ULU Jon Roth Live Tonight 30/11/18

Uli Jon Roth is one of the last greats who is still around to present his magical style of playing which he already forged in the late Sixties when he was still in his teens. Uli played his first ever show in December 1968 - at the age of 13 - and to celebrate his upcoming 50th Stage Anniversary, he plays the second of his six very special UK concerts at London's ULU Live tonight. The former Scorpions guitarist, widely regarded as one of the greatest guitar players ever, is also joined by British newcomer Kaleb McKane as his special guest, who recently released his first EP 'Universe in Reverse', and in 2019 will release his debut album. Meanwhile, also in London's Camden tonight, Smoking Martha play The Black Heart, whilst just up the road, The David Sinclair Four play The Dublin Castle.

The Music Of Cream Review 29/11/18

"Probably the best story of the night was Kofi's revelation that Lewisham's finest wrote 'Pressed Rat and Warthog' whilst on acid. Anyway Kofi's thusly spoken vocals did Ginger proud, not only complemented by Will's neat bit of wah pedal and Mal's bass solo, but also the projection of some sentimental Baker family photos plus one of the loveable, but manic, gap-toothed Ginger with three fags sticking out of his gob. Very funny. To round off a mesmerising first set, the guys extended the Cream family even further to Mal's daughter Maya on vocals, who dispatched 'SWLABR' (She Walks Like A Bearded Rainbow) with natural verve."

Jawbone CD Review 28/11/18

"Despite not being among the band’s listed influences, I can hear a little of Steely Dan in ‘Family Man’, while the horns added on ‘Bet On Yesterday’ give it the feel of one of the better tunes from a spaghetti western. Humour is back in evidence on ‘Rolling On The Underground’, an older composition which Milner and Bonfanti revisited for this album; in it they tried to drop in the names of as many London tube stations as possible (readers of a certain vintage may recall a classic Two Ronnies sketch which did the same)!"

Today read Gary Smith's complete take here on Jawbone''s latest CD plus check out today's Video Of The Day.

Ben Poole At Beaverwood Tonight 28/11/18

International Blues/Rock/Soul guitarist, singer and songwriter Ben Poole's UK Tour continues at The Beaverwood Club in Chislehurst, Kent, tonight. The tour follows the release of Ben’s new studio album 'Anytime You Need Me', released in mid-September via Manhaton Records. The new album follows Ben’s critically acclaimed albums 'Time Has Come' (2016) and 'Live At The Royal Albert Hall' (recorded by the BBC in 2014). 'Anytime You Need Me' was recorded at Superfly Studios in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, and was produced by Wayne Proctor, who will be Ben’s drummer during the tour, with Beau Barnard on bass and Joe Mac on keyboards.

Valley Queen's Supergiant 28/11/18

Valley Queen (Track Of The Day) will see their highly anticipated debut album, 'Supergiant' released in early 2019. Valley Queen formed in 2011 and after a series of singles, released their first EP in 2017 to widespread critical acclaim and toured so much to support it that two members quit citing exhaustion. Forging ahead with session players in tow, frontwoman Natalie Carol and bassist Neil Wogensen continued but when it came time to record what was to become 'Supergiant', the chemistry required simply wasn’t there. The blood sweat and tears that solidified the band in those formative years needed to be captured on record and after some soul searching, original guitarist Shawn Morones was back in the fold. New drummer Mike DeLuccia cemented the line up and the band hit the studio almost immediately. With their feet firmly planted in the Country and Southern Rock that Natalie has ingrained in her DNA from growing up in Arkansas and a healthy does of Indie Rock that ranges from Sonic Youth to Florence and The Machine, Valley Queen appeal to a very diverse range of fans. Valley Queen are preparing for a major US tour in February 2019 with plans to visit the UK and Europe by mid year.

Dead Daisies O2 Islington Academy Review 24/11/18

"It was time for John to take a breather and grab his acoustic guitar as Marco took over on lead vocals on 'Lock N' Load. Co-written by and featuring Slash, David loved every second of this, given he's the only current common denominator in the band when the single was originally written five years ago. 'She Always Gets Her Way (All The Same)' - another from 'Make Some Noise' saw the perspiring Mendoza finish up in the bemused crowd, followed by their very first cover of the evening, Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Fortunate Son' which was also recently covered by Laurence Jones. Lowy and Aldridge duly teased the audience that they're accompanying clapping "could have been better" before Corabi rounded off the electric set by asking Castronovo for "Three Big One's!" Cue - and to our delight - an acoustic interlude which saw all five sitting on stalls with Corabi, Lowy and Alridge on guitars, Mendoza on bass and Castronovo on bongos/tambourine. Kicking off with 'Something I Said' from their 2015 'Revolucion' album, Corabi kept up the relentless banter by asking how many had bought the latest album plus a very funny gag about touring and his pool boy!"

Award Winning Night At 229 24/11/18

The last time we caught the Dan Reed Network was when they supported Extreme last December at The Brixton Academy. Well it was well worth the wait as DRN returned to London last night to headline the 229 Venue in Great Portland Street, for the official launch of their new album 'Origins' as part of their November UK tour. This was also the first opportunity we had of presenting Dan with his 2017 WRC 'Best Acoustic Performance' award following his St. Pancras Church gig in September last year - and unbelievably we had the honour of presenting Dan with said award on stage during his set! Hollowstar and 2017 WRC 'Best Support Band' Mason Hill were also supporting DRN so we also took the opportunity of presenting Mason Hill with their award back stage. Anyway, with a review and more photos to come, check out today's Video Of The Day.

