Farewell Guys 31/1/17

"If this really is to be The End, then The End comes early to a sold out 02.  It's 8.15 when the rain (inside and out) and the tolling bell usher in the band with the song of the same name. The crowd goes mental as the curtain falls, to reveal a massive stage spanning screen and a backline of fire. From the first note it's obvious the boys are in no mood to mess around and with little crowd interaction they let the music and visuals do the talking, one hundred minutes of it to be precise. Black Sabbath quickly heads into 'Fairies Wear Boots', who could possibly wish for two better opening songs? The fire is turned down (presumably before the whole band melt) although the intensity of the band is not, as they smash through Volume 4's 'Under The Sun'/'Everyday Comes & Goes'. Tony Iommi showing why he is such an admired guitarist and Ozzy's vocals right on the money."

Let It Flow! 24/1/17

"Hughes' enthusiasm and emotion was already palpable as he reached back 35 years to his collaboration with Pat Travers Band guitarist Pat Thrall and 'Muscle And Blood' - the 65 year old proving that the body and that incredible voice are still willing despite some of his contemporaries falling by the wayside. It was then time to go back even further to 1975 and Mk IV, for some Deep Purple and 'Gettin' Tighter' - Hughes vocals not only giving Coverdale a run for his money but also showcasing his very cool pounding bass with great drum work from Engborg plus the manic organ of Boe. The rocking 'Stumble & Go' from 'Resonate' had a definite Stones feel about it before Trapeze's 'Medusa' proceeded to beguile - Hughes' hypnotic vocals complemented by a fusion that accentuated every sinew of his band on this classic. Hughes' banter about his runny nose and his historic use of mad marching powder preceded the familiar opening hard riff of 'Can't Stop The Flood' - written by Glenn in the desert - and off of his 2001 album 'Building The Machine' - this kept the set list well and truly alive in an oasis of quality Rock music."

Goldfever 21/1/17

"From here it's on to 'Love Will Always Find A Way'. A very laid back song, which would sound perfectly at home on Radio 2 on a lazy Sunday afternoon.Sounding a lot like Chris Rea, it's a tale of a couple who have to run away to be together, and is very much a song my Mum would say was a lovely little tune. Next up is my favourite track on the album, 'The Rain Will Come And Wash It All Away' is a beautiful song which starts with Townend's great vocals and a simple acoustic guitar before gospel backing singers gently join in, giving the song extra richness & depth. A great song. A shame then that my favourite song is followed by one which feels like the only "filler" track on the album. 'Help From The Lord Above' feels a bit laboured and meandering which is not helped by the repetitive lyrics, this would be the song to be skipped over on repeated plays of this CD."

Swedish Eclipse 21/1/17

In the two years since the release of their last album, ‘Armageddonize’, the Swedish act Eclipse have established themselves as rising stars in Europe, North America, Japan and Australia. With their forthcoming new record, ‘Monumentum’, the musical ability and maturity of main songwriters Erik Mårtensson and Magnus Henriksson plus bandmates Philip Crusner (drums) and Magnus Ulfstedt (bass) is truly on display for the world to hear. Fans of the band will certainly not be disappointed, while newcomers can look forward to eleven slices of superlative Melodic Hard Rock, starting with ‘Vertigo’ our Vid Of The Day.

Times Have Changed 20/1/17

"Joe Tex's '68 classic 'Show Me' - best known from the Commitments - kicks things off in style - one for the 'Blues Police' to drool over - featuring a mean Cropper guitar, contrasted by the slower groovy guitar of Todd Mohr on Brooks' own composition 'Doing Too Much' which has oodles of soul and certainly keeps up with the Joneses. And what better way to keep the momentum going - than it's 'Twine Time' - the instrumental sixties sound from the late Alvin Cash & The Crawlers - and given its fusion of guitar and keys intro, I would defy anyone not to want to get up and do the Twine - with Ronnie's father Lonnie given the honours on this classic on guitar. The pace slows on the stand out 'Times Have Changed' - written years ago by Brooks but timelessly reinvented by Jordan - as testified by Ronnie's jousting guitar solo outro with his long time friend from Memphis and rapper Al Kapone - Brooks' intention to be authentic enough for the older generation but have something that the younger generation could latch onto, fully vindicated on this title track."

