are also gigging tonight at The Fountain, 29 Southgate, Chichester, West Sussex PO19 1ES and tomorrow at The Wheatsheaf, 22-24 Richmond Road, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 1PP. Consequently they are today's Track  Of The Day!

When Patsy Cline Was Crazy 12/2/16

Black Star Riders frontman Ricky Warwick is set to release not one but TWO new solo albums this month. 'When Patsy Cline Was Crazy (And Guy Mitchell Sang The Blues)' and the beautifully acoustic 'Hearts On Trees' will be released as a double CD on Friday 26th February via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The pictured artwork for the double albums reflects the tone of each - 'When Patsy Cline Was Crazy…' showcases the electric rock and roll side of Ricky, while Hearts On Trees veers more towards tender stripped-back songwriting, influenced by both Americana and, more importantly, Ricky's Northern Irish roots! Don't forget also that Ricky will be joining Thin Lizzy at Ramblin' Man in July!

We Are The Mods! 11/2/16

All Vespas lead to London’s Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, tonight as British movie classic Quadrophenia becomes a fully immersive cinematic and theatrical experience, plunging fans into the sights and sounds of 1964 and capturing the spirit of the era. Many of the film’s key stars will be taking part in the event, including Phil Daniels who took the central role as disaffected Mod teenager Jimmy Cooper, Toyah Wilcox, Trevor Laird, Daniel Peacock, Phil Davis, Mark Wingett and John Altman as well as the films’ director Franc Roddam who together will share their memories in a Q&A to add an extra dimension. The all-important sounds of the day will be performed live by leading Who tribute act Who’s Who, plus memorabilia including original Vespas and their real life Mod owners!

If you want a spare ticket for tonight then e-mail wrinklyrockers11@aol.com

First come, first served!

Del Bromham is of course founder member and guitarist/songwriter with the successful rock band Stray and is performing with his Blues Devils tonight at Twickenham's famous Eel Pie Club, The Patch, 67 London Road TW1 3SZ. His roots, however, originate in the Blues (he played on Eel Pie Island in its heyday)  and 10 years ago he released a solo Blues album ranging from acoustic to full electric Blues proving that he is truly a talented guitarist, singer and showman. Doors open at 8.30pm and WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted £9 admission. Please also check out our Vid Of The Day with Del performing at the recent Larry Miller Benefit Concert.

"He's Awesome" 10/2/16

When an ex-Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist tweets - you have to sit up and listen! So when Skinny Molly's Mike Estes tweeted the WRC yesterday about former Bad Company guitarist Dave 'Bucket' Colwell - "he's awesome" - we thought it was worth reminding you that Bucket is appearing this Saturday at Leo's Red Lion, Gravesend! Don't forget that as a special deal for his fellow Blues and Rock fans, our old mucker Damo Fawsett is offering discounted tickets to WRC members to this 3G event with both Damo's band Big River plus the excellent Salvation Jayne as support. Discounted £6 tickets or two for £10 can be purchased by directly e-mailing damey74@live.co.uk

*He's Not Actually Dangerous But He Is Definitely Daft 10/2/16

All fully jocked up by your daft and dangerous* host Rory Auskerry - there are also classic tracks from Iron Maiden, The Who and The Steve Miller Band plus some SuperHeavy, Joe Satriani and  Jeff Beck!

Thick Skin 10/2/16

Another day - another WRC Facebook posting! Mike Mcguire‎ contacted us to say "I'm a really big fan of Motion Device, their hard driving sound and excellent lyrics reeled me in hook, line and sinker. This is the Rock of our youth, coming to us with a fresh younger voice. Every bit as good as it was back then or today. Do your soul a favour and give them a listen! Motion Device IS the future of Rock and Roll! Well said Mike - backed up by Phil Lee who added "An excellent band, fully willing and capable of taking up the torch of rock and carrying if forward to a new generation. The most inspired I've been by a fresh band in decades!" Consequently Motion Device and their track 'Thick Skin' are our Vid Of The Day!

JB On The Rocks! 9/2/16

Mr. Rockrpix John Bull returned to the Rock On The Ridge show on Saturday night for part 2 of his amusing photographic anecdotes. Joining Bob and Jules in the Ridge Radio studio, our Track Of The Day includes tracks from a host of bands that both JB and the WRC have had the pleasure of seeing over the past year including Albany Down,  Jess & The Bandits, an exclusive track from Sari Schorr (pictured) plus also looking forward to Danny BryantRamblin' Man and of course BluesRockFest 2016!

Introducing ..... The Movers 9/2/16

Once again were indebted to another WRC Facebook posting from a bass guitarist - this time introducing us to Blues from the Cornish Delta! Anyway, our thanks to Tim Chapple from The Movers for Our Vid Of The Day. Since leaving Blacktop Deluxe last year, Tim has formed The Movers with Scott Jeffery - ex-The Blues Busters and Blues Connection on vocals who has shared the stage with Little Feat, Wilko Johnson and Larry Miller, Archie Fugill on guitar/vocals, Al Dente on drums and of course Tim on bass.

