Ash Wilson Photo Gallery 31/8/17

Tuesday Night Music Club host Richard Dunning nicely summed up everyone's reaction to Ash Wilson's gig at The Comrades Club in Coulsdon on Tuesday night. "Four of the most talented, hard working individuals we've had the pleasure to know took to our stage and to say that they blew us away would be a massive understatement. Yes that magic took over at The TNMC again as spectators and performers gelled into one. When the audience rise to their feet at the end of both sets it only confirms that we've just experienced something very special." We couldn't have put it better ourselves Rich - and just to complement a truly awesome gig - check out a few photos from the night here

Steve Hill - New Album & Tour 31/8/17

Steve Hill’s album 'Solo Recordings: Volume 3' will be released in the UK on his independent “No Label Records” on Friday 6th October. His stunning new single 'Dangerous' is today's Vid Of The Day and he will undertake a 27-date UK tour when he supports Wishbone Ash in October and November. Steve hails from Montreal, Canada, and he’s a multi-award winning Blues Rock guitarist and singer-songwriter who’s gearing up for world domination. He’s literally a one-man band guitar machine and does it all (by himself) with no overdubs or tapes. How can one musician sound like three?  Well he plays guitar, kick drum and sings at the same time and gets the bass notes by feeding three of his strings through an Octaver guitar pedal that’s hooked up to a bass amp.

Crypt Of The Wizard 31/8/17

Everyone's favourite Berlin based Psych-Rockers Kadavar have announced an album launch and signing at East London's exciting new Metal haven record store Crypt Of The Wizard, 324C Hackney Rd, London E2 7AX. Friday 29th September sees the release of their highly anticipated fourth album 'Rough Times' and  the band will be signing copies of the new album and raising a glass in-store with fans. The party kicks off at 5.30pm and Crypt Of The Wizard have teamed up with Kraken Rum to make sure everyone is suitably lubricated; so don't miss out on a free drink and hear the album played in full with the trio! Kadavar also play a headline show at London's The Dome the following night and then the riff-lords will also bring the fuzz to the North when they play Sheffield's HRH Doom Vs Stoner festival the following day. Anyway, check out today's Track Of The Day for their official music video for 'Die Baby Die'.

Ash's Comrades! 30/8/17

A well overdue one off our WRC bucket list was our very first visit to the Tuesday Night Music Club at the Comrades Club in Coulsdon last night to see Lincolnshire's very own Bluesman Ash Wilson (Vid Of The Day). We had seen the very impressive Ash supporting both Dan Patlansky and Sari Schorr earlier this year - so this was a no-brainer given that the the ex-Sean Webster Band guitarist on the night pulled together a band of musicians to die for. Step forward both Roger Inness (ex-Chaka Khan and Laurence Jones to name but a few) plus the keys of King King's Bob Fridzema who added that extra dimension to proceedings given that on the previous two occasions Ash's band were a three-piece. Indeed both Innes and Fridzema had appeared on Wilson's latest album 'Broken Machine' - of which understandably most of this set was drawn from - but just to add to the deliciousness of the evening - the quartet was completed by none other than King King's drummer and producer Wayne Proctor. Wow - what a gig!

Blues On The Radio Back 30/8/17

On the subject of the Tuesday Night Music Club, and in particular mein host Richard Dunning, today's Track Of The Day sees the return of Rich's Blues On The Radio Podcast. So take a clutch of new releases, some IBBA albums of the month, the participants in the UK Blues Challenge and some gig news - stir it all up and you have an hour filled with music from Doug Macleod, Dave Ferra, LaVendore Rogue, Elles Bailey, Kris Barras (pictured), Jinder, Ash Wilson, Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion, King King, Watermelon Slim, Rainbreakers and Mike Brookfield.

What Was Your First Metal Memory? 30/8/17

For a bit of fun - check out the poster alongside to work out your first Metal memory! And talking of Metal - after their extensive tour with Children Of Bodom and a spot at Bloodstock, the young rockers from Forever Still, caught their breath and dedicated their time to the writing of several new songs. Just like they already did for their debut, singer Maja Shiningand multi-instrumentalist Mikkel Haastrup once again work closely together for the songwriting process to create the successor of 'Tied Down', which was recently nominated for 'best debut' at the German Metal Hammer Awards - with the ceremony taking place on Friday 15th September in Berlin! Their second full-length release will drop in early 2018 and promises to stir up the Heavy Rock scene once more.