WRC Award Winners At 229 Tonight 23/11/18

"The band return to the UK for a headlining tour to support the launch of the ‘Origins’ album in November 2018.  I was lucky enough to catch them at the Islington O2 Academy last time round and their live show is much more than merely reciting their classic tracks.  Not surprisingly, there is much audience engagement and quite often on-stage experiments with their music, guest musicians to jam with and general top notch entertainment.  So, on the back of this new album offering, will I be going along to London’s 229 Venue in Great Portland Street on Friday 23rd November for more?  Well, yes of course!  How could I miss it?" That was part of our recent review of Dan Reed Network's new CD 'Origins', and indeed we will be at the 229 tonight to see Dan, fellow WRC Award winners Mason Hill (Video Of The Day) plus Hollowstar.

Deen Castronovo Interview 22/11/18

With a review of The Dead Daisies second London show at Islington's O2 Academy on Monday night in the pipeline, today's Track Of The Day is our interview here with drummer and all round nice guy Deen Castronovo. Currently in the middle of their "Welcome To Daisyland" tour and recorded in between the band's intimate, private “Daisyland” acoustic set and their awesome two hour main set, we not only got a feel of happenings back stage but Deen also discusses from his 'dungeon', touring, their latest album, his favourite drummer, cruising, the weather, the muppets, British musical influences, Journey, radio airplay, the management and being a "Rock star". Sydney Rococo Out Tomorrow 22/11/18

A prolific artist who has written, performed and produced 21 solo albums, as well as 30 with Rock legends The Church. Indeed 'Sydney Rococo's release date coincides with the beginning of the Australian leg of The Church’s Starfish 30th Anniversary worldwide tour. 'Sydney Rococo' is a collection of songs Kilbey has written over the last 5 years. The songs sing of Sydney and her ocean pools, her underground seedy hangouts and treachery. The picture is painted in every song about life in this fast growing and evolving Australian city, famed for her beaches and landmarks.

Introducing ..... Sweet Crisis 22/11/18

Sweet Crisis are a contemporary Rock band from Cambridge, and best describe their music as "Soulful and Catchy Rock”! Their musical influences are vast and include artists such as The Rolling Stones, Kings of Leon, Free, Stereophonics, Radiohead and Arcade Fire, to name a few! Sweet Crisis consists of Leo Robarts, lead vocals and guitar, Piers Mortimer, lead guitar, piano and vocals and Dave Cullen on drums. They have been writing, recording and performing music together now for over a decade, and their new single 'Treading In Deep Water' (Video Of The Day) released last week was also Classic Rock Magazine's Track Of The Week praising “A class tune. A catchy, sophisticated mix of piano-led Soul, 70's Southern vibes and Classic Rock & Roll.” Explosive and energetic live, this band are not to be missed.

We had the pleasure once again last week of interviewing South African Blues Rock guitarist Dan Patlansky whose UK tour kicks off tonight at Nottingham's Rescue Rooms with support from Gorilla Riot. Dan's new single 'Too Far Gone' taken from his new EP 'Live 2018' was released last week. We will also be reviewing Dan's gig at London's O2 Academy Islington 1 on Thursday 29th November, but in the meantime check out our interview with Dan here which is also today's Track Of The Day.

Dead Daisies Photo Gallery 21/11/18

The Dead Daisies played the second of their London shows at Islington's O2 Academy on Monday night. Currently in the middle of their "Welcome To Daisyland" tour, the guys opened the doors early to the first 50 in-line with the band playing an intimate, private “Daisyland” acoustic set which included fans favourite 'Lock 'n' Load' plus covers of The Faces 'Stay With Me' and Led Zeppelin's 'Ramble On'. And before support band Massive Wagons storming set, we also managed to get a few words from drummer and all round nice guy Deen Castronovo (pictured). The Daisies then duly plugged in their guitars for an awesome two hour set, finishing with an astonishing cover of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band's 'Midnight Moses'. Anyway with Deen's interview and a review to come, check out today's Photo Gallery here courtesy of John Bull's Rockrpix plus our Video Of The Day.

The Virginmarys Hit London Tonite 21/11/18

In support of their recently released album 'Northern Sun Sessions', The Virginmarys are playing London's Hoxton Bar & Kitchen tonight. Hailing from Macclesfield, the band have been hard at it in the studio since the start of the year self producing and creating fresh new works alongside piecing together previously unfinished material, all of which follow the intensity, honesty and urgency that has become a trademark to The Virginmarys sound. After the success of their debut album ‘King Of Conflict’ and follow up sophomore ‘Divides’ produced and mixed by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies), singer/guitarist Ally Dickaty says this third album is his favourite work to date. The Virginmarys have always endeavoured to remain deeply rooted in their own sound, organically turning away from fads, scenes or indeed anything that steers them away from their own playing styles. Amongst the intensity and danger in The Virginmarys sound, there remains a strong sense of vulnerability and social conscience running through the songs that often lyrically express painful and uncomfortable honesty like a rhetoric of dark journey.

