Barclaycard BST - "That'll Do Nicely Sir!" 30 June 2015

Before ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’, which was released as a single in 1971, Townshend paid tribute to the band’s late bassist John Entwistle, who died of a heart attack in 2002, and drummer Keith Moon, who died of a drug overdose in 1978. Introducing bassist Pino Palladino, Townshend said: “Replacing John Entwistle was a hard job, as he had such a unique style. But this guy is probably the best bass player in the world today.” Introducing Zak Starkey, the former Oasis drummer who is the son of  Ringo Starr, Townshend said: “You’ll have seen pictures of Keith Moon on the big screen behind us tonight. When I see them behind me, I miss him terribly. But before Keith went, he gave this guy a drum kit, so in a way Zak studied at the feet of the wanker.” Hilarious!!

Read the rest of Wrinkly The Silver's insightful take on BST here, complemented by more pics here plus Rory Auskerry's latest Route 66 show covering The Who, ZZ Top, Thunder and BluesRockfest which is today's Track of the Day!

"I'm gonna play @68_75 on the show tonight from 6pm BST. A great suggestion by @WRINKLYCLUB. Tune in via http://pureradio.org.uk  #Rock #Blues". Yes that was Rory Auskerry's  tweet yesterday evening in advance of his Route 66 show! Respect to Rory for including some of the bands we suggested last Wednesday including 68-75 (our Track Of The Day) plus Montrose's 'Space Station Number 5' and of course the bands we saw at Wembley (see Rory's selfie) i.e. Thunder and ZZ Top. Watch out for the podcast later this week which will be our Track of The Day!

BST Photo Gallery Now Available! 28 June 2015

No that's not Wrinkly The Silver body surfing at BST Hyde Park on Friday - it's actually lead singer Ty Taylor of Vintage Trouble! Wow what a week - capped off with The Who, Paul Weller, Kaiser Chiefs, the brilliant Vintage Trouble (thanks for the tip-off Steve B.) and The Standard Lamps (our Track Of The Day and downloadable)! WTS's review will follow soon but in the meantime our BST Photo Gallery is now available here - a great reflection on another great day. And not trying to steal WTS's thunder - but a big shout out to all of you who we had the pleasure of meeting during the festival. Drop us a line if you're in one of the pics and if you're not - then send us a message anyway!

Route 66 Show Tonight! 28 June 2015

After a busy week of gigs for the WRC - who better to reflect and listen to about last Wednesday's knockout ZZ Top Wembley gig than Route 66 host Rory Auskerry. As you know Rory and his brother Hamish joined the WRC ranks that night and got a few polite suggestions before the gig (see pic) on a number of bands currently on the WRC radar. So make sure you listen to Pure Radio 107.8FM here tonight between 6pm and 8pm and in recognition of Wednesday night we have also made Thunder our Vid Of The Day!

End Of An Era? 27 June 2015

Given all the rumours - was this possibly the last time the WRC would ever see The Who live in London - and if so did they go out with a bang? And what about the undercard - Paul Weller, Kasabian and Vintage Trouble (recommended by member Steve B)? Well, Wrinkly The Silver's usual brilliant review is in the pipeline but in the meantime have a gander at our Vid Of The Day plus the pic above with more pics and vids to come. Watch this space!

Coolness Personified! 27 June 2015

And we're not talking about the WRC members in this picture! Anyway, if BST was as good as the time we had at ZZ Top on Wednesday night then we've had one hell of a week! As promised go here for our ZZ Top review which includes a new Thunder vid complementing our photo gallery here!

One Week To BluesRockfest! 27 June 2015

With all this Rockin' going on this week it's time to redress the balance with our weekly Track Of The Day dose of the Blues with Kevin Beale aka The Marshman's Blues On The Marsh show from last night. And with just seven days to go to BluesRockfest - go here for ticket information on all the bands that are playing at this year's BluesRockfest and remember if you are a WRC member just go here where you can get a £3 discount on your ticket!

