Danny Vaughn Black Heart Review 29/8/19

"The set continued to become an unplugged microcosm of Danny's musical career, dipping into previous solo albums, such as 'Traveller' with 'Badlands Rain' and 'Miracle Days', but also 2002's 'Standing Alone' with 'Seasons' plus the title track, with its infectious and almost compulsive singalong chorus. There was no let up in the Vaughn banter though, with Danny on one hand jokingly blaming special guests Collateral for all the technical malfunctions, plus on the other, Vaughn interrupting a story to diplomatically tell those still talking at the back to #STFU. They obviously were all to busy talking, to hear Danny's story earlier that he is in fact descended from Native Americans. Be afraid - be very afraid."

Tate Underworld Tonight 29/8/19

"The stage is almost completely cleared for the headline act, leaving maximum room for everyone to move around. The hospital intro starts rolling for 'Anarchy X', and the crowd cheers as the opening notes  of 'Revolution Calling' fill the room. I've got to say that all the way through the sound was good with the vocals coming over very clearly. And that's the point here, we have come mainly to hear the vocals. Tate was amazing 30 years ago and age seems to have done little to reduce his amazing vocal range. Yes, of course there are concessions, but he still delivers a totally compelling performance." That was part of our take on Geoff Tate at London's The Underworld back in December 2018, and Tate, who also played Stonedeaf 2019 last Saturday (pictured), returns to the same Camden venue tonight, supported by Gin Annie (today's Video Of The Day).

Cleethorpes Blockheads 28/8/19

The first of three co-headline acts has recently been announced for the 10th Anniversary Cleethorpes Blues Rhythm And Rock Festival 2020 that takes place next year at the Cleethorpes Beachcomber on Sunday 21st June. Starting out as the band behind Ian Dury, the Blockheads are a legendary outfit that has grown in stature from the early days of the Stiff tour in 1977, right up to the present day. Backing up Ian Dury’s poetic lyrics, this is the band that brought you ‘Hit Me with your Rhythm Stick’, ‘What A Waste’, ‘Reasons to be Cheerful (Part 3)’, and ‘Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll’, among many others. Rarely off the road since the demise of Ian Dury in 2000, but now with Derek Hussey fronting the band, the Blockheads are still one of the most underrated British bands of all time, with a legion of fans of all ages.

Hawk Eyes Advice 28/8/19

Following an informal hiatus, Hawk Eyes are back with their fourth album, ‘Advice’, due to be released next Friday 6th September. ‘Advice’ showcases the widest range of styles and dynamics yet from Hawk Eyes. The band’s aim was to create an album where every track has its own identity, yet it works as a whole. As with every previous album, the band has been able to expand their sound once again and surprise listeners with unique twists and turns. For example, ‘Royal Trouble’, today's Video Of The Day, is not only the first single, but also its opening track - a huge song with a huge chorus serving as a fitting reintroduction to the band! Meanwhile, ‘Smokes’ features a spoken word guest appearance from actor and writer Richard O’Brien, whom you might recognise from his roles in the Rocky Horror Picture Show (Riff Raff), Dark City and The Crystal Maze series. With his iconic voice, Richard was the perfect choice for the track!

Too Much Rain 28/8/19

Imagine a life where every day you get up and drive your shit car to your shit job, completely indifferent to the fact that each dragging moment takes you a step closer to mercifully losing your mind. Well today's Track Of The Day is Black Aces latest single ‘Too Much Rain’, a rollocking, foot-stomping tribute to the drudgery of working-class life. Hailing from Bendigo in Central Victoria, the Aussie band consists of Tyler Kinder - lead guitar/vocals, Jarrad Morrice - rhythm guitar, Alex McMillan - bass guitar and Pete McMillan drums, and ‘Too Much Rain’ follows hot on the heels of ‘Feverdreams’, the second release from their upcoming EP ‘Never Change', that will be available through Off Yer Rocka Recordings during October 2019. Black Aces hard-won live pedigree shines through on their latest tracks following relentless overseas touring in support of 2017’s 'Anywhere But Here', an album that generated rave reviews from music mags and blogs alike, including Classic Rock and Rock Hard.

Stonedeaf Festival Review 27/8/19

"To sum the festival up in one word, I feel awesome is as close as I can think of, it really is superb production seeing as the organisers are relatively in their festival organising infancy. The Newark Showground venue is very well located, close to the A1. The land is very flat and you can park your car on a concrete strip, which what was maybe an old airfield runway, so you will never be stuck in the mud. To top that, you are only metres away from your tent as the camping field runs alongside the disused runway, plus some of the food bars are on the same strip and the stage is around 200 metres from the campsite. It is fantastically compact, but there is more than ample space for decent sized tents without the sardines feeling. The volunteers have so much common sense, none of those little Hitlers and power mad jobsworths that you get at larger festivals, or the type of security that want to strip search you instead of just looking in your bag."