Smelling Of Dead Daisies 20/11/18

Virtually five years to the day that we first saw them headline their very UK show at The Underworld, Camden, The Dead Daisies played the second of their London shows at Islington's O2 Academy last night. Their line up might have changed significantly since their formation in 2012, but the quality of the music hasn't, looking and sounding like they have been playing top quality guitar Rock forever. Currently in the middle of their "Welcome To Daisyland" tour, the guys opened the doors one hour early to the first 50 in-line with the band playing an intimate, private “Daisyland” acoustic set. Following great support from Massive Wagons, The Dead Daisies then duly plugged in their guitars for an awesome two hour set. Anyway with an interview, a review and more photos to come, check out today's Video Of The Day.

Dead Daisies HRH 12 Interview 19/11/18

"The band have only been together since 2012 but are so tight, and look and sound like they have been playing top quality guitar Rock forever. But what makes them stand out is how fresh they sound too. They play a near two hour set from across their albums but also include covers of the Stones 'Bitch', The Who's 'Join Together' and Deep Purple's 'Highway Star' to highlight the British influence which has shaped their sound. In addition, each member of the band was introduced with a small snippet of some Classic Rock covers. But it's their own material that I am singing in my head hours after the set - 'Make Some Noise' and 'Leave Me Alone' being just a pick of a fine crop. With an encore of 'Mexico' and the Beatle's 'Helter Skelter', they closed stage 1 with the intensely satisfying flourish that a great festival deserves. Top, top, stuff." That was part of our recent Dead Daisies Hard Rock Hell 12 review and not only is today's Track Of The Day Mother's interview with the guys after their set, but we are also off to see their second gig in a row at London's O2 Academy Islington tonight.

Collateral To Release Debut EP 19/11/18

Loud, Rockin’ and melodic Collateral release their debut EP ‘4 Shots!’ this Friday 23rd November via Roulette Records. The EP features the band’s new single ‘Midnight Queen’ (today's Video Of The Day) plus three other tracks. Collateral fit neatly into the current NWOCR with their ‘Rock Anthems’ reminiscent of early Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Little Angels, Thunder, Skid Row and Tyketto. What sets Collateral apart from the rest of the new bands is their combination of electric and acoustic guitar set against a big drum sound and throbbing bass guitar. Formerly known as the Angelo Tristan Band, with frontman Angelo and bass player Jack forming the nucleus of the band, and the recent addition of new members Todd Winger (guitar) and Ben Atkinson (drums), they have stepped up their game and are now attracting the attention they deserve. The band will launch the EP with a gig at Leo’s Red Lion in Gravesend, Kent, this Saturday 24th November.

View To A Thrill 18/11/18

Best known as the original vocalist and founding member of the platinum selling Hard Rock band RATT, Stephen Pearcy has been hard at work completing his highly anticipated fifth solo album 'View to a Thrill', while at the same time keeping busy performing shows across the U.S. 'View To A Thrill', released earlier this month, includes 11 superb Ratt ‘n Roll songs written by Pearcy, together with guitarist Erik Ferentinos, that will surely please fans of his last solo effort, 'Smash' as well as fans of his original band, RATT. The track listing flows perfectly and takes you on an audio journey through blistering Rockers mixed with slower, more measured numbers. Like RATT’s catalog, this is a record that showcases the art of the riff! Ferentinos is truly Pearcy's secret weapon as displayed by the mind-bending solos on display throughout 'View To A Thrill'. With over 15 million records sold worldwide with RATT, there is simply no slowing Pearcy down in the 21st century. With Matt Thorne on bass and Scot Coogan also on drums, check out today's Video Of The Day , taken from the new album - 'U Only Live Twice'.

Vambo HRH 12 Interview 18/11/18

"Openers on stage 1 are Epsom's Vambo. Having seen this 4 piece powerhouse perform on the tiny Orange stage at the Stone Free Festival, it was great to see them spread their wings across the expanse of the main stage. The small crowd arousing from the previous night’s revelries grew as did their appreciation of Vambo's 70's inspired Rock. Frontman Jack Stile cavorted around the stage like a madman, despite suffering from 'proper man flu' blasting out powerful lyrics on a set that included a cover of Zeppelin's 'Good Times Bad Times' as well as their last single 'Why, Why, Why' and next release 'Misery'. Which it wasn't. Drummer Steve Price and bassist James Scott keep the powerful groove going whilst axeman Pete Lance shows his awesome chops, not least of which on the closing cover of Deep Purple's 'Burn'." That was our recent Vambo Hard Rock Hell 12 review and today's Track Of The Day is Mother's interview with the guys after their set. Inglorious Added To Stonedeaf 2019 18/11/18

We promised you another announcement on Friday - and boy have Stonedeaf delivered! Following its monster success this year, Stonedeaf 2019 is set to return on Saturday 24th August at the Newark Showground with Inglorious, Wayward Sons and Geoff Tate all being added to the original roster of headliner Glenn Hughes supported by Diamond Head, The Amorettes and Massive! Cited as one of the UK’s friendliest Rock festivals and filling the void of  a one day one stage Rock festival so lacking in the UK - bring it on!

