Marcus King Band Islington Assembly Hall Photo Gallery 31/10/18

With a review to come, the fast-rising Marcus King Band played the second night of their Carolina Confessions UK headline tour in support of their new album of the very same name at the Islington Assembly Hall last Friday night. The six-piece band were fronted by the multi-talented, 22-year-old Marcus King, whose expressive guitar playing, soulful singing and emotive song-writing make it clear that this gifted young musician is a true talent to be reckoned with; a genuine force of nature. Check out today's Photo Gallery here including special guest Mollie Marriott, courtesy of Tim Russell.

Devilskin + Born Healer Play London Halloween 31/10/18

"And if you like your singalong tracks, 'Until You Bleed' is none too shabby. The set was rounded off with the superb 'Little Pills' - I am sure I will be reaching for mine to stop the pounding in my head. Although if it removes the smile from my face, I might just give them a miss. Devilskin are a class act and, for one night at least, Camden's Underworld was a little piece of Aotearoa. Can we have it back please?" That was part of our take when we saw Devilskin (pictured and Video Of The Day) last year at Camden's The Underworld in March and, appropriately for Halloween, the guys return to London tonight at the Boston Music Rooms, whilst just up the road, at The Underbelly, Hoxton, Born Healer are also on stage at 9.45pm.

Snakecharmer ULU Review 30/10/18

"This set is pretty faultless, obviously due to the experience of this collection of musicians with the Paul Rodgers/Eric Martin style vocals of Chris Ousey (Heartland), Neil Murray on bass (Whitesnake etc.), Laurie Wisefield (Wishbone Ash) guitar, Harry James (Thunder etc.) drums, Simon McBride (Own Band) and tonight, replacing usual keyboard man Adam Wakeman, we had Rob Lindrop who pulled the Jon Lord sound back to life."

Today we have the whole of  Geoff C.'s review of Snakecharmer's recent London ULU Live gig here plus check out today's Video Of The Day.

Ana Popovic May 2019 UK Tour 30/10/18

Following the release of her album 'Like It On Top' last month, guitarist and singer songwriter Ana Popovic has announced a nationwide UK Tour in May next year! Recorded in Nashville and produced by four-time Grammy winner Keb’ Mo’, the Blues influenced album features guest appearances from Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robben Ford and of course Keb’ Mo’. 'Like It On Top' focuses on empowered, successful, inspiring female role models. A trending theme in today’s world is women overcoming obstacles and breaking through the glass ceilings to reach the top. 'Like It On Top' celebrates those that take initiative, develop, inspire and motivate. But it also credits the men who are motivated and enlightened enough to support women in their quest to be their best versions of themselves.

All New Blues On The Radio 30/10/18

Red Dragon Cartel 29/10/18

After a self-imposed exile from the music industry and the public eye, heralded guitarist Jake E. Lee (Ozzy Osbourne, Badlands) returned with a fresh new band, Red Dragon Cartel in 2014. The band’s debut album included participation from a number of special guests, including Maria Brink from In This Moment, Jeremy Spencer from Five Finger Death Punch and Robin Zander from Cheap Trick, but the plan was always to create a proper new artistic vehicle for Jake to bring back his own style of music and playing that has earned him so many admirers around the globe. Jake’s comeback was greeted with much enthusiasm from the fans and media alike and the virtuoso guitarist is back once again to grace the Rock world with his unbridled skill! With an extremely talented band featuring Anthony Esposito on bass (ex-Lynch Mob), Phil Varone (ex-Saigon Kick, Skid Row) on drums and singer Darren Smith (Harem Scarem) backing him up, Jake has delivered the album fans have been eager to hear since Badlands dissolved years ago. 'Patina', the new album (see today's Track Of The Day), due to be released on Friday 9th November, is a definitive statement of Jake’s unbelievable skills. The record returns to the Bluesy, fierce Hard Rock sound of the Badlands days, updated with a monster production from Esposito and a perfect mix, courtesy of Max Norman whose relationship with Jake dates back to his days with Ozzy Osbourne.

The Nature Of The Beast 28/10/18

With so many great Metal bands fading away, Impellitteri (today's Video Of The Day) continue to carry the torch for guitar driven Heavy Metal that features powerful operatic vocals, anthemic choruses and brilliant musicianship. Chris Impellitteri’s guitar playing is majestic and his fretboard wizardry astonishing and fierce, not to mention influential. Meanwhile, Rob Rock’s vocal performances are sensational and prove that he is one of the most versatile vocalists in Metal today. The rhythm section featuring the monstrous bass playing of James Pulli and the mind boggling drumming and percussion of Jon Dette create an addictive groove. The band’s recently released album 'The Nature Of The Beast' features ten new songs and two covers (including a speed Metal version of ‘Phantom Of The Opera’), and was recorded in LA with legendary engineer/producer Mike Plotnikoff and Greg Reely.

Speed Between The Lines 27/10/18

In a landscape of identikit Thrash bands, Gama Bomb have always stood out. Unapologetically Irish, with lyrics mixing humour and social commentary and a reputation for legendary beer-soaked stage shows, they’ve never made a secret of enjoying what they do. Formed in 2002, bonding over a shared love of retro comics, movies and old Thrash Metal cassettes, Thrash Metal’s arch-geeks are now in their sixteenth year, recently releasing their sixth studio album 'Speed Between The Lines' on AFM Records. Indeed, the album’s cover (pictured) is inspired by sci-fi and horror paperback novels of the 70's and 80's, while the tracks boast a rich, rounded production that brings to mind classic late 80's Thrash!

Beth Hart At O2 Tonight 27/10/18

Beth Hart makes one hell of an entrance, as London's O2 Arena will no doubt find out at BluesFest tonight, as Zac Brown Band's special guest steps out on stage alongside The Robert Cray Band. Go back this year to May 4th and the Royal Albert Hall is in blackout. As a sell-out crowd holds its breath in the darkness, a lone figure appears from the shadows, and the opening line of 'As Long As I Have A Song' in that unmistakable voice is heard. For the next two hours, Beth held the audience spellbound, as she played over 20 songs spanning her entire career. Well the good news is that her 'Live At The Royal Albert Hall' 2CD, 3LP, DVD and Blu-Ray will be out on Friday 30th November - so check out today's Video Of The Day which gives you an awesome taster of what to expect!