Cut Against The Grain 20/1/17

Teenage guitar sensation Aaron Keylock also releases his highly anticipated debut album 'Cut Against The Grain' today. He recorded the album in LA in 2016 with producer Fabrizio Grossi who has previously worked with Alice Cooper, Dave Navarro, Slash, Ice-T, George Clinton and Zakk Wylde.  The album highlights a prodigious young British Rock talent completely at one with his guitar, blasting out his first songs with a raw and powerful attitude. He showcases Americana tinged slide Rock guitar in tracks such as 'Against The Grain', 'Down' and 'Sun’s Gonna Shine' whilst flashes of Gary Moore haunt the epic Just 'One Question' and 'All The Right Moves'. Crowd favourite 'Medicine Man' was the first song he ever demo-ed whilst the hints of Rory Gallagher on 'All The Right Moves' is a lightning rocker that’s fast becoming a live favourite. 'That’s Not Me' was inspired by The Faces and 'No Matter What The Cost' is an expressive nod towards the Allman Brothers. Things have been building momentum and in 'Cut Against The Grain', Aaron Keylock is set to launch himself on the world full throttle.

Keith Thompson and his band (Track Of The Day) have been making some big impressions in the media recently with their new album 'Catch the Fire'. The band will perform a one-off UK show at The Underworld in London tonight and support will come from Dutch Horror Metallers Carach Angren and also Italian-based Symphonic Death Metallers Nightland. 'King' was produced by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Soilwork), with the help of recording engineer Marco Mastrobuono.

Bottom's Up 18/1/17

"The Bottom Line’s strong stage presence had been evident from the moment they entered the stage, partly due to the improved, stronger lighting, partly due to the band’s obvious professionalism, but primarily due to the charisma and self-belief of front man Callum Amies.  Callum is an expert at relating to and working his audience.  Helped by the band’s melody bound riffs, rampant rhythms and the instant catchiness of their songs, he soon has them clapping, bouncing, dabbing and even, at one stage, crowd surfing, at will.  The only time for a break in the perpetual motion generated by the set is when Callum is left alone on stage for a (slightly) quieter, (slightly) slower solo.  But not for long; within minutes the rest of the band return for a fabulous finale and all hell broke loose again - on stage and off it!"

Bury My Dead 18/1/17

As Lions (Vid Of The Day) have unveiled the lyric video for their brand new track ‘Bury My Dead’ – taken from their debut full-length album 'Selfish Age', out on Friday 20th January via Better Noise Records. The track is a punishing dose of British Metal, with a chorus that keeps in line with the band’s effortless ability to produce stadium size tracks. 'Selfish Age' is the follow-up to As Lions’ debut EP 'Aftermath' released earlier this year and is produced by award-winning producer David Bendeth (Of Mice & Men, Paramore, Bring Me The Horizon) and Kane Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, In This Moment).

How Much Further 18/1/17

Birmingham singer Stealth has unveiled ‘How Much Further’ (today's Track Of The Day), the third and final track to be taken from his new EP 'Verse', out last Friday on his own imprint Chubby Puppy. ‘How Much Further’ is a big Bluesy anthem, co-written and produced by two-time Grammy nominated Michael Angelo, with rolling guitars and captivating handclaps paving the ways for Stealth’s weighty vocal tones, which have drawn comparisons to the likes of Rag’n’Bone Man and Hozier.

Holding On 17/1/17

In 2016 Provogue released 'Heal My Soul', Jeff Healey's ‘lost’ album comprising twelve previously unheard tracks, all rescued from the vaults, lovingly restored by the guitarist’s estate and alive with his spirit. Now they've released 'Holding On', a perfect bookend to the critically acclaimed 'Heal My Soul' and 2016 in general, which saw a continuous celebration of what would have been Jeff’s 50th birthday. Featuring  five rare Jeff Healey studio tracks that were all recorded during the same time period as ‘Heal My Soul’ (‘96-’98) and a concert recorded in Oslo, Norway in 1999, a live snapshot of a brilliant performer at the top of his game, 'Holding On' is the perfect complement to 'Heal My Soul'.

Midnight Highway 14/1/17

Quinn Sullivan (Vid Of The Day) has been a music professional for more than 75 per cent of his life. He’s shared the stage with Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Los Lobos, The Roots, Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi and Joe Bonamassa, and he opened for B.B. King, who later invited him to play his treasured “Lucille” guitar. Yes, Sullivan has packed some extraordinary experience into his decade-long career, and that’s even more remarkable when you consider that he’s only 17. His third studio album, 'Midnight Highway', was produced by multi GRAMMY® winner Tom Hambridge - who also does double duty as Quinn’s studio and road drummer - and will be released on Friday 24th March.