Ash Wilson At TNMC Tonite! 29/8/17

"The Blues shuffle of 'Peace And Love', and it's sad story of the blues of desperation, was followed by the funky ‘Out of Time’, before Ash, who had a good line in patter by the way, introduced ‘Words Of A Woman’ - a song he wrote after innocently witnessing a stranger’s marriage in meltdown. With an undoubted Bonamassa influence, this was a great ballad with strong lyrics and an excellent guitar solo from Wilson - definitely the stand out track for mine from the set." That was part of our take on Ash Wilson when we last saw him supporting Dan Patlansky at the O2 Academy, Islington. Tonight at 8.30pm, you can check out Ash headlining the Tuesday Night Music Club, The Comrades Club, 194 Brighton Rd, Coulsdon, Greater London CR5 2NF.

Consisting of singer Jacoby Shaddix, guitarist Jerry Horton, bassist Tobin Esperance and drummer Tony Palermo, Papa Roach have also just released an official video for ‘Periscope’, the moody ballad featuring singer/songwriter Skylar Grey which is today's Vid Of The Day.

Route 66 Takes A Break 27/8/17

The good news is that Route 66 host Rory Auskerry has been nominated for Male Presenter Of The Year in the 2017 Community Radio Awards. The bad news is that tonight's show here at 6pm is his last as our mate Rory (pictured second right with us at a Wembley ZZ Top gig in June 2015) has decided, after giving it a huge amount of careful thought, to take a long term break from presenting Route 66. We have a sneaking feeling that it has something to do with Rory recently getting his pilot's licence but we're sure you would all join in with us on thanking him for his awesome Rockin' Jockin' show over recent years!

Solid Gold 27/8/17

The Darkness recently released their expletive-drenched new single ‘Solid Gold’ via Cooking Vinyl, accompanied by a video of the self-proclaimed Rock legends performing in a huge aircraft hanger amongst a mass of Glam-Rock lighting and Marshall speaker stacks - which is today's Vid Of The Day. An absolute monster of a Rock song, ‘Solid Gold’ takes no prisoners whatsoever, taking direct aim at the music industry and addressing record companies, egos and the insincerity that comes with it. It will make uncomfortable listening for A&R men everywhere… 'Solid Gold’ is the latest single to be taken from The Darkness’ forthcoming album 'Pinewood Smile', out on Friday 6th October, and to  celebrate its release, they will be touring extensively at the end of this year playing 17 dates in the UK throughout November and December including a headline show at London’s Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on Sunday 10th December.

Black To Blues 27/8/17

Kentucky rockers Black Stone Cherry (Track Of The Day) release their long time coming Blues EP, ‘Black To Blues’ which is out on Mascot Records on Friday 29th September. Before their five critically acclaimed albums, the 12,000-cap arena shows, topping the UK charts, and sharing the stage with superstars like Def Leppard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company  and Alter Bridge - the guys in the Kentucky-based active Rock powerhouse were just teenagers finding their way jamming on the Blues. On the heels of their well-received 'Kentucky’ album, the quartet issues a masterful 6-song EP, a collection of Blues classics and obscurities reimagined with the meaty moxie of classic Black Stone Cherry.

Mollie Marriott CD Review 26/8/17

"The mark of any classic album is its timeless and enduring quality, a lasting resonance which transcends time and space. An album that is relevant today needs to be relevant tomorrow and when discovered many years down the line. It must be fresh and vibrant as the first day it was aired. Each listen will bring out other subtle elements perhaps not heard before to further emphasize the shear quality of the recordings. I strongly believe Mollie's debut album meets these criteria. It is definitely one for the record collection that will be listened to time and time again. It is nothing short of brilliant!"