Live At The Fillmore 27/8/19

The Wood Brothers will release 'Live at the Fillmore', the latest edition to an ongoing series of concert recordings, next Friday 6th September via Honey Jar/Thirty Tigers. The 14-track collection presents highlights from the band's two night stand at the historic San Francisco venue earlier this year, and  the album's first single, 'Keep Me Around' is today's Track Of The Day. Consisting of  guitarist Oliver Wood, bassist Chris Wood and drummer Jano Rix, at every turn, the band gleefully subverts expectation, surprising even themselves at times as they blur the lines between Folk and Rock, Blues and Funk, traditional and trailblazing. 'Live at the Fillmore' follows The Wood Brothers' most recent studio release, 2018's critically lauded 'One Drop Of Truth', which garnered a Grammy Award nomination for Best Americana Album. The band will remain on the road through the end of 2019, including their first-ever headline appearance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre next Thursday 5th September and a headline tour through the Midwest and Texas beginning in November.

Riskee Cut Their Teeth 27/8/19

Hot on the heels of storming sets at both Rebellion and Boomtown Festivals, today's Video Of The Day is eclectic Kent Punks Riskee and The Ridicule's new single – ‘Cut Your Teeth’ – from their recently released ‘Body Bag Your Scene’ album via Bomber Music. An aggro, full-on sonic assault, ‘Cut Your Teeth’ is the perfect representation of the driving force behind Riskee and The Ridicule and where they’re at in 2019. It’s been an amazing year for the band, which saw the highly anticipated release of their third album well received by both fans and critics alike - a record that holds a mirror to the world with simultaneously acerbic and humourous analysis. You can also catch the band live at various dates from August to November including London's Electric Ballroom in Camden on Saturday 2nd November.

Allman Betts CD Review 26/8/19

"The short version of this album review is: brilliant!  Go out and buy/download it etc. immediately! Being the son of a famous musician doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be any good with an instrument or avoid having a tin ear, but in the case of Devon Allman, son of Gregg Allman, and Duane Betts, son of Allman Brothers’ guitarist Dicky Betts, the apples have fallen very close to the tree, and despite this being a debut album, this fine collection of songs display a real maturity; while sounding as fresh as any contemporary Blues influenced record, it also manages to sound like it could have been recorded sometime during the early to mid-70’s."

Beast Over Europe 26/8/19

Outstanding German Melodic Metal six-piece Mob Rules, whose ninth studio album, ‘Beast Reborn’, was hugely acclaimed on release last Summer, are set to unleash their first live album for fourteen  years, ‘Beast Over Europe’, on Steamhammer/SPV on Friday 13th September. The album contains fourteen of the band’s best songs, recorded at select venues on the band’s ‘Beast Reborn’ tour around Europe (including the UK - with Eden’s Curse in April), fittingly celebrating Mob Rules 25th Anniversary. Having just released the aforementioned milestone ‘Beast Reborn’ album (which crashed into the German National album chart at 37), ‘Beast Over Europe’ totally captures the uplifting, powerful vibes generated as Mob Rules romped round Europe, tearing their audience off their feet at every gig. Signifying that close connection with their followers, Mob Rules included their fans in the design process of the new live album artwork when they made an online call to share favourite photos from concerts or experiences with the band from over the last two years.

Tear The Sky Wide Open 26/8/19

Modern Rock has just been delivered a massive shot in the arm! Silverthorne features the soaring powerhouse vocals of Englishman Pete Shoulder and drummer Brian Tichy, who has played with everyone from Whitesnake, Ozzy, Slash, Billy Idol, Foreigner and many more legendary artists. Along with bassist Daniel Spree, Silverthorne have delivered a monstrous debut single in the shape of 'Tear The Sky Wide Open' which is today's Track Of The Day. With its ominous riff, huge chorus, driving bass, weighty drums and a groove that evokes the vast expanse of the Southern California canyons from where the band was born, the single has already got fans salivating. With influences ranging from deep Blues to Hard Rock, and acoustic Folk to Metal, 'Tear The Sky Wide Open' is just a taste of the soulful and earthy Rock songs to be found on Silverthorne’s forthcoming debut EP. Music that tips its hat to the Classic Rock bands of yesteryear as well as looking firmly to the future.

Stonedeaf Back With A Bang 25/8/19

Cited as one of the UK’s friendliest Rock festivals, and filling the void of a one day, one stage Rock festival, so lacking in the UK, Stonedeaf 2019 followed up its monster success last year with a bang at the Newark Showground yesterday, thanks to headliner Glenn Hughes supported by Geoff TateInglorious, Wayward Sons, Massive, Diamond Head (photo Phil Clarke), The Amorettes, Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons and Samarkind. Anyway, with a review and Photo Gallery to come, check out today's Samarkind Video Of The Day.