Having Your Cake And Eating It Too! 26 June 2015

Just hours before the gig - the eager anticipation of a night to remember was already palpable in The Blue Check Bar in Empire Way, Wembley - a plethora of Thunder and ZZ Top t-shirts proudly on display - reinforcing that feel good factor. The WRC not to be outdone - were out in force as well - the ranks bolstered by Route 66's Rory Auskerry and his brother Hamish (see our picture gallery here). To say we were not disappointed with the gig would be an understatement - in fact it exceeded our expectations - the consummate professionalism of Thunder with Danny Bowes at the helm who seem to get better every time we see them - and if ZZ Top are not the consummate of cool personified - then we would like to know who is. We witnessed a blistering set from the Houston Rockers that not only ended with a (hi ho) silver lining but also literally icing on the cake as Jeff Beck guested on his 71st birthday (see Video Of The Day)!

Read the rest of AJ’s review tomorrow plus a new Thunder vid!

BST Here We Come! 26 June 2015

All roads lead today to Hyde Park and British Summer Time headliners The Who. Rumoured to be their last ever tour  - both they and main support Paul Weller will also be appearing at Glastonbury on Sunday. Read our review here of the last time we saw them at the O2 Arena London in March plus we're also off to see Classic Quadrophenia at The Royal Abert Hall Sunday fortnight! Anyway give us a shout if you're going as well and watch out for Wrinkly The Silver's informed review plus a few vids and pics over the coming days!

Blues Club Track Of The Day! 26 June 2015

With just eight days to go to BluesRockfest - today's Track Of The Day is the latest Blues Club podcast. The Blues Club are kindly sponsoring 2014 WRC Award winners Little Devils' set at The Red Lion, Gravesend on Saturday 4th July and in their latest broadcast  Jim and Malcolm include Little Devils' - naturally - plus BluesRockfest's Albany Down. For ticket information on all the bands that are playing at this year's BluesRockfest simply go here and remember if you are a WRC member just go here where you can get a £3 discount on your ticket!

Sharp Dressed Men! 25 June 2015

And we're not talking about the WRC entourage that attended Wembley Arena last night either! So were ZZ Top dogs and did we clap off Thunder at this highly anticipated gig? Well you'll have to be patient - but for starters check out our hot off the press Video Of The Day and the pic above with a considered review plus more photos and vids to come tomorrow!

Bromham Strays To Twickenham Festival! 25 June 2015

As part of the Twickenham Festival tonight, Del Bromham's Blues Devils will be performing at The Eel Pie Club, The Cabbage Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ. Del Bromham is founder member and guitarist/songwriter with the successful and legendary rock band, Stray.  Del's roots originate in the Blues and in 2004 he released a crtically acclaimed Blues album, 'Devil's Highway'.  With Del wearing his 'Blues hat' - you will no doubt be treated to driving Blues played with real musicianship and see  a talented, true, tried and tested professional at work! Doors open at 8.30pm and the music starts at 9.15pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted £9 admission.

Jam Tomorrow! 25 June 2015

As the saying sort of goes - no Jam today but Jam tomorrow! Yes it's a first for the WRC as we see the 'Modfather' Paul Weller (see Track Of The Day) supporting who else but The Who at BST tomorrow. Widely considered to be one of the UK’s greatest song writers, he has just released his second best of compilation ‘More Modern Classics’ with a new album due in 2015. Weller has had a lifelong relationship with The Who, citing them as an early influence, covering their songs whilst in The Jam and playing with both Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey at Teenage Cancer Trust shows.

High Voltage - ZZ Top! 24 June 2015

The last time the WRC saw ZZ Top was at the High Voltage Festival (see pic and Vid Of the Day) in Victoria Park, London on Saturday 24th July 2010 when they headlined the Classic Rock Stage. The undercard that day included The Answer, Foreigner and a certain Gary Moore - the very last time we saw him before his untimely death in February 2011. Anyway all roads lead to Wembley Arena tonight where yet again they will have strong support from Thunder who coincidentally played the Classic Rock Stage at HV the year after. And if you're going tonight then we hope to see you in The Blue Check Bar in Empire Way before the gig!