Holy Doley 26/8/17

A beautiful Summer's Thursday afternoon/evening in the centre of London was rounded off at the iconic 100 Club by a keyboard player who can pump, pamper and occasionally pound the most unbelievable sounds from a keyboard: sounds that are intense, ferocious and sometimes transcendent. Indeed on our way to the venue, we came across a busker (pictured), whose electric guitar playing also stopped us in our tracks as he knocked out awesome covers of 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' and 'Sultans Of Swing'.  Anyway, we first came across Lachy Doley playing on Glenn Hughes' latest awesome CD 'Resonate'. Dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of the Hammond Organ, Doley's Group  were a unique power trio consisting of bass, drums and Doley on vocals plus his incredibly rare 70 stringed Hohner D6 Whammy Clavinet. Anyway, check out a few pics from the gig in our photo gallery here.

(how to live) As Ghosts 26/8/17

10 Years (Video Of The Day) return with the new studio album ‘(how to live) As Ghosts', and welcomes back band members Brian Vodinh (guitar/drums) and Matt Wantland (guitar). The band’s eighth studio album was produced by Grammy Award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Deftones, KoRn, Mastodon) and will be released on Friday 27th October via Mascot Records. It might be the band's 8th album, but, to them, it feels like a new start. Sometimes when band members reunite, it's as if no time has passed and nothing has changed. That couldn't be further from the truth for 10 Years. Vodinh and Wantland returned to the Knoxville, Tennessee Alt-Metal/Post-Grunge band  burst through their comfort zones to create something new. Something better. Something career-defining.

Doley Double Whammy 25/8/17

We first came across Lachy Doley playing on Glenn Hughes' latest awesome CD 'Resonate', a player who can pump, pamper and occasionally pound the most unbelievable sounds from a keyboard: sounds that are intense, ferocious and sometimes transcendent. Dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of the Hammond Organ, all roads led last night to London's iconic 100 Club and Doley's Group who are a unique power trio consisting of bass, drums, Doley on the Hammond and the incredibly rare 70 stringed Hohner D6 Whammy Clavinet, whilst all the while Lachy’s vocal screamed with pain and passion. With more pics and possibly a review to come - check out today's Vid Of The Day.

Okey Doley 24/8/17

Dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of the Hammond Organ, all roads tonight lead to London's 100 Club and Lachy Doley - the most celebrated Blues Soul Rock Organ Player in the world today. We first came across Lachy playing on Glenn Hughes' latest awesome CD 'Resonate', a player who can pump, pamper and occasionally pound the most unbelievable sounds from a keyboard: sounds that are intense, ferocious and sometimes transcendent. Doley's Group are a unique and refreshing sound in Blues today. A power trio consisting of bass, drums, Doley on the Hammond and the incredibly rare 70 stringed Hohner D6 Whammy Clavinet. I Want More 24/8/17

High-octane, Hard-Rockers Go Primitive have released the video for their new single ‘I Want More’ - today's Video Of The Day. It premiered on Metal Hammer last week and features an ominous figure hooded and bound on a chair in a Houdini-esque struggle to escape, representing the songs themes of "breaking through mental barriers and obstacles to get what you want from life”. The band channel a Hard Rock sound with big hooks, riffs and solos fuelled with attitude and drive. They have worked with respected Rock/Metal/Pop producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine, Funeral For A Friend, Motorhead) on the new track as well as their upcoming debut album 'Choices' which is due early next year. They’ve enjoyed support from the likes of Radio 1, Kerrang! Radio and Scuzz TV and have shared stages with some top bands such as Mallory Knox, Fort Hope, Lonely The Brave, Terrorvision and more - they even played to a packed out tent at Glastonbury Festival last year. And our very own Mother will be covering London's Surya leg of their UK tour with Seasons and Scout Killers this coming Friday night.

Route 66 - End Of The Road 24/8/17

All of us here at Wrinkly Towers were gutted to learn that this coming Sunday's Route 66 show - episode 238 - will be the last show. Apparently, our mate and host Rory Auskerry, after giving it a huge amount of careful thought, has decided to take a long term break from presenting Route 66. The good news is that Rory has dedicated both his penultimate show (today's Track Of The Day) and the very last to playing some of his favourite tracks which have been released during the years he's been on air, as well as some of the classic tracks he loves the most. So sit back and listen to some awesome music as usual including tracks from Dan Patlansky (pictured) Jimmy Barnes featuring Diesel, Johnny Copeland, Queen, The Brew and more.