The Oklahoma Kid 25/8/19

The Oklahoma Kid's new single 'Feed Me Fear' is today's Track Of The Day, and is taken from their upcoming full-length debut record 'Solarray', which will be available on Friday 13th September via Arising Empire. The band stand for breathtaking modern Metal that bridges the gap between technical intricacy and energizing rhythms. Since their formation in 2012, the band - consisting of Tomm Brümmer - vocals, Fred Stölzel - guitars, Andreas Reinhard - guitars, Robert Elfenbein - bass and David J. Burtscher - drums - has consistently pushed the envelope and have established their foundation in the German Metal scene. Mat's A Sinner 25/8/19

Sinner have certainly succeeded in living up to their own standards on their new album, 'Santa Muerte', scheduled for release on AFM/Soulfood on Friday 13th September. Artists such as Mat Sinner, who’s kept his band on target for more than 35 years, releasing well over a dozen studio albums (plus a number of live recordings and compilations), have got to be doing a lot of things right. The success of the German Heavy Metal act is based, last but not least, on its boss’s talent for unwaveringly sticking to his chosen course while never losing his passion for new challenges. Consequently, they have delivered another outstanding album, recorded by a line-up consisting of guitarist/co-composer Tom Naumann and Alex Scholpp as well as drummer and new addition Markus Kullmann (ex-Voodoo Circle). Sinner also take the new album out on the German road for various dates in September and October.

Stonedeaf Today 24/8/19

"London, thank you so much" Hughes cried out at he left the stage, once again to rapturous applause. As Staffordshire's finest so eloquently put it on the night: "Stand up for Rock music. It's not going anywhere. It's in this room. It's living, breathing, feeling it, sweating it. Seeing it, talking it, playing it and forever hold its peace." On tonight's evidence Glenn, thanks for practicing what you preach and for keeping Rock music very much alive and arse-kicking!" That was part of our take on Glenn Hughes at London's Electric Ballroom back in October 2018 (pictured and today's Video Of The Day), and headliner Hughes completes a mouthwatering line-up at Stonedeaf 2019 today at the Newark Showground supported by Geoff TateInglorious, Wayward Sons, Massive, Diamond Head, The Amorettes, Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons and Samarkind.

Comprised of Paul Laine (vocals, guitar), Bruno Ravel (bass) and Rob Marcello (guitar), fans in the know will immediately recognise that these three fabulous musicians all have ties to popular Hard Rockers Danger Danger. With their debut record having been rapturously greeted as a glorious return to the in your face Melodic Hard Rock that enraptured millions of fans back in the 80’s and 90’s, and is currently enjoying a renaissance, making a follow-up was a no-brainer. ’Zokusho’, a Japanese word meaning ‘sequel’ or ‘the next chapter’, is a big Melodic Rock album with huge choruses, hooks, soaring guitars and vocals that has all the ingredients to thrill fans of both The Defiants and Danger Danger. Runrig 'The Last Dance' CD Review 18/8/19

"The concerts, played out picturesquely in the shadow of Stirling Castle in front of a total of 52,000 hardcore fans and featuring a total of 31 career spanning songs were clearly emotional occasions.  The music Runrig played (that sounds horribly final) was a kind of full on unique mixture of Gaelic Folk and stadium Rock.  The Folk influence meant that the subject matter of their songs had an emotional depth and range that made them stand out from the average bunch of Rockers and their Rock influences provided the power to wow large audiences around the world."

Introducing .... The Wang Dang Doodle 18/8/19

Today's Track Of The Day, The Wang Dang Doodle, is a four-piece Blues Rock band from all over Europe. The band has been playing around pubs, clubs and festivals, and is well known for the adrenaline high shows combined with great musicianship and skills. The band consists of four friends, Laurent Mouflier on harp and vocals, Kosmas Mylon on guitar, Simon Pires on bass and Francesco Cuturi on drums,  who have played in the past as sidemen with artists/bands such as Mick Taylor, Ronnie Wood, The Pretty Things, Nine Below Zero, and have also worked within studios and with organizations like Metropolis and Musician Union. Influenced by the Blues greats, they not only set upon playing the Blues across the UK and Europe, but also work on and write their own music, inspired by much heavier sounds.