Route 66 To Wembley Way! 24 June 2015

Route 66 is also literally heading down from Stockport to Wembley tonight for ZZ Top and Thunder as host Rory Auskerry is going to the gig with his brother Hamish. Naturally Rory played tracks from both bands in his latest show on Sunday night including a cool dedication to the WRC! Anyway today's Track Of The Day also includes brand new tracks from veteran music producer Mike Vernon and Orkney based Blues rockers, The Andrew Taylor Group plus birthday tracks for Mick Fleetwood, Jeff Beck, Ray Davies and Joey Kramer of Aerosmith. As Rory says - This is probably the best Rock & Blues show on UK radio. Must be worth a pint in The Blue Check Bar later Rory!

Stairway To Heaven! 24 June 2015

They blew the bloody roof off the last time we promoted them (see pic), so we were delighted to hear from lead guitarist Mark Dawson about their forthcoming gig at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, on Wednesday 22nd July - and we will be there!  Voted WRC Best Tribute Act of 2012, Purple Zeppelin are proud to pay tribute to the two greatest Rock Bands of all time, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin – together on the same bill for the very first time!!! Many years have passed since the last UK gigs from the classic line-ups of both bands. Whether you were lucky enough to have seen the originals live or not, Purple Zeppelin will take you back to the magic, the excitement and the sheer raw energy generated by those incredible musicians. And you can still buy tickets priced £19 here - do not miss out!

Up Next - Thunder! 23 June 2015

"Following Michael Schenker onto the Main Stage were Thunder who more than justified their billing (many of the fans here would have been happy for Danny Bowes and the boys to take the headline slot) and if this ‘one-off’ comeback really was a flash in the pan then it proved to be a blast. Overlooking the fact he dances like the proverbial uncle at a wedding (accentuated by his suit jacket), Danny Bowes is both one of the UK's best and most precise rock voices, and a consummate ringleader. A magnificent rendition of 'Love Walked In' (see Vid Of The Day) rivalled Schenker’s Scorpions numbers with a great solo from Luke Morley. They also knock out the other hits: ‘Back Street Symphony’ ‘Dirty Love’ and of course their cover of ‘Gimme Some Lovin’  which has the whole crowd grinning from ear to ear. It’s like ice cream in your ear. In a good way of course ! It is a joyful celebration of the band that gave us such a fantastic 20 years, and if all we get to see of them is occasional one-offs like this (Xmas 2011?) then we'll treasure every moment. If this is indeed the very last time we see them, then this was quite a goodbye." That was our WRC take on Thunder at High Voltage in 2011 and they're still going strong supporting ZZ Top at Wembley arena tomorrow night. See you there!

It's Only Rock 'n Roll - But We Like It! 23 June 2015

The wait is over! Sticky Fingers, one of the most revered albums in the storied catalogue of the legendary Rolling Stones, was re-released recently in a variety of special formats. On Wednesday 20th May, to celebrate its re-release, The Rolling Stones performed the entire album and other greatest hits in a surprise show at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. You can relive some of the highlights of the show here!

The Kids Are Alright! 21 June 2015

So it's Father's Day in the UK and we know what one particular Dad got as his present! Yes little did we know that nearly three years after bumping into Alfie Boe (or more precisely Wrinkly The Mum bumped into him - see pic) at Springsteen's Hard Rock Calling gig at Hyde Park - we would now be seeing him perform Classic Quadrophenia with Pete Townshend (see Vid Of The Day) at The Royal Albert Hall in a fortnight's time! And despite being given a WRC card all that time ago – Alfie never did send in his membership application form! We'd better have a word with him!

Rock On The Ridge Returns Tonight! 20 June 2015

No pressure Bob & Jules tonight then!  So if you just want a night in listening to great Rock music then tune in to the guys between 8pm and 10pm here!

And on the subject of great radio shows - today's Track Of The Day is The Marshman himself Kevin Beale - and another chance to hear an edition of Channel Radio's Blues On The Marsh.