Out Of The Shadows 23/8/17

Throw into the mix an interesting choice of covers - Miley Cyrus' “'Wrecking Ball”' and Chris de Burghs’' “'Don’'t Pay the Ferryman”' - and you have a diverse album full of catchy choruses, soaring vocals and raucous riffs. The core of the band is vocalist Lucie Hölzlová, with guitarist Ryan Atkins and bassist/producer Rupert Withers. Together they have penned all the original songs on the album.

Exile & Grace Review 19/8/17

"To coincide with their (now delayed) UK Tour in October, King King release their fourth studio album 'Exile & Grace' on Friday 6th October, looking to increase their already burgeoning reputation as a live band with a collection of radio friendly Blues/Rock tunes that should see them get the airplay and recognition their performances on the road so richly deserve. Although still present, the more Bluesy numbers have been put slightly on the back burner, to make way for sing a long choruses and big guitars, which should appeal to fans of Thunder and FM to name but two."

Scorpion Child RMF Interview 15/8/17

In the last of our Ramblin' Man Fair Wrinklycast interviews here, we had a nice chat with AJ Vincent from Austin, Texas - heavy keys player in Heavy - Acid Rockers Scorpion Child, who were playing The Grooverider stage two hours later on the Saturday. We first saw Scorpion Child supporting Crobot at Camden's Underworld in November 2015 (pictured) and caught up with AJ as to what has happened since then including their latest album 'Acid Roulette' plus also his new solo album 'Electric Kind of Love'.

Ramblin' Man Fair - Day 3 Review 15/8/17

"ZZ Top were one of the first proponents of the video promo age, however unlike the stage set up at Wembley there were no giant screens either side of the miserable looking Frank Beard's (the one without the beard) huge drum kit in the middle, but there were the huge screens either side of the stage. However, these guys proved on the night that they do not need any props other than their beards and their cheap sunglasses! To be fair their choreography is so subtle but cool and complements their unique Rock delivery. ‘Got Me Under Pressure’, Waitin’ For The Bus’ and ‘Jesus Left Chicago’ got everyone into the groove before their first big hitter of the evening - ‘Gimme All Your Lovin’ - was delivered sadly without that shiny car and pretty girls in the background."

Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics RMF Interview 14/8/17

In our penultimate Ramblin' Man Fair Wrinklycast interview here, step forward former Heaven's Basement vocalist and the nattily dressed Aaron Buchanan with his equally stylish sister Laurie both from Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics who played the Rising Stage on the Saturday. We had seen Aaron and Heaven's Basement supporting Aerosmith at Clapham's Calling Festival just over three year's ago and in a really frank discussion Aaron talks about life after Heaven's Basement how ABATCC got together and their new album 'The Man With Stars On His Knees'.

Eric Gales To Return To UK 14/8/17

Following his long awaited first UK solo tour in May (pictured) and an incredible guest slot with Supersonic Blues Machine at this years Ramblin' Man Fair, world renowned Blues guitarist Eric Gales will be returning to the UK and Ireland this October/November. Released on 24th February earlier this year, Gales' fourth album Middle of the Road' on the Provogue/Mascot label Group received rave reviews and it sees him at his most expressive yet. It is a deeply personal and reflective record that echoes where he is in his life right now and he opens himself up and allows himself the chance to really flourish.

Stronger Together 14/8/17

American Blues star Jonny Lang has released another track 'Stronger Together' (today's Vid Of The Day) from his upcoming album 'Signs', out on Friday 25th August via Provogue/Mascot Label Group. Anyone who originally discovered Jonny Lang through his searing instrumental work will revel in the huge guitar tones and go for broke solos on 'Signs', while those who have appreciated his growth as an honest and passionate songwriter will find that honesty and passion unabated. Though he long ago left Blues purism behind, Lang has never abandoned its spirit of universal catharsis through the relating of personal trials. 'Signs' reaffirms his commitment to the Blues and the guitar without sacrificing the modern approach that has made him such a singular artist.

