Ronnie's Legacy Lives On! 30/8/16
"Well Hello - How Are You?" sang Simpson as they opened with Lane's 'Last Orders Please' taken from The Faces 'A Nod Is As Good As A Wink' - and despite missing Slim Chance's original clarinet - the emphatic answer from the audience was a definite "we'll have more of that thank you very much". Lane's collaboration with Pete Townshend on the album 'Rough Mix' led to Watkins hypnotic keys and vocals on 'Rats Tales' alias 'Cat Melody' and again despite no saxophone - Hart's accordion more than made up for this on a song co-written by Lane and Kit Lambert - the irony being that whilst working on this album Ronnie discovered that he had Multiple Sclerosis. Bingham's new track 'Fishing Line' from 'On The Move' kept the momentum going with its catchy chorus keeping the Slim Chance flag flying before Geraint's opening keys on 'You're So Right' - from Lane's very own album 'See Me' - saw vested interest from Charlie's accordion given he originally recorded the album with some guy called Eric Clapton. Whatever happened to him? Watkins and Hart's own composition 'Ragtime' - again from 'On The Move' - did exactly what it said on the tin - albeit with that subtle Slim Chance twist of a banjo and a fiddle followed by another from 'OTM' - Steve's 'Two Steps Away From Love' - again rock n' roll with that unique Slim Chance feel. A cover of Wilmer Watts & His Lonely Eagles 'Duncan And Brady' is also featured on 'OTM' - this upbeat take on the night showcasing once more Hart's accordion expertise."

Replicants Wrinklystock 4 Footage 22/8/16
"The second half of the set focused on new numbers such as the anthem ‘Sex on Fire’ followed by the Wrinkly challenge ‘Sweet Emotion’ - they smashed it and we were reminded of that by the band who “gestured” to that effect. Just as we thought it couldn’t get any better they pulled another rabbit out of the hat as they introduced their special guest 14 year old drummer Liam O’Kane - the crowd roared their appreciation as Liam powered out ‘Lil Devil’, ‘Ace of Spades’ and ‘Smoke on the Water’ - how can a young man of 14 play classics like that so well? A standing ovation followed which was never in doubt and was followed by the usual closing anthem ‘Rebel Yell’ during which the guys were joined by some of the adults, the organisers and of course Liam!"
Check out today's Wrinklystock 4 Vid Of The Day plus read the whole of Wrinkly's take on that memorable night last November here.
Shoreditch Natives 22/8/16
"In association with 1883 Magazine and Radio X, the band opened with previous single (and their first release in two years) 'Chasing Lions' - immediate affirmation of their distinctive sound (think Lion King) complemented by stand out backing harmonies. Sandwiched in between the impressively catchy 'Stop The Rain' at the end were four new tracks: 'Passion', 'Pray', 'War Paint' and 'Animals' - all of which went down well with the Cargo punters. The four-piece band consists of Andy White (drums and percussion), Greg Day (bass), Jack Fairbrother (guitar, keyboards), and Jim Thomas (vocals) - their tribal theme also giving the guys the opportunity to play various percussion - despite their short set. Natives return to London on Thursday 8th September at Dingwalls supporting MOTHXR."

On Friday 30th September Last Great Dreamers release 'Transmissions From Oblivion'; their first brand new album since they reformed through their own independent label Ray Records. To celebrate the release of 'Transmissions From Oblivion' the Last Great Dreamers take their rocket fuelled power pop on the road for 12 headline dates, including London’s Nambucca on Friday 30th September. The opening power pop anthem 'Oblivion Kids' sets the tone as the flamboyant yet urgent album takes the listener through 14 heartfelt songs including the singles 'Glitterball Apocalypse' (today's Vid Of The Day) ,which documents the tragedies of rock 'n roll and the raucous 'Dope School', plus the best 2 minute pop/punk song the Buzzcocks never wrote 'The Way We Collide', before this quintessentially English album concludes with the punktastic clarion call 'Turn It Up'.