Skunk Anansie 25LIVE@25 27/10/18

To celebrate 25 years of unparalleled influence, the iconic Skunk Anansie have announced the release of a new live album, '25LIVE@25', showcasing their incomparable live presence over a career-spanning collection, to be released next year on Friday 25th January via Republic Of Music. Featuring recordings of the band’s incendiary live sets over the years, and sequenced as one unique concert set by Jeremy Wheatley, a long-time collaborator with the band, '25LIVE@25' is both a celebration of Skunk’s unmatchable career and their importance as a musical and cultural force. Their exhilarating live shows are a hurricane of energy, noise and personality, an exhortation to become part of something much bigger that’s impossible to resist. Along with the announcement, the band have shared a brand new video for their 1996 hit single ‘Weak’ - today's Track Of The Day. In theme with the album, it features a collage of live footage from various stadiums, arenas, festivals and clubs they have performed at during their remarkable career, capturing the extraordinary spirit of Skunk Anansie’s live shows.

Snakecharmer To Hypnotise ULU Tonight 26/10/18

"Step forward the gem of the evening – OK it was a cover of Whitesnake’s ‘Crying In The Rain’  - but it was just under ten minutes of quality British Hard Rock at its very best – showcasing Ousey's vocal style, which is soulful and smooth before he left the stage and handed it over to McBride and Wisefield to do the honours – before they duly handed the baton over to Wakeman. Awesome. It was then back to ‘Second Skin’ with a nod to the late 70’s AOR and  ‘That Kind Of Love’ – a Snakecharmer microcosm – great vocals, harmonies, catchy chorus and riff.  James’ pounding drum on ‘Guilty As Charged’ from their first album, nearly saw the giant Murray emerge from the back of the stage, but Neil thought better of it given the tambourine wielding Ousey and both Wisefield and McBride stealing the limelight again with some great guitar work." That was part of our take when we saw Snakecharmer at Islington's O2 Academy in May last year and the guys return to London tonight at ULU Live.

King + Sinclair In London Tonight 26/10/18

The fast-rising Marcus King Band (Video Of The Day) play the second night of their Carolina Confessions UK headline tour in support of their new album of the very same name at the Islington Assembly Hall tonight. Meanwhile, The David Sinclair Four return to the Crawdaddy Club in Richmond tonight, scene of legendary gigs in the 1960's by the Stones, the Yardbirds and many others, with a show which The Morning Star described as “a Bluesy Rock masterclass.” Their new album 'Sweet Georgina' marks the latest chapter in David's stellar career as a bandleader, songwriter and music journalist, alongside lead guitarist and backing vocalist, Geoff Peel, together with the hand-in-glove rhythm section of the Mendoza brothers Jos (bass/BVs) and Rory (drums). Also joining the band as a special guest for the show will be master Blues-harmonica man Laurie Garman.

Moreover, apart from her own headline shows throughout 2019, Jo will also be special guest support for noted US artist Lamont Dozier in February, appearing at a number of prestigious venues including the Union Chapel in London. None For One 25/10/18

Flat Earth evolved after Niclas Etelavuori (bass) fell out with the manager of Amorphis and left the band. Consequently, Niclas and ex-HIM guitarist Mikko Lindstrom, started working on ideas for new songs. Getting vocalist Anttoni "Anthony" Pikkarainen on board provided additional inspiration and when their old band mate Mika Karppinen (aka Gas Lipstick, ex-HIM) finally joined on drums, the band's line-up was complete. All songs on their debut album 'None For One' due to be released on Friday 9th November (see today's Track Of the Day) point to the heydays of Alternative Rock, take a nonchalant bow to the forefathers of all things heavy with a pinch of wistful Psychedelia. Gas and Niclas robust, yet subtle rhythmic dynamic work, pave the perfect runway for Linde's guitar solos to freewheel and Anthony's maudlin yet contemplative singing, that gives the band's sound a tint of mawkish desperation that sets them apart from any other band you've heard. Magnetically melodic, playful, exhilaratingly unconstrained and thoroughly permeated by vocalist Anthony's passionately melancholic overtones, Flat Earth delivers in the same parcel both – the beauty and the beast!

Soapgirls Fest Camden Tonight 25/10/18

Fancy a night of total Rock ’n’ Roll abandon? Sassy Road warriors The SoapGirls are on tour with seven more UK shows, including their last two Camden, London, gigs of the year at Fest tonight (on stage at 9.15pm with The Fascinators, Scarlet and Mongrel Dogs) and on Tuesday 13th November at The Monarch (on stage 9.30pm). The SoapGirls latest album 'Society's Rejects' features the singles 'Johnny Rotten' (today's Video Of The Day),  'Bad Bitch' and 'Rather Be Dead', with thirteen more songs of Revolt Rock. The perfect balance of attitude, swagger and raw rasping vocals, 'Society's Rejects', is full of straight up Rock ’n' Roll songs - tons of energy, flashes of anger and serrated guitar-driven angst. Nothing can stop The SoapGirls inevitable rise to the top!

Virgin Territory 24/10/18

American New Wave Of Heavy Metal legends Virgin Steele have confirmed the release of a very special 5CD box set, ‘Seven Devils Moonshine’, containing two ‘Best Of’ CD’s and three CD’s crammed with new music alongside a 24 page booklet, plus sticker (of the album cover), on Steamhammer/SPV on Friday 23rd November. Vocalist David DeFeis, who founded Virgin Steele in 1981, elucidates: "I wish to stress the fact that what we have done here with our Box Set is include 3 brand new albums, not bundle in merely a collection of old bonus tracks we had hanging around for ages and ages… These 3 new discs contain either brand new original songs written and recorded within just these past few months, or brand new re-written covers of songs that we enjoy and felt could be re-cast in the VS style, or…new recordings of classic VS material done either in a special orchestral type setting or stripped way down and re-imagined in vastly different form. I don’t know if anyone has ever done this kind of thing before, but we felt that for us it was absolutely necessary to do this, and it makes perfect sense for where we are…at this moment."