Live At The Barn 12/1/17

'Live At The Barn' (Track Of The Day) follows The Wood Brothers 2015 critically acclaimed 'Paradise', which the band recorded at Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye studio in their adopted hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Hailed by Rolling Stone for songwriting "that hits both the heart and head" and praised by American Songwriter for its "spry, soulful folk-rock," the album debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and launched The Wood Brothers into the most successful year of their career, with performances everywhere from Bonnaroo to Red Rocks to Carnegie Hall. A few weeks after 'Live At The Barn' is released this Friday 13th January - the band kick-off a U.S. tour!

Monster Support 11/1/17

"Kicking off the night were fellow-Canadian southern rock band Monster Truck. who brought a very 70’s swagger to the stage along with a lot of noise to boot!! AJ told me they were good and he wasn't wrong!! These guys are coming off the release of their second album ‘Sittin' Heavy’ from the start of the year, and made it clear in their short set that they are one to keep an eye on. Shirt off guitarist Jeremy Widerman was riffing like mad and running all over the place and their stoner rock went down well with the massed ranks who grew in numbers during the set. Bluesy riffs, catchy melodies, upbeat tunes and amp-heavy offerings from their debut album ‘Furiosity’ made for a great start to the night, capturing everyone’s attention and creating further hype for what was to come. They looked right at home on the 02 Arena stage I must say. ‘Old Train’ had plenty of woah woahs and bringing Ryan Peake out early for the guitar solo in ‘For The People’ was a great touch and ‘For The Sun’ showed a slower Bluesy feel to the material.. An excellent support slot and I for one will check them out next time round. AJ has converted me....!!!" We look back at 2016 for the final time in our WRC Awards and congratulate Monster Truck who have won our Best Support category as reviewed above by Wrinkly The Silver at London's O2 Arena with Nickelback last October. Well done to all our winners and nominees and here's to a rockin' 2017!

Wicked Award! 10/1/17

"Anyway, first band up to kick things off were local lads Wicked Stone on the newly added Rising Stage, which is the fourth stage at the Festival. Wicked Stone are a 5 piece Hard Rock/Southern Metal band. Bringing amp blistering riffs, hard hitting grooves and spine tingling vocals, they were the perfect band to kick off the ritual of head banging and air guitar thrashing mayhem.  I was really impressed with them. This was a band that took its opportunity having only been announced 3 weeks beforehand and absolutely nailed it. I understand they have not been together very long and I freely admit I had not heard of them and my only musical association with Wicked Stone up until that moment  was Slash's song of the same name !! If you like Guns n’ Roses, Skid Row, heavier Whitesnake and Motley Crue then you will love these guys !! They played a track called ‘Ain't No Rest’ which was excellent and also ‘Another Round’ which could also be found on a 2 track freebie CD which in a very smart PR move  was presented to fans (including us!) afterwards... They started off Sunday very well and I shall be monitoring their progress very closely from now on..." Following Wrinkly The Sliver's praise of Wicked Stone at Ramblin' Man last July - the guys have been duly voted 'One's To Watch' in our 2016 WRC Awards. With just the Best Support category announcement to go - check out today's Vid Of The Day!

ROTR Kick Off 2017 10/1/2017

A Force To Reckon With! 9/1/17

"However, it's a measure of Schorr's versality,  with her roots originally in Jazz - and perhaps sometimes overpowering vocals (she was once compared to a hybrid between Tina Turner and Janis Joplin) - she's had to learn to hold back to get the guts of the Blues. Anders Olinders' beautiful keyboard intro took Sari into another dimension. There's certainly nothing ordinary about this ballad - the crystal clarity of Schorr's vocals all for everyone to see and hear. A beautiful end to an awesome set. A special mention literally for the 'Engine Room' of Jefferies and O'Rourke plus with Sari, Innes and Anders in such excellent form off the stage as well as on it - there was still time to chat and of course buy the CD. An awesome evening - just make sure you the buy the CD and catch them on tour!" This was AJ's take on Sari Schorr & The Engine Room's Half Moon, Putney gig in early September last year - and we are so pleased to announce that the guys have been voted the Best Blues Rock Performance in our 2016 Awards! In the meantime watch our Vid Of The Day and keep a look out for penultimate One's To Watch Award tomorrow!