Michael Schenker Fest Forum Review 17/11/18

"The rest of the set was structured into four main sections allowing each of the four singers a chance to take centre stage. With exuberant and jubilant introductions from Schenker, first to step up to the mic and show us what he could do was Doogie White. Opening with the excellent 'Vigilante Man' from the 2015 Temple Of Rock 'Spirit On A Mission’ album, galloping on to the superb 'Lord of the Lost and Lonely' from the 2013 Temple Of Rock 'Bridge The Gap' album, which was seamlessly followed by the catchy and melodic 'Take Me to the Church', one of the stronger songs from the 2018 Michael Schenker Fest 'Resurrection' album. Next up was the immense thumping heavy 'Before the Devil Knows You're Dead' from the 2011 'Temple Of Rock' album, before ending the mini set with the stellar UFO song 'Natural Thing' from the 1976 'No Heavy Petting' album. A superb performance from Doogie, and, to be honest, the best singer of the evening. His voice is strong and muscular, with a rich tone, immense power and deep resonance. A potent force to be reckoned with!"

Phil's Boys In London Tonight 17/11/18

"The penultimate, and for me, the most eagerly anticipated band is Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons. Mr. C., once of Motorhead for over 30 years, has put together a band including his three sons, Tyla, Dane and Todd who play some kick bottom Rock and Roll. Whilst having their own distinct sound, they are made from the same straight up Heavy Rock and Roll material of the aforementioned Motorhead. With an hour long set, the playlist was a well balanced mix of their own material and Motorhead classic covers. When we saw them a few years ago they had limited material of their own but following the release of their album 'The Age Of Absurdity', they have some really strong material. 'Freak Show' and 'Get On Your Knees' being good examples. But it was covers of classics like 'R.A.M.O.N.E.S', 'Ace Of Spades' and 'Silver Machine' (dedicated by Phil to all past Motorhead heroes sadly no longer with us) that got the crowd properly pumped up. Finishing with a cover of 'Bomber', the boys show that they have evolved into a class act that deserves to be headliners at any festival." That was our take on Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons at Hard Rock Hell 12 last week (pictured) and Phil and his boys  are playing London's Boston Music Rooms tonight!

Blackberry In The Smoke Tonight 15/11/18

"Following on the main stage from establishment are the new blood that are Blackberry Smoke. Although you couldn’t get a more 1970’s looking band if you tried. I say new blood, the Georgian 5 piece of Charlie Starr (lead vocals, guitar), Richard Turner (bass, vocals), Brit Turner (drums), Paul Jackson (guitar, vocals), and Brandon Still (keyboards) have been around for nearly 20 years now. And the guitar nerds got a whole festivals worth of eye candy in just one band.  Played through boutique Germino amps, the Southern rocking sound has a Prog keyboard tinge to it. Tracks like ‘Six Ways To Sunday’ has a shuffle beat with a busy bassline and a real feel good factor to it whilst ‘Let It Burn’ is a sultry slow Blues with a keyboard solo and a Gibson 335 Wah-fest. Sandwiched around a cover of the Beatles ‘Come Together’, it was exquisite. Tracks from the new album ‘Find The Light’ get an airing but with favourites like ‘Shakin Hands With The Holy Ghost’ and ‘One Horse Town’ before finishing with ‘Ain’t Much Left Of Me’ - I could have listened to them all day." That was our take on Blackberry Smoke at this year's Ramblin' Man Fair (pictured) and Charlie and the guys are playing London's Shepherd's Bush Empire tonight!

Introducing .... Little Red Kings 15/11/18

Little Red Kings (today's Track Of The Day) are a group of five dedicated musicians based around Norwich. A vision of alternative Roots Rock brought them together, and with a powerful live show they haven't looked back. Their music combines a gritty, earthy quality, reminiscent of British Classic Blues Rock bands of the 70's with strong melodies and elements of modern Alternative Rock. Jason Wick is the groups founder member, lead vocalist, and guitarist. Scotsman Dougie Archer, adds guitar and front-man quality back up vocals with Ben Beach on bass. Craig Stevenson tinkles the ivory substitutes, and anything else he can get his hands on, whilst Harry Wickham on drums, keeps the whole thing, tight and loose enough. June this year saw the release of their eagerly awaited studio album 'Callous', a "rootsy-tootsy", rocking, rolling, modern take, on a Classic Rock, Rhythm and Blues album.

HRH 12 Day Three Review 13/11/18

"Stage 1 gets our interest as we live the delights of our youth, or even our parents youth, as John Coghlan's Quo take to the stage. The eponymous Coghlan, long time drummer for the denimed giants, has put together a 4 piece that brings a raft of Quo classics back to enjoy again. Opening with 'Caroline', the band play some near note perfect renditions of 'Roll Over Lay Down', '(April), Spring Summer and Wednesdays', 'Break The Rules' and 'Paper Plane' as well as the original 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men' which is 50 years old this year. Emerging from behind his drumkit, Coghlan addresses the raptured crowd and remembers the much missed Rick Parfitt with a heartfelt round of applause from the audience. And in his memory they played the festival defining 'Rain' before raising the bar again with 'Big Fat Mumma', 'Rocking All Over the World' and closer 'Down Down'. Great songs that I defy anybody not to "shake it all about" to."