Soak It Up 24/10/18

Up-and-coming, five-piece London Rockers At The Sun will release their rip-roaring debut album ‘Leave Before the Light’ on Friday 8th March next year. To herald this, the band have just released ‘Soak It Up’ as a single along with a video which is today's Video Of The Day. The band are five, talented, music-loving London guys, committed to mixing up heavy dirty guitars, pounding rhythms, soaring vocals and ripping solos. At The Sun was formed by rhythm guitarist Kieron Heavens and bass player Alex Matthews, who set out to bring together the finest musicians they could find to make music with lasting substance. After a long (and often frustrating!) search for the right line-up, Harry Dale (vocals), Chet Jogia (lead guitar) and Craig Steen (drums) joined  Kieron and Alex, releasing their debut 4-track EP ‘Breathe’ in 2017, gaining radio play on the likes of Ridge Radio, Planet Rock, Hard Rock Hell and Total Rock. The release of ‘Leave Before the Light’ will be followed by a headline tour, which will be the band’s biggest tour yet, although you can catch them before then, headlining London's Fiddler's Elbow in Chalk Farm on Sunday 2nd December.

Introducing ..... 3Sixty 22/10/18

Today's Video Of The Day is 3Sixty, a new, Classic-Rock style band, who released their debut album '#truestories' earlier this year, based on the songwriting partnership of vocalist Mark Grimmett and lead guitarist Nick Singleton. The band, also featuring Russell Simon (guitar), Mat Gill (bass) and Mark Simon (drums), spent most of last year recording the album in-between live shows. It was recorded not only by Dave Draper in Tower Studios, but also by Grimmett in his own studio, and  was mixed by Simon Jewel. Following a performance at the Wychwood Festival on the BBC Introducing stage they were offered a live recording and broadcasting BBC session. Presenter, Andrew Marston, described 3Sixty as “Memorable cutting edge Rock, delivered with real soul and passion.”

Hello Goodbye June 21/10/18

Not only have Goodbye June announced that their EP 'Secrets In The Sunset' comes out this Friday 26th October, but they have also revealed that they’ll playing Camden's Black Heart on Tuesday 13th November following their three nights just up the road at London's The Forum supporting longterm friends Greta Van Fleet throughout their forthcoming UK tour. In the wake of their 2017 full-length debut 'Magic Valley', the boys earned the endorsement of Rolling Stone, contributed 'Liberty Mother' to a high-profile Budweiser campaign, packed shows across the US and racked up 30 million-plus cumulative Spotify streams. An avalanche of rip-roaring Rock ‘n’ Roll, Southern-fried Blues, and Gospel Soul, the group traverse their own lane at full speed, etching out a place ahead of the pack.

How Long Ariel 21/10/18

Ariel Posen of Bros. Landreth fame will be releasing his much anticipated debut album, 'How Long', early next year, and he will also be undertaking his first major headline tour of the UK in February. Canadian Posen's long-awaited solo debut, showcases not only his chops as an instrumentalist, but his talents as a diverse songwriter, too. The record casts a wide net, moving from rootsy Blues to R&B to Melodic Rock & Roll. A co-writer and producer for artists of all genres, Posen shows the full range of his talents on these 10 tracks including today's Track Of The Day 'Fade', nodding to his influences - including The Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer and more - along the way. 'How Long' is not a guitar record, although there's certainly plenty of guitar to be heard here. Instead, it's a song record, filled with hooks, autobiographical lyrics and Posen's compelling voice.

Procol Harum London Palladium Review 20/10/18

"The first set concluded with the monumental Psychedelic Prog Rock masterpiece that is ‘In Held 'Twas in I’, their magnum opus from the 1968 album ’Shine On Brightly’, also featured on the Edmonton album. This piece is constructed of five separate parts, ‘Glimpses of Nirvana’, ‘'Twas Teatime at the Circus’, ‘In the Autumn of My Madness’, ‘Look to Your Soul’ and ‘Grand Finale’. In a nutshell the nineteen minute piece is basically about the meaning of life and the journey through it. “And the Dalai Lama smiled and said, Well my son, life is like a beanstalk, isn't it?” So there you are! Well it was written in 1968! The atmosphere in the Palladium was electric and there was much love in the room. The standing ovation was much deserved."

Today we have the whole of  Steven C. Gilbert's review of Procol Harum's recent London Palladium gig here plus check out today's Video Of The Day.

Frontiers Rockingham This Weekend 20/10/18

Creye, who released their eponymous debut album last Friday, was put together by Grand Design guitarist Andreas Gullstrand in 2015. His vision was to start a new Swedish Pop/Rock sensation that would take listeners on a journey back to the glory days of the 80's, settling on what can be described as a slick Melodic Rock sound with a retro touch. Having debuted in 2016 with the well received single ‘Never Too Late’, a three song EP ‘Straight To The Top’ was released the following Spring that showcased a mature and evolved sound that serves as the blueprint for their self-titled first album. While Creye’s music is clearly influenced by the sound of the 80’s, Andreas is no stranger to more modern production techniques. Anyone into bands such as Work of Art, Art Nation, One Desire and early H.E.A.T will appreciate Creye and they are more than ready to live up to the hype generated by their initial single releases. Creye (today's Track Of The Day) play Nottingham's Rockingham Festival this Sunday alongside Frontiers stablemates Find Me, Pretty Maids and Warrant, with Bigfoot, Ammunition, Tokyo Motor Fist and Nelson also appearing today.