Genesis Revisited - Live At The RFH 18/8/19

Following a sensational 2018 UK tour, legendary guitarist Steve Hackett has announced the release of a 2CD + Blu-Ray digipak titled ‘'Genesis Revisited Band & Orchestra: Live at the Royal Festival Hall’' on Friday 25th October via InsideOutMusic. The set includes tracks from Steve’'s time with Genesis and also from his extensive solo career. The album was recorded on Thursday 4th October last year in London during the 2018 Genesis Revisited Tour, which fulfilled a long held ambition of Steve’'s: to perform the music of Genesis with a live orchestra. The concert featured Steve’'s regular touring band of Roger King (keyboards), Gary O’Toole (drums/percussion), Rob Townsend (saxes/flutes) with Nad Sylvan on vocals and Jonas Reingold (The Flower Kings) on bass, together with special guests John Hackett and Amanda Lehmann, and augmented by the 41-piece Heart Of England Orchestra conducted by Bradley Thachuk.

Stonedeaf Countdown Begins 17/8/19

Following its monster success last year, it's now just one week and counting, as Stonedeaf 2019 is set to return on Saturday 24th August at the Newark Showground with headliner Glenn Hughes supported by Inglorious (pictured), Wayward Sons, Geoff Tate, Diamond Head (Video Of The Day), The Amorettes, Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons, Samarkind and Massive! Cited as one of the UK’s friendliest Rock festivals and filling the void of  a one day one stage Rock festival so lacking in the UK - bring it on!

Skunk Academy Tonight 17/8/19

Today's Track Of The Day is Skunk Anansie's latest single ‘What You Do For Love’ – their first new track in three years - and a video taken during the European leg of their 25LIVE@25 tour which stops off at a sold out O2 Academy Brixton in London tonight, supported by Black Orchid Empire. The band are widely hailed as one of the most influential and important British Rock acts around today, having blazed a trail as a politically-charged band who address both the biggest social issues of the day, as well as the tender moments that make us human. Their raucous and electrifying performances are one-of-a-kind and have seen them championed internationally as one of the best live bands on the planet.

Barleylands Broadkasters 17/8/19

At 2pm today the Vintage Sound Blues of The Broadkasters takes to the stage at Blues At Barleylands, Barleylands Social Club, Barleylands Road, Billericay, Essex CM11 2UF. The Broadkasters play Blues the way people used to, some of it low down mean and dirty, some of it grooves, some of it Rocks and boogies the place, all with a Broadkaster twist in the tail. Consisting of Rob Glazebrook - guitar/vocals, Nick "Slim" Hoadley - bass and Nick Simonon - drums, their vintage sound equipment and bespoke instruments help create a sound that is pure 1951 - could be Memphis, could be Chicago, could be Billericay!

Bloodstock Review 16/8/19

"Always one to find a positive, this meant that bands in Sophie's and the Hobgoblin tents suddenly had larger crowds to play to. With a hastily rearranged running order, Cradle of Filth were moved to Sunday but the main stage opened just in time to get Anthrax on in their slot and our American friends did not disappoint, with a blistering set that confirmed them as still up there with the great Metal bands of all time. Now to complete the day, came the band that had a lot of people moaning about: headliners Parkway Drive. Were they big enough? Could they pull it off as a headline act? Haters will always be haters and you can't please everyone and you never will. Parkway are not one of my personal favourites but I stayed around to see what they could do. In fairness it was an excellent set, Visually the best of the weekend and they literally set the stage alight, even with the wind issues they had a full ninety minute pyro set that must have removed their eyebrows, as the flames were blowing back towards the stage and they didn't skip a note. Although I personally don't know any Parkway songs, the 'show' was a treat for the eyes and maybe sent a message to those who doubted their inclusion and they certainly held their own."

Hell Or High Water II 16/8/19

The Magpie Salute release their follow-up studio album on Friday 18th October on Provogue Listen, and their first new song 'In Here', taken from 'High Water II', is today's Video Of The Day. When 'High Water I' was released in August last year, it was the sound of old friends coming together in a union of Rock 'n' Roll, Psychedelic Blues, rasping Americana and late-night storytelling. The band was pulled together by guitarist Rich Robinson, and it continued a storyline he began in the Black Crowes with guitarist Marc Ford and bassist Sven Pipien. Meanwhile, vocalist John Hogg shared Hookah Brown with Robinson, as keyboardist Matt Slocum and drummer Joe Magistro both joined him for solo records and tours over the years. Much of 'High Water II' was written during those early recordings at Dark Horse Studios in Nashville, which is why the album feels like a perfect continuation of its predecessor. Indeed, one of the album tracks, the Country-tinged 'Lost Boy', features vocals and fiddle by Bluegrass superstar and 27-time Grammy Award winner Alison Krauss.