Dean Howard At Leo's 9/1/17

One of the best bands to grace The Woodman in Blackfen, Kent, was The Herbs in August 1995. The band was formed by former T’Pau lead guitarist Dean Howard - the guy who added a more heavy rock style of guitar work first featured on the re-recording of ‘China in your Hand’ from ‘Bridge of Spies’ which subsequently stayed at number one in the UK single charts for five weeks and was the band's biggest hit. Anyway, Howard had a studio in his garden and recruited well-respected Medway vocalist Jim Riley, Russ Kennedy from ‘The Absolute’ on bass and a certain John Keeble on drums (ex-Spandau Ballet) to record their one and only album ‘The Other Side’. Dean's current band will be sandwiched in between Damo Fawsett with Big River plus ex-Bad Company

guitarist Dave "Bucket" Colwell and his band at Leo's Red Lion, Gravesend, on Saturday 4th March. For further information go here.

Too Blue, Too Soon 9/1/17

Our first Black On Blues Track Of The Day in 2017 is another Blues women special featuring Jo Harman (pictured), Fran McGillvray Band, Renee Austin, Petra Bornerova, Val Starr & The Blues Rocket and the Ally Venable Band.

Procol Harum Shade It! 8/1/17

"While I love the unique sound of Procol Harum I must confess to only never ever having owned a Procol Harum album ! So after taking us on a stunning journey as dusk arrived through the likes of  opener ‘Shine on Brightly’, ‘Pandora's  Box’,  ‘Conquistador, A Salty Dog’ and ‘Homburg’ there was just one song left. Finally the band hit on the familiar chords of ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’, one of the most recognizable, most majestic and surely one of the most beautiful songs of the late 60’s. A powerful end to a magnificent performance." This was Wrinkly The Silver's conclusion to a wonderful Ramblin' Man Fair weekend last July - with Procol Harum accordingly taking our 2016 WRC Best Prog Performance Award. Anyway, have a look at today's Vid Of The Day plus watch out for our Best Blues Performance Award announcement tomorrow!

Hughes' Communion 8/1/17

Glenn Hughes, the legendary British Rock singer and bassist, who is currently in the studio in LA recording a new studio album with rock supergroup Black Country Communion, has released an official statement to his fans about touring the UK later this month. "I’'m thrilled to be coming over to tour the UK and Europe this month and February,” says Hughes. “My band will now be a four piece - on guitar is Søren Andersen, on drums Pontus Engborg, and on keyboards Jay Boe.  Song selections will be a mix from my new album 'Resonate', and from my well of historic songs through the decades. This tour is all about Rock and what it means to us all, including my band, and to my fans and friends. Let's get 2017 going with a killer night for Rock lovers, movers and shakers. I'm in. Let's go! See you down the front!”" Hughes’ special guests are Stone Broken with the tour kicking off at The Riverside, Newcastle, on Friday 20th January, ending with The Fleece, Bristol, on Thursday 2nd February. Meanwhile we will be covering Glenn's London Islington Assembly Hall  gig on Saturday 21st January!

Film Noir 8/1/17

Yorkshire, UK Alternative Rock band Hellbound Hearts have announced the release of their first full-length studio debut album ‘'Film Noir’' which is out on Friday 7th April. The new release is preceded by the premiere of a new single/lyric video ‘'Suffering The Radio’' which is today's Track Of The Day'. Produced by Matt Ellis at Axis Studios (Black Spiders, Terrorvision), ‘'Film Noir’' is a commanding collection of songs that range from feel-good melodies to dark, sinister hooks, whilst all the while packing in stand out singalong choruses and heavy grooves. Taking their cue from previous EP releases like ‘'The Proximity Effect’', ‘'Outside’' and stand-alone single 'Nancy's House', Hellbound Hearts are more than the sum of their parts, they are a live force to be reckoned with, and as shown countless times on ‘'Film Noir’', they make astonishing heavy, catchy and standout music laced with wicked jagged riffs and pop-smart melodies. Be prepared, it’s time to go dark!