My Merry Machine Ignite 20/10/18

My Merry Machine are Rock 'n' Roll riffs and melodies between modern and alternative Metal – honest - emotional - straight in your face! The eleven songs on their new album 'Ignition', released at the beginning of this month, turn out to be varied and surprisingly mature compositions, full of power, soul and atmosphere, all the way to melancholic, covering all facets of a modern Metal band. Drummer Tim, guitarist Markus and singer Kirsten (all founding members of the Bloodflowerz) have been creatively connected again for a good year, together with bass player Georg, creating My Merry Machine: a vision, a sound and just a new and extraordinary band. Shaped, matured and grown together, the four have extensive live experience at home and abroad with numerous well-known bands on tour and on festival stages such as Mera Luna, Summerbreeze, WGT, Taubertal and Rock am Ring.

Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Review 19/10/18

"Despite still feeling "damn hot" Hughes "Could still feel the love in the room" as Bo Hansen's awesome keyboard solo including a snippet of Mikis Theodorakis 'Zorba The Greek' plus inevitable shouts of "Oi" saw Glenn demand "Let's take this home" before the hand-clapping led us to the brilliant 'You Fool No One' which included a guitar solo, Blues outro, the first bars to 'High Ball Shooter' and a drum solo from Escobedo! Hughes's sermon from the heart that "Rock music is not dead' was well appreciated by his troops, particularly as he added that he intends in future to concentrate more on gigs than album work. Although just to ram the message well and truly home, Anderson's meandering intro eventually resulted in perhaps the most famous Rock riff of all time, that took us to that Lake Geneva shoreline and the classic 'Smoke On The Water'."

Today we have AJ's take on Monday's Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple gig here at Camden's Electric Ballroom in London plus our Photo Gallery here.

Livin' Thing 18/10/18

Jeff Lynne's ELO triumphantly returned to London's O2 Arena last night after a two and half year absence. With a set containing most of the ELO classics including 'Livin' Thing', '10538 Overture', 'Roll Over Beethoven' and of course 'Mr. Blue Sky', Jeff also threw in for good measure 'Do Ya' (Video Of The Day) and 'Handle With Care' respectively from his time with The Move and The Travelling Wilburys. With excellent support also from Billy Lockett, Lynne plays two further dates at The O2 today and Saturday before completing his UK tour at Liverpool's Echo Arena next Tuesday. Do not miss him!

Wishbone/Rabin Academy Tonight 18/10/18

"Their trademark duelling guitar harmonies on 'Eyes Wide Open' belied the fact that this rocking instrumental featuring Powell on his V guitar was taken from an even later album - Clan Destiny in 2006 - real testament to Ash's historical musical influences on bands such as  Thin Lizzy, as was the even more recent 'Way Down South' showcasing both Abrahams and Skeat solos on this tune with its Dire Straits feel from 2014's 'Blue Horizon'. Time now for the big hitters as Powell introduced the "A" word, namely the aforementioned 'Argus'. Spontaneous hand clapping complemented Powell's opening guitar on 'The King Will Come', with Abrahams wah guitar solo getting deserved applause before Skeats bass lead into its duelling guitar/vocals finale, before the smiling James Whale lookalike Powell and Abrahams both launched into guitar solos on another 'Argus' classic 'Warrior'." That was part of our take on Wishbone Ash last October at London's O2 Academy Islington, and almost exactly a year ago to the day they return to the same venue tonight supported by the superb Felix Rabin (pictured).

Primal Fear Dome Review 16/10/18

"Following the leads from the charismatic Ralf, the crowd were soon joining the chorus lines and rocking with the band.  New songs out of the way, the band focused on crowd favourites. ‘Nuclear Fire’ saw Ralf controlling his guitarists like a snake charmer and, by the time ‘Metal is Forever’ was in full swing the atmosphere was electric - including the first proper, heaving, bouncing mosh pit I've seen for a couple of decades. Though, back in the day, I never heard a plea to the moshers from the stage along the lines of “Great to see you enjoying yourselves - but please be careful not to bang into the people around you”!"

Today we have Big IaN's take on last Thursday's Primal Fear/Riot V gig here at Tufnell Parks' Dome in London.

Everything Is Fine 14/10/18

A key figure in the US ‘Murder Folk’ scene that also includes contemporaries such as The Devil Makes Three and The Dead South, the music of singer-songwriter Amigo The Devil is a unique blend of Folk that also incorporates elements of Southern Gothic, Country and Bluegrass. Initially influenced by the likes of Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, the artist born as Danny Kiranos has a recognised sound that carries traces of US artists such as Americana string band Old Crow Medicine Show and singer-songwriters William Elliott Whitmore and David Eugene Edwards (16 Horsepower), allied with direct, often morbid lyrics shot through with a dark sense of humour. A first taste from his new album ‘Everything Is Fine’, due to be released this coming Friday, is the confessional ballad ‘Cocaine And Abel’ (today's Track Of The Day). Kiranos has also amassed a sizeable following in the UK and will tour for the first time as Amigo The Devil in December kicking off at London's The Borderline on Friday 7th.

Meshiaak European Tour 14/10/18

Meshiaak will be undertaking their very first UK/European tour in March next year supporting Overkill, along with Flotsam & Jetsam and Destruction. Formed in Melbourne, Australia, by 4ARM’s Danny Camilleri, Teramaze’s Dean Wells and bassist Nick Walker, they are now joined by drummer David Godfrey. The four of them combine formidable elements of Progressive Metal and Thrash, which is perfectly highlighted on their debut album ‘Alliance of Thieves’, which was released in the Summer of 2016 on Mascot Records. Meshiaak have proved they have the songs (see today's Video Of The Day), now it’s time for the people of Europe to experience the full force of ‘Alliance of Thieves’ which includes London's O2 Academy Islington on Thursday 21st March.

What I Need 13/10/18

No stranger to the music industry, Ruen is the artistic project of Rhiannon Mair who has spent her working life as a producer songwriter for some of the UK’s strongest new Indie talent. Working with the likes of Laura Marling, Bryde, Emma McGrath, DIDI and Kimberly Anne, has cemented her as a tour de force of production and engineering in the UK. Now focusing on her own project, Ruen is now launching her second single 'What I Need' (today's Track Of The Day) following on from 'Bad Behaviour', which was an emphatic and emotive statement of intent, for a gritty and immensely talented musician. 'What I Need' is a similarly sultry, Indie-Rock anthem with an excess of attitude. Lyrically, the track explores lust and passion with an irresistible, raw production that’s bound to appeal to your devilish side!