Blues Bash Appetiser! 9/2/16

Tonight's Blues On The Radio show here at 5pm focuses on the up coming Broadstairs Blues Bash topped up by the IBBA albums of the month and some live music that's imminent. Therefore you'll be likely to hear Troy Redfern, Salvation Jayne, Rebecca Downes, King Size Slim, The Grimms, Katie Bradley, Malaya Blue, Guy Tortora, Catfish, Martin McNeill, Michael Messer's Mitra, The Laura Holland Band, Fran McGillivray Band, The Rainbreakers, Mike Brookfield (pictured), Dove and Boweevil, Chris Bevington, Richard Townend, Northsyde, Jack J Hutchinson, Joel Fisk & The Breakdown, BabaJack, Jamie Williams & the Roots Collective and Dave Ferra. And here's the good news - with that lot to fit in there won't be a lot of chatting from host Richard Dunning! If you like great music there'll be no place better.

Big Boy Bloater & The LiMiTs Tour 8/2/16

Big Boy Bloater and The LiMiTs will be releasing their new album 'Luxury Hobo' on Provogue/ Mascot Label Group on Friday 26th February. The band will then be hitting the road for the 'Luxury Hobo' tour from Sunday 8th May including a show at the iconic 100 Club in London on Sunday 15th May.

Introducing .... The Welsh T Band 8/2/16

Our thanks to bassist David Hoyle of The Welsh T Band (Our Vid Of The Day) for getting in touch with the WRC! As authentic a Blues sound as you'll find this side of a Mississippi road house - the guys are another welcome addition to our 'Introducing ...' feature here. Anyway, their development has been long and slow - and in lots of ways that's their real strength - they've paid dues by the bucketful! At the centre of The Welsh T Band is out-and-out front man Terry John (a.k.a. 'Welsh T'), ace guitar strangler Kevin Ackroyd, powerhouse drummer Dan Burnett and of course David!

The New And Old Kids On The Block! 8/2/16

Today's Black On Blues Track Of The Day has a mixed bag of old and new for you. This week's playlist includes Bob Margolin, Amnesia Blues Band, Sunjay, Ian Siegal & Jimbo Mathus, Otis Taylor, Blues & Co and the Laurence Murray Project!

"We're Back On The Road!" 7/2/16

The old adage of "better late than never" is one way of the WRC apologising to Simon Burrett of The Blue Bishops who told us 'we're back on the road - join us if you can" towards the end of last year! The Bishops were originally showcased as part of our 'Introducing ....' feature here in February 2015 and any band that can recently boast  Zombies Jim and Steve Rodford amongst their ranks must be worth a look! Anyway you can check out both there up and coming gig dates here plus today's Track Of The Day!

Back With A Bang! 7/2/216

It was good to have Route 66 host Rory Auskerry back 'Rockin' & Jockin' last Sunday given he was live on air just a few hours after a 14 hour flight back from Thailand where he has been helping to look after his brother Owen who suffered a brain aneurysm on 13th January. Well he's back here tonight at 6pm including a stormer from The Treatment which is today's Vid Of The Day. Don't forget thay you can still donate here to the gofundmepage to help fund Owen's recovery and repatriation to the UK which now stands at an amazing £28.8k!

1966: The Brit Blues Boom 7/2/16

The David Sinclair Four (or to be precise - trio at that time) were memorably part of BluesFest 2014 (pictured). But did you know that, unlike the WRC editorial team, David is a also a distinguished music journalist not only writing for The Times but also contributing to Sky News such as on the recent death of David Bowie. Anyway in the latest edition of Classic Rock, Sinclair has penned an excellent article here on the 'year that built rock' which just goes to show that '66 was not all about England winning the World Cup!

Best Wishes To WTS! 5/2/16

We dedicate today's Video Of The Day to our old mucker Wrinkly The Silver who's being admitted into hospital today for back surgery. Being a big fan of both Aerosmith (pictured at the 2014 Calling Festival in Clapham) and American Football - we are sure that this £3.5 million 30 second advert due to played during the interval of this Sunday's Super Bowl will cheer Dave up. Although we advise WTS not to watch it in hospital - as when it was first aired on ITV's This Morning yesterday - the pitch of Steven Tyler's voice at the end of the ad smashed the glass in the studio's autocue! Anyway all the best mate from us all at the WRC!

The Empire Strikes Back! 4/2/16

Both New Jersey's Billy Walton Band (Vid Of The Day) and Albany Down (pictured) hit The Beaverwood Club in Chislehurst, Kent, tonight! Newly named in the 2015 British Blues Awards in the top three of the Overseas Artist category, TBWB's recent album 'Wish For What You Want' won the band new critical acclaim and memorable reviews - their sound a combination of hard, funky Blues reminiscent of Hendrix, Clapton and Vaughan. Similarly, Albany Down, who performed last year at both our BluesRockFest and our Xmas Bash, recently won a 2015 WRC Award - best guitar solo for Paul Turley. Should be a cracker!

Moose Still On The Loose! 2/2/16

As usual yesterday's February Bulletin was opened up by WRC members all over the world including the USA, New Zealand, Poland, Croatia and Brazil. We subsequently realised that we have recently neglected our Canadian correspondent 'The Moose' so it's about time we put that right! Indeed his excellent website 'Danger Canadian Content' carried an excellent review here of The White Buffalo (aka Jake Smith) who coincidentally is playing Ramblin' Man on the Outlaw Country Stage on Saturday 23rd July - and of course we will be there. And if you didn't get our bulletin then simply send us your e-mail address below and we will do the rest!