Flying Colors Third Degree 15/8/19

Flying Colors release their brand new album ‘Third Degree’ on Friday 4th October via Music Theories Recordings. Whenever guitarist Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs, ex-Kansas), drummer Mike Portnoy (Winery Dogs, ex-Dream Theater, Transatlantic), keyboardist/vocalist Neal Morse (Transatlantic, ex-Spock’s Beard, and a prolific solo artist in his own right), bassist Dave LaRue (Dixie Dregs, ex-Joe Satriani) and powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Casey McPherson (Alpha Rev, The Sea Within) - are able to conjoin their collective talents, the result is a sweet sonic bouillabaisse that reflects where their inherent mastery of melody intersects with top-shelf Progressive musicianship. ‘Third Degree’ builds upon the genre-bending momentum of 2012’s self-titled 'Flying Colors' and the aural-template ascension of 2014’s 'Second Nature'. From the skittery Psychedelic/Classical turnaround of the lead single 'More' (Video Of The Day) to the Beach Boys-meet-Asia vibe of 'Love Letter' to the deep emotionality of the album-ending, Prog-leaning epic 'Crawl', the nine tracks that comprise 'Third Degree' signify just how much Flying Colors are willing to explore new frontiers.

Crashdiet Rust 15/8/19

Today's Track Of The Day is 'Idiots' by Swedish Sleaze Metal pioneers Crashdïet, who are finally back with a new record. ‘Rust’ is the band’s follow-up to 2013’s ‘The Savage Playground’ and is also their first album to feature their newest addition, vocalist Gabriel Keyes, who joined in 2017. Produced by founder member/guitarist Martin Sweet (aside from two songs produced by Eric Bazilian and Chris Laney), ‘Rust' is mixed by Chris Laney, who previously worked with the group on their acclaimed 2005 debut, ‘Rest In Sleaze’.

Circles Around The Sun Meets Joe Russo 14/8/19

Circles Around The Sun and Joe Russo will release a new four song EP simply entitled, 'Circles Around The Sun Meets Joe Russo' on Friday 18th October. The electrifying collection stems from a completely improvised recording session at Russo's Brooklyn studio earlier this year. The collaboration, which has been kept secret, was mixed by legendary recording engineer Jim Scott whose Grammy Award-winning work includes albums by Tom Petty and Tedeschi Trucks Band,  plus CATS's bassist Dan Horne who has an impressive production/mixing discography in his own right with artists like Cass McCombs, Allah-Las and Mapache. The band have also added eight dates to their US tour in October and December, and their first single from the EP, 'Peace Reprise', is today's Video Of The Day.

Locked And Loaded 13/8/19

The Dead Daisies pride themselves on being an ass-kicking Rock band very much of today who love to celebrate the history of amazing music. In short, the band are fans of Rock and always will be. Every one of the bands albums to date has had at least one cover song on it drawn from great songs from all eras, from the early Blues greats to the classic Rockers and heavy-hitters of later times. Cue their new covers album 'Locked And Loaded', due to be released on Friday 23rd August on Spitfire Music/SPV. It's a collection of covers from a long list of some of their favourite tunes, some bonafide classics - or simply songs that made us all smile, sweat and scream, band and audience alike. These are done Daisies style, with big guitars, big vocals and always a bit of dirt under their Doug Aldrich, Jackie Barnes, Deen Castronovo, John Corabi, Richard Fortus, David Lowy, Marco Mendoza, Dizzy Reed, Jon Stevens and Brian Tichy fingernails, just the way they like it which is why they always love to mix up the setlist and throw them into their live shows. Rock Is Indeed Alive And Well!!!

Thankfully it was a win win situation choosing  from London's Pizza Express Live menu last night. In Soho there was the delectable Chantel McGregor who walked away with our WRC 'Best Blues Performance' award back in 2014. However, in the end we chose Holborn, a mouthwatering combination of 2015 WRC 'One's To Watch' award winners Southbound plus another WRC favourite Connor Selby, who recently opened for The Who at Wembley Stadium no less! Anyway, with a Photo Gallery to come, check out our Video Of The Day.

Gotta Get Home Mutiny 12/8/19

Matt Pearce & The Mutiny recently released a radio edit of the title track of their hugely successful debut album 'Gotta Get Home', ahead of their national November/December tour, as special guests of the Laurence Jones Band, which includes London's Oslo on Saturday 23rd November. Just a day after 'Gotta Get Home’ was released in May through Mutinear Records, it was #1 in the Amazon Best Selling Blues Albums and Hot New Releases charts, and has gone on to glean an impressive array of glowing reviews from the Blues and Rock press. The single has also been play listed by Planet Rock, and as you'd expect, given the energy and musical talent invested in the project, the band's first bold steps into the live arena have been a resounding success, with a series of storming festival appearances, such as at HRH Blues in April 2019, preceded by Winterstorm 2018 and The British Blues Invasion in Moscow in November 2018. The band are also headlining at London's Thousand Island (Upstairs at The Garage) on Thursday 26th September.