Amazing Journey Continues! 19 June 2015

"Anyway, Townshend’s performance of ‘I’m One’ (see Vid Of The Day) was brilliant but Daltrey’s vocals on ‘Love, Reign, O’er Me’ brought a tear to my eye for all the right reasons. The inclusion of the less popular ‘Eminence Front’, ‘So Sad About Us’ and ‘A Quick One’ was a surprise, however this is the perfect launch pad for a bit of ‘Tommy’ and we’re on that ‘Amazing Journey’ of ‘Pinball Wizard’ (where Daltrey has another bit of a mare), ‘Sparks’ and the moving ‘See Me Feel Me’. Awesome. The evening is then complete with both ‘Baba O’Riley’ and ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ which brings back memories of the very first time I saw The Who along with cutting edge lasers firing across The Valley." That was our WRC take on The Who at The O2 Arena, London in March - and we're off to see them again in a week at BST in Hyde Park! Give us a shout if you're going as well!

BluesRockfest Is British Blues Exhibition History! 19 June 2015

Since its inception - one of the most loyal supporters of both the WRC and indeed BluesFest has been Darren Weale. Not only has Darren contributed many excellent articles to our site over the years but he has also been a sponsor and a roving reporter (have a listen to our official 2013 WRC Wrinklycast here). Anyway Darren's latest project is the equally impressive and ambitous British Blues Exhibition (Breaking Blues Again) here. And not only is BluesRockfest mentioned in the British Blues Exhibition History section (we're not worthy) - but Darren has also done us proud with his latest Blog Of The Blues here which includes an in depth preview of BluesRockfest 2015.

Jim's Got The Blues! 19 June 2015

On the subject of BluesRockfest sponsors - our Track Of The Day is the latest Blues Club podcast from Jim McNeill who has kindly sponsored Little Devils' set at The Red Lion, Gravesend on Saturday 4th July. Don't forget also to tune into The Marshman and Blues On The Marsh here at 7pm tonight - which will be tomorrow's Track of The Day!

BluesFest 2014 Memories - Absolution 18 June 2015

With three musicians from different backgrounds and different styles, Absolution created a fresh and exciting sound at both BluesFest 2013 & 2014. Their British Blues-Rock had elements of early Free and Joe Bonamassa thrown in for good measure! Having already shared the stage with Blues legends Dr. Feelgood, Danny Bryant and King King - they not only managed to fit in a storming set at the British Rock & Blues festival in January 2013 but they took home two awards at the 2013 WRC Awards - 'Ones To Watch' and 'Best Guitar Solo' - following their performance at BluesFest 2013. They signed to European record label Blues Boulevard Records in 2014 and released 'Dusty Road' in September on a worldwide release - shortly after their second BluesFest performance (see Vid Of the Day). Straight away the album started selling across the globe and brought more plaudits for the band from press and fans alike!

Kaz Live Stream Tonight! 18 June 2015

Recently showcased in one of our 'Introducing ....' features and given that the WRC are proponents of 'Keeping Music Live' - Kaz and her Band O’Men are playing The South Woodchester Convent, Stroud, Gloucestershire at 8pm tonight - and if you can't make it to the venue - then you can still be 'there'. With support gigs under her belt such as Sir Van Morrison, Nanci Griffiths and Chris Farlow - Kaz launched her debut album 'Get Ready' and received a raft of top notch notices. Recently awarded the 2014 Rising Star Award from the world famous Blues & Soul Magazine and being a British Blues Award nominee in 2013 has brought much attention from the music industry in the UK.  And you can also be 'there' tonight by booking a live stream here. Enjoy!

Alternative Blues Slide guitarist and songwriter Dave Arcari joined Richard Dunning for Blues On The Radio in the Croydon Radio studio this week for a very special show, ahead of his appearance at The Tuesday Night Music Club. WRC Ready To Rock Despite Foos Disappointment! 17 June 2015

With just a week to go now to ZZ Top and Thunder at Wembley Arena,  the WRC gigs are coming thick and fast despite The Foo Fighters Wembley cancellation this Saturday. If you're going to ZZ next Wednesday or The Who at Hyde Park on Friday 26th then give us a shout as we might see you for a beer! In the meantime our thanks to Peter Phillips for the pic above which seems to encapsulate both all the gigs we have been to - or one's that are in the pipeline - although the likenesses are a bit harsh we think!