I'm Only Into Metal 13/10/18

Onkel Tom, Sodom vocalist/bassist Tom Angelripper’s solo project, renowned for songs celebrating boozy good times, beer and schnapps as a staple diet, recently released their new album ‘Bier Ernst’, at the end of last month on Steamhammer/SPV. Along with Metal versions of the popular drinking and party ditties that Onkel Tom and his band are renowned for, Angelripper and his four comrades-in-arms, namely drummer Cornelius Rambadt, guitarists Marcel Mönnig and Klaus Nicodem, and bassist Marc Beste - have recorded a dozen original numbers celebrating life, having a good time and sophisticated drinking! So check out today's Video Of The Day - their first single ‘Ich finde nur Metal geil’ (I’m only into metal).

Marcello Underworld Tonight 12/10/18

Swedish guitarist and vocalist Kee Marcello plays the second night of his 6-date UK tour at London's The Underworld in Camden tonight. Marcello is best known for his years with multi-platinum selling band Europe, whose mega-hit 'The Final Countdown' went to number 1 in 25 countries. These dates form part of Marcello’'s 'Scaling Up' tour, which supports his latest album of the same name, and marks his return to the Melodic Hard Rock genre. Fans of Europe will be familiar with Le Baron Boys, a pseudonym Europe used during a now legendary time when the band were working on follow up material to their hit album 'Out Of This World' and Kee will perform material from this era on the tour, some of which also features on his latest album. This is a must-see tour for fans of Europe and Melodic Hard Rock!

Tom's On Fire 12/10/18

"Here’s my story - how I left the corporate world at 57 to play music full time - not the soundest financial decision I’ve ever made - but I’m rocking hard at 67!" That was a recent Tweet we received from our latest WRC member Tom 'The Suit' Forst (pictured), and on today's Video Of The Day, filmed at the Factory Underground Studio in Norwalk, Connecticut, Tom discusses his new album 'On Fire' as a feature story on News 12 Connecticut produced  by director Chris Palermo. The former Cox Communications Regional VP turned sexagenarian rocker is now showing the world it's never too late to follow a dream at any age, and what success can happen just following your heart. Welcome aboard Tom - and if you want to become a WRC member for free, just like Tom, just go here.

Steve Hackett Royal Festival Hall Review 11/10/18

"Hackett then sat down with his acoustic guitar - cue the defining moment of the evening and the final song. Indeed if any track totally defined 70's Prog then I defy you to find anything more poignant that 'Supper's Ready' from their album 'Foxtrot'. It really has everything. The combination of Hackett, Sylvan, Reingold (guitar) Townsend (flute), O'Toole, King and Thacuk's orchestra, in the early construction of this masterpiece, was truly breathtaking. The audience of course then chipped in in unison shouting "A Flower", before it was "All Change" as they all took us to that promised land with THAT mesmerising keys solo from the exceptional King before Hackett and Sylvan left us with tears of joy with THAT outro!  It was indeed the mighty one. Well worth dining out on. 26 minutes of perfection."

Today we have AJ's take on last Thursday's Steve Hackett Genesis Revisited gig here - plus check out today's Video Of The Day of 'Blood On The Rooftops' taken at the Manchester leg of his current tour. In fact we are going back for more at The London Palladium tonight and amazingly we understand that there are still a few tickets left!

Primal Fear At The Dome Tonight 11/10/18

Released back in August, ‘Apocalypse’ is the twelfth studio album by Primal Fear and another milestone release by one of the most loved and respected Heavy Metal bands in the world who are playing the Tufnell Park Dome in London tonight. Their previous two records, ‘Delivering The Black’ and ‘Rulebreaker’, saw them scale the charts in several territories and receive higher critical praise than ever, recognition that they have continued to raise the bar in terms of quality and musicianship, constantly pushing themselves to find new ways to better their previous output. ‘Apocalypse’ was recorded at Hansen Studios in Denmark with band co-founder and bassist Mat Sinner producing and engineering/mixing by Jacob Hansen. All three guitarists - Magnus Karlsson, Tom Naumann and Alex Beyrodt - shine thanks to Hansen’s mixing skills, while Ralf Scheepers again displays why he is one of the most outstanding Metal vocalist heroes of our time.

Invincible Bubble 11/10/18

John Medeski's Mad Skillet release their self-titled debut album via Medeski Martin & Wood's record label, Indirecto Records on Friday 9th November. Led by the hugely influential keyboardist and featuring guitarist Will Bernard and the legendary Dirty Dozen Brass Band rhythm section of sousaphonist Kirk Joseph and drummer Terence Higgins, Mad Skillet is first and foremost a product of New Orleans. The band's inception can be traced back to the late-night sets that go down every year during New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Check out today's Track Of The Day 'Invincible Bubble' - Medeski's cathartic, open-hearted tribute to his step-daughter. In November the band embark on a 13-date U.S. tour surrounding the release, beginning with a festival appearance at Utopiafest in Burnet, Texas, and including shows throughout the Midwest and Northeast.

Hogjaw Academy Tonight 10/10/18

To support both the release of their latest album 'Way Down Yonder' plus last month's re-issue of 2015's 'Rise To The Mountains', Hogjaw are currently on a UK tour, bringing their own brand of Southern pride and joy to cities the length and breadth of the land. And, accordingly, the rambunctious Southern Rockers stop off at London's O2 Academy Islington tonight. Hogjaw hail from Arizona and describe themselves as "Four fingers folded into a fist!": JB Jones (vocals and guitar), Jimmy Rose (lead guitar), Elvis DD (bass) & Kwall (drums). “Hard-hitting Southern fried electric Rock” is how they define their sound, although their influences are drawn from a deeper well: imagine Free, early Rainbow and Whitesnake, marinaded in Blackfoot and The Allman Brothers, then steeped in moonshine. Solid Southern Blues-Rock. Oh, and beards!