Memoir 414 12/8/19

Cranium crunching young Greek Thrash Metal quintet Domination Inc will release their stonking sophomore album ‘Memoir 414’ through Steamhammer/SPV on Friday 23rd August, and their awesome first single ‘The Sickening’ is today's Track Of The Day. It's a milestone album patently at the cutting edge of modern Thrash Metal music, all set to more than make a difference when it blasts into the extreme Metal world’s heady stratosphere. Domination Inc were formed in Athens in 2012 by teenage brothers Alpha and Ares Karatzas (drummer and guitarist, respectively), vocalist Theo Papadopoulos, guitarist Kostas Evangeliou and bassist Jim Kakes. Their debut album, ‘Infants Of Thrash’, released in 2014, won rave reviews in the Greek Metal media and gradually began working its way into the international media’s consciousness while the band honed their razor sharp live set down supporting such heavyweights as Kreator, Annihilator, Behemoth, Decapitated and Sepultura. In 2016 Domination Inc won the Greek ‘Wacken Metal Battle’ finals, securing a main stage appearance at Wacken in Germany in 2017, which ultimately led to the ensemble inking with SPV.

Two Slices Of Pizza Tonight 11/8/19

Decisions, decisions! Yes, it's difficult choosing from London's Pizza Express Live menu tonight. In Holborn there is the mouthwatering combination of 2015 WRC 'One's To Watch' award winners Southbound plus another WRC favourite Connor Selby, who recently opened for The Who at Wembley Stadium no less! Meanwhile, in Soho there is the delectable Chantel McGregor (pictured), who also walked away with our WRC 'Best Blues Performance' award back in 2014. Whatever your choice, rest assured that you will not be disappointed!

Chasin' Me 11/8/19

Today's Video Of The Day is 'Chasin' Me' from US-Australian singer-songwriter Caroline Jones, one of Country's hottest rising stars, which was recently released in Australia and the UK on the Indie label Social Family Records. 'Chasin' Me' follows the release in June of her beautiful acoustic track, 'Country Girl' - a sequel to a track from her yet-to-be-released album 'Bare Feet'. The music video for 'Chasin’ Me' is a continuation of the storyline from 'The Difference' (out in Australia/UK later this year), which opens with a recap of the cross-country car chase that ignited a love story between Jones and co-star Cody Walker, as its tone transitions from a fast-paced Pop-Country rhythm into a slower, wistful sound.  Jones’ guarded walls begin to come away as her persistent suitor follows her through Utah’s Zion National Park and ultimately to the coastal surf-town of Big Sur.

Indestructible Goo Goo Dolls 11/8/19

After 12 million album sales and four Grammy nominations, Goo Goo Dolls remain at the top of their game. That’s very much in evidence on today's Track Of The Day ‘Indestructible’ taken from their forthcoming twelfth album ‘Miracle Pill’, which is out on Friday 13th September. ‘Indestructible’ is brimming with the insistent melodies and driving energy which are the hallmarks of Goo Goo Dolls’ finest work, and opens the album in anthemic style. John Rzeznik’s emotive lyrics offer a reminder that there’s hope in the most challenging of circumstances. It’s a theme that’s prevalent throughout the album. After a 20th anniversary tour in support of their smash hit album ‘Dizzy Up The Girl’, the pair immediately hit the studio late in 2018. Always aiming to stay fresh and moving forward, the result is a collection of songs which delivers musicianship that is as engaging as ever, with lyrics that reflect the current landscape of instant gratification and relief that everyone seems to be seeking.

Ben Poole Half Moon Review 10/8/19

"All the remaining songs in the setlist were taken from Ben’s latest pair of albums, ‘Anytime You Need Me’ (2018) and ‘Time Has Come’ (2016). It made for interesting listening, as the earlier album had been a bit too smooth for my taste, whereas the more recent one was harder hitting and more guitar based. In fact Ben’s guitar solos dominated the proceedings, with the ‘Time Has Come’ songs getting suitably ‘roughed up’ and being all the better for it."

Hoochie Coochie Monarch 10/8/19

From 4pm till 9pm today, Camden Rocks presents another all-day Rock-n-Roll gig featuring Dead Label + Arcane Militia + Mother Vulture + Black Orchids - all live at The Monarch. Give Me The Dark 10/8/19

Vex Red are back and on full form with a brand new EP 'Give Me The Dark', coming out on Friday 4th October, having already released a new single 'Tarantula' at the end of July, taken from the EP, which is today's Track Of The Day. They exploded in 2002 internationally with their debut album ‘Start With A Strong And Persistent Desire’ via Virgin/EMI and built a very loyal following. After a hiatus, the band regrouped with a hunger to create new music and get back on the road. Their 2016 single ‘Burn This Place’ teased more music to come and they played a number of UK shows. They are now back, reborn and reenergised to Rock, including a headline show at Camden Assembly on Friday 13th September.