Xander & The Peace Pirates RMF Interview 13/8/17

Probably the most surreal interview of the Ramblin' Man Fair weekend took place with Liverpool's Xander And The Peace Pirates. Unbelievably, for some reason, this really great bunch of guys did not have access to the media area and we ended up doing the interview outside with Keith Xander (lead guitar/vocals, Stuart Xander (guitars), Mike Gay (slide guitar, guitar/vocals), Joel Goldberg (bass) and Adam Goldberg (drums) - where we found out that they had already played The Rising Stage despite the RMF itinerary saying it was Sunday. Would you believe also believe the guys follow up interview was with Nicky Horne, no less, and our valiant attempt to locate Nicky in the media area for XATPP was unfortunately unsuccessful (you couldn't make it up). Anyway, listen to today's Wrinklycast Track Of The Day here where the former Cavern residents discuss their Soul, Blues and Rock influences plus their debut album '11:11'.

End Of Days 13/8/17

The Other from Cologne, Germany, is considered by many to be Europe’s most famous HorrorPunk-Band, with a history of six successfull albums and gigs at some of the biggest Alternative-Festivals in Europe.  So if you like Horror-Goth at its best, 'End Of Days' (today's Vid Of The Day) is their first single taken from the upcoming album 'Casket Case', which will be released on Friday 20th October via Drakkar Records. The album is available for preorder in all download stores and once preordered 'End Of Days' will be available as instant download.

Nothing Left 13/8/17

And talking of Punk - Bristol-based Pop Punks Highlives have released their brand new single ‘Nothing Left’, which premiered in the UK last Thursday with Punktastic and New Noise Magazine in the US. The track bounces with energetic drums and high-octane lead guitar phrases that shimmer and glare in equal measure. The single follows their EP 'Misguided Youth', released in 2015 to great reviews. Consequently, the band have garnered interest and support from the likes of Kerrang!, Rock Sound, Scuzz TV and more for their previous singles ‘Better Days’ and ‘Wake Me Up’. The band – comprising of Liam Edwards (vocals), Ben Lucas (guitar/vocals), Jordan Tomkins (guitar/vocals), James Holt (bass) and Steve Parks (drums) – have toured extensively across the UK, building a dedicated fan base, and in addition to headline shows they have shared the stage with the likes of Neck Deep, As It Is, Boston Manor and many more. Highlives are still currently gigging around the UK with more dates to be announced as the year progresses.

Aaron Keylock RMF Interview 12/8/17

With just three more Ramblin' Man Fair interviews to come plus a Sunday review, today's Track Of The Day is  our quick chat with teenage guitar sensation Aaron Keylock before he was due to grace the Four Roses Bourbon Blues Stage later that Sunday afternoon. The last time we interviewed Aaron was last December, so in our Wrinklycast catch up interview here we discuss  the recent release of  his critically acclaimed debut album 'Cut Against The Grain', further album and festival plans plus which particular Ramblin' Man artists he was looking forward to seeing later that afternoon.

The Great Unknown 12/8/17

Friday 22nd September sees the UK release of the long awaited new studio album 'Into The Great Unknown' from the celebrated Swedish Rock band H.E.A.T via earMUSIC. After one and a half years of intense song-writing, with guitarist Dave Dalone (aka Sky Davis) back in the mix, the band went on a questionable trip to record an album in Thailand, once again with Swedish Grammy award-winning producer Tobias Lindell. With 10 top songs in their cannon, H.E.A.T entered the heavenly Karma Sound studios in the outskirts of Bangkok to record what would become the fifth studio album. Once again the band continue the musical landscape with an innovative, highly explosive and refreshing Melodic Rock sound and an unforgettable collection of fantastic new songs.