Larry chose these tracks as being some of his favourites. There are also 3 excellent, previously unreleased tracks. As far as Larry's recovery is concerned, he started playing guitar again a few months ago and is improving every week but it is taking a lot longer than expected to relearn his guitar skills. Consequently Larry is looking at a return sometime in 2017 but as yet it is difficult to predict when.

The headline news is that Beth’s latest album, 'Fire On The Floor' (out on Friday 14th October on Provogue/Mascot Label Group) sees this fiercely self-critical artist describe it as as “pretty frickin’ good”. May The Force Be With You! 16/8/16
"Time for a guitar intro from guest Oli Brown on 'Damn The Reason' - with no let up in Schorr's vocal nor subject matter - this time based on domestic violence. The contradiction is that it's beautifully crafted with Julian Maeso's keyboards, the introduction of backing vocals plus a trademark Brown guitar solo. The opening groovy rhythm guitar of Quique Bonal on 'Cat And Mouse' belies its underlying message of past emotional abuse in the music industry. "I ain't ready for a steady rollin' Tom and Jerry life!" - the moral of this story being that once the shackles are off you can write great groovy music like this with both Sibun and Maeso excelling. The first cover on the album is Lead Belly's classic 'Black Betty' - it's unique arrangement and in particular it's cajun guitar opening - lean heavily methinks on the influence of Sibun's time with Robert Plant in 1993. About slavery and rape - Sari originally performed this at Lead Belly Fest at Carnegie Hall - Ram Jam it certainly ain't - but it's powerful production, Innes' guitar and Sari's undeniable enthusiasm and attitude deliver a classic from within a classic."

Times they are a-changing. In November last year, 2014 WRC Award winners Little Devils decided to re-group. Due to other commitments, Sara stepped down to be their deputy drummer and Dave Powell (Adele, Mumford & Sons etc.) joined on the hot seat plus Muzz (pictured) whose powerful voice brings a new range to Little Devils songs - her soulful feel defying her tender age. So, new line up = new band = new name - it's a sea change, ladies and gentlemen, so say hello to the ...... Deep Blue Sea (Vid Of The Day) - our latest addition to LastMinuteBandz here.
Big River To Release New Single 13/8/16
Big River release their brand new single 'Mama' via digital outlets on Monday 22nd August. The track is the first to be released from 'The West Sessions' EP and is the first original song written by the band and local songwriter Matt Knox. The 'West Sessions' comprise of four tracks recorded completely live during a beautiful July afternoon at an English countryside pavilion. The band all recorded in the same room, a large hall which gave a drum sound reminiscent of Headley Grange recordings from the 70's. Completely old school and influenced by the classic 'Live at the BBC' sessions and more recently the Radio 1 Live Lounge, this was the format Big River wanted for their first recording. Recorded and produced by Paul West and mastered by Pete Maher (Jack White, Thunder, Linkin Park, The Rolling Stones, U2), this was the perfect team to capture the live sound of Big River that is becoming a firm favourite on UK stages. Big River are Adam Bartholomew (vocals), Damo Fawsett (guitar), Ant Wellman (bass) and Luke Calvert (drums).

"SIMply Fecking Brilliant.." 11/8/16
".. And if that wasn't enough the cover of Cocker and the Beatles original ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ virtually blew the top of the Blues Tent right off! Simply fecking brilliant.. JD isn't a raconteur and at one point apologized for not saying much saying that "dialogue was through the songs." Too bloody right! The Blues Rock market is crowded right now as people look to the past for their future inspiration, but there’s a way to get your music heard above the rest. Be so good you can’t be ignored. And if talent counts for anything, then in ten years time, it’s the Nashville based Simo that are set for arenas. They are to soon to complete 3 European tours since inception and the latest album ‘Let Love Show The Way’ has received great critical acclaim... Onwards and upwards surely if there is any justice....."
Check out WRC correspondent Steve Borkowski's latest SIMO Ramblin' Man Vid Of The Day today plus of course the rest of Wrinkly The Silver's awesome Sunday review here.

Halfway through 2015 Teresa decided to move to England to produce her new music and to live close to the British record industry which has always fascinated her.