Reader Of The Runes 9/8/19

With 'Reader Of The Runes – Divination', due to be released on Friday 30th August, Italian Folk Power Metal band ElvenkIng start a completely new chapter in the band’s existence. Founded in 1997, Elvenking have established themselves among the leading acts in Europe when it comes to powerful Metal music with Folk and Pagan influences, that has resulted in nine albums so far. Expect big melodies, folk tunes, lots of acoustic breaks and heavy stuff in their tenth - a concept album that takes an adventurous journey into a mystic world of runes, magic and ancient powers, far away from the visible. Musically, it is definitely an album that breathes freshness while still being totally loyal to the unique sound of the band.

The Spaceships Of Ezekiel 9/8/19

Today's Video Of The Day is Welsh Cosmic Doomers Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard's trippy, new track 'The Spaceships Of Ezekiel’, taken from their latest album ‘Yn Ol I Annwn’, released in March. Welsh for 'Return To The Underworld’, it's the third part of a trilogy of albums from MWWB that began with ‘Noeth Ac Anoeth’ in 2015 and 2017’s ‘Y Proffwyd Dwyll’ (which got them nominated for the Welsh Music Prize in 2017). The eight songs that comprise ‘Yn Ol I Annwn’ sees the band, consisting of Paul Michael Davies, Jessica Ball, Wes Leon, James Carrington and Stuart Sinclair, delve deeper into their collective influences, embracing full on Space Rock, atmospheric film soundtracks, melancholic acoustic interludes, Psychedelia, cosmic moog’s and percussion, moments of introspection and light … and of course, large helpings of Doom. The fat riffs, big hooks and endless space grooves are all present and correct, as the band prepare for two upcoming shows at the ArcTanGent Festival next Thursday 15th August and London's Chaos Theory Festival on 29th February next year.

The New Roses CD Review 8/8/19

"Two fine openers in the form of ‘Soundtrack of My Life’, ’Can’t Stop Rock and Roll’ along with the single ‘Down By the River’ kick-start a journey ideal to crank up on your motorway or highway trip, although there’s a break in pace with ‘The Bullet’, a well-crafted Rock ballad. The pace is picked up once again to reach my personal favourite track, ‘Give & Take’, riffing in at track 10, through to the radio friendly ‘Glory Road’ completing this 13-track album. There’s also two acoustic bonus songs revisiting ‘Down By the River’ and ‘Fighting You Leaving Me’."

Amazing Disgrace 8/8/19

Today's Track Of The Day is Rock ’n' Roll legends The Quireboys new single 'Original Black Eyed Son' - the stunning lead track taken from their latest album, the critically acclaimed 'Amazing Disgrace'. Released via Off Yer Rocka Recordings, the single portrays life as a singer in a Rock ’n’ Roll band – on the road in dodgy hotels and staying up until the sun rises just to do it all over again. Very apt too as Spike, Guy, Paul and Keith are seemingly never off the road – embarking on a worldwide tour that takes in Australia, SE Asia, the USA, Canada, various European and UK dates including a sold-out 35th Anniversary date at London’s Kentish Town Forum on Saturday 14th September.

Oceans will also be touring Europe in early 2020, supporting label mates Equilibrium.

All That Glitters 7/8/19

One of the few downsides to Ramblin' Man Fair this year was that we missed Austin Gold, the only new British band on the Main stage, open proceedings on the Sunday (Video Of The Day). The band consisting of David James Smith (vocals & guitar), Lee Churchill (bass), Russell Hill (Hammond & keyboards) and Chris Ogden (drums), have been building a reputation as one of the best live acts around. Indeed, they released their limited edition new 6-track EP on the Friday of Ramblin' Man, following up their debut album 'Before Dark Clouds' which received amazing reviews from the Rock press, Planet Rock, BBC Radio 2 and many other Rock stations. With this new release and constant touring, the band continue to attract a major following throughout the World.

Inglorious Ramblin' Man Interview 4/8/19

"It may be a different line up, and a slightly different sound, but it’s still all about Nathan James and his incredible voice. Although take nothing away from the other five members – great musicians all. The short set includes a number of radio friendly classics that has the crowd singing along with James, although never able to match his presence, including tracks like 'Taking The Blame', 'Holy Water', and the final 'Until I Die'. The latter being restarted when microphone trouble caused a minor crisis before the placated James finally provided the closing number to the standard that the crowd had come to expect." That was part of our Inglorious Ramblin' Man Fair review from the Sunday, and later at the back of the Main stage we caught up with vocalist Nathan James, lead guitarist Danny Dea Cruz and second guitarist Dan Stevens for an interview here which is also today's Track Of The Day.