Bigfoot 12/8/17

Bigfoot's self-titled debut album is out on Friday 13th October via Frontiers. Co-produced by the band with Justin Richards (who also mixed the record), it consists of eleven songs including today's Vid Of The Day 'The Fear'. They are a Hard Rock band from Wigan who burst onto the scene in the spring of 2014. With a wide range of influences from The Eagles through to Pantera, the group boasts the powerful vocals of Antony Ellis, dual lead guitars from Sam Millar and Mick McCullagh, plus the thunderous rhythm section of bassist Matt Avery and drummer Tom Aspinall. Having toured constantly around the UK and performed at festivals including Breakout, Bloodstock, Hard Rock Hell, Steelhouse and more, the quintet have built themselves a loyal grassroots following in their home territory. Two successful self-released EP’s also drew the attention of the Naples based Rock powerhouse Frontiers Music Srl, who signed them to their roster as fast as they could!

Sitting Ducks 11/8/17

Macclesfield rockers The Virginmarys will release their new EP 'Sitting Ducks' on Friday 22nd September. A collection of four new songs including 'Sweet Loretta' (today's Vid Of The Day), this self-produced release carries the mantra of 'Peace, Love, Truth, Music'. The Virginmarys exploded onto the Rock music scene in 2013 with their album 'King of Conflict', and were dubbed the buzz band of SXSW, received major support from US Active Rock and Alternative radio, and press acclaim from Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, USA Today and more. The band followed up with 2016’'s 'Divides' which was hailed by Apple Music, Spotify, Yahoo! Music and more. The Virginmarys have brought their highly charged live show to tours throughout the US, Europe, and Japan, supporting artists including Queens of the Stone Age, Shinedown, Buckcherry, Eagles of Deathmetal, Crobot, and hitting huge festivals including Reading & Leeds, Download, Sonisphere, Isle of Wight Festival and more.

Bad Touch RMF Interview 10/8/17

We first interviewed Bad Touch last December in the cold outside the Dome in Tufnell Park (pictured) - the night of the launch of their latest album 'Truth Be Told' when they supported Whiskey Myers. In fact, the last time we saw their Southern boogie influences in the great tradition of Black Crowes, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin was at London's Borderline this April after the shock departure of guitarist Rob Glendinning who had been replaced by Harry Slater. Imagine our surprise as Michael Bailey (bass guitar), Daniel Seekings (guitars/backing vocals), Stevie (Alan? Alan? Alan?) Westwood (vocals) and George Drewry (drums) filed into our Ramblin' Man Fair interview tent recently with Rob in tow! Anyway, listen to today's Wrinklycast Track Of The Day for the reason Rob had returned, plus news on their October tour with The Kentucky Headhunters and their November headline tour with Mollie Marriott.

Revenge Of Rock And Roll 10/8/17

'Revenge of Rock and Roll' due to be released on Friday 29th September finds Paris-based Carousel Vertigo – three native French rockers and an American – doing what this band does best and loves the most, regardless of opinions or passing phases, because Hard Rock truly is timeless and ever-present. The lyrical reach of the songs ranges from the rallying call of the title track to, on ‘Don’t Take It To Heart’, a hometown point of view on the terrorist attacks in Paris on 13th November 2015. The nucleus of the band, Gibson Guitars-endorsed Parisian Vincent Martinez and New Jersey son Jansen Press, formed Carousel Vertigo purely out of a shared love of the classic Rock music they both revelled and could play so well. Garry Tallent, long-serving bass player with Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, also happily guested for ‘a bottle of Bourgogne’ on one of the album’s ten tracks. Check out today's Video Of The Day - their first single from the album single 'No More Hesitatin’.

Good Old Boys At Eel Pie Tonight 10/8/17

The Good Old Boys, who are at The Eel Pie Club, The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ tonight, were originally formed as a vehicle to play live Rock 'n' Roll whenever the members were free from touring with their own bands. The astounding response they received has led them to become a successful band in their own right and as a result the combined talents of Alan Barratt, Nick Simper, Peter Parks, Simon Bishop and Richard Hudson provide a perfect blend for the 50's 60's Rock 'n' Roll/R&B enthusiast. Doors open at 8.30pm with music from 9-11pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted admission.