Cream On Top Again 7/1/17

"Vocalist Maggie Reilly performed both 'Rope Ladder To The Moon' and 'Ships In The Night' - although the honour of singing 'Sunshine Of Your Love' went to another member of the Scottish Mafia, Lulu - with fittingly Malcolm Bruce on bass and Pete Brown banging his tambourine in the background. Other performers on a marvellous evening included Aruba Red (Jack's daughter), Trevor Horn, Jeff Berlin, Dennis Chambers,Tramper Price, Emma Wilson, Jasmine Rodgers (Paul's daughter), Freyja Pibworth , Ollie, Calum Ingram, Jack's nephew Nico Bruce, Guy Pratt, Norman Beaker, Will John and Judd Lander. Suffice to say that on this evidence Jack's legacy is in safe hands!" That was part of AJ's review of An Evening For Jack at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in October last year which has walked away with our 2016 Best Tribute WRC Award. Anyway, see today's Vid Of The Day and with just four categories still to be announced - watch out for our Best Prog Performance winner tomorrow.

Champion 7/1/17

Today's Track Of The Day is the official new music video 'Champion' from Dan Reed Network and is the new single taken from the band’s current album 'Fight Another Day'. The release dovetails their March 2017 UK Tour which begins on Wednesday 1st March at the Level 3 Club, Swindon, and ends at Nottingham's Rescue Rooms on Wednesday 15th March including a gig at London's iconic 100 Club on Friday 10th March.

Blacktop's Plan For 2017 7/1/17

It was good to receive an update from our friends Blacktop Deluxe who not only finished the last seven months of 2016 as a four piece (Keith, GB, Dean and Jamie) but also saw a busy schedule which also included BluesRockFest (pictured). In 2017 the guys will be working on a new Album for release late Spring/Early Summer, but will also be trying to secure more Festival and Club dates with some European Festival dates already in place.

Trower Of Power 6/1/17

"Rockin' Robin rounded off his set with the blistering and well received 'Little Bit Of Sympathy' - again from 'BOS' before returning to do two encores - the short but punchy guitar of 'Rise Up Like The Sun' from his 15th studio album '20th Century Blues' contrasted with the delightfully slower paced psychedelic Blues title track from 'For Earth Below'. And that was that - a shortish set seeing an early finish - but hey this was definitely a case of quality not quantity. An honour and a privilege Mr. Trower." That was part of AJ's take on Robin Trower at the Islington Assembly Halls in October last year and consequently Robin has carried off our 2016 WRC Award for Best Guitar Solo! Check out our Vid Of The Day plus watch out for our 7th WRC Award announcement tomorrow!

God Gave Rock And Roll To You 5/1/17

Ex-Argent vocalist/guitarist Russ Ballard has written some of the most iconic Rock tracks of the past four decades. A great raconteur with many interesting and funny stories, 'An Evening With Russ Ballard' saw Russ expertly interviewed by Mike Read plus taking questions from the audience, as well as playing some of his hits acoustically and explaining how they came to be written. Throw in for good measure Special Guests Brian May, Kerry Ellis, Rick Wakeman and Bob Henrit with 'Since You Been Gone', 'God Gave Rock And Roll To You' (Vid Of The Day), 'Hold Your Head Up' - this was certainly a unique brilliant night that took place at the Leicester Square Theatre, London, last January, that deservedly has won our Best Acoustic category in our 2016 WRC Awards! Watch out for the announcement of another winner tomorrow!

Introducing ..... Used Blues 5/1/17

The WRC were delighted to recently hear from member Ian Burnside (pictured far right) - guitarist for Used Blues (Track Of The Day). The name says it all ... the songs aren't new, but that doesn't mean there's nothing original about this band who we introduce you to today! From the 1940's tunes of Louis Jordan to the contemporary songs of Gary Clark Jr via Tom Waits, Buddy Guy et al, this band delivers! Having played all over Scotland, live music venues and festivals, the band travelled South of the border for the first time in 2015 to appear at The Stafford Blues Festival and were delighted to return in 2016. Remember, just fill out the form here and become a WRC member for life for FREE and we'll consequently send you a WRC members card which you can use to benefit from the current members offers of which we also hope to add to in the future.

Buried Treasure 5/1/17

Gary ‘Guitar’ Lammin, frontman of acclaimed London Punk-Blues trio the Bermondsey Joyriders, releases his self-titled debut solo album on Friday 24th February via Requestone Records. With elements of 60's Psychedelia, Progressive Rock and tripped-out Blues, the album is a significant departure for Gary, who cut his teeth playing with a veritable Who’s Who of Punk Rock.  Cameos come from MC5 manager and counterculture icon John Sinclair, and the Jim Jones Revue’s Elliott Mortimer, and the whole project was crafted under the direction of legendary Pistols producer Dave Goodman. Stashed away for several years following Goodman’s tragic death, it’s a ‘buried treasure’ release, which immortalises the late producer’s talents, and showcases a fresh side to Gary’s songwriting.