Soapgirls & Goodbye June In London Tonight 13/11/18

We witnessed a great set from Goodbye June (Video Of The Day) supporting the mighty Greta Van Fleet at London's Forum in Kentish Town on Sunday night (pictured) and not only have they recently released their EP 'Secrets In The Sunset' but they are also playing Camden's Black Heart tonight. Meanwhile, if you fancy a night of total Rock ’n’ Roll abandon then Sassy Road warriors The SoapGirls are playing just up the road tonight at The Monarch (on stage 9.30pm). The perfect balance of attitude, swagger and raw rasping vocals, their latest album 'Society's Rejects', is full of straight up Rock ’n' Roll songs - tons of energy, flashes of anger and serrated guitar-driven angst.

'Anytime You Need Me' was recorded at Superfly Studios in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, and was produced by Wayne Proctor, who will be Ben’s drummer during the tour, with Beau Barnard on bass and Joe Mac on keyboards. Anyway, check out today's Video Of The Day, filmed earlier this month in Switzerland on the European leg of Ben's tour.

HRH 12 Day Two Review 11/11/18

"Opening with 'Thunderbolt', the band seamlessly wove their fabric of awesomeness. Then a setlist including 'Sacrifice', 'Nosferatu', classics like 'Motorcycle Man' and 'Strong Arm Of The Law', got the crowd jumping and pumping. They also paid tribute to Lemmy and co, who greatly supported them in their early years, by playing their Motorhead tribute track "Rock And Roll'. The well received track resulted in a member of the crowd pitching his denim waistcoat, adorned with Motorhead patches, onto the stage. Frontman Biff picks it up, don's it over his trademark trenchcoat, and precedes to sing 'And The Bands Played On' and 'Crusader' adorned in it. A remarkable touch from Biff was the trouble he took to sign the waistcoat before returning it to the delighted owner. Class act."

Stan Webb's Chicken Shack Review 11/11/18

"‘Broken Hearted Melody’ from ‘Plucking Good’ greeted us with intense and chilling bottle neck slide guitar from Webb that cut straight down deep into our souls. Played with fountains of emotional intensity, and sang with much painful yearning and vulnerability! Magnificent stuff! The stellar ‘Tell Me', from the 1969 album ‘OK Ken’, originally written by Chester Arthur Burnett (better known as Howlin' Wolf) in 1960, showcased Webb's amazing vibrato vocals to great effect. The longing in his voice was emoted to perfection, truly awe-inspiring!"

Fleet Forum Continues Tonight 11/11/18

A modern Rock and Roll band, who are all about creating arena-sized anthems, super-sized hooks and layering wailing vocals over it all. That's the rapidly rising Greta Van Fleet (Video Of The Day) who play the second of their three sold out O2 Forum gigs in Kentish Town, London tonight. Rejuvenating the genres that influenced them so much, they’re a band leading the way for a new generation of Rock stars. Three are brothers, two of them are twins, and one a best friend, all from the idyllic Michigan village of Frankenmuth (population 5,000)! Greta Van Fleet's influences are varied, mainly rooted in their parents' vast vinyl collection that includes Led Zeppelin amongst others!

Erja Lyytinen Borderline Review 10/11/18

"Lyytinen then teased us with a mouthwatering Mississippi Delta Blues medley. "Would you like some Muddy Waters? Robert Johnson? How about this girl from Finland?" Of course the answer was a unanimous yes as Erja mesmerised us once again with her side prowess before asking "Are you ready?" as she rounded off her superb set off with the unusual time signature of the head banging 'Rocking Chair' - another from 'Stolen Hearts' - essentially a true Blues track with trademark in yer face slide guitar plus a nice grooving riff and vocal that made way for both a fantastic Laitinen drum solo and Back bass solo. Before finishing off the night with an excellent encore/cover of Hendrix's 'Crosstown Traffic', Erja deservedly gave a plug for her forthcoming album, mentioning Mr. Landreth of course! Well why not?"

Read the whole of AJ's Erja Lyytinen London Borderline review from Tuesday here plus check out both today's Video Of The Day and our Photo Gallery here. And if you missed Tuesday's gig - you might be lucky and snap up a last minute ticket to see Erja supporting Focus at London's iconic 100 Club tonight.

HRH 12 Day One Review 10/11/18

'Freak Show' and "Get On Your Knees' being good examples. But it was covers of classics like 'R.A.M.O.N.E.S', 'Ace Of Spades' and 'Silver Machine' (dedicated by Phil to all past Motorhead heroes sadly no longer with us) that got the crowd properly pumped up. Finishing with a cover of 'Bomber', they boys show that they have evolved into a class act that deserves to be headliners at any festival."

Schorr Touch Bude This Weekend 10/11/18

As well as HRH 12 and Focus, there are a number of other gigs taking place this weekend including Sari Schorr supporting the Nimmo Brothers at a sold out Hammersmith Club in London tonight, Bad Touch (Track Of The Day) headlining London's ULU Live tonight supported by Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classsics plus Daxx & Roxanne and finally The Bude Blues Rhythm & Rock Festival continues with Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado and Wishbone Ash headlining tonight and tomorrow respectively!