Big River's Redemption 4/8/19

Hard Rock band Big River release their long awaited debut album titled ‘Redemption’ via Trouserphonic on Friday 16th August. The album will see the bands own collection of songs that they personally feel captures the personality of Big River. Recorded over a two year period at Ranscombe Studios in Rochester, Kent, under the guidance of producer Jim Riley, these songs show how diverse a band Big River can be, all the while remaining true to their signature sound. The band, consisting of Adam Bartholomew (vocals), Damo Fawsett (guitar), Ant Wellman (bass) and Joe Martin (drums), had written close to 30 songs for this album, however, only nine originally recorded songs remain, with a running time of just over half an hour. 'Redemption' is the sound of a band taking you on a journey through their innermost feelings; the lyrics are heartfelt and tell a story, the music is from deep down inside their souls.  Three years of playing together on the live circuit has given the band their own identity playing honest, no frills, Hard Rock music.

Glitter Machine Take The Pain 4/8/19

Glitter Machine dropped their second single 'Take The Pain' from their debut album, 'Hanging Out For Fame', on Friday, which is today's Video Of The Day. Having first emerged in 2018, this quartet stuck out from the off. Over the last couple of years, the band comprising of vocalist and guitarist John McKeown, bass player Rik Hornby, drummer Paul Stone and guitarist Dominic McGuiness, have begun to have a real impact upon the music industry. 'Take The Pain' is a true testament to the band’s effortless ability to write deep meaningful compelling songs. The single showcases McKeown’'s raw and gritty vocals which sets Glitter Machine apart. They will be ready to mix it all up again when they go back into the studio later this year to record their second album; a musical treat well worth waiting for as  they look forward to a continually brighter future.

Elles Bailey Ramblin' Man Interview 3/8/19

In fact 'Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin’ Stones' release their third album on Strawberry Moon Records on Friday 13th September, produced by Sadler Vaden, guitarist for Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, which received rave reviews when it was released in the aforementioned USA last year. The album dovetails her nationwide UK Roadstars tour with Piston and Gorilla Riot in October, which stops off at London's Islington O2 Academy 2 on Friday 11th. The 10-track self-released album was recorded in Nashville, and is a fresh take on Wicklund's musical influences drawn from 60's, 70's and 80's guitar-driven Rock.

Allman Betts Ramblin' Man Interview 1/8/19

"Back on the Outlaw stage was one of the best sets of the day - courtesy of The Allman Betts Band. Led by Devon Allman, son of founding Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and singer, Gregg Allman, and Duane Betts, son of founding Allman Brothers Band guitarist and singer, Dickey Betts, the band play the sort of Country Rock that gave the festival (sorry, fair...) its name. And they are all truly chips off the old block. Mmmm, chips..... The line up is awash with talent with three guitarists, two percussionists, keys and bass.  With assorted guitars played through Fender amps, the distinctive Southern slide sound was divine. As well as covering some well known family classics, and some of their own new material, they covered 'Purple Rain' and brought on Black Stone Cherry's Ben Wells for one helluva Southern Blues rock jam. I could have stayed and watched them all day. Quite mesmerising." That was our Allman Betts Band Ramblin' Man Fair review from the Saturday, and later at the back of the Main stage we caught up with Devon Allman, Duane Betts and Berry Oakley for an interview here which is also today's Track Of The Day. Sadly, this Monday, Devon underwent appendectomy surgery and the guys had to cancel their final three UK and European concerts including London's Shepherd's Bush Empire this coming Saturday 3rd August. We wish Devon a speedy recovery.

Roxy Blue Want Some 1/8/19

With their legendary debut album, ‘Want Some’, having become a classic of the early 90’s Hard Rock scene, Memphis, Tennessee Hard Rockers Roxy Blue are back next Friday 9th August with their first album of new material in 27 years (see today's Video Of The Day). Original members Todd Poole (vocals), Josh Weil (bass) and Scotty Trammell (drums) are now joined by guitarist Jeffrey Wade Caughron, after Sid ‘Boogie’ Fletcher left the music business for a successful career in dentistry. Formed in 1989, Roxy Blue played every gig they could to get themselves noticed in the Memphis scene. Crammed together in a studio apartment above Cotton Row Studios in the city, they were constantly writing and recording songs and living a 24-hour Rock 'n' Roll lifestyle many miles away from the Sunset Strip of Los Angeles. Swiftly selling out club shows and creating a buzz, legendary A&R guru Tom Zutaut flew the band to LA to sign them, with Guns N’ Roses producer Mike Clink chosen to produce their debut album. Clink and Roxy Blue clicked and the result was 1992’s ‘Want Some’.