Introducing ... Sons Of Liberty 10/10/18

The UK’s own Southern Rockers Sons of Liberty released ‘Aged in Oak’ (listen to today's Track Of The Day) at the end of last month on all major digital platforms - a  six track EP of Hard Rocking original Southernality. Following hard on the heels of the band’s highly acclaimed debut independent release ‘Shinola’, 'Aged in Oak' sees the band at their best, refining their song craft and finding their place as unique and authentic artists, built on years of experience playing Southern Rock out on the live circuit. Like 'Shinola' the EP was recorded at Vale Studios and Engineered by the incredible Chris D’Adda. The band were also very grateful to Toby Jepson (Lightning In A Bottle) for his invaluable advice, guidance and encouragement ahead of recording 'Aged In Oak'.

KrashKarma Stranded 10/10/18

The duo that has been labeled as “The White Stripes Of Metal” are conquering the scene of heavy music worldwide. With over 600 international shows and their third full-length album 'Morph' released last month, KrashKarma from Los Angeles is steadily rising through the ranks establishing themselves as one of the hottest touring acts. Niki Skistimas (vocals, drums) and Ralf Dietel (vocals, guitars) are drawing their intensive energy from generations of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative and Punk music. The commanding sound that is driven by Ralf’s unique Frankenstein guitar/bass creation and his urgent shouts combined with Niki’s soothing but sinful voice and pounding rhythm, deliver a fresh urgency that doesn’t seem to fit into any pre-existing genres. No two-piece band has ever sounded so huge. The broad spectrum of media coverage and the consistently euphoric reviews underline that KrashKarma not only have infiltrated the scene of heavy music but continue to morph into a monster that cannot be stopped! Just check out 'Stranded' - the first video taken from 'Morph' which is today's Video Of The Day.

Dan Reed Network CD Review 9/10/18

"The second re-imagined track is ‘Forgot to Make Her Mine’ recorded at the Power Station NYC.  A nice rocky riff has made this a DRN classic and fan favourite at live shows.  The bass Funk slaps away to remind us this is DRN at their best. ‘Shameless’ is a song about love and friendships that endure forever, regardless of what others perceive or judge.  I often judge a track by the effect it has on my emotions rather than just on the musically content and this is a track that evokes more meaning than just the solid melodies.  If I still had a tape player, maybe this one would be on my next mix tape!"

Today read Chris Bourlet's complete take here on Dan Reed Network's new 'Origins' CD, which is due to be released on Friday 23rd November, of which the first single 'Fade To Light' is today's Video Of The Day.

Southbound & Corky 100 Club Bound Tonight 9/10/18

Southbound fought of the awesome international competition of both SIMO and The Brothers Landreth in 2015 to win our coveted 'One's To Watch' WRC award - thanks to stand-out gigs at Leos Red Lion, Gravesend, The Half Moon, Putney and The Horn, St. Albans (pictured). And tonight you can catch the guys at London's iconic 100 Club, supporting Corky Laing, who we also saw that year at the same venue.

Rainbreakers At TNMC Tonite! 9/10/18

Today's Blues On The Radio Track Of The Day features music from RHR Redfern, Hutchinson (pictured) & Ross, Guy Tortora, Billy F. Gibbons, Dean James and The Black Dogs, Sari Schorr, Fiona Boyes, David Julia, Sean Chambers, Dr Bob and the Bluesmakers, Jim Dan Dee, The Liam Ward Band and (ahead of their show tonight at The Tuesday Night Music Club, The Comrades Club, Coulsdon CR5 2NF) two tracks from Rainbreakers

Those Federal Flowers Borderline Review 8/10/18

"It seems to be an unwritten rule that bands with just three members always make the most noise and Tom, Dale and birthday boy Karl are certainly no exception. Relying heavily on the latest ‘Starting Gun’ album (ten out of the eleven tracks are brought out to play here), it’s a blisteringly powerful hour with just three older songs to keep the die-hard fans happy."

Today we have Phil C.'s take on last Sunday's Those Damn Crows, Federal Charm and The Bad Flowers London Borderline gig here - plus check out some more Bad Flowers photos from the night courtesy of Robert Sutton here, our Those Damn Crows Video Of The Day and our Federal Charm interview here.

We're All Doomed! 8/10/18

Fan-chosen favourites Monolord and Fireball Ministry will headline HRH Doom Vs HRH Stoner (Europe’s flagship celebration of Doom and Stoner Rock), which will hit the O2 Academy in Sheffield on the weekend of 28th and 29th September 2019. One further headliner will be announced on Monday 5th November! HRH DVS IV is an HRH city experience: a thunderous battle of very, very loud Metal tribes, who’ll champion their passionate camps at the UK’s number one celebration of these loud, dark, powerful genres. The two headliners blaze the trail for a portentous line-up of Doom & Stoner talent over the two-day event. Also confirmed are: Black Rainbows, Church of the Cosmic Skull, Black Moth, Dead Witches, Space Witch, Ten Ton Slug, Master Charger, Oak, Witch Tripper, Poseidon, The Red Widows, Mage, Red Spektor, Deadsmoke, Green Lung, Black Forge, Cower, Hounds!, Psychlona, Flex Bison and Superseed.

Today's Black On Blues Podcast Track Of The Day not only celebrates their 400th edition but also remembers Otis Rush who sadly died recently. This week's  playlist features Maria Muldaur, Ally Venable, Kendel Calgary, Sari Schorr (pictured), Martha Fields, Lindsay Beaver and Lawrence Lebo.

Tommy Vext Back 7/10/18

Lead singer of Bad Wolves, Tommy Vext, was taken ill and hospitalised in Nottingham after playing Nottingham Rock City on the second night of their European tour with Three Days Grace. Calling on his Eleven Seven Label Group family, Vext reached out to As Lions front man Austin Dickinson, and power vocalist Stars of Bang Bang Romeo (both pictured) to have them fill in for him as he recovered in hospital. The good news was that Tommy returned to the fold in Bristol on Friday night and will no doubt be raring to go at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire tonight. Bad Wolves are touring hits from their debut #1 UK Rock and Metal chart album 'Disobeyalbum' including the US platinum hit 'Zombie' which has been #1 on iTunes Metal UK album charts for 8 months and their current hit 'Hear Me Now' featuring Diamante.