Great Danes In London Tonight! 9/11/18

Danish Blues-Rockers Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado (Best Band - European Blues Awards 2017) and Irish Blues-Roots guitarist and singer songwriter Grainne Duffy are playing London's Under The Bridge tonight. As TR&TBT enters its fourteenth year, this Danish band has been called one of the most successful Blues & Roots bands on the European continent, whilst, described by The Sunday Times as "A Blues singer of real integrity", Grainne Duffy is a pioneer of her own style while also paying sincere homage to her Roots, Soul, Blues, Country and Rock traditions. Meanwhile, Copenhagen’s Progressive, genre-crossing quartet Vola are also playing The Dome in London tonight following the release of their new album 'Applause Of A Distant Crowd' last month, via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group.

Hard Rock Hell Massive 9/11/18

"Suffice to say that once the sounds problems were sorted out Massive cranked up the tempo as they weaved around the small stage wringing every possible sinew out of their performance with their full frontal Aussie Rock including 'One By One',  fans favourite 'Blood Money Blues', 'Dancefloor', 'Burn The Sun', Ghost', new single 'Calm Before The Storm' from their forthcoming album and finished with 'Now Or Never'. However, despite the fact that the rain had relented since yesterday, but thanks to copious cans of lager being opened up on stage during their set, with Ben chucking cans at his brother and Brad pouring a full can over his head whilst playing guitar (seriously) - cue Marr's wardrobe malfunction as he slipped and split his crotch - you couldn't make it up! Entertainment wise, these guys are the full package and long may it continue!" That was part of our review of Massive at Ramblin' Man Fair in July last year and as well as being today's Video Of The Day, the guys are playing the Hard Rock Hell Main Stage at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales, at 4.20pm tomorrow!

Erja Lyytinen To Return To UK In March 2019 8/11/18

With a photo gallery here today from Erja Lyytinen's London Borderline gig on Tuesday night, plus a review to come, the good news is that the European Blues Award winner will be returning to the UK in March 2019. Erja has also just been nominated for the second year in a row as Guitarist of the Year 2018 by the European Blues Awards and will release her new studio album in 2019 on her own record label Tuohi Records. The new album will feature guest performances from Sonny Landreth and Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson). The album will include Erja’s two new singles 'Without You' and 'Another World', which were released digitally in 2018.

Hard Rock Hell Kicks Off Today 8/11/18

Following the Hard Rock Hell Awards last night, HRH 12 finally kicks off today at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales. As our HRH countdown comes to an end, today's Video Of The Day is Glasgow Heavy Rock band Anchor Lane who are playing tomorrow evening and have become a regular fixture on the Scottish music scene. The four-piece’s stunning debut EP ‘New Beginning’ highlights the band as skilled songwriters with a talent for writing powerful riffs. Anchor Lane have rapidly grown in stature and reputation, steadily building momentum and picking up rave reviews with their own headline shows and key guest slots. Indeed, 2018 has been an extremely exciting year for Anchor Lane with their debut album in the works and a host of prominent live shows throughout the country.

Molly Hatchet Tour UK Next Month 8/11/18

"Closing out the night, and the festival, were Southern Rock legends Molly Hatchet. Somewhat curiously they were minus one guitarist, which meant their usual twin guitar boogie sound was restricted to the single guitar of Bobby Ingram. But he played it with style and they closed the night with a string of classics finishing, obviously, with ‘Boogie No More’." That was our take at Hard Rock Hell in November 2016 and Molly Hatchet (Track Of The Day) return to the UK this December namely: 5th The Robin 2,  Wolverhampton, 6th Waterfront, Norwich, 7th Dingwalls, London, 8th Plug, Sheffield and 9th The Globe, Cardiff.  For tickets go here or call 08444 220 026.

(The) Wild! At (Black) Heart (Tonight) 7/11/18

Visceral Canadian rockers The Wild! hit London's Black Heart stage in Camden tonight on the back of last year's storming debut album '‘Wild At Heart’', produced by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Jimmy Page, Metallica, Van Halen). Supported by Those Damn Crows, The Wild! are a vital, organic four piece who hail from Kelowna, British Columbia, who take the gritty authenticity of the Delta Blues, speed it up with a reckless Punk Rock attitude, and then roll all that up into a Southern Rock cigarette. The band were nominated ‘Best New Rock Band’ at the 2015 Canadian Radio Music Awards, after their debut EP ‘'GxDxWxB’', (which stands for ‘God Damn Wild Boys’), crashed into the top five of the Rock Chart, leading to major Canadian tours with Airbourne, Buckcherry, Godsmack, Korn, Monster Truck, Rise Against and Sebastian Bach.

HRH Countdown Continues - Voodoo Blood 7/11/18

With the Hard Rock Hell Awards taking place tonight at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales, we also look forward to this Friday 9th November when Voodoo Blood (Video Of The Day) take to HRH Stage Two at 3.55pm. This band take the swagger and soul of some of the 70’s Rock giants and turn it into an irresistible brew of truly ferocious and blistering heavy Blues Rock, matched with superb song writing and huge hooks. Live, Voodoo Blood give off enough energy to light up a large city. Front woman Kim prowling the stage whilst the boys, Sean, Chris and Will, crank out the riffs over monstrous grooves. This really is feral Blues, played hard, heavy and with blistering commitment. The bands brand new second EP takes the band’s high octane Rock to new levels, evolving in heavier and groovier ways than ever before. 'Fresh Hell' draws from other influences of the band, flirting with darker tones whilst still holding the bands staple ‘Blues on steroids’ sound.