BluesFest 2013 Memories - Moore & Kyle 17 June 2015

"On the face of it, the next act, Nicky Moore and Danny Kyle had been unfairly placed between power Rock Blues acts. One steel guitar and one voice versus all that Blues Rock? No contest, you might think. An open invitation for the audience to drain away. Not a chance of that with the voice of Nicky Moore, a voice of ten normal mortals, and Danny Kyle's intricate guitar work. From the opening number, 'Fruitpickers' Blues', through the title track on their unparalleled new album, 'TheWhale And The Wa'ah', the pair won over the crowd. Nicky's voice is a beast in Blues terms, a finely honed power tool that once fronted metal acts Samson and Mammoth. It can still cut through steel. Encore calls came thick and fast and Nicky played favourites from his fine band, Nicky Moore's Blues Corporation, to great applause." Today's Track Of The Day is our official Wrinklycast of that memorable day which includes music and interviews from all the bands of the which the official DVD/CD (our Vid Of The Day) is still available from our merchandise page here.

Arcari's Blues Alternative Tonight! 16 June 2015

Talking of Punk - Slide guitarist and songwriter Dave Arcari’s (Vid Of The Day) alternative Blues sounds owe as much to trash Country, Punk and Rockabilly as they do pre-war Delta Blues and have been showcased via eight internationally-acclaimed solo CD releases. Tonight Dave joins Richard Dunning for Blues On The Radio tonight here at 5pm in the Croydon Radio studio for a very special show, ahead of his appearance at The Tuesday Night Music Club  in St. Margaret's Road, Coulsdon, Surrey CR5 3RB at 8.30pm. Dave will be selecting some of the songs that have influenced him, chatting about his career to date and may even break out the guitar to treat you to some live songs. And of course Richard will also squeeze in during the two hours some of the latest and greatest releases from around the world as well as playing the Independent Blues Broadcasters Associations picks of the month for June.

We would all like to thank the venue for making us so welcome plus all the bands for being so friendly and not gobbing at us! Of course the big news story as the WRC headed down to Brighton on Saturday was Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl who sustained "at least one fracture" when he fell off the stage during a concert in Gothenburg, Sweden. Consequently they cancelled the Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf, Netherlands, last night and tonight's  show at the AFG Arena in St Gallen, Switzerland. Foo Fighters fans (including the WRC this Saturday) now face several nervous days waiting for news about the fate of gigs at Wembley stadium and Glastonbury. A spokesman for Wembley stadium said: “We are aware of the incident last night involving Dave Grohl and are in contact with the event organisers, who at this stage have no further information. “As soon as we have news from the artiste this will be made public.”

The Story Goes On! 14 June 2015

The launch of the Blackfen TRADER just under 22 years ago gave the opportunity to feed the passion of two lifelong friends to cut their teeth in music journalism, reviewing local gigs, particularly at The Woodman in Blackfen, in their monthly ‘Caught Live’ column. And ever since that non-internet era their mutual appreciation of live music has not ebbed and has metamorphosed into a growing musical appreciation network: The Wrinkly Rockers Club (WRC). And as they say the rest is history with the success of both this website and more recently  WRC Promotions. So of course we're delighted to welcome back The TRADER as the band sponsor of The Troy Redfern Band this year!

Blues Club Does Us Proud! 14 June 2015

Taking of band sponsors - The Blues Club did the WRC proud last Wednesday night with their latest broadcast which included all six of our BluesRockfest bands including their own sponsored band Little Devils! Not only that but today's Track of The Day also includes former BluesFest bands Aynsley Lister and The Mentulls!

Bring It On! 14 June 2015

.... and talking of BluesRockfest and in particular The Red Lion, Gravesend  - take a look at today's amazing Vid Of The Day. Filmed at the recent Virgil & The Accelerators gig - Steve Borkowski's vid complemented by Vic Wintergreen's audio/mixing plus video editing and graphics by Phil Honley gives you a feel in one hit of a great venue, great sound, great lighting and a great band. Bring on BluesRockfest - with tickets on sale here for £15 in advance (£18 on the door).