The Struts Upgrade London Show 9/8/17

Due to overwhelming demand, The Struts’ exclusive UK headline show on Monday 18th September – originally announced for The Garage, Highbury – will now be at Camden’s Electric Ballroom. Already proving to be the hottest ticket in town, the flamboyant four-piece stride back across the Atlantic to play in London in celebration of their brand new single ‘One Night Only’ (Vid Of The Day) ahead of their massive US tour with the Foo Fighters in October. The recently-released lyric video captures the band in true Rock ’n’ Roll style, and is the perfect taster for their hugely anticipated second album, due next year, which is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2016 debut 'Everybody Wants'.

Route 66 Heroes 9/8/17

Today's Route 66 Track Of The Day includes new music from Mick Jagger and Kenny Wayne Shepherd (pictured) plus Motorhead's great cover of David Bowie's 'Heroes'. Host Rory Auskerry also plays classic tracks from Jethro Tull and Mark Knopfler.

The White Buffalo Announces European Dates 9/8/17

The White Buffalo recently announced a run of UK and German dates for April 2018. A.k.a. songwriter Jake Smith, The White Buffalo last toured Europe in 2016 which included playing to a sold out Shepherd’s Bush Empire to an ecstatic crowd and a raucous set at the Ramblin’ Man Fair.  Smith recently revealed details of his sixth full-length album 'Darkest Darks, Lightest Lights' to be released on Friday 13th October via Earache Records.

ROTR Ramblin' Man Fair Special 8/8/17

After apparently having one of the best times at Ramblin' Man Fair recently, Bob and Jules (yes we did see them there) give you a taste today of some of the bands that performed at Mote Park in Maidstone. Therefore today's Rock On The Ridge Track Of The Day includes tracks from Massive, Trucker Diablo, Blindstone, Bad Touch, Blues Pills, Monster Truck, Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics, Scorpion Child, Lionize, Black Country Communion, Xander and the Peace Pirates (on their Introducing Stage), Steve Harris's British Lion, Jack J Hutchinson (pictured), Blackwater Conspiracy and ZZ Top - plus AJ's backstage interview with Dirty Thrills!

Havoc In Oslo 8/8/17

On 6th February 2016, Norwegian Prog Metallers Circus Maximus (Video Of The Day) celebrated the release of their fourth studio album, 'Havoc' with a pace out show at the Rockefeller Club in Oslo with a stunning live production that involved pyro, sparks (lite rally) and a massive light rig. The band, consisting of Michael Eriksen - vocals, Mats Haugen - guitars, Glen Møllen - bass, Truls Haugen - drums and Lasse Finbråten - keyboards,  wanted to make this show one of the most memorable performances in Circus Maximus' history and then to share this night with the world. So, it was decided to capture the entire night with multiple high definition cameras for a release on both Blu-Ray and DVD as well as an audio component. Ever since the band released 'Live In Japan' via YouTube, they have been eager to make a proper live release in a physical format. “'Havoc Live in Oslo”', released last Friday, is a powerful statement from a band at the top of their game!

God Bless America 8/8/17

The Mighty Bosscats are currently working on their tenth album - 'God Bless America' -  a celebration of six old songs which have matured over time plus eleven newbies written by Richard Townend. As usual with TMB the song subject matter varies and includes the USA shenanigans of 8th November last year, the ferocious volume of celebrity deaths in 2016, preachers, emotions and much much more. It's an album drenched with Americana music and  includes Allan Kelly making a return on beautiful pedal steel, Greg Camburn offering some delicious sax, Phil Wilson has dropped on to double bass for the majority of the tracks and their newest friend, Phil Ockelford on guitar, has provided some great acoustic rhythm to the band sound and great backing vocals. He'll also be joining them for a few future gigs. It's going to be one cool album!

Introducing ... Black Market Aftermath 7/8/17

Black Market Aftermath sprouted from the mind of Francesco D’Andrea, Film & TV Composer in the daytime, guitarist and songwriter at night. We first saw BMA supporting Massive at The Proud in Camden in June this year (pictured) and their album 'Come Naked' is the band's first musical experiment. Before founding his current project with Black Market Aftermath, Francesco's music has been featured in many award winning shows and movies, such as “Dr. House”, “The Big Bang Theory”, “Mad Men”, “Spaghetti Story”, “Glee”, “How I Met Your Mother” and many more.  The boxer punching hard the other one on their album cover is Francesco's grandfather, who was a professional and very good boxer, and to whom the album is dedicated. Anyway, check out our 'Introducing ...' page here and today's Track Of The Day!