Desert Of Talking Shadows 7/10/18

Back in June last year we featured Mikey Qubti's House Of None as our Track Of The Day. Lead vocalist and guitarist Mikey has since been in touch with us about his new project - Desert Of Talking Shadows (Video Of The Day) - a Rock N’ Roll band from Orange County, California. As well as Mikey, DOTS features Kyle Vellanoweth on guitar, Jack Thomas on bass and Detrick Forster on drums. They’re a new young band not to be missed that brings attitude, truth, and storytelling back to Rock music as well as their explosive  live shows.

Victim Of The New Disease 7/10/18

Clinging to airtight songcraft, knifepoint precise Metallic instrumentation, and stadium-size Hard Rock hooks, All That Remains are cutting right to the chase on their ninth full-length album, 'Victim Of The New Disease', due to be released on Friday 9th November via Fearless Records. The quintet - Philip Labonte (lead vocals), Oli Herbert (lead guitar), Mike Martin (rhythm guitar), Jason Costa (drums) and Aaron Patrick (bass, backing vocals) - has shared the punishing and patently pummeling new track ‘Fuck Love’, which is today's Track Of The Day. The band will also embark on a European tour in December with Sevendust, where they will play dates across the UK, including London’s Electric Brixton on Sunday 2nd December.

3000 Days Plus Many More 6/10/18

Progdate: Saturday 2nd August 2003. Deputising for the the missing Oxygen8 and supporting headliners Caravan - we had just witnessed The Pineapple Thief's first ever gig at The Whitchurch Prog Rock Musical Festival. It was a cracking set - so much so that we headed straight over to their merchandise stall and bought a signed version of 'Variations On A Dream/8 Days'. Now turn the clock forward 15 years or so plus twelve quality studio albums later and the Testbourne School Theatre gig is all but a distant memory as TPT headline The Shepherd's Bush Empire tonight supported by LiZard.

Time To Shake A Leg 6/10/18

"Given their courageous experimentation of different times, places and moods - the consequent complementary shift of pace, tempo and feel on the majority of the songs on this album, all pulling from that well tried and tested Bad Touch foot tapping and Bluesy pump – means it’s definitely time to ‘Shake A Leg’." That was part of our review of Bad Touch's new album 'Shake A Leg' here that was finally released yesterday, and to coincide with its release, a new music video of the track 'Lift Your Head Up' is now available, which is today's Video Of The Day. Their headline tour with special guests Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics and Daxx & Roxanne begins on Wednesday 17th October including London's ULU Live on Saturday 10th November.

Four Sticks - Day 2 6/10/18

Today is the second day of the three day Four Sticks: Classic Rock Weekender at London's New Cross Inn. Headlining tonight are Praying Mantis who released their eleventh studio album  ‘Gravity’ in May. The CD saw the band return with another inspired, take-no-prisoners line-up, with John Cuijpers (vocals) and Hans in’t Zandt (drums) again contributing to the songwriting process. Also playing before Praying Mantis are Frontiers stablemates Bigfoot (today's Track Of The Day), who recently announced Sean Seabrook as their new lead vocalist. The Wigan based Hard Rock band's self-titled debut album was released in October 2017 and was voted the no. 11 Album of the Year in the Planet Rock magazine readers poll as well as receiving critical praise.

Kris Barras Band + Matt Edwards Review 5/10/18

"Small Town Blues’ and ‘Nothing To Hide’ took us back to the ‘Lucky 13’ album, before the less familiar (and possibly new?) ‘I Don’t Want The Blues’ set up another trilogy from ‘The Divine And Dirty’. ‘She’s More Than Enough’ and ‘Lovers Or Losers’ sandwiched what was for many of us the highlight of the night: the extended guitar solo on Kris’ heartfelt tribute to his late father, ‘Watching Over Me’."

Today we have another Gary Smith review here - this time The Kris Barras Band's recent 100 Club gig in London supported by Matt Edwards - plus check out our Photo Gallery courtesy of Tim Russell here.

Selling England By The Pound 5/10/18

With a review of last night's Steve Hackett Genesis Revisited Tour with his band and 41-piece orchestra at London's Royal Festival Hall to come, Steve also releases today a special 6XCD 2DVD Collection 'Broken Skies - Outspread Wings (1984 - 2006)' which includes today's Video OF The Day. Not only that, but Hackett has also announced that his band will perform 20 shows around the UK in November next year. For the first time ever, Steve will perform the seminal Genesis album 'Selling England By The Pound' in its entirety. Released in 1973, the album went to No. 3 in the UK charts and has been described as ‘the definitive Genesis album.’ It includes firm favourites such as 'Dancing with the Moonlit Knight', 'Firth of Fifth', 'Cinema Show' and, of course, 'I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)'. Other favourite classic Genesis tracks will also feature in the show. 2019 also marks the 40th anniversary of one of Steve’'s most popular solo albums 'Spectral Mornings' and he will rightly celebrate this milestone by performing masterpieces from the album. Fans will also be treated to highlights from Steve’'s new album, to be released in 2019.

Devon Allman Project + Duane Betts Review 4/10/18

"Then Duane rejoined the fun surprisingly early (Stokes would also alternate with Stachela during the rest of the gig) for the ABB’s ‘Blue Sky’, before matters took an unexpected twist or two. Devon switched to acoustic as seats were brought on stage for all the six-stringers and we were treated to the Grateful Dead’s ‘Friend Of The Devil’ and Gregg Allman’s ‘Multi-Colored Lady’."

It's been well worth waiting for, so today read the whole of Gary Smith's Devon Allman + Duanne Betts Islington Assembly Hall review from exactly one month ago here plus check out our Photo Gallery courtesy of Tim Russell here.