WRC To Breakout! 13 June 2015

Just one week to go now until the WRC breakout (see our Video Of The Day) for our first outdoor gig  of the Summer. Yes we're off to see the Foo Fighters return to Wembley Stadium for the first time since their record breaking shows of 2008.  Not only that but we will get an exclusive treat with both the legendary Iggy Pop and the critically acclaimed Royal Blood on the bill. Give us a shout below if you're going as well!

Comin' Atcha - TESLA, Jules & Bob! 13 June 2015

Great show from The Rock On The Ridge team last Saturday which included WRC favourites TESLA! As usual there were lots of tweets flying about on the night - one of which was the WRC's "TESLA COMIN' ATCHA" - which was actually favourited by TESLA themselves! We're not worthy! Meanwhile the bad news is that there is no ROTR show tonight ... but the good news is that both Bob & Jules will be bringing their microphones etc. to BluesRockfest to interview all the bands on the day for our special BluesRockfest Wrinklycast! Watch this space!

Bumper Track Of The Day! 13 June 2015

Normal service returned to Blues On The Marsh on Channel Radio last night with The Marshman himself - Kevin Beale. As promised our Track Of The Day is a bumper edition including special live guest in the studio - Blues singer/guitarist Martin McNeil (pictured)!

BluesFest 2013 Memories - The Sharpees 12 June 2015

With just over 3 weeks to BluesRockfest we thought we'd reminisce and look back at our two previous BluesFest's - today we look back at 2013 and The Sharpees who were the second band on stage on that wet Saturday afternoon 24th August. Today's Track Of The Day is our official Wrinklycast of that memorable day which includes music and interviews from all the bands of the which the official DVD/CD is still available from our merchandise page here. Meanwhile The Sharpees have a gig tonight at 8pm at the Essex Arms in Brentwood - details here

BluesFest 2013 Memories - Larry Miller 12 June 2015

We're grateful to WRC member Keith Baxter for this take on Larry Miller's recent gig in Kinross. "An ardent bunch of hardened Larry Miller fans witnessed him in all his glory. His vocal meanderings between songs only served to give us a heartfelt sense of belonging. Ranging from full on Blues rockers to quiet emotional songs, we the audience were privy to impassioned playing by a man unparalled in his field. Quite how he does it is an absolute mystery as it appears to pour out from his very soul. So we came away priveliged to have seen such a professional at the very top of his game." Nice one Keith - we pretty much had the exact same feeling after Larry headlined BluesFest 2013. And we make no apologies for Larry's opener once again being our Vid Of The Day!

Marshman Back With A Bang! 12 June 2015

Normal service returns to Blues On The Marsh tonight on Channel Radio at 7pm. Listen here to The Marshman himself - Kevin Beale - with a bumper edition plus his special live guest in the studio - Blues singer/guitarist Martin McNeil. And if you don't manage to catch the show tonight then watch out for tomorrow's 'Track Of The Day'!

T.Rextasy On The Juice! 11 June 2015

It also features a live version of 'Dreamy Lady', plus 'Cosmic Dancer' and 'Telegram Sam' live from the mixing desk. To complete the CD, they have also featured 'I Love To Boogie', 'Hot Love', 'Till Dawn', 'A Dream That Lasts Forever' and 'White Christmas' (the last 5 tracks have been previously released on CD). If you would like to order a copy at a bargain £12 then please e-mail t.rextasy@btinternet.com Meanwhile, as of yesterday 170 tickets had been sold for our Mick Jagger Centre Charity gig on Saturday 21st November. Do not miss out - go here to book your £21 tickets!

Bringing The House Down! 11 June 2015

Supporting the legendary Status Quo at Burghley House on Saturday was simply amazing according to the latest Walkway update! Apparently Mr. Parfitt (pictured with the guys) was extremely complimentary to the band and made a point of coming over to speak to them! Not only that but there was a brilliant reaction from the crowd (read the review here) and lots of new fans were made! Consequently Walkway's very windy soundcheck is our Vid Of The Day and don't forget the guys are supporting Quo again at Hatfield House on Saturday 20th June!