Award Winning Rock 7/11/18

On today's WRC Award winning Rock On The Ridge Podcast Track Of The Day, there's music from Foreigner (pictured), Jizzy Pearl, City Of Thieves, RavenEye, Collateral, Dead Man's Whiskey, Bedrokk, Blue Nation, The Blue Stones, Riot Horse, The Rocket Dolls, Samarkind, Desktop Rulers, Prospect Hill, Rainbreakers, RHR Redfern, Hutchinson & Ross, The Doors, Edenthorn, The Reverent Cavaliers, Austin Gold, Fish, Shaman's Harvest and on their Introducing Stage, two in a row from Burden Down.

Erja Borderline Bound Tonight 6/11/18

"The downbeat Blues burner 'Slowly Burning' with its Lyytinen a cappella "Can You Feel My Pain Now People" was another opportunity for Erja to take it out on her Fender Strat with a smooth controlled vocal delivery given the song's emotional context plus a delightful 'Parisienne Walkways' outro. Before Erja belted out the title track 'Stolen Hearts' - she fittingly paid tribute to legendary producer Chris Kimsey for his contribution to the album. Erja then managed to get some audience participation in singing "Stolen Hearts" before she once more demonstrated both her strong vocals and fret board skills with a Hendrix twist that effectively turned into a very tasty little jam." That was part of our take on Erja Lyytinen at London's The Borderline in September last year and Erja returns to play the same venue tonight.

HRH Countdown Continues - Smoking Martha 6/11/18

Our Hard Rock Hell 12 countdown, to be held at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales, from this Thursday, continues with Smoking Martha who play this Saturday 10th November. Coincidentally, their debut album 'In Deep' (complete with bonus tracks) gets its UK/European official release the day before via Bad Reputation Records. The Aussie Alternative Rock band (today's Video Of The Day) are also doing a run of UK shows including London's The Black Heart on Friday 30th November. Hailing from Brisbane/Gold Coast, their debut album is brimming with hooky riffs and alluring smoky vocals. Recorded at Loose Stone Studios with Matthew Bartlem (Matt Corby, Dead Letter Circus) in the producer’s chair, it perfectly encapsulates the bands heavy hitting, but versatile sound. Combine all this with a stack of shows impressing audiences with the likes of Wolfmother, Thunder, Seether, Hardcore Superstar, Fuel, Everclear, P.O.D., Cherie Currie (The Runaways) and more, Smoking Martha continues to grow their fanbase and the potency of an intense reputation as one of Australia's must see Rock bands live in the UK this November.

Having sold out the iconic London Palladium 10 months in advance, renowned Space Rock band Hawkwind consequently added further UK dates for their brand new concept show ‘In Search of Utopia - Infinity and Beyond’ and they complete their five day schedule with a second gig at the Palladium tonight. For the very first time in their illustrious career, the band will be joined by a live orchestra in what promises to be amongst their most exciting and ambitious live concerts to date. The score for the show is produced by the legendary Mike Batt. He has also has conducted some of the world’s greatest orchestras including the London Symphony and Royal Philharmonic.

HRH Countdown Continues - Vambo 5/11/18

"Following on are what can best be described as the explosion that is Vambo. The Epsom four-piece have exploded onto the scene with airplay on Planet Rock and shows both home and abroad. Indeed, following the set, the band are off to Hungary to do a couple of shows in the homeland of guitarist Pete Lance. Vambo are a great young band influenced by the Rock bands of the seventies. Lance's searing guitar goodness - a Les Paul through a fantastic Kemper modelling amp - are pure rocky filth and goodness and he show some considerable skills up and down the fretboard. Vocalist Jack Stiles, taking his looks and styling from 70's legend Roy Wood of Wizard, has an extremely powerful voice. Their closing track - a copy of Deep Purple's 'Burn' - showcases what final vocal talents he has. You don't cover such iconic Rock tracks like that lightly and he nailed it." That was part of our take on Vambo at London's Stone Free Festival at The O2 Arena in June this year and in our HRH Countdown - the guys (Video Of The Day and who we also interviewed here) are on stage this Friday 9th November at 2pm.

A Mile Of Blues 5/11/18

With Hard Rock Hell 12, held at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales, due to kick off with their HRH awards next Wednesday 7th November, today we continue our HRH 12 countdown with Walkway who are playing Stage 2 on Saturday 10th at 5.45pm. Now in their 11th year, having played over 1000 shows, and still only in their twenties; Walkway (today's Video Of The Day) firmly have the reputation as one of the UK’s brightest up and coming Rock bands. Hailing from Diss, East Anglia, Walkway take on the old fashioned approach of hard work by consistently touring around the UK, performing 100+ shows each year in music venues, pubs, bars, clubs and festivals - thus resulting in them often being described as “The hardest working band in Britain”. With the driving force of founding members the Ready Brothers, Walkway have opened for Status Quo (electric and acoustic), The Darkness, Black Stone Cherry, Slade, Bernie Marsden, Eric Martin (Mr. Big) and Graham Bonnet, plus had national airplay on BBC Radio 2. In 2017 the band also released their highly anticipated third album 'WWIII', which has received rave reviews from the press and public with comments of "best Rock album of 2017".