I Need Someone 7/8/17

And talking of our 'Introducing .....' feature, we first introduced you to The Pieces Of Mind in February 2015 when the band celebrated their 50th anniversary with a great new album of original stuff entitled 'Born At The Bosco'. Since then they were featured in June 2016 on BBC Four’s "The UK’s Best Part-Time Band". So following our August WRC Bulletin we were delighted to get a heads up from our mate and guitarist Vic Johnson that not only did the band have an amazing first Brentwood Festival (pictured) supporting Midge Ure, Heaven 17 and Go West in mid-July, but also their song 'I Need Someone' is getting extensive airplay on Union Jack - a new national dab station!

It's A Blues World 7/8/17

This week's Black On Blues Track Of The Day is another popular Blues women special featuring Papermoon Gypsys, Mama SpanX, Diana Rein, Annee 2Cu, Toriah Fontaine and Bridget Kelly Band.

Ramblin' Man Fair - Day 2 Review 6/8/17

"The funky but hard rockin' title track from his 2005 release 'Soul Mover' made way for Black Country Communion's masterpiece 'Black Country' which was delivered in such style by Hughes, Andersen and Engborg - that not only can't the new album come soon enough (with indeed Hughes announcing "Friday 22nd September" in his intro) but neither can BCC's early January 2018 UK tour as well! Brilliant. Naturally, it had to be Deep Purple's 'Burn' to wrap up proceedings on an afternoon where the sopping crowd had witnessed a Rock icon doing what he does best. Stand out of the day so far."

It Came Out Of Greenwich! 6/8/17

Following stand out performances at both Camden Rocks in June and more recently at Ramblin' Man Fair last Sunday, Big Boy Bloater & The Limits returned to a more intimate venue last night - namely The Pelton Arms in Greenwich, London. As expected, this awesome R&B and Blues band, now a three-piece without keyboards, got up close and personal and served up a night to remember. Anyway, check out today's very dark (literally) Vid Of The Day - well worth a listen!

(She Don't) Gimme No Lovin 5/8/17

Taken from King King's forthcoming third studio album 'Exile & Grace', due to be released on Friday 6th October, their lead single '(She Don't) Gimme No Lovin' (today's Vid Of The Day) sees the boys put their Blues leanings to one side in favour of a catchy, Soft Rock, radio friendly song. Obviously hoping for more airplay to boost interest for their October UK tour,  '(She Don't) Gimme No Lovin' would be perfectly at home on any FM or Thunder album, perhaps understandable as they were tour partners with the latter in 2016. Presumably the Blues will return on the new album, and with a well deserved reputation for being one of the must see live bands, this could be the song to find them new mainstream success and add to their already growing fan base.

In addition to their recent successful "Back To The Roots" tour, Dirkschneider release 'Live – Back To The Roots - Accepted!' today (USA Friday 18th August) as a DVD/2CD. After putting out the live double CD last year, fans were asking for a visual output, so finally, in December 2016, the show in Brno, Czech Republic, was recorded for that purpose. Besides many classics from Udo Dirkschneider's Accept era, there's a cover version of Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' as bonus track on the CD and Vinyl! From October, Dirkschneider will tour again with an almost completely new setlist.

Ramblin' Man Fair - Blues Pills Review 3/8/17

"The dazzling Tony Joe White song 'Elements & Things' was up next, the first cover of the set and the closing track on their second studio album, a real tour de force. Elin and the boys rip into this one, a set favourite and mainstay for the last few years. Fifth song in was the blazing 'You Gotta Try', one of the many highlights from their second studio album. A pounding heavy bass groove keeps this one moving along with wild exuberant dancing from Elin. A rumbling bass line introduces 'High Class Woman', the lead song on their debut album, also released as a single in 2014 - a superlative song, with gutsy vocals from Elin and some tasty guitar work from Dorrian."