Shut Up! 11 June 2015

Rest assured that this is not the latest design of our new WRC t-shirt - but hey this fella has a point! Anyway, our thanks to Suezan one our WRC Twitter followers for tweeting the pic - much appreciated. And as for the real deal - our new '2015 WRC On Tour' t-shirt with Mr. RockRpix's classic photo of Joe Bonamassa at The Hammersmith Apollo in March now adorns the back of the shirt with the classic black WRC emblem and 'Keep Music Live' proudly displayed on the front! Simply go to our merchandise page here where you can purchase one to wear at BluesRockfest (go to our gigs Track Of The Day) at a bargain £15!

Little Devils Blues Club! 10 June 2015

"Heavy Weather showcased all elements of this four-piece band plus their originality with lead singer Yoka Qureshi playing both the sax and flute. The set list then correlated with the CD as they followed up with 'Wounded', 'Skin Sin', the very catchy 'Deep Inside' and 'Birth Of The Blues' - highlighting the musical (and personal) chemistry between Yoka and lead guitarist (and partner) Ray Qureshi. B.B. would have loved that one." Yes that was another WRC take - this time on Little Devils recent album launch party - and with just under four weeks to go now we'd like to thank The Blues Club from Switch Dunmow (listen here tonight at 8pm) for being their set sponsor at BluesRockfest! Tickets for Bluesrockfest are still on sale here for £15 in advance (£18 on the door). And remember if you are a WRC member just go here where you can get £3 discount off your ticket!

Jukin' Jen's Bucket Of Blues! 10 June 2015

Talking of 2014 WRC Award winners Little Devils - the WRC bumped into a number of people at 'The Storm Inside' launch party - one of which was Jennifer Noble from Chicago who is pictured alongside second from the right. Anyway we're delighted to feature as today's 'Track Of The Day' Jukin' Jen's Bucket Of Blues for the very first time! Jennifer's podcast today features classics from Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon and of course B.B. King. Enjoy!

Komedian Larry! 10 June 2015

Last week our old mucker Larry Miller completed three successful gigs in Scotland of which the Kinross gig was attended by ecstatic WRC member Keith Baxter! Accordingly our Vid Of The Day is brilliant footage of Larry's Edinburgh gig. Meanwhile tonight Larry is back down 'sarf' playing the Komedia in Brighton - unfortunately just three days before a strong WRC contingent head down there for a Stag weekend. Shame!

These guys are definitely on their way up and we look forward to welcoming them back on July 4th to open BluesRockFest." Burghley House Via Sidcup & Eltham! 6 June 2015

Just down the road from The Iron Horse, Sidcup - where our friends Walkway recently  performed - at the junction of Westmount Road, Eltham -  was the Welcome Inn, which burnt down in 2006 and is now a block of flats. This was also the place where a certain Status Quo first performed with Rick Parfitt in 1967. Consequently a Music Heritage Plaque from the Performing Rights Society was unveiled at the former venue in 2010. Both Francis Rossi and Parfitt attended the ceremony (pictured) with Rossi revealing that at that gig they supported the band which eventually became Deep Purple! Ironically both bands cross paths again when Walkway support Quo (our Vid Of The Day from Christmas 2011) at Burghley House tonight!

Chantel McGregor Part 2 - Gig Review 2 June 2015

It says much for the character, talent and versatility of a band when they can change their plans for a show at almost a moment’s notice. That was exactly what Chantel McGregor did at the Boom Boom last Friday to overcome the absence of the guest act and ensure an expectant crowd got class and value for money. The solution to the problem, Chantel taking to the stage to play an opening solo acoustic set of five songs that came as a real surprise and a veritable treat writes Nigel Foster.

Read the rest of Nigel's Chantel McGregor review here, go to John Bull's excellent picture gallery here plus also see our 'Video Of The Day!'

Hats Off To You Guys! 1 June 2015

There’s no doubt that the Brooklyn Bowl is impressive but the hybrid of it being both a gig venue and a bowling alley (although the bowling stopped when the band came on) resulted in a hundred and fifty or so punters being lost in the periphery of chairs and tables – with no one being up front and personal with the band. Despite this – if you were looking for Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits performed with professionalism and passion then HOTLZ ticked all the right boxes. The guys had played the Bowl before a few months back and apparently the increase in numbers on the night reflected how well they went down last time.