Manor Of The Se7en Gables 4/11/18

Notable new German/American Metal band Them, who merge the most significant components of US power and Thrash Metal, to meld their own singular musical potion with lyrics focusing on spooks and horror, released their consummate second album, ‘Manor Of The Se7en Gables’ through Steamhammer/SPV just before Halloween. ‘Manor Of The Se7en Gables’ (see today's Track Of The Day) takes up thematically from where 2016’s debut ‘Sweet Hollow’ album left off but goes on to explore the stylistic extremes of this musical genre even further. German main songwriter and guitarist Markus Ullrich, who was one of the founder members of Prog Metal band Lanfear before joining Them in Autumn 2013 (and continues to be a member of Speed/Thrash Metal act Septagon and instrumental project A Cosmic Trail), was assisted on the album by US bassist Mike Lepond (Symphony X, Ross The Boss), who contributed as a guest musician in the studio, and - as on ‘Sweet Hollow’ - put the icing on the cake (or rather the songs) with his musical experience, as did Paul Sabu (Alice Cooper, David Bowie), who further refined the material as a chorus vocalist.

HRH Countdown Begins Today - Snew 3/11/18

With Hard Rock Hell 12, held at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales, due to kick off with their HRH awards next Wednesday 7th November, today we begin our HRH 12 countdown with Snew who are appearing on Friday. The Californian Rockers are caught somewhere between the vocal prowess of Bon Scott and Ian Gillan plus the solid 80's-inspired riffage of Motley Crue, and have spent the last decade making a lot of noise and a lot of friends. All of which lead to the release in mid-September of their fourth and latest album, 'You’ve Got Some Nerve'; a thrilling ride of high octane Hard Rock, that streams from the heart and keeps the fist-pumping party vibe every step of the way. From the opening salvo of first single 'UR Freaking Me Out' (today's Video Of The Day) , to the Blues driven, early Whitesnake bite of 'Revolution Is A Closed Loop', through to the raucous self-titled closer. Come in, get up and dance, because all are welcome.

Junkyard Rocks Croydon Today 3/11/18

Hollywood Rockers Junkyard began their UK tour supporting their long-time buddies Blackberry Smoke in Newcastle last night, and today they head south to play Croydon Rocks. Raucous, Blues-based and uncompromising, the eleven songs that made up their last album ‘High Water' marked a triumphant return on their first official album since 1991. While odds and sods had been released over the intervening years, ’High Water’ provided a firm statement of the band’s ongoing intent upon its release in April 2017. The album also boasts writing and lead guitar credits from Brian Baker, a Junkyard founding member who played with the band for many years but now plies his trade full time with Bad Religion, while on the road they are joined by Jimmy James (The Hangmen), with founding member Pat Muzingo and bassist Todd Muscat (who joined in 1991) rounding out the line-up. Junkyard’s classic sound also got some help from a fan and friend, with Charlie Starr of the aforementioned Blackberry Smoke writing the dramatic, forthright statement ‘Til the Wheels Fall Off’ specifically for the band.

The Lion From The North 3/11/18

Following the news that their 2012 album 'Carolus Rex' has reached quadruple platinum status in their home country Sweden, Sabaton are excited to reveal a new lyric video for the song 'The Lion From The North' which is our Track Of The Day. The concept album - which is the band's biggest success to date - charts the rise and fall of the Swedish Empire, in particular the life of Charles XII ("Carolus Rex") who ruled it for 21 years. In an amazing coincidence, the album's quadruple platinum certification comes exactly 300 years after the King's death in 1718! The band will be presented with their quadruple platinum disc later this year, when 'Carolus Rex' will take its place as one of Sweden's most successful home-grown Rock albums. To celebrate the album's success, and to commemorate the Swedish King who inspired it, Sabaton will release a special 300th year anniversary edition of 'Carolus Rex' on Friday 30th November 30th which is the date Carolus Rex was killed in Norway.

Northern Sun Sessions 2/11/18

The Virginmarys (Video Of The Day) are back with a new album due to be released on Sunday 18th November entitled 'Northern Sun Sessions'.

Uncertain Times 2/11/18

"This was an incredible concert played with great precision and passion, but for me this felt like very cerebral music for the head rather than something for my heart – but then again I do not possess that life-long emotional ‘fan’ connection so evident in so many ‘Krim’ worshippers present. However, there can be no denying the exceptional musical abilities and timing demonstrated in songs that demand split-second reactions to crossover rhythms, key changes and sudden u-turns mid-number that made the incredibly difficult seem easy. This is high-end musicianship that would challenge the most accomplished performers from any genre." That was part of our take when we last saw King Crimson at Hackney Empire just over three years ago, and the 2015 WRC Best Prog Performance Award winners return to London tonight at the London Palladium.