Ramblin' On! 4/1/17

"The main set is closed with crowd favourites 'In My Dreams', 'White Trash Millionaire' and 'Blame It On The Boom Boom' smashed out in bombastic fashion, before the band return and close out Ramblin' Man Fair 2016 with appropriately 'The Rambler', 'Lonely Train' and a quick run through of 'Ace Of Spades' in honour of Lemmy which was a stroke of genius.. From what I heard this was the perfect set to close a great weekend of music which has celebrated the past and looked to the future. Same time, same place next year? Why the devil not! See you on the 29th and 30th July 2017 then Ramblers for number 3.  Can't wait.. ..!!!" That was part of Wrinkly The Silver's 2016 Ramblin' Man Fair review and not unexpectedly that brilliant weekend last July has won this year's WRC Award for Best Festival! Watch out tomorrow for another winner!

Drivin N Cryin 4/1/17

As we expected, our 2016 WRC Awards certainly caught the imagination of both old and new WRC members. So we were delighted to hear from South Carolina videographer Sam Davis whose awesome Drivin N Cryin vid is today's Vid Of The Day. Sam films bands regularly in order to support local artists in the Pee Dee area of SC so check out some of his other vids here. Remember, just fill out the form here and become a WRC member for life for FREE and we'll consequently send you a WRC members card which you can use to benefit from the current members offers of which we also hope to add to in the future.

Cherry On Top Again! 3/1/17

"With the same line-up for 15 years, Black Stone Cherry’s chemistry should be impeccable and it is: their interplay seems effortless and they obviously derive real enjoyment from playing together.  Miraculously, they have maintained both their initial enthusiasm and the flavour of the American South that gives their rock a unique edge.  Long may it continue." He was a busy man in 2016 - but that was part of Big Ian's review of Black Stone Cherry at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in December - and we are therefore delighted to announce that the guys from Kentucky have won our 2016 WRC Best International Band award! Anyway check out today's Vid Of The Day and watch out tomorrow for our next award announcement for Best Festival!

Marshman Says Farewell To 2016 3/1/17

Glorious Inglorious! 2/1/17

"After just catching the end of Leogun’s set, I headed to the Planet Rock Stage to see Inglorious, one of the youngest and freshest rock bands at this year’s Fair.  Their pulsating rock, which focused on tracks from their recently released, self titled debut album, set the main stage’s tone for the day.  My personal favourites were the hard, pounding ‘Warning’, and ‘Holy Water’, a singalong well known to many in the audience. It was obvious the band have already built a sizeable fan base - it is not difficult to see why." That was Big Ian's review of Inglorious at Ramblin' Man Day 1 in July and the guys have consequently walked away with our 2016 Best Rock Performance WRC Award! Anyway, check out today's Vid Of TheDay and watch out for our Best International Award announcement tomorrow!

Arise .... Sir Ray!! 2/1/17

"Finally, it was Ray Davies’ turn, playing an extended set of nearly two hours to help make up for no Joan Armatrading.  Ray had a full supporting band, but no other Kinks - and he ruled out any prospect of a reunion because “we wouldn’t want to do another Who”.  However, even if the band wasn’t pure Kinks, the songs were.  ‘Sunny Afternoon’ had the whole crowd standing, singing and dancing - I did vaguely wonder where those thousands of folding chairs had got to, but didn’t know, and didn’t really care." That was also Big Ian's take on August 2015's Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza (pictured) - so wasn't it good to hear - after all the musical icons we lost in 2016 - that the Kinks legend has become Sir Ray Davies in the 2017 New Years Honours List for his services to the arts. 'A Well Respected Man' there is no doubt.

The bad news last night was that there was no Rock On The Ridge show as Bob & Jules were taking a well-earned break. Blacktop Mojo 1/1/17

Indeed the first time the WRC heard the Hard, Southern, Post-Grunge Rock of Blacktop Mojo was courtesy of Rock On The Ridge! Consequently the WRC teamed up with PledgeMusic to support their second full-length studio record which was recorded and produced at the Sound Emporium in Nashville, Tennessee. Along with the producer of their first record, Philip Mosley, they teamed up with legendary producer Jimmy Johnson and his long time engineer, Steve Melton, of the famed Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, who have recorded acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, Paul Simon and so many other monumental artists. Anyway, check out today's Vid Of The Day - their first single from the new record -  'Where The Wind Blows'.