Federal Charm Interview 4/10/18

With a review of Sunday night's The Bad Flowers, Federal Charm and Those Damn Crows Borderline gig to come, today, as promised, we have our interview here with Federal Charm which is also today's Track Of The Day. We met guitarist Paul Bowe and drummer Josh Zahler in advance of their set, and the guys made us feel most welcome. So have a listen to some great banter as we discuss their tour, the release of their latest album 'Passenger' plus how they have got heavier and hairier since the very first time we saw them supporting Joanne Shaw Taylor at London's Jazz Cafe way back in 2015.

Stand Up Gentleman It's Adequate 4/10/18

It was good to hear from Hats Off Gentleman It's Adequate frontman Malcolm Galloway who we recently saw at a Prog Night they promoted at Camden's Fiddler's Elbow in London (pictured) alongside IT and The Wood Demons. The band have just released the video for their first single 'Stand Up' which is today's Video Of The Day, which is taken from their next album 'Out Of Mind'. With their own brand of defiant Progressive Rock from London, 'Stand Up' is one of the Rockier songs on the album with the video being produced by Malcolm and Mark Gatland.

Dan's Wild Life 3/10/18

Exceptional UK singer-songwriter and Grammy-nominated producer Dan Lancaster has unveiled his brand new track ‘Wild Life’, via Raw Kingdom/AWAL, which will form part of an exciting EP due later this year. ‘Wild Life’ sees Lancaster move into stratospheric Pop terrority, and yet again displays his extraordinary vocals and follows in the footsteps of the success of his debut single 'Move A Mountain'. He has also written, produced and mixed 8 Radio 1 A-Listed records in the last two years, working with Blink 182, Good Charlotte, 5 Seconds Of Summer and Bring Me The Horizon, as well as Fickle Friends, One OK Rock, Don Broco and Lower Than Atlantis. In 2017 Lancaster built and has subsequently worked in his own customised music studio in London. He has scored multiple Platinum and Gold albums and had Number 1 albums in the UK, USA, Japan, Canada and Australia, as well as being involved in records with over 800 million Spotify streams. Tuesday 16th October sees Dan perform his debut show at London’s Oslo, Hackney, translating his exceptional talent on record to the live arena.

The Brew's Art Of Persuasion 3/10/18

Consistency is often the foundation of a healthy career when it comes to BritRock. The Brew have been around for over 10 years with zero line-up changes and have churned out six, fine and varied studio albums as a result. The trio hailing from Grimsby, Northern England also have a reputation as an excellent live act that is capable of turning every European club into a sweat-drenched Rock hellhole. 'Art Of Persuasion', due to be released this coming Friday, proudly displays the band’s influences – everything from Led Zeppelin to Wolfmother. Yet, the record easily avoids schlocky retro clichés. That said, while fuzzy, killer tunes such as 'Gin Soaked Loving Queen' and 'Excess' may have been raised on that sweet 70's spirit, The Brew (Video Of The Day) rightfully consider themselves modern rockers with classic roots. High-energy, timeless, and brimming with unforgettable hooks, Jason Barwick: vocals and guitar, Tim Smith: bass and vocals and Kurtis Smith: drums are also touring mainland Europe in October/November supported by The Hydden.

Fight The Fury 3/10/18

Fight The Fury, the newly announced and eagerly awaited Metal project from Skillet frontman and bassist John Cooper, will be releasing their debut EP 'Still Breathing' on Friday 26th October via Atlantic Records. To herald the release, the band has shared the new song 'My Demons' - today's Track Of The Day. The band also features Skillet guitarist Seth Morrison, along with drummer Jared Ward and guitarist John Panzer III. While the Grammy-nominated Skillet have proven to be one of the most successful Rock bands of the 21st century, having sold more than 12 million units worldwide, Cooper wanted to flex his creative muscles outside of his main outfit with Fight The Fury. The music crackles with a Metallic, anthemic, and riff-driven intensity, along with unforgettable hooks. The songs that populate 'Still Breathing' will take up residence in your brain for days at a time. Fight The Fury will also embark on their first-ever tour in Russia this December and details regarding future North American tour plans will be announced in the coming weeks.

DS4 Gig At Crawdaddy 2/10/18

Where can you go to capture the original spirit of a great Friday-night Rock & Roll gig? The David Sinclair Four (Video Of The Day) will be returning to the Crawdaddy Club in Richmond on 26th October, scene of legendary gigs in the 1960's by the Stones, the Yardbirds and many others, with a show which The Morning Star described as “a Bluesy Rock masterclass.” “The Crawdaddy is where London Rock & Roll began,” says David, whose new album 'Sweet Georgina' marks the latest chapter in a stellar career as a bandleader, songwriter and music journalist. “We can’t wait to go back there and kick out the jams.” Alongside him in the DS4 is lead guitarist and backing vocalist, Geoff Peel, together with the hand-in-glove rhythm section of the Mendoza brothers Jos (bass/BVs) and Rory (drums). Joining the band as a special guest for the Crawdaddy show will be master Blues-harmonica man Laurie Garman. The DS4 at the Crawdaddy – where Rock & Roll history lives on.

Those Damn Federal Flowers 1/10/18

Those Damn Crows, fresh from supporting The Quireboys, when we saw them at The Forum just over two weeks ago, once again proved that 'Rock N Roll Ain't Dead' with another blistering opening set at London's The Borderline last night. Followed by co-headliners and Stockport's very own Federal Charm (who we managed to interview before the gig), who finished off their tour on a high, dipping in to some great tracks from their recently released album 'Passenger' including their single 'Choke', 'Get Through', 'Death Rattle' and 'Concrete Creature'. Finally, a great night of live music was complete with The Bad Flowers (pictured), a great bunch, who we also last saw at the O2 Arena StoneFree Festival in June, with drummer and birthday boy Karl Selickis doing a fine job of keeping frontman/guitarist Tom Leighton and bass guitarist Dale Tonks in their rhythmic place. With tracks like 'Thunder Child' in their repertoire, they showed they are a force to be reckoned with. Anyway, with that interview to come, plus a review and our photo gallery - check out today's Video Of The Day.
